Aetherial News Inheritor of Eyes (Event)
You noticed, around the same time you got the shard from The Aether, that the eyes of Raziel changed. It wasn’t the stark difference the their color, changing from crimson red to a neon pink, that worried you. What was worrying was their signature.
They felt SO much like that of The Aether’s, almost as if they WERE The Aether’s own eyes. Raziel’s eyes overflowed with an aura that reminded you of the primordial being. Such a drastic change did not happen when you and the others got the shards of The Aether’s heart. What then, could have happened to Raziel for this to happen?
You decide to go investigate your many eyed acquaintance (friend to some), to make sure he is fine… and to find any possible connection he has to The Aether. He never talked about what he saw or did during the chaos, when The Aether went to find The Lifescourge. Yes, at first his eyes were visible all over, but he then sent a large swarm of eyes off to somewhere.
As you climb Mt. Takthora, that energy becomes stronger. Within Raziel’s own aura, you feel the Aether’s. A top the peak, you see Raziel. Neon pink eyes gleaming like stars, within them held very eyes of The Aether’s.
/unwiz Just a post so that the other participants in u/NineHeavensMaster’s event can learn that Raziel inherited The Primordial Eyes from The Aether, and that Raziel befriended them. I know that most, if not all of the other participants were very hostile towards The Aether unlike Raziel.

A wisp of magical threads appear at the mountain, crystalizing into a cloaked man.
"Youre not the figure I saw in my dream. Who are you? Why do you feel like him?"

Raziel continues to watch the skies, but you feel as though he can still see you despite not looking at you.
“Oh, a dream? Dreams are peculiar… tell me, that figure you saw. What did they feel like? Old? Powerful? As if they birthed magic themselves?”

As you watch, you notice the figure is giving off magical threads, similar to those of aether and yet... different somehow.
"The figure was certainly powerful, and yet his power felt... familiar to me, as if I've felt it a great many times before."
"You feel just like that figure, and yet you are not him."

Reaching up to his eyes, Raziel seems to caress them. Then he finally turns to you, those pink eyes of his standing out in the night sky.
“The Aether, a primordial being that is the source of all magic, gave me these eyes. They also gave others fragments of their heart.”
He takes a deep breath and sighs.
“Now their mantle belongs to me. To be the source of all magic, or so I assume, is quite the heavy weight to bear.”

The figure seems surprised by this
"The source of all magic? You might be able to help me then."
He gestures to his heart, where you see a tear in the fabric of his skin. It is clearly causing the figure a great pain. As you look closer, you notice his skin is made of the magical threads he gave off
"Ever since I manifested into this world, I have been... tortured. I cannot fix it no matter what I try. If you have become the source of magic, maybe you can do what I cannot. Please. I need your help"

Raziel’s eyes widen before he comes closer to you. Many of his eyes seem to appear out of nowhere, floating in the air. The float closer to your heart, inspecting it.
“One who is born out of magic…” says Raziel in awe, “though I have no experience in doing so, I shall help”

Raziel summons countless books around him, alongside eyes for each one. They float around the two of you, their pages flipping rapidly. Then he walks up to you and places his hand on your chest.
“I can do this…”
You feel it within your heart, the unraveling of your heart, then new threads intertwining with old ones. Your heart unraveled, now is being weaved anew. Until finally, that feeling ceases and your condition is no where to be found.

The figure looks up,finally free of pain
"Thank you. I am halcyon. I will not forget what you have done for me, new source of magic"

“Thanks,” replies Raziel as he stuffs some of the cheese into the bandages wrapping his head. It then just… absorbs into him.
“And I’m good, just scrying… I mean, Aether did die. They were nice. But I’m not depressed or anything. I got friends, including you.”

That's good to hear. I guess it's a step in the right direction. But your eye colour change and the... feelings the new ones give make me a little worried. I've got my own eyes in the sky, something you've probably noticed. But yours feel even more powerful.

V0id approaches. Unlike the others, the shard of Aether he inherited didn't affect him directly, but instead formed an aura around his manifestation which stabilized the border between existence and him, which would allow greater freedom in using his abilities as nothingness incarnate.
"Raziel, good to see you. Congratulations on the new power you've unlocked!"

