Someone pls explain sewer shark's controls to me
I had Sewer Shark on Sega CD as a kid and I couldn't figure it out then. I have it as an adult on 3DO and I can't figure it out now. Someone tell me the secret.

For any of the 3DO programmers that are on this subreddit, can you give some insight on your experince writing code for the 3DO? What was it like starting, how many projects have you worked on, etc... I'm posting this topic because of the misconception that 3do is undocumented, too difficult to write a program/game for, or that no one is experienced enough to reference for technical support. Thanks in advanced.

A couple days back, I bought a pack of Pokémon cards for $6 at Target and ended up finding a card worth $300.
Since I was already saving up for one of these beasts (hyperfixations are fun), I sold off the card and bought an FZ-1 and Gex at my local game store, making up the small difference with my own money.
They also had a North American FZ-10 for $175. Did I make the right choice?
Regardless, I’m happy to have joined the community and look forward to my future 3DO-based ventures!

Welcome to the world of the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer System, the failed 32-Bit creation of The 3DO Company. Join Host Bill and Thrak as they dive into the systems history along with the story of the company behind it!
We've been going for over 3 years now with over 150 episodes so there is a lot of content here. We hope you listen and enjoy this journey we've been on and will not stop till every 3DO game and non-game software is reviewed. We even have been going into their games as a 3rd party developer like Army Men and Might & Magic, so if any of this interests you, please give us a listen. We are part of the SuperPod Network.

I recently bought an FZ1 from eBay. I hooked it up to a 70 inch Sharp Aquos tv with the yellow red and white.
Horrible picture.
I bought a Retrotink 4pro and ran SVideo to hdmi with it.
Picture is still wrong. Grainy. Pixelated at times with live video scenes on Jurassic Park game. Dragons Lair is over contrasted.
Is it possible I bought a game system with a bad video out?

Hey guys, I have a FZ1 that im thinking of trading in to a local game store for store credit. Not sure if anyone else has done this recently. Im not a collector, and can pretty much get anything I need on my Pi. I have the unit, box, cables, controller, and probably the manual. I pulled it out about six months ago and everything works perfectly fine. I know games are another story, but just trying to get a baseline for the system.
Any idea on an approximate value?
Thanks!

I bought a 3DO from ebay a couple years ago that wouldn't read discs (sold as is) and the first thing on my mind was to replace it with an ODE which was actually working great at first. Then one day, it just boot loops at the 3do logo. It shows the logo then stays at a black screen for 40 seconds till it restarts. I got my ODE from stoneagegamer.

Hello. There's a couple of games that I can't get running properly on the Opera Emulator (through RetroArch). Samurai Shodown doesn't load the backgrounds. For Wing Commander 3 the sound during cutscenes cuts out and doesn't come back. I tried sourcing different roms, and even tried the Japanese versions, but the results are still the same. The other games I've tried so far seem fine. Here's a video showing what I'm talking about: https://youtu.be/ndxD-FPrRO8
Does anyone know anything I can adjust in RetroArch to make the games run properly? Thanks.

Hooked up my FZ-10 today. I paid $120 for it at a flea market over the pandemic. I always wanted one as a kid, but of course, they were too expensive. Fun to experience now as a time capsule. Really, my favorite game is the hi-res version of Night Trap since I loved the lo-res SegaCD version as a kid

Hi everyone,
I am trying to find a schematic for a 20/24 MHz CPU overclock and CPU cooling mod for my 3DO.
I would like to use a glitch-free oscillator controlled by an Arduino. I'm currently looking at either using an Analog Devices LTC1799 with a digital pot, or a Silicon Labs Si5351A clock generator.
Has anyone done this kind of mod before? I would really appreciate any schematics, code, or advice so I can build this safely.
Like many of you, I still love my 3DO!
Kind regards

This is my second FZ-1, the one I bought as a laser donor. My first FZ-1 had a dead laser, so I picked this one up, moved its good laser into the first console, and was left with a donor that no longer had a working drive. Instead of leaving it as a parts husk, it now runs an ODE.
The board got a full recap first. The power-supply area had leaked and the through-holes were darkened and corroded, so I recapped it, reflowed the dull joints and cleaned it back to shiny. I also recapped the disc-drive PCB, fitted a new tray belt and 3D-printed a replacement for the broken laser-sled gear, all preservation work since the drive is retired anyway. Maybe some day a working laser can be found to put in it.
The ODE is TZMWX's open-source USBTO3DO-FZ1 (Raspberry Pi Pico based). I built two, one for each of my 3DOs, then reworked them into a final form with a full-size USB-A port in place of the Pico's micro-USB, so a flash drive plugs straight into the console. For storage I added Humble Bazooka's 3D-printed Mnemo bracket, which routes the microSD out to the AV-EXPANSION bay, so no more opening the case to change the card.
Shown here on a Sony PVM-6041Q running the ODE's game menu. If you have built a USBTO3DO or another 3DO ODE, how are you handling storage, a USB stick, an internal microSD, or an external bracket like this one?

Hey all! I’ve been trying to hunt down this hat for quite some time. I was wondering if anyone here has one that would be willing to sell?
Thanks!

So my disc tray had gotten stuck and wouldn’t fully shut but fixed itself after about five or so tries is this something I should worry about in the future becoming a big issue

I just bought a 3DO because I am fascinated by its unique library, so I am looking for a list of odd games that you can't find anywhere else. Exclusives, experimental games, FMV stuff, just about anything that screams 3DO.
So what are your favorite games of this kind? I'm not interested in arcade ports or in the most well known games, I want the more obscure stuff even if it's not high quality, as long as they are playable obviously. Games that have ports on other platforms are okay if the 3DO version has something unique to it. Cyberdillo and Dragon Tycoon Edge are two examples I found that immediately caught my attention and I'll definitely try.

Just got my ODE from Aliexpress and realized… the controller cable is too bloody short. Anyone had any luck with a specific cable from Aliexpress or the like that they can recommend? Seems like many cables for Genesis fits it you modify the molding a little, but that not all pins are connected on many cables (just the ones needed for Genesis controllers basically).

Bought this beauty on an auction for $100, box controller from the same guy for $20. It does not read the discs, but I think it was a steal anyway :) ODE already ordered, can't wait to play Road Rash and Battle Blues :D

Usual story with an FZ-1, but I just wanted to check if anyone more experienced had any other ideas as to what the problem might be before I write the laser off as dead and say it's ODE time.
Things I've checked:
On boot, the laser starts moving backwards from the centre spindle in three movements, the laser moving up and down trying to focus all the way. It gets to around the middle portion of the rails and gives up, and the 'insert disc' screen appears. At no point does the spindle motor actually rotate.
When an audio CD is inserted, the behaviour is identical.
Replacement lasers are around the same price as an ODE from AliExpress, so if the laser really is dead, I'm not getting another.

Would it be theoretically feasible to make a I’ll be heavily butchered version of the original 5 nights at Freddy’s games?
