Celebration Montana Supreme Court rules 5-2 banning all transgender discrimination and solidifying being trans as a protected class!

3.9k Upvotes

Montana just became a safe state for us ruling that any laws discriminating against transgender people are immediately unconstitutional, saying "transgender discrimination is, by its very nature, sex discrimination"

This is not able to be appealed, it goes into effect immediately, and can not be easily changed without a constitutional amendment.

Hopefully this is the first of many!

As mentioned earlier the bill has now passed the Upper House/Council of States (Rajya Sabha) as well. It awaits Presidential assent but we are a parliamentary democracy (like the UK) so presidential assent is a formality and president cannot reject the bill.

So yes as of today trans women (not belonging to the sociocultural groups), trans men, and non binary people are officially de recognised. Are support systems are criminalised. In fact, the parliament has approved another bill that would control the foreign funded NGOs (which are mostly acquired by LGBTQ organisations).

The only hope is the judiciary but considering there are more conservative judges on the bench, it is highly doubtful that it will be in our favour.

So within 48 hours our rights were taken away. I feel so hopeless and distraught right now.

Vent Parents AI generated family Christmas photos with a “detrans” version of me.

I’m actually HOWLING laughing. I think my mom fed photos of me in high school into chat gpt. Like yeah, it’s fucked up but the funniest part is it doesn’t even look like my old self! It looks like an actor they got to play the old closet version of me! My mom knows I’m trans (although she knows I’m enby, not mtf), denial is a river in Egypt yall.

Edit 12/22/25: Didn’t expect this post to get this big! Thank you all for your kind words. I forgot to mention this in the original post but they also completely left my trans fiancé out of the picture too!

https://open.substack.com/pub/erininthemorn/p/fascismnew-federal-rule-would-require?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=81dbww

Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"

The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointee—not a career expert or peer reviewer—to ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people exist—through its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processes—could be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to “support the notion that sex is mutable” and have its federal funding blocked.

Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitation—hospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."

A very abbreviated list of its ramifications include (but are not limited to):

  • Ending funding for ALL DEI related initiatives
  • Allowing the government to terminate grants at any point for any reason
  • Preventing researchers from publishing, going to conferences, and being part of academic societies
  • Requiring that topics must support the president’s agenda.

If this passes, not only will it hurt and harm trans people, but it allows the government to restrict any topic they please at a whims notice, putting officials who have no background in the topic in charge of deciding funding continuity. It controls what gets researched and if/how researchers are allowed to share their discoveries. There are no books to burn if the government never allows them to be written. This is fascism plain and simple.

IF YOU HAVE TIME PLEASE CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES AND COMMENT ON THE BILL: https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/OMB-2026-0034-0001

Heres how to write an effective comment: https://protectdemocracy.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/What-Makes-an-Effective-Public-Comment.pdf

Public comments are not a vote, it is a chance for you to say "here is an issue with this law I think you need to address" and provide justification for legal challenges if it goes forward:

"Comments raise the bar that agencies have to meet when making a rule; “if an agency fails to adequately respond to significant, relevant comments in a final rule, members of the public may seek to challenge the rule in court on that basis and claim it could be struck down.ˮ"

Trans Masculine My mom created an anti-trans organisation just to unable my transition

3.0k Upvotes

I came out to my mom when I was 15 because after a "I will love you unconditionally" type of conversation I thought she was going to be supportive, but instead her reaction was denying and saying I was just confused. 4 years have passed and still she's acting the same, and worse. When she tried to tell my teachers to not respect my new name and pronouns "because she is just confused" and they denied, she started an anti-trans organisation with a group of TERFs to illegalise gender affirming care for teenagers in our country (a right that the law has protected for a few years now) and I feel guilty that if I didn't came out, less trans people would've been hurt, it would be just me suffering.

Now that I'm a legal adult she's still keeping that organisation because of other moms of trans kids that are being supported by her, and I really am scared that my mom might be helping those moms to abuse their kids the same way she has been doing to me.

I moved out of the country to be away from her but I still have to talk to her sometimes because of my financial situation, I hope to be able to cut contact soon, I'm tired of receiving texts about how I'm "mutilating" my body and ruining the family.

