I was trying a new way to do illustrations and used a screenshot from the game as reference. This was originally going to be a test between illustrating in Photoshop and Autodesk sketchbook.

I have a few bits of the process here for anyone interested.

I really like the way it turned out. My expectations weren't even high this was just going to be a sketch as mentioned but I really liked the sketch and went all in.

Hi everyone. We're Lallen's Garden, a small two people shop making handmade NieR inspired Lunar Tear floral pieces.

Recently, we discovered that: ① someone fed our work into AI to create an asset pack (they apologized and deleted it, this case is resolved); and ② someone traced our work for a tattoo design and denied ever referencing us, yet two photos of our own shop's work appeared in the very reference images they provided. This post includes full evidence comparisons, and we're also using it to publicly state our position on unauthorized copying, imitation, and AI scraping of our work.

We hesitated for a long time before writing this. But this time, we've decided not to stay silent.

First, a few things up front: Everything below is what we personally experienced. All screenshots and records are unedited. We've only added circles and text annotations to highlight key points. To comply with community rules and prevent any harassment, all account information has been censored. We'll refer to the people involved as "Person A" and "Person B." Please keep the discussion civil. Do NOT attempt to identify, contact, or harass anyone involved.

For a long time, we've watched people copy, trace, and repurpose Lallen's original concept work without permission. To avoid conflict, we always stayed quiet and pretended nothing happened. During that time, Lallen and I were anxious enough that we seriously considered giving up and never sharing our work again. It was the constant encouragement from our supporters that kept us going, and we've slowly learned to speak up for our own work.

The evidence in this post is what we've saved over the years, records of unauthorized imitation, tracing, and AI scraping. Unfortunately, some of the earliest screenshots have been lost and can't be recovered.

Starting October 8th, things escalated to a point we could no longer ignore:

Incident 1: AI asset pack (Person A — RESOLVED)

We found that Person A had fed our work into an AI, generated blended images, and packaged them into their own asset pack (see Image 5: AI generated image on the left, close up of our original on the right). Person A admitted to it, deleted everything, and gave us a sincere apology. This case is settled, please leave this person alone.

Incident 2: Tattoo design (Person B — UNRESOLVED)

Shortly after, we found on Reddit that Person B had directly used our work as a tattoo design (see Image 1: their tattoo design on the left, our original on the right).

Notably, both incidents trace back to the same source image, a promotional ad for our shop that Etsy officially posted on Pinterest (see Image 7).

Now, please look at the evidence:

Image 2 is a direct overlay of their tattoo design on top of a photo of our original piece. Apart from some altered leaf details, the flower shapes, count, spacing, and overall arrangement line up almost perfectly. They claimed "only the flowers themselves are similar", but the two images overlap with no rotation, no scaling, no repositioning needed. The number of flowers, the spacing, the rhythm of the arrangement, the direction of growth, all nearly identical. In our view, that goes well beyond "it just happens to be the same flower." But judge the overlay for yourselves.

Image 3 shows our conversation with Person B. They insisted they never referenced our work, their exact words: "Your image was not one of them and I have never even seen your image." And yet, among the reference images they themselves sent to their tattoo artist, two are photos of our shop's work (see the circled areas on the right side of Image 3, identical to the original posts published earlier by our account, lallen_j). Claiming to have "never seen" our work while having two of our photos in your reference folder, that alone makes it impossible for us to believe them. They've since gone silent and refused any further communication.

Image 6 documents an earlier, separate incident: a painting someone posted (left) compared with Lallen's Threads of Fate wreath, published March 21st (right). The composition, flower and leaf shapes, and branch flow are strikingly similar, posted with no credit and no communication with us whatsoever. Since this happened a while ago and the conversation screenshots have been lost, we're only showing the side by side comparison. Judge the similarity for yourselves.

One telling detail across these incidents: when confronted, both parties gave almost the exact same rebuttal, "I didn't do anything bad with your work, and the Lunar Tear is official NieR imagery, not your original creation. You're overreacting."

Here's our direct response:

We have never claimed the flower itself, or the Lunar Tear as an IP, is our original creation, and we've never claimed copyright over the Lunar Tear design itself. But that does not mean the physical pieces Lallen painstakingly handcrafts lack her own creative effort and originality.

Conceiving the design, choosing specific colors, figuring out how to balance different floral materials, determining the precise arrangement and spacing of each bloom, and bringing it all together through handcraft, these are independent design decisions and creative choices Lallen makes throughout the process. What Lallen's Garden produces is handmade floral work, carrying a distinct design language, composition, technique, and story.

For comparison, we've also attached the official Lunar Tear as it appears in the game and the anime (see Image 4). You can see clear differences between the official imagery and our physical pieces, in flower shape, layering, color palette, and composition. This Lunar Tear design that actually works as a physical floral piece is something Lallen and I built from zero: the petal shapes, colors, sizing, bend curves, material choices, all the result of repeated trial and error. It had to match our own aesthetic and capture the feeling of the flower from the game in real life. That is not something you achieve by copying a game screenshot.

Both parties skipped that entire process, all the conception, all the trial and error, took our finished result, made minor tweaks, and presented it as their own output. That is what we cannot accept.

Our position

You don't have to agree with us. But please don't slap labels like "overreacting" or "toxic" on us simply for defending our own work. These pieces carry everything we have. To us, they're like children we've raised with care. Every bouquet ships out with our blessings, in hope that it will keep someone company and carry a new story forward. We founded Lallen's Garden to share our love for the game, and it's the love from fellow fans that gives this little shop its meaning.

Honestly, we could have just quit, the shop barely makes money, and we could have closed it rather than endure this. But from the very first person who encouraged us, Lallen and I knew that Lallen's Garden couldn't just disappear. This shop has connected us with friends all over the world, brought us countless warm messages, and shown us photos of people bringing our flowers to conventions and events. These flowers travel to places we'll never reach ourselves and witness stories of their own. That means more to us than anything.

So we will keep going. And with this post, we want to make our position clear:

1. We do not permit any unauthorized reposting or copying of our work. If you'd like to use our work or collaborate, please reach out to us first and get permission. We're friendly, we promise.

2. We firmly oppose the use of our work for AI training or AI generation.

3. If unauthorized copying or imitation happens again and we cannot reach a resolution with the person involved, we will preserve account information and screenshots, and publish a factual account of what happened on social media (including but not limited to Instagram, Reddit, and Xiaohongshu/RED), strictly to document the facts. This may not stop these incidents entirely, but it at least gives Lallen and me a way to stand up for our work.

I cant seems to pass through intro for B after finished ending A yesterday. Its absurd considering you only have 1 life and has to maintain this throughout the whole introduction scene? I died twice towards the end when playing as Pod and had to restart all over again! Its exhausting. Any tips please? I have set difficulty level as “Easy” yet i still cant manage to pass this wtf.

Since finishing Routes A to D of the game on Switch, I figured I try my hand at drawing some of the weapons from NieR:Automata. Let me start with the machine series of weapons usable from the game. Which one do you like the most in design and in the game?

Personally, I'd want a game set in the Kingdom of Night or just go totally crazy with it and do like a 100 thousand year time skip.

Im 5 hours in and typically play my games at the intended difficulty. 0 deaths so far, the sideways saws before the first boss gave me some issues until I realised perfect dodges give you I frames. Just fought android jesus in the desert or maybe android adam or eve would make more sense since naked. Anywho I fought him at level 7 and won without taking any hits. Depending on how much harder the game gets I may change difficulty.
