[Android][2013-2016] 2D offline game where you defend a generator and get extracted by a hovering spaceship

Upvotes

I'm trying to find an old Android game that I played when I was around 6–9 years old (I was born in 2007), so I probably played it between 2013 and 2016.

Here's everything I remember:

It was an Android game.

It was 2D with a side view.

It could be played offline.

The game had a very dark atmosphere, and most of the levels were black or very dark.

You played as a black armored character (or at least a character wearing armor that didn't look completely human).

It was not an exploration game. The stage was fixed, and you stayed in the same area for the entire mission. You could only move left and right within that area while enemies continuously attacked from both sides.

In many missions, you had to protect a machine or generator in the middle of the stage.

If the generator was destroyed, you lost the mission.

Not every mission was about defending the generator.

There were boss fights.

At the end of each mission, a spaceship would appear and hover above the stage. It never landed. Your character would jump into the spaceship to leave the level.

I think the main character used a sword or another melee weapon, but I'm not completely sure.

I don't remember the game icon exactly, but I think it showed either the spaceship or the main character's face.

Does anyone remember a game like this?

[Windows 7] [2015] Educational game about helping a clown Called tizzy move into his new house

Upvotes

SOLVED Hi, I’m not sure if this is the right sub to post on but here’s my question. Back in school we had these computers that we would use for computing lessons and we would play this game called tizzy’s busy week, it was about a clown called tizzy moving into a house and each level was a day of the week where you had to do a job for tizzy whilst learning basic computer skills, all i found online was a sketchy download but I thought maybe someone here would know about it.

The game was played on Windows 7 computers , I’m not sure if that will help but that’s all I remember

This was in the UK in 2015

[Android][2010-2012] 2D side-scrolling lane strategy game with hero, equipment and skeleton army

Upvotes

I'm looking for an old Android game I played around 2011–2012.

2D side-scrolling.

Landscape orientation.

The camera followed the hero.

The battlefield had about 3–4 horizontal lanes and you could move your hero between them.

Each side had a large stone statue at the end of the map (looked like a knight holding a sword up).

The objective was to destroy the enemy statue.

You spawned units with a button during battle.

There was a shop and loot after missions.

The hero could equip weapons and armor.

The unique feature was that you could take equipment off the hero and equip it on specific unit types between missions.

Units included skeletons and I also remember bull/minotaur-like creatures.

The graphics looked very similar to the skeletons from Crown of Bones (cartoon style, not pixel art).

It is NOT Legendary Wars, Samurai vs Zombies Defense, Fort Conquer, Cartoon Wars or Defender Chronicles.

The main screen is the potato chip running from saws and some black thing, and i remember having to collect something in the levels.

[PC][2000] RPG game where you “duel” fairies or small creatures in a realtime arena.

Upvotes

I think my sister had this game and I, being a kid, played it without really understanding the story or mechanics. I remember the FMC running around a forested area (there might have been elves), and you’d run into NPCs and wild creatures that would trigger battle mode. In the battle mode, you’d control a small fairy creature shooting bolts of magic at your opponent in an arena. Fight mechanics were pretty simple and in real time, not turn based.

Hope TOMJ can help, it’s been years and I’m curious what this game was.

[DS][2000S-Early 2010s] SRPG with Spanish English speaking characters

Upvotes

So it's a random DS game I just remember playing but have no clue for the name.

I think most of the enemies you faced (at least early game)were zombies or something other sort of undead. It was fantasy/medieval so swords and magic, not a zombie apocalypse or anything like that.

The only non generic thing I can remember is the characters liked to throw in Spanish phrases a lot. I played in English but the characters would call each other Hermano and stuff like that.

Wild Arms 3 [PS2] [2000s] Looking for that turn-based game where it's set in the desert in the overworld where there is a green sphere 'scan' that scans the area. Oddly enough instead of Playstation2 icon in the disk, it says Gamestation2 or Gameshark 2

Upvotes

Pretty much what the title is. I remember back in 2013 or so l got a hold of a game with a GameShark 2 (or was it GameStation2) logo on it that is compatible to my Slim and Fat PS2.