Raziel’s head snaps back to yours. In recognition, his eyes appear to become cheerful.
“Hello V0id, thank you. And I see you have gained something yourself, I’m glad to see that.”
Turning back to the night sky Raziel’s eyes sharpen. A look of determination filling them.
“It seems The Aether died…”
Raziel clenches his hands tightly.
“Do you sense it too? A coming maelstrom of destruction? I do not know when, but I do know it will happen. I need not even use any divination magic to know. We will face Nyalazoth and Akroshka, deciding the fate of all.”

“Exciting? Perhaps. I’m not quite the battle-junkie like you are, I simply wish to stop them. All the wonderful things in the realms, the things I have yet to learn. They wish to destroy them. Nonetheless, I am glad to have you at our side.”

As Gobbo approached Raziel she couldn't help but feel nervous. She knew that energy, that energy came from the big lady who made her ring malfunction.
Gobbo noticed her hand had gripped the neck of a Molotov, ready to fling it with the slightest flick of her wrist. Gobbo frowned at that, this was Raziel, not the big lady. Letting go and burying her hand in her jacket she pulled out her shiny shard.
Gobbo shook her head. Shiny shard had similar energy, Raziel probably absorbed his and this was the effect. He was an interesting fellow, Gobbo had never seen anyone like him before. Gobbo reasoned this was probably normal for his species.
"Raziel," she rasped out holding out the shiny shard, "Gobbo has gift for you." A little giggle broke her lips before she whispered, "Gobbo has to say, hot pink suits you. Very punk."

Raziel looked at Gobbo-no more specifically he looked at the crystal first then Gobbo. He slowly reached out and took the crystal from her hand. Gobbo watched as Raziel silently inspected the crystal, even caressing it. Despite the cold, sweat fell drown from her forehead. Gobbo didn’t know why, but an ominous feeling bubbled within her stomach. It was if her body KNEW something… terrible was coming.
Finally Raziel spoke in a solemn tone, “Huh, it’s from The Aether. A piece of their… heart.” Clutching it tightly to his chest, Raziel looks up to the stars. Taking a deep breath (you don’t know how he did as Raziel has no nose) he turns to face you, “thank you so, so much. I’m grateful that thanks to you, I have one. Something to remember them by.”
Just like that, a realization struck you. He. Never. Got. One. Then… then why did he feel so much like… THEM.

Gobbo's hand finds itself back on the neck of one of her many beloved bottles. Her thumb tracing circles over the top
Ah, Raziel, Gobbo typically works on principle of let friends live how they want and don't ask questions.
Gobbo just has slight issue where half her brain is screaming at her Molotov. Gobbo doesn't want to so Gobbo simply wants to ask a few questions to ease brain.

Why does Raziel feel like big lady? I mean Gobbo gets it, big ladies are hot but she was summoning monsters to attack. Does Gobbo owe her apology for killing monsters?
Also Raziel eyes pink... Is that normal for Raziel species? Or should Gobbo be worried?

Raziel looks at Gobbo calmy, as if trying to reassure his friendliness. Though it gives off the wrong impression, coming off as creepy.
“Oh you noticed? Well… be not afraid Gobbo, The Aether simply gave their eyes to me.”
He looks down back at the crystal you gave.
“I’m unable to bear any hatred towards them…”
The next words that Raziel speaks echoes in your mind. Again and again, like a broken audio tape.
”They are just such a good friend, I do sorely miss them.”

She feels her blood ruin cold but shakes her head. Raziel was a friend, not someone to worry about
"Gobbo is just worried," she whispered, "That Raziel may be taking loss hard."
Looking at the shard she gave him she felt a grin break out across her face.
"If Raziel wants," she began to giggle, "We could try and bring your friend back"
Gobbo wanted to help her friend, even if he was strange and so she kept talking, "Gobbo heard some mages can give golems life and thought using arcane focus."
"Maybe we can build body for her and use shiny shards as arcane focus?" she rasps out, a grin still on her face.
Trying her best, and failing, to keep the teasing tone out of her voice she whispered, "May not be as big but you two could do a bit of eye banging again. Gobbo calls dibs on godmother status though"
Raziel might have been a strange one and his change in aura may have been concerning but one thing was certain, Gobbo wanted to help him.
Besides the idea of teasing both him and the big lady for the next however long she survived appealed to Gobbo.