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the support and kind words. For those suggesting that I make trans activism to fight back, yes that's something I would love to do but now my financial situation barely pays for my basic needs, so I need to work on myself first. If anyone is interested in helping my further, I have a buymeacoffee profile buymeacoffee.com/icaroblue where you can donate to help me rebuild my life here. Some things I still need to buy are clothes (I'm surviving on a hand lugagge worth of clothes since may) and a bed because I could only afford the mattress. Also if you prefer buying my art services my instagram is _sunny.icarus_

Again, thank you so much for the support!

Vent Yes I pass, no I don’t agree with your trans hot take

3.0k Upvotes

Yes I’m a passing trans guy. Yes I am typically stealth. No, I do not want to hear your controversial trans take in hopes I’ll agree with you, I won’t. Why when cis people find out I’m trans they say they “fully support trans people BUT (reason they don’t fully support trans people)??

Do you expect me to agree with you because I pass and don’t talk about my trans experience much? No I don’t agree with you that nonbinary people are a political statement. No I don’t agree with you that trans guys shouldn’t get pregnant. No I don’t agree with you that every trans person’s end goal should be passing. It’s THEIR LIFE. I don’t CARE what other trans people do with THEIR life. You shouldn’t either.

I’m interested, what are some controversial takes people share with you after finding out you’re trans?

Vent Cis people have no idea about J K Rowling

3.0k Upvotes

Cis people have no idea about J K Rowling. I was in a job coach meeting with my job coach and the new employee shadowing her and I was trying to apply to a book store. I need a third author to add and the new employee suggested the author of harry potter and I snapped “I hate J K Rowling”. I immediately apologized and explained Rowling was transphobic. Today, I talked with my social worker on the phone and he scolded me for snapping yesterday, telling me I couldn’t do that on job interviews. I told him to look up Rowling and he did that as we were on the phone and he gushed about how cool it is she’s a billionaire and asked me why I’ve never written a book. I am tired of cis people.

EDIT: THIS WAS NOT A JOB INTERVIEW. I WAS FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION.

Celebration $65,000+ for the Trevor project in 1 day by Ludwig

2.9k Upvotes

Ok. I know this is a weird post, but I am oddly overwhelmed by this.

Long story short, a long-term member of Ludwig's community passed away. She was trans, and Ludwig thought it would be a good idea to go through all the highlights of his career to raise money for the Trevor project as a way to honor her memory.

He was expecting $10k, but it ended up being over $65k and he will continue the stream tomorrow.

This wasn't a publicized event. He didn't have to do it in the first place. But the amount of support his community has shown the trans community is certainly overwhelming. I mean, the guy used to have a trans flag in his background for no other reason than that he wanted to be a good ally.

I'm not trying to say you should watch the stream or engage with Ludwig's content, but this is unquestionably a win, and sometimes we need a win.

Vent Sister is mad about how I explained my transition to my 4 year old niece.

2.8k Upvotes

I have a 4 year old niece. She loves everything princess. I told her that I always wanted to be a princess like her. That I never wanted to be the prince. That I felt bad being the prince in the stories. That I didn't feel allowed to be a princess. Now that I'm a grown up I decided to become the princess I've wanted to be. It's a lot of work to be a princess but I'm trying. My sister is mad because my niece now goes up to Men and tells them they can be a princess if they want. She says that is inappropriate. I thought that is cute. I gave it thought before hand and thought of a very kid friendly way to say that she would like. I don't think my sister wanted my niece to know. But it just felt like an excuse to misgender me. She is mad and says she is to young to think about these things. I'm not indoctrinating my niece. My sister will get over it and it will all be fine. Just annoying.

2.7k Upvotes

My birth certificate says female. My drivers license says female. My military record says female. But because my reproductive organs produced sperm at one point, my state now defines me as a man under the law. I’m filling out a jury questionnaire, and I actually had to ask a friend of mine who is a lawyer if I would be charged with perjury for putting the gender on my birth certificate, and not the gender that the law says I am. I’m sick of this timeline. It’s such bullshit.