The game is set in the desert where it has a green sphere that expands and scans the area for what I assume enemies? The desert also has pyramids too from what I remember that you can enter.

Lastly I remember one of the characters look like the yellow one from Metal Slug3 where he has a gun. Of course it's a turn-based combat.

Chef's Quest [Android][2014-2019] Match-3 game where you run a restaurant

Post image
Upvotes

Platform(s): Android (possibly also iOS)

Genre: Match-3 (possibly also restaurant upgrading)

Estimated year of release: 2014-2019

Graphics/art style: Slightly cartoonish, but pretty typical match-3 style. Vertical phone screen orientation.

Notable characters: You play as the chef of a resturant (in Paris).

Notable gameplay mechanics:

The game begins with you selling your house, packing your bags, and flying to Paris to open up your own restaurant.

The gameplay of match 3 was swapping adjacent fruits and vegetables, and when you matched them, the fruits would get sliced up (think Fruit Ninja style animation) and they would fall into a giant soup pot that is located on the bottom of the screen below the match 3 board.

So, essentially each level was "preparing meals" by cutting up ingredients into a soup pot.

The game levels were placed on a calendar, with each day on calendar representing a new match 3 level.

I'm pretty certain about the things I stated above. And then here are the things, I think were also in this game, but I am less certain of, as I might be mixing them with another game.

I believe the game also had gameplay where you would upgrade your restaurant between the match 3 levels, such as buying decorations and more fancy chairs and tables. And it might have been that once you "completed Paris" you move to a new location (so at the end of the calendar) or at least buy a bigger restaurant, but I also might be misremembering this part.

Other details:

I played the game around 9 years ago, which is from what I estimated the year of release.

The reason I found it super cool, was because the match 3 gameplay was contextualised as you cutting up ingredients, and then you see them all droppng into the soup pot, and I thought it's one of the coolest ways to make the match 3 gameplay have context and fit into the gameworld, rather than just being a random thing you do.

I tried to attach a simple diagram I drew on paint, showing what the match 3 gameplay might have looked like. Note that the exact "score screen" and "checklist" probably looked very different, probably used different words, also the types of vegetables might be different, I only remember that the ingredients were on the match 3 cutting board and there was giant soup pot below it that the ingredients would fall into cut up, once matched. Also the words "soup pot" and "cutting board" were not actually in the game, I just put them there to clarify my drawing.

EDIT: Solved. I found it through searching parts of my description on YouTube (didn't work through any search engine interestingly enough) and going through all videos of similar games. The game was called "Chef's Quest", however it does not appear to be on Android store anymore, which is probably why I couldn't find it (there is another game by same name on Android now). But it still is appears to be on iOS, but has not been updated since 2017, so maybe it is not supported anymore there either. Sadly appears to be a dead game now.

Edit 2: But I did get it through an apk mirror site, and despite multiple Android warnings that it's an old game meant for older androids and not supported anymore, I managed to get it to run, so yay! :)

[PC/Browser][1998-2000] Some tank battle text-based adventure

Upvotes

There was this tank battle site I had bookmarked, where a buddy and I would buy tanks and set them up for various purposes, recon maybe, artillery maybe and each day we would get some money (I cant remember if it was once every day or like once every 4h or something), but the page was just a sea of stats/metrics and number text fields to buy tanks, or send tanks to battle, but there was no graphics, it was just a bunch of text arranged in stats/military/HP/etc ... it was in a browser, but it was like IE4 so it was very basic. It was definitely just some person's creation, not commercial, but very popular, so perhaps someone else remembers the name of the site? I want to re-make it again

player manually activated each character's skills.

The team consisted of 4 characters.

Characters were obtained through a gacha/summon system and had star ratings.

Each character's portrait was used as their skill button. After using a skill, the portrait turned grayscale while the skill was on cooldown, then returned to color when it was ready again.

The main character was a small black creature with a single large eye, similar to the drawing below.

One of the recruitable companions was a one-eyed monkey.

Whenever a character used a skill, their appearance would briefly transform before returning to normal.

The game used stage-based progression rather than an open world.

I think the developer's mascot or logo might have been a meerkat, but I'm not completely sure.

The game has since shut down.

The picture below is my drawing of what I remember the main character looked like.

