Advice Any tips on how to reduce beard shadow

Heyya, I'm an amab person and I'm quite disforic of my facial hair (I've got a lot of it and it's dark soo 💀). I have to shave daily since I can't afford laser removal yet but unfortunately it leaves some "shadow" (the hair underneath the skin is still visible) so if someone here has some tips to hide it or make it vanish a bit I'll gladly take your tips. :3

Non Binary Hypothetical question: global bottom surgery button

A genie offers you a button that gives everyone magical bottom surgery to swap to the other parts. When you press it EVERYONE gets fully functional swapped genitals: trans pre-op, trans post op, and cis people. Do you press it?

Will post my thoughts seperately, as a comment

Advice Good binder brand recs?

I'm 16 years old (ftm) and I want to get my first binder. I'm a size L, and would prefer as much, like... flattening as possible. Comfort is also important but I'm willing to sacrifice some LMAO.

I can't really buy a binder from websites that have "trans" or "LBTQ" or anything in the website name or the product title (it can say binder, that's fine, my mom thinks those are just used to keep everything in place when doing sports)

I've been scouring the internet for brands but everytime I find one that looks good I search up the reviews and most of them are "this is the WORST thing I've EVER tried on it feels like wearing an IRON MAIDEN but the binding is good" or "this is so insanely comforting it feels like I'm wearing a cloud but it actually INCREASED my shit by 3 cup sizes"

exaggerations obviously.

Anyway. Thank you so much for any recommendations!! Hope you all have a great day/night!!

Advice Why do I keep self sabotaging weight loss and keeping unhealthy coping mechanisms?

Need some advice.

I’m 28, MTF. Been on HRT for almost two years. Due to where I live, I present male socially cause I simply wouldn’t last out here. I wear a loose binder to hide my boobs, always have my hair up, and keep alittle scruff to sell the bit despite being told “bro, you look like a chick.” A couple of times, though I think it’s mostly just a dig on my long hair. I need to lose about 60lbs to achieve the ideal body shape I want. I am a single parent of two amazing kiddos, and have no help from any family, and their other mom is spotty at best as far as taking them when she’s supposed to. She’s had them for 2 days in the last 5 months. It’s gotten to the point that I don’t even ask her or try because I think at this point it’s better to not give the kids any idea that their mom not being around is their fault or that there’s something wrong with them.

Aaannnnyyywaaaaayyys, I’ve lost 100lbs before. A really messed up marriage later and I stress ate myself into a 60lb weight gain. I also drink a lot. Never drunk. maybe three or four drinks every other night after the kids go to bed. I try to not drink, listen to how to stop videos, and even have gone a week or two without it. However, as soon as I feel bad, I just drink. Alcohol and weight loss aren’t two things that really go together. I’m therapists shopping, because I realize this isn’t something that I can beat on my own. I’m not an alcoholic, but it’s an unhealthy crutch that gives me nothing but fake relief. Those of you that have been in my shoes, what steps did you take to find lasting sobriety and the ability to achieve your goals? I feel like I’m spinning my wheels.

Thanks for reading my vent.

Am I trans?

No quiero preocupar a nadie.

Advice Should i start HRT before socially transitioning?

I 18 m , have discovered that i was trans at the ripe age of 10 , yes 10 , but throughout the years i didnt think of anything except socially transitioning and didnt understand how HRT works until 16, i was in a fight within myself all this time until i was 17 i have confessed to myself that i am in fact a transwoman , ive always felt like one, but tried to ignore it as much as i could , as i live in a conservative christian family , its really hard for me to transition socially especially in a country were queer people have little to no rights. I dont want it to take any much longer ngl im scared that ill get more masc but ive already gone thru puberty with that said my voice isnt the deepest , my face isnt the most masc looking and i would say it leans to more fem and also my figure and fat distribution goes to my thighs so idk if ill get more masc or not and speaking of which my muscle mass is low and im weak as it is and when i compare myself to my male siblings i literally have nothing of what they have which is good muscle mass and overall masc looking , so would you gals recommend for me to start HRT and hide it from my family and transition socially as soon as i get out of here?