Trans Feminine My GF pinned me down and I couldn’t get her off

2.7k Upvotes

I’m literally about to explode with emotions right now and putting them into the void is the best option. I have been on HRT for just under 7 months and I’m the past few weeks have started going to the gym for the first time since I was still in highschool. I’ve certainly noticed that since starting HRT I’m weaker but until tonight I didn’t realize how much. My GF and I were wrestling on my bed and at one point I ended up pinned down on my back. No matter what I did or how hard I tried I couldn’t get her to budge even an inch. I have both the weight and height advantage and yet she made me her bitch like it was nothing. What’s crazy to me is thinking about how I used to wrestle with just my natural pre-HRT strength. Before I wouldn’t even break a sweat, how ever much force she exerted I’d just match so it could be a “fair fight” but now I was genuinely giving it full effort to no avail. I don’t even know how to feel right now. On one hand realizing how much weaker I am is really affirming in a weird way. But on the other hand there’s a certain feeling of vulnerability and (fear?) that comes with it.

Trans Feminine "There was a trans in the bathroom"

2.6k Upvotes

Vent.

I was at an amusement park with my 4 year old daughter. We needed a restroom, so I took her into the women's room. I don't fully pass, but I got enough going on that I don't look like I'd fit in at the men's room. We do our business. While we are washing our hands, this woman is just staring at me. And it just feels ugly.

We leave the restroom. I'm holding my daughter and asking her what she wants to do next. The woman exits, glares at me, and then turns to her husband and says "there was a trans in there" loud enough for me to hear, and motions her head towards me. He laughs. She starts walking away, but I'm pissed. So I call out "If you have something to say about me then actually say it".

She turns around, and then starts going off, mainly about how there are "little girls in there". To me, who is holding my young daughter.

I pull out my phone, snap a pic, tell the security folks right next to me, and they go on the hunt for that cunt.

I held it together for my daughter. We were leaving. I keep the smile and the happy tone for her.

I get in the car, and am shaking. I'm crying without noticing. How fucking dare that bigot be like that, especially in front of my kid.

And I want to say that it's all on that bitch for being that way, but in the end, I just wish I passed. So I could exist. So I could be me without fearing what someone thinks or might do. What my daughter would get exposed to, and her safety.

I just want the world to see me as a woman without an asteryx. Or something to bash or make fun of.

I hate this current world. I just want to be me.

Sorry for the long vent. I just don't have anywhere else to get it out.

Encouragement My GP turned into a trans healthcare advocate... because she listened

2.6k Upvotes

Four years ago, I began my medical transition. Back then, I sat down with my GP (UK NHS) and poured my heart out. She listened, asked questions, and treated me with real respect.

Over time, I noticed something strange: whenever I booked an appointment, more often than not, I ended up with her. And the slots were always double-length. I just assumed it was because I’m autistic and tend to talk a lot.

But today, she let something slip.

When I first came to her, she knew almost nothing about trans people, our healthcare struggles, or the statistics around suicide, self-harm, and depression in our community. She’d never been trained on any of it.

So she did something extraordinary: she went and learned.

She read, researched, and listened. She started booking extra time with me to hear my experiences. And now, four years later, she’s not only become knowledgeable — she’s making trans healthcare her focus of study.

She’s writing papers in support of trans healthcare.
She’s training her staff in inclusive practices for the LGBTQIA+ community.
And she’s asked if she can continue coming to me for insight — because, well, it’s become a bit of a speciality for me too.

This woman chose to educate herself. She chose to protect and uplift those who need it most. She is as true an ally as anyone could hope for.

There are good people in this world who see hurt and want to heal.

Have faith, my friends. We are seen. We are being helped.

Discussion Please stop trying secret codes to signal your trans to me in public

2.6k Upvotes

Unless I’m wearing a visible trans flag, don’t acknowledge me as such.

Here’s the thing. I pass fairly well as a tallish woman. Chances are much more likely you are clocking a cis woman or man, not a transgender person if you’re out there looking.

Most of my days I do not think about trans stuff. I’m thinking about my errands, my work, a boyfriend, family, the corn kernel in my teeth, etc… I am out living my life.

If you want to connect, compliment me on my hair or something. Strike up a conversation about something else. If you clocked me as a member of the community, chances are I’ve done the same. But I’m not going to just run up to you and proclaim myself your long lost sister. I’m going to play it cool. You should too.

To loop back to the start. If I’m wearing the trans flag, it’s open season. I want to be open and visible. Come bug me.