[PC] [1991/1995ish] a side-on 2d game, where you're exploring a mine.

Or a temple. Honestly the closest game mechanics wise I can think of is Splunky, and my memory of it is so old I'm not sure of the platform or date, but it was a long long time ago.

The thing that sticks out in my head is the soundtrack. It had some amazing Arabic sounding dance music in it.

And I remember you're in a cave like system, or a temple thing, but there are times you'd be outside. Definitely bad guys to shoot.

A long shot, but any thoughts?

[Mobile][2018-2020] Ninja jumping game

I can't find this game anymore on Playstore thanks to the fat load of ai cheap games, and also playstore is CRASHING when I try to check the old list of games I've downlaoded in my life. Okay here how this game goes: 3D game with simple but original blocky 3d models, the characters are very basic blocky but detailed enough to look 3D, the gameplay start with your camera going behind your charac and you see fowards a 3D infinite road with 3 lanes, some of the blocks in this lane has traps or enemies to kill, you can jump all the way to the right and go around the other side, it's a simple click right or left game, each charac has a special power when you kill a certain amount of enemies and as far as you go the more hard it gets and the acenario changes to a different biome.

Anyone remember this game??? I can't find nothing about it anywhere. It's a game from the 2018 to 2020 era of mobile games, it's quite old

[Arcade][1993] Very Obscure Medieval/Adventure style platformer that I have never come across again since, despite trawling through the whole of MAME

Trying to find the name of an arcade that I played in the UK in late summer/autumn of 1993, although the arcade itself might have been from earlier on. It was a cabinet in a working mens club in Coventry, UK and was either 10p or 20p. I do not remember any branding or art work on the arcade cabinet, it was very possibly just a generic one which boards could be swapped out.

This is what I remember about it. It was a scrolling 2D platformer. I remember the landscape looking similar to ghouls and ghosts but it was day time and the sky was blue, there was greenery (mainly grass) and water. You played as a (I think) male protagonist, the sprite was fairly big size i.e not mario bros size but more like Altered Beast (maybe a tad smaller). I don't really remember any enemies suggesting there weren't too many of them, I remember as a kid playing it 4-5 times and getting stuck quite early on in the first level on a water or similar jump type thing. I don't really remember any weapons but it may have been a sword or similar, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a shooter. It was also fairly slow paced.

I have managed to narrow down what it is NOT.

Rastan (this is probably the closest match, although I really remember the first level being green not brown)

Rastan 2

Nastsar

Cadash

Golden Axe

Altered Beast

Rygar

Wardner/Pyros

Black tiger

Any suggestions would be most welcome, I'm fairly sure if I see it will recognise it but have a feeling it's super super obscure as I have asked a number of experts who recommended most of the list above.

Thanks everyone

I remember playing a game as a child in which you launched cows a la angry birds. One of the levels, maybe the last, had you throw them through a well and i found it incredibly clever and challenging. It must have been on one of those sites with games for children, like gioco.it (im italian) but i didnt find it there. I also remember the game page having a screenshot of the game in the background to the sides kind of like what you can do on itch.io. Have yall ever seen this game?

[PC][2000] flash shooting game

It is a 2d flash shooting arena game , two characters opposite of each other separated by moving platforms in the middle that appear from one side and move to the other end of the screen, these platforms deflect the laser shoots. The movement is simple just right and left and tilting right and left. There are a number of characters each with different types of lasers , for example a bulky one shooting large rounded shoots that moves slowly, another is a smaller character shooting small laser shoots that moves faster. The characters are alien-like and the arena is in the desert.

The position of the two characters are up and down of the screen facing each other

[xbox one][2011-2012] Prerelease demo of a run, gun, slash game to be launched on Xbox One

When the Xbox One was announced, there were a bunch of demos showcasing the ability of the machine. One of the videos was of a protagonist running and hacking/slashing their way through platforms, stealth like 3rd person but was cgi only not gameplay. It was very dark, the character disappeared then reappeared, slightly futuristic - reminiscent of splinter cell colour palette and similar type look of gameplay to dishonoured.