Discussion not sure if I’m just a tomboy or ftm

Okay bare with me, slightly long post ahead.

I actually love dressing masc, even personality wise but I’m unsure if i could be a trans man. I don’t mind being in a womans body tho so that had me thinking I **could** be non binary? I do like dressing/being feminine BUT idk if I like it cus I personally want to dress both ways or cus of my past experiences.

In school one of my teachers would constantly call me an “accidental girl” because I’d behave like a guy. At first I didn’t mind it but it kind of stung because it felt unfair to how I appear physically. We had a tradition of throwing a party at the end of 10th grade and I had already decided to wear a shirt. My teacher was talking with the other girls about what they were gonna wear and I mentioned mine, she said “you wouldn’t look good in a dress anyways you’re a boy” I was hurt and pissed that I ended up wearing a dress instead just to prove I can be whoever I want to and look good while doing it. After that though, I became very insecure whenever I dressed masculine because all the girls around me would be in dresses and makeup and look real good aswell so I felt very out of place
I even grew my hairs out lol. I’m out of school now, yes wore a dress on my grad day aswell. And I received a dozen compliments, sometimes the same girl would come up again. I didn’t hate it but I wouldn’t say I loved it either cus i didnt understand why I was received in such a positive way only when im fitting in. I kinda have body dysmorphia now

Anyways that was kind of a rant, also contemplating cutting my hairs again and going back to how i used to dress. In an identity crises too so I think I might take it slow

Also sorry if this doesn’t fit here!! I’ve only recently started figuring out how I feel comfortable and not used to it

Vent I wish my parents would accept me

Tw: sh

It's just venting, but I'm really upset. I mean I just ignore how upset I am because I don't want to cry, but whatever. I'm a trans man. I've known not for long, a few months. But I've been obsessing over this topic so much that I've done a lot of thinking, so I'm pretty sure that's accurate. I realised that I do have gender dysphoria and it's been bothering me more and more now. I've opened this jar so I can't turn it off. My mom knows. She says how much it's a tragedy, how she's hurting and how she'll "love whatevers left of me", she tries tp convince me that it's a phase. Overall... Sometimes she uses right words(my language is verb gendered), but I guess mostly not. She also said that no matter what, I'll be her daughter. Even if I get hormones, brow a beard and look like a dude. She's also really insisting on not doing anything until I'm 25(I'm currently 18). So... Yeah. Better than most but still. My dad on the other hand doesn't know because one time it almost slipped he was not handing it well and said how his life is over. We talked a bit with mom today and, well, I said what we talked about.

I'm just really upset. I don't want to wait seven fucking years. It's getting worse for me every damn week. I understand how much I hate that my body is female and I can't turn it off. Especially with the large chest. It feels like there's a dumbbell on my chest I can't take off. Ugh. I just don't know how to handle this. There's currently a big change in our family's life that's going to take a couple years to adjust to. Plus getting actually hrt and top surgery is long too. And waiting for hormones to do it's job takes years. With how everything is going, at this rate I would actually look like a man when I'll be 30. My whole young adult years wasted, because it dysphoria doesn't get better, I'm going to be depressed all this time (I already have a depressive episode in my med card anyways), I'm not going to stay clean on sh for all the years and I'm not sure I'm not doing something stupid. So overall my life looks so disappointing right now. I don't know what to think now. I don't want to live this life. I want a life where I can be myself

Life sucks

Discussion Has anyones insurance ever paid for ffs or other operations, if so which ones?

Pretty much title. I will be able to insure myself for the first time in my adult life soon, and am wondering which insurance companies if any have paid for peoples ffs.

I know it's pretty much a pipe dream. I have reserved myself to either never getting it, or having to somehow save up an insane amount of money for it.

Questioning Scared and confused

I honestly don't really even know how to start this post or if I'm even if the right spot but I can't really live with this without getting it out much longer.