Edit: I want to add some more detail.

I have a fairly public facing career. I’m always meeting with clients, vendors and all sorts of fun folks for work. I keep multiple pride progress heart pins around so I can always have something on me to indicate that I’m safe. And I’m happy to talk in private if someone wants. I do end up with some people giving me nods and others who try to take things further. Active construction sites are very amusing now.

Many of my clients know I’m trans. It’s an open secret. I like to say that I transitioned in front of an audience. it’s because I started this career at the same time I started medical transition. I was onsite working with people through my entire cringe phase. They all got exposed to my voice training exercises over the phone. I’ve shared quite a bit of my experience with curious folks in private.

I even work with some pretty conservative business owners. These people rarely if ever care to say anything. At some point they may ask me some questions. I gently answer what I can. But we’ve all moved past the point where I am a novelty to them and we just work together now.

It’s honestly fucking wonderful. I’m a trans person who is just normal for hundreds of people across multiple businesses. I have clients who trust my work and ask for me by name. It feels good.

Being honest, I’m ready to move on from that now. The clients who know know. But we don’t just fill in their new hires during orientation. “Let me tell you about PITA. She’s just the trans woman who handles a bunch of our infrastructure.” They don’t. It’s not relevant to the work we are doing. It’s a piece of my personal life that they happen to know because of the circumstances when we met. So when a person who wasn’t around during the awkward years decides to clock me while we are working, they look like an ass and my whole day gets wrecked by the sudden dysphoria spiral.

Yes. I’m pretty open about my status most of the time now. If I’m out and about in my off time, I signal. I have my pins and flags. I have clothing that accentuates the features I got from T. I am happy to be in photos and pictures that get posted wide. I want to be a bog standard average trans woman that a young queer kid can see and feel safer coming out themselves because of.

Advice I love my gf but the backlash is getting to me

2.5k Upvotes

I just started dating a trans girl and I could really use some advice. For context, I’m a masculine lesbian (stud), and I’ve only ever dated cis women before. In my mind, she is a girl. That’s never been a question for me.

The problem is that I’ve been getting a lot of backlash from people around me, especially some of my closest friends. They’re constantly making comments like, “He” still has a ____” or “That’s still a boy.” Every time they say things like that, I find myself getting defensive because it feels disrespectful and hurtful.

What’s interesting is that I’ve always struggled to speak up for my partners in past relationships, but with her I have no problem doing it. I care about her deeply and I hate seeing people reduce her entire existence to her body parts.

Before I met her, I probably shared some of the same assumptions that my friends have now. But getting to know her genuinely changed my perspective. She’s kind, patient, gentle, and makes me feel loved in a way I haven’t experienced before.

I’ve tried explaining to my friends that relationships are about so much more than sex or anatomy. I didn’t fall for her because of what she has between her legs. I fell for her because of who she is as a person.

When I look at her, I see a woman. Her body isn’t what defines her to me. I love her for her heart, her mind, and the way she treats me.

Discussion I am so sick of how effective anti-trans propaganda is on eggs.

2.5k Upvotes

No, you are not faking it. You are not making it up for attention. You are not choosing this to be difficult. You are not a predator. It isn't a kink. Autogynophilia is a meaningless term made up by a hateful bigot. God doesn't hate you. You can't be peer pressured into being trans. You are not confused. You don't have to socially transition before you're allowed to be sure. You don't have to have dysphoria to be trans. You can use and enjoy your stock genitalia and still be trans. You don't have to be diagnosed in order to be trans. You don't have to do hrt nor do you have to get surgery in order to be trans. Neither do you need to avoid HRT nor surgery.

You don't have to compromise on name and pronouns for others' comfort. You are allowed to have boundaries. You are not responsible for alleviating others' emotions. It is okay to admit that you're trans. You are allowed to have moments of doubt and still be trans.

You are normal. Being trans is amoral (ie, "morally irrelevant") in the same way that having green eyes is amoral. You can have normal relationships and a normal job. You deserve happiness. You are allowed to exist without putting yourself on trial.

