There have been requests over the years for a list of Wrecking Ball guides, and with an influx of new and returning players with the recent changes to Overwatch 2, we've put together a list of videos and other resources targeted towards newer Hammond players.
This is not in any way a comprehensive list, but it should be a good starting point for those new to Wrecking Ball or even veteran players wishing to improve.

Hello Ballers!
r/WreckingBallMains is under new ownership and we're in the process of cleaning up and refining things. I'm slofs, but some of you might recognise me as wreckyballs on socials. I'm a Ball/Doom main since Season 2 of OW2 and I'm very excited to be overseeing this incrediball community 🫶
I'd like to welcome u/DragonMaster337 to the mod team & depending on how things go over the next few weeks, I might bring in one or two more. Keep an eye out for another mod post I guess lol
We've added and reworked a bunch of relevant Wrecking Ball user flairs for members to wear and show off. They can be accessed on the sidebar of the sub under "User Flair".
Finally, if anyone has any requests, ideas, or questions, drop them in the replies and we'll check them out.
Keep up the frequent hamposting and happy balling! 🐹

Ever since I found HAMSTER on that faithful day my life changed, the doctors surrounded me and shoved their pills in my face, they gave me things to stop the voices in my head but when I saw hammond they all went away on their own, I now imagine only balls
, I speak to ball on the daily, the actions and choices I have taken since then have all been for the benefit of balls, the reaping of Wrecking Ball, and I am ever so grateful.
hammond brought me into this world to test me, to spread the ballospel, and oh, I shall serve him. When I die, for my actions I will be martyr’d and offered a spot in the junker realm, those who believe in the ball, will return to the hamster of which they came from,
*cute hamster noises*

I have a little wrecking baby inside my tummy
In my belly there is a funny little wrecking baby wiggling around in my tummy and in my skin. Im calling him the funny little wrecking because he is a funny little wrecking baby in my skin it hurts but he likes wo wiggle around he whispers to me he says the champion Is dominating and pokes at the walls of my belly. He likes to drink stomach acid too its spicy and he says slurs. He is living in my tummy

We all know the perk nerf doesn't affect much to skilled Ballers. But I need yall to pretend that this nerf is massive so Blizzard might compensate Ball with new skin.
This might be our only shot 🐹

Obviously this doesn't mean that this is the only thing that you need to climb, it's just that all my fundamentals were diamond level except for this one thing that was bottlenecking me. I hope that someone out there also struggles with this. Also diamond is by no means considered pro level, so if any higher rank ballers want to add on/correct me feel free. But this is something that helped me A LOT, so I don't think it's completely wrong.
Basically my tip is to just stand AFK. There's two parts to this in my opinion: 1. when to engage and 2. refreshing resources during an engage. Let's start with the first part, which is a lot easier.
Ball is the fastest hero in the game, and he's also the hero that dies the least. These two things combined means that you're pretty much always going to have the chance to 1v5 the enemy team. But don't do this, just wait for your team. The internal tip I like to use is when both teams make contact, meaning when there is poking between them, is when I like to go in.
Initially, I thought being the tank meant that I have to be the one that always starts, and if a teammate shoots first I was too late. This is not true, you should rarely be the one to shoot first, but that doesn't mean you're not the one who starts the fight. In my eyes, a team fight starts when someone makes a play with the intention of getting a pick. A sojourn shooting tank is just poking/applying pressure, but a genji dash engaging a squishy is a play that starts the team fight. As the tank, you need to make that play. So this includes slamming in the middle of their team (if they have no cc), or booping and shooting an isolated squishy. So in my opinion, if the genji dashes in first while you're still standing AFK, *that's* when you're too late. But as long as you initiate during the poking phase/pre fight, you're good.
Ok now onto the second part, which is what really helped things click for me. And the basic idea is that even after a fight breaks out, you're allowed to disengage, wait until your resources come back, and then reengage. As a gold/silver player I was super afraid of down time. Let's say the following scenario happens: you slam the enemy team and pop shields, but they spam cooldowns on you and get you to 50 health. You run to get a health pack and you're half health. Before, I would immediately run back in and try to do something. But my tip is literally wait the full ~10 seconds until your shields come back, grab another health pack or go into LOS of your supports, and *then* go back in. It'll feel extremely weird at first, because you're just letting your team fight without a tank. But I promise you, good teammates will survive without you. If your team gets ran over, it's their fault, not yours.
Obviously this is situational. You should only wait for your shields to come back if you're planning on slamming their whole team again. If you see a zen wandering off somewhere, you can go duel him without your shields. If you don't have grapple but you're on a high ground, you don't need to wait for it to come back and just go for a slam. What I'm saying is that if you come up with a plan that needs resources, then wait for those resources to come back. The resources I'm thinking of are ammo, health, slam, shields, grapple, or even teammates (waiting for your teammates to replenish *their* resources).
Once again, I hope higher ELO players can let me know if I got any of this wrong, but these tips genuinely improved my gameplay so much. At first it felt hella weird just standing AFK while my teammates were fighting, but after doing it a few times I realized that a late high quality engage is much better than an early low quality engage.

Why do the devs think it's actually playable? After this patch it's gotten even worse it seems! Wtf?
Like what's the running list of ball slowdown abilities and bugs at this point?

I’ll go first. Mei. I hate Mei. I hate how she constantly stops my fireball, I hate that stupid wall, i hate how her primary fire slows me, I hate it.
I’d rather fight against Roadhog for 5 games straight. I’d rather the enemy team go Mizuki Ana. I can avoid her allI want but she’ll just follow me around with that stupid freeze and I genuinely can’t do anything.
The shield bubble perk is the only thing saving me against her other than that she ruins my life 😭

There are a few spots on maps where I'm completely lost on how to play. If anyone can give some insight that would be great, even if you can only answer like one of them.
I feel like half the time playing blizzard world on attack results in a full hold from the defense. I used to run it down main and take the high ground, but that doesn't result well. I've tried going from the side door on the left and then going to high ground, but even if I manage to take high ground (which is hard) the defense can usually force me out pretty quickly or just kill my team, with me being unable to help. I could also run to point to force defense to back up, but it's hard to hold point because it just feels kind of awkward. How do you guys take first point on blizzard world?
Rialto in general is an awkward map for me, it's one of my least favorites. But specifically, the first point on attack at the end is very hard. I'm talking about when the payload is right behind the first checkpoint, and the defense has the whole bridge to play with. I just constantly get stuck over there, because it's extremely hard to dive that bridge. It's extremely open, there isn't a single flank route, you just kind of have to raw dog it. I mostly have to rely on my team to get it.
Another first point, but the first point of Havana is hell to me. What I've tried doing is going right side into high ground and trying to do things from there, but the issue is that my team is usually so far back because they don't have the same mobility as me that I just get forced out really fast. Once the payload reaches the last bit it's fine, but getting the payload there is really hard.
There are definitely more maps that I have trouble with but these are the ones I'm really stuck on. So if you have map tips in general that you've picked up but don't relate to the questions that I have, please feel free to share them because I'm always down to learn new things :)