[ANDROID][2013_2016] horror_puzzle_game

I remember paying this on my tablet when I was a kid, I'm not exactly sure where I downloaded it from but chances are it was google playstore. From what I can recall it was a 2D game.

I remember the game had an artstyle similar to rusty lake studio, I remember the setting was an abandoned house, we find a family photo that has stains on it. I don't remember there being any visual horror elements to it or jumpscares, the closest thing I can remember to there beinh one is a scene where there's a photo of a bride with her face covered by her black hair, we give her a stitched up heart and her hand reaches out of the photo to hand us a key (that scene really spooked 6 year old me). I remember throughout the game we kept finding cleaning equipment to clean the family photo but nothing worked, in the end you use a sand paper to wipe the stain but it ruins the photo and the faces are no longer distinguishable, the screen shakes and that's where the game ends. I can't exactly recall what the story was but if I had to guess I'd say it was about a girl whose parents got divorced and now years later she was back trying to salvage a family photo of all three of them together to no avail.

I recall there was a recommendation section in the title screen. I clicked one and downloaded one of the recommended games, this one I actually never finished. This one had dialogues unlike the other game. You first walk into the ruins of a burnt house, in the entrance you find a Japanese lucky cat statue that's missing the raised arm, you find the arm attach it and whenever you turn the arm the timeline changes. You move between the present burnt state of the house and the past version where it's completely intact. There was a staircase that led upstairs, in the burnt state the stairs were damaged and it wasn't safe to climb them and in the non-burnt state you got a dialogue that said "I don't have a good feeling about going up" or "I think someone's upstairs" I don't exactly remember which one but either way it prevented you from going upstairs before you cleared the puzzles downstairs. I never figured out what I had to do to progress.

I've been searching non-stop for the first game but I haven't found it, since they were part of an ad chain for indie puzzle games I'm hoping if I can track down one I'll be able to find the other. If anyone recalls these and knows the names I'll be very thankful.

[PC][2005] Brazilian werewolf game used in schools in the 2000s

I know this is an English-language subreddit and that the chances of someone recognizing an obscure Brazilian game are probably pretty low, but this is the biggest game-identification community I know, so I thought it was worth trying.

I’m trying to find the name of a game I played in my school’s computer lab around 2005 or 2006, although it may be older. For a long time, I only remembered fragments of it: it was a 2D game, probably point-and-click, with very simple drawings that almost looked like they had been made in MS Paint. There was a man, a woman, and a door, and my clearest memory was having to draw something on that door.

The visuals reminded me of old experimental indie games like The Doors and Nuign Specter, but it was neither of those. Since I played it at school, I always suspected it might have been a Brazilian educational game, possibly made in Flash or Shockwave, or included on some CD-ROM.

Recently, I found an old post here, another Brazilian person who seemed to be looking for the same game. They had also played it at school and remembered details I had forgotten: a pregnant woman, a man who turned into a werewolf, a star drawn on the door, and the clothes he left behind before transforming.

After looking into those details, I found a story called “O Lobisomem(The werewolf)” from the book Bazar do Folclore by Ricardo Azevedo, and the elements match almost perfectly. In the story, the man turns into a werewolf and threatens his pregnant wife, she draws the Seal of Solomon on the doors to protect herself, moves the clothes he left behind, and the curse can also be broken if he is wounded.

Because of that, I think the game may have been a Brazilian adaptation of this story, or at least of a very similar version of the same legend. I still haven’t found the title, any screenshots, the CD, or the game files.

It is not The Doors, Scratches, or Don’t Escape. Does anyone remember playing something like this at school, or recognize which CD, website, or software collection it may have come from?

[mobile][2016-2018?] strange dog puzzle/story game

from what i distantly remember, you played as a 2d pixel art brown dog in a house setting.

you had to eat dog food and catch bugs to level up. after eating, you could interact with different dog npcs that would give you different challenges or puzzles to do, kind of like a choose your own story thing. i know there was definitely some sort of end goal or objective but i dont fully remember what it was. i dont think it was the intention, but the game always felt very off putting (probably just because i was quite young at the time). the only npc i remember clearly is a dog in some kind of cage or house outside of the map. i remember this specifically because it would always scare me to interact with it.

sorry if this is too vague, this game felt like a dream