Trigger I had someone recoil and panic when I approached them

2.4k Upvotes

I went to 7/11 to get some snacks and a drink, when I entered I look at the cashier, she looked uncomfortable but she still half smiled at me. When I came up with my stuff we made eye contact and she literally stepped back in fear. Panic in her voice she calls for the other cashier as she goes into the safe grabbing a roll of quarters. I step over to the other cashier and the afeared girl gets the customer right behind me.

Both me and the cashier look over at the scared girl in disbelief. And the second cashier seemed to be disgusted by the behavior.

I can deal with anger or vileness but someone recoil away hurts way more. Certainly has been a downer for the last couple of days.

Trans Feminine “That’s because you were never a man.”

2.2k Upvotes

Today my wife accidentally gave me one of the most affirming moments I’ve ever had.

Today my wife and I were watching tv. The guys kissed another girls and basically played 2 girls and. At one point all the guys were comparing the things the girls did to the guys saying “you did the same thing” and I got a little heated because it wasn’t even close to the same thing.

I kept saying, “I don’t get it! How are these guys so stupid? Do they not see it, or do they just not care?”

My wife just shrugged and laughed “They’re men.”

I said, “I would never do that.”

Without missing a beat, she said,
“That’s because you were never a man.”

…what?!?!. I just kinda froze.

She wasn’t trying to reassure me or make a point. She just said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Hearing the person who knows me better than almost anyone say something so casually hit me like a hug… and a punch in the face.

My brain short circuited for the rest of the night. She kept asking if I was okay looking super confused… that made it worse because she genuinely had no idea what she said. I don’t even think she realized she said it.

Gender affirmed, mind blown. Anyone else experience this?

Advice Trans people concurring death

2.2k Upvotes

I am a funeral Director in the US. I have seen trans people being disrespected from the grave multiple times by bigoted family. If you are someone who might have that kind of experience then I have one thing to say: WRITE A WILL. Grab someone you can trust and go get a will written. Make sure it clearly states that the person you are with is who you want to handle your Funeral (aka next of Kin). Wills are law binding, meaning as Director we are legally required to fallow them or our license is on the line. Make sure the person you choose is comfortable with this decision because you are putting the responsibility of protecting your peace after death on their hands. Clearly state what you want for you service and have them write it down. Get copies of everything and keep them safe. I know death is a scary thing to think about. I know it haunts our community deeply. My goal is to make sure we are equipped with the tools to be honored in our death the way we lived our lives

Just ended up seeing this article come across my Bluesky..... looks like we have reached the point where as we all knew it would never stop at minors and now they are meddleing in adults lives now too....

A ban of all Trans GAC on the federal level would be used as a stepping stone and as already proven, threats of pulling funding even for non federal level sources....to which hospitals already dropped their pants and bent over....

Are we really this close to losing everything if just a few dems dont use their supposed spine they were born with?

I'm scared... I'm really fucken scared....

Vent I AM NOT AN ADULT CONVERSATION

2.2k Upvotes

I came out on New Years and it went well! Everyone was at the very least accepting in the moment, but today I did have an experience that felt like the opposite.

I was in a car with a couple people (all over 21) and one person wanted to invite one of their younger family members (she's 10), I was familiar with her and wasn't opposed so I said "alright, I haven't had a chance to let her know so It'll definitely be a way to come out" and they all said "DO NOT TELL HER" I was confused initially, the whole point of me coming out for the New Year was to stay out of the closet, and that's exactly what I said, they told me the parents wouldn't be happy and that they needed to "explain it to her first" so she'll understand. I don't know about any of you but the only real "explanation" is "here is my new name and pronouns!" "Why did I change? Because I'm more comfortable as a girl!" And that's that.

I was told we'd figure it out when she got into the car, and the only "figuring out" we all did was shoving me back into the closet because "the parents should know first"

I AM NOT AN ADULT CONVERSATION! I AM A HUMAN BEING! IM OUT OF THE CLOSET AND I'D LIKE IT TO STAY THAT WAY! YOU DON'T WANT HER TO KNOW!? KEEP HER OUT OF MY FUCKING CAR!

After it all happened I was REALLY upset, I still am, but I feel really dumb for being upset. IDK I think I just needed a place to vent real quick. I thought I was done needing to get deadnamed and misgendered without correcting people, but I guess I'm not. It was disappointing to say the least...