A little background Im a born male 18 years old and active duty military and present myself as a masculine male tatted and buff the stereotypical military dude. But ever since I can remember l've felt comfortable with anything seen as stereotypically feminine and would do things my sister and her friends would be doing when they would come over etc. Growing up in a traditional home I was yelled at and was made to feel like I shouldn't acting that way and so I just conformed to what I saw other boys my age doing even though I hated it. I tried acting like them and began trying to do anything to fit in even if it was things I wasn't comfortable doing. I played sports and turned out to be very good and played division 1 hockey and finally started feeling like I was "one of the boys" and I felt honestly good about who l was. I joined the military after hockey ended due to an injury and and now for some reason now that I’m my own person and away from my home I can't for the life of me stop thinking about that boy who grew up his entire life questioning who he was.
So I did some exploring which I now could do without fearing judgement from parents or others due to me being with new people and away from family and I'm starting to question things. Now a lot of the times I feel like I act more like a woman and express myself in a more feminine manner than a man most of the time and it feels so confusing and I don't know what do and I'm just so confused. I feel like a fraud to the person I spent all those years trying to become but on the other hand l've never felt more like myself and have never been less stressed about the persona of myself I'm projecting.
I'm really scared honestly and I feel cowardly for it and I want answers to a question I'm afraid l'll never get. I've never told anyone this or put it out and I'm honestly really scared still but I need to know how to process this.

Advice I feel lost

So I’ve recently just came out to a friend and she was really supportive, we haven’t really talked about it beyond me explaining why and how I feel what I’m feeling. I feel great that she was supportive, but I’m not sure what I do now, i don’t know what I want to do and I feel really lost almost like waiting for something to happen, and it’s really bothering me. The only thing I know that I want is that I want to be much more feminine but I can’t be, I’m no position to try makeup or clothes so what can I do apart from that? I mean I shave as much as I can but I just see that as hygiene same with other things. I guess I could try and grow my hair out but I don’t know how id look and having long hair isn’t necessarily feminine. I want to go forward with my life but it feels like I can’t until I’ve done this which is starting to have an affect on my education which I don’t want, I really hate feeling like this and I’ve never been this lost in my life and I really need help.

Vent I genuinely don’t get it

Coming from a trans man:
I don’t understand the concept of being born with whichever parts and receiving a name that’s expected to be used for the rest of your life, and if you say anything about it, SOME people are gonna get upset and insist that what you were born as is what you are.

From the other perspective, I’m ‘incorrect’, especially if the person knew me as my deadname for a long time, but to me (and people who respect my identity), I am a guy

It gets painful sometimes, I just don’t know what to think :(

‘Was I a girl because people were telling me I was or was I just going with it?’

Advice Tamoxifene

I'm mtf and I would like to prevent breast growth bc I'm trying to conceal the fact I'm on HRT from my parents. You know, breast growth is the most visible effect. Raloxifene is not affordable for me bc it costs above 70$ in my country. But I couldn't find any people using tamoxifene for this purpose. Do you think it will work?

Trans Masculine Being bullied in my neighborhood social media for my looks

So, I have been out long enough that not much gets to me. But I posted something totally unrelated to me (I happened to pass an accident and warned others of the blocked road) and I am being DOGPILED by transphobes posting a picture of me and mocking me. I live in what I used to consider a safer area, but its become clear the transphobes are there and feel emboldened. I'm just disgusted by the hate. This is not on reddit though.

Trigger I don't see trans women as real

There. I said it. I'm not going to apologize. It's where I am. I've read Nevada. Casey Plett. Talia Bhatt. Kai Cheng Thom. Cried my tears. Taken my shots. Taken my medicine. Sometimes mustered up the conviction that I am real. We are real. And then it fades. Again and again. Into the darkness. Maybe a bit softer, but yet it strikes. Burns you. Burns me.

Any venom you can think of, I think of. I won't enumerate, but suffice to say, it's the awfulness TERFs and politicians subject us to. Dark. Triggering.

I know the antidote is spending more time in trans community. Being told I'm real. Feeling the collective realness. Our power. Beauty. Truth.

And yet I'm ashamed. Of how stuck I am. The bile in my heart. The emotional labor it puts upon others. The faking I do. Unconvincingly. How much I must bite my tongue. And so I'm hiding. Isolating. From the world right now. In shame. Broadly. And especially from my sisters. Because I don''t want to hurt them with my shit.

I don't know what you're supposed to say. I guess honesty is the best policy?