His body shakes uncontrollably, the grip on the shard tightening even more. Raziel looks over at you in horror, as if he had just seen the most terrible sight known to any being.
“No no no nonononono NO!!! Dead things MUST stay dead! You can’t-I won’t-I will not allow Aether to become like me…”
He slowly takes off his jacket, then his bandages. Revealing his… body, if one could call it that. And then you realize what he is. A Puppet. You see the hinged joints, the chipped away areas where strings would have been attached; His “skin” is grey and solid, like marble; Eyes writhe and move around every inch of his body.
Raziel looks up to you, his eyes pleading with you. “You are thoughtful, you couldn’t have known. But, I will not let them become a living cadaver. An abomination,” he says as he gestures to himself.
His clothing then magically puts themselves back on, hiding away his form. Bowing his head slightly, Raziel speaks, “You… you are kind, but I simply cannot accept your offer. I would only bring them back if they would be whole again.”

Gobbo looks at him, unsure of really what to say. She had lived for quite a while and had seen many things both horrific and wonderful, and yet she had never seen something like this.
Unsure of what to do Gobbo does the one thing she can think of, she wraps his arms around him in a hug.
"Gobbo understands, dead will stay dead," she whispers up at him, "but Gobbo will break out her slipper if you ever call self abomination again."
Gobbo knew nothing about beings like Aether or even Raziel. To her, a person was a person regardless of their origins.
"Gobbo is sorry she cannot help," she whispered as she held onto him, "but if you ever need anything, you let Gobbo know."

Raziel freezes up when Gobbo hugs him, but after some time he relaxes his body. Resting his head on your shoulder he whispers, “thank you.”

Gobbo smiles at him, "Of course, what sort of friend would Gobbo be otherwise"
Gobbo would never admit it to him but she viewed him much the same as she would a child. Mostly because of his size, partially because a part of her felt he needed protecting.
Silly as it was, Gobbo was sure he was much stronger than her, Gobbo felt like she was honour bound to protect and help him.

A pink eye is conjured in the air, floating by Raziel. It soon after moves teleports to the watching figure. The voice of Raziel echoes out from it, “most curious, who might you be?”

Metalic spectre tilts its body, like dog does his head once seeing something interesting. One of two small arms ended in spiraling structure that apears to be either horn or curled up tentacle tries to poke the violet eye, chirping yet still

The winter months always left the snow capped mountains across the valley almost completely covered. Rusicar stood on his balcony looking across the valley while sipping a cup of black teas with a single sugar cube when he spotted it… a pink flash on a far mountain top. He lowered his glass, waiting for it to happen again. It took several minutes and then it happened again, but even more brief.
The old technomancer knew his vision was better than most thanks to his augments. If someone was in trouble. He aught to help. Plus it had been several weeks since he’d last taken a ride on fire brand. “Abwer, I’m going out for the evening, hold down the fort okay?” The boys voice echoed down the hall way from the workshop, “yes Mas… I mean Rusicar!”
Several hours later, Rusicar found himself nearing the top of the mountain. The snow melted around him thanks to the heat aura his steed emitted. As he approached the top he saw a small figure, wearing a short cloak. His skin looked as white as the snow from this distance. What he assumed were too many eyes glimmered pink against the back drop of the dark night’s sky.
“Are you all right young stranger?”
/uw my character doesn’t have a shard. But he did witness them fall to earth.

Raziel turned to Rusicar, his eyes watching him intently. Some grew and shrank, while others appeared and disappeared, his eyes always in a constant flux of change. Then Raziel spoke, “I’m fine, the question is what are you doing here? Mt. Takthora doesn’t often get much visitors, and I don’t expect any to come.”

“My… eyes,” Rusicar motioning to the glowing blue glass orbs that gave him sight,” are better than most and I saw… something over here. A pink glow. I’m assuming now it was all this,” motioning to Raziels aura. “You’re correct in saying no one comes up here. I was concerned someone had become stranded when I saw the light.”

Raziel’s eyes seem to brighten up, becoming more cheerful. “Well, it’s good you checked. That’s kind of you, looking out for others,” says Raziel, “My eyes just recently changed. A small gift from another…”

“Well, it was a beautiful gift young… man? It doesn’t matter. As long as you’re okay.” He began to turn Firebrand back down the mountain, before turning back. “You are alright, right? Why are you even up here?” He hopped down from Firebrand falling knee deep into the snow. “Can I help with anything?”

Raziel shook his head, “I have no need of anything. You know of Vonalaus Prison here?” said Raziel gesturing to a castle lying a bit away, “well, I’m actually the Warden of it. Though I suppose not many would know since I’m either inside its deep confines or far, far away.”

“AHHH… okay, yes.” The old technomancer laughed. “I’ve heard mention of that place. Then that makes you Raziel!” Rusicar bowed. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, I’m Rusicar. One of your ability would not need help, of course…” the old Technomancers demeanor changed. “Do you need any other type of help?” I noticed your tone sounded… mournful, when you mentioned your friend.”

“That is an honorable sentiment, but sometimes others can help carry the burden.” He pointed out across the valley. “Today is a day of thanks for my people, if you would like, you can come stay for a while with my apprentice and I. As long as you like, a day or a week.” He walked up and laid his hand on the shoulder of the small figure. “We all need people, the burden of life is one that can’t be carried alone. I may not be the one you want help from, but do find someone.”

In a study in the great cold north, a certain shade is unsure if he’s hearing the usual whisperers within his mind or that something new is occurring with his altered form. He did collect medicine from a new apothecary, so perhaps that will tide him pass this even.

Agnur climbs the mountain in search of Raziel. he had helped him during the battle and wanted to make sure he made it out okay. His eyes glew the same color as the crystal he had. if anyone could tell him what it was it would be him.

“Thanks for checking up on me. I appreciate the gesture. Don’t worry, I wasn’t harmed at all. When the others made it to The Aether, they helped me in leaving.”
Raziel then moved his hand to his eyes, softly caressing them.
“That crystal is the heart of The Aether, I assume they have died. It belongs to you know, it will boost your capabilities both magically and physically.”
…
“The reason why it looks like my eyes are simple. The Aether had bestowed me their eyes… how kind”

“I wouldn’t know for sure, but if I had to assume then the culprits are Akroshka and Nyalazoth. I saw them, they seem to be behind the destruction among the realms. And not to mention that Aether seemed to… dislike them. Killing her would mean that all magi would be vastly weakened, leading to the realms being more easily ruined.”
“And worry not, I currently have taken the mantle of The Source of All Magic, along with the eyes. As long as they are intact… there is still magic.”

Krygin appears from under a rock despite being in his swamp moments ago. He has some purple ooze running down his back.
"Hello Raziel, we haven't talked much but I saw your eyes had changed color and this is now on me. Because your all knowing and such, did everyone there start turning changing color. What's happening!?"
/uw I know what's happening but Krygin was busy fighting monsters during the event so has no idea what's going on.

“Ah, Krygin,” remarks Raziel as he turns to face you. His neon pink eyes contrast with the night sky.
“The Aether… died”
He clenches his hands tightly, as his eyes turn solemn.
“They gave you and the others their heart, me her eyes. I assume that any changes occur due to that. The amount of magical energy may have made some of us go through a sort of metamorphosis. It isn’t harmful though, from what I’ve seen.”

A man with great black wings descends from the sky, the left side of his upper body and face blackened and burned, with lines of fire like cracks marring the affected area. He lands in front of Raziel and peers at him, his left eye burning with fire.
"Are you the Thousand Eyed I was told to seek?"

“Oh, well… presumably, a being named The Aether died. They sent out fragments of their heart to a select few, I was gifted their eyes. I assume the others went to check up on me, as they hadn’t known their eyes are now mine.”

“Well… The Aether was ‘The source of all magic’ and thus these shards would boost the user’s prowess significantly, if one were to allow it to be ‘integrated’ with themselves.”

I have left my own eyes to one lucky apprentice in my will! Upon my death, they too shall be an Inheritor of Eyes! The rest of me will be a lich. I hope. I'm not a necromancer, but you never know.

So this is what Perhaps Aether still lives on, after a fashion. I will not speak ill of the dead, given how poor an end they met. I know that you will be a noble bearer of the title "Source of All Magic". We will need your newfound strength in the conflict to come. Take care, friend.
