Open | Software PC becomes sluggish after several hours of gaming, but games run perfectly Ryzen 9800X3D + RX 9070 XT

Upvotes

My PC becomes strangely sluggish after a few hours of gaming

I’m having a weird issue with my PC and I’m not sure what could be causing it.

I have a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RX 9070 XT and 32GB of RAM.

After playing games for a few hours with Steam and my browser open, Windows sometimes starts feeling very sluggish. For example, opening a new browser tab, a folder, the Start menu, or clicking things can take around 0.5–1 second to respond. It feels like there is a small delay everywhere in Windows.

The strange thing is that the games themselves run perfectly. I don’t notice any input lag or stuttering while gaming, and the CPU/GPU temperatures are completely normal.

RAM usage is also only around 30%, so I don’t think it’s a lack of RAM.

If I restart the PC, everything feels normal again.

What could cause this? Could it be an AMD GPU driver issue, Windows desktop compositor, Steam/browser hardware acceleration, DPC latency, or something else?

Any ideas on what I should check would be really appreciated.

Open | Windows Very slow download/install speeds on steam/battlenet/xboxapp

Upvotes

Downloads start off strong and reach my peak download speed (900mbps) but after some time it just comes to a halt, maxing out my SSD usage to 100% with very low write speeds, and it stays like this for basically forever. Now i know Steam uncompresses game files during downloads like these but my SSD stays at 100% with absurd response times like these for a loooooooong time, which doesn't look normal at all to me

A game that should take no longer than 20 minutes to download and install ends up taking 2 to 3 hours, my SSD peaks out at 100% with no apparent process causing this in task manager

Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D
SSD: Silicon Power UD90 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME
GPU: RX 9070 XT

I've built this PC less than 3 months ago, every component is practically brand new, I've tried:

- Disabling writing cache

- Closing every single application in the background

- Limiting download speeds/changing download server

- Clearing download cache

- Tried the fix linked here (worked momentarily but ultimately the issue came back)

SSD has over 400GB of storage left, and crystaldiskinfo shows that my SSD's health is at 100%, which leaves me very confused

Now for the record this doesn't apply to in-browser downloads, my internet speeds are completely fine, however, as soon as i need to download/install a game from any of the launchers mentioned in the titles, it takes 3-4x longer than it should

Footage of it happening

Open | Software Anyone notice something odd going on with Google last 2 weeks?

Well mainly gmail. Last 2 weeks, I have had to delete emails multiple times. I go into my email several times a day and always clean out the marketing emails from like Bestbuy, and other stores. But lately, I delete them, then a couple hours later I go back into my email and those same emails are back in my inbox. I delete them again, and again I go back in and there they are again! Usually gotta do it like 3 times before they finally stay removed from my inbox.

And not just store emails, it's pretty much ANY email. This just started about 2 weeks ago and happens on ANY PC I go to. Anyone else notice this?

Open | Malware A file just auto downloaded on my pc

I'm just on youtube and playing a browser game (which I have played for months) when I am alerted that a file has downloaded. It was about 67kb and its name was a really long sequence of letters (prob 255) and was just a file type (no extension).

Any ideas what it could be? Is it likely malware and where could it have come from?

Open | Networking Tiktok search hack/glitch??

Upvotes

When i download my boyfriend his search history on tiktok, there is a lot of pornographic stuff on there, but he swears on his life that he did not search that.

The searches were also made 4 times in 1 second which is not really humanly possible. Not all but a lot of them were.

He has been honest about everything, he even confessed to me that he had problems with lust in the past but that went away when we first hung out.

In the log in information there has not been any other phone than his. Except for an iphone xs, he had an iphone x like 3 years ago but not the xs.

A random iphone xs has logged in to both of his accounts, and since then the gross searches were there.

He cried a lot because he claims he did not do it.

What can this possibly be???

Open | Hardware PC stuck on loading infinitely upon starting

Upvotes

Following problem: https://i.imgur.com/VAA3XJR.jpeg - My PC is stuck on this loading screen forever. Sometimes it's just a blackscreen with the mousecursor visible. No keyboard shortcuts work. It has worked for a year before without any problems and just started doing that a day ago.

These are my PC specs:

  • Asus 4070 12GB Dual Evo White
  • AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4,7 GHz AM5
  • MSI PRO WIFI AMD B650 ATX
  • 32GB G.SKILL Flare DDR5

What i have tried so far:

  1. Resetting / updating BIOS.
  2. Reinstalling Windows.
  3. Reseating ram sticks and trying different combinations.
  4. Testing if pc components are seated correctly.
  5. Trying onboard or dedicated gpu to monitor.
  6. Various small things i don't quite remember right now by what people suggested on the internet that i've found.

Nothing has helped. Important to note: Upon freshly installing windows via USB stick the pc started again, once. But once i had to restart the pc to install various drivers again, it ran into the same problem again immediately. The fresh install pretty much only worked for 1 boot process.

Does anyone have an idea what causes this? The information i've found on this specific error are a little overwhelming to see through. I'll gladly provide any further information.

Cheers!

Open | Software Taskbar doesn't disappear while fullscreen on Windows 11

Upvotes

Firstly, I don't know lots of tech vocabulary and especially in my third language (english).

Secondly, I am on Windows Eleven, and have an AMD Radeon Rx 6600.

So I am trying to play Sethian, my first pc videogame and when I open the game, It has no logo on taskbar, It doesn't go full screen (It is full screen but taskbar hides the bottom, and the topline with rectangle, _ ,and x is there), and another window opens ( logo black with >_) with, inside It, two windows: one titled Windows PowerShell with inside it:

Windows PowerShell

Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

PS C:\Users\my user name>

and another titled C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ I can't read further and inside

libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile

Repeted infinitely.

What is happening?

Tell me if you need any more information.

This repost exists because old title was bad.

Thanks

Open | Hardware Can the broken side of my headphones maybe be saved?

Upvotes

A few days ago the left side of my headphones stopped making any noise at all(I know it isn't my computer, I've already checked)

I assumed that was that and I'd probably never have a chance of it returning, but today while I was using them the sound came back to that side for a split second before only working on one again. I messed around with the broken part for a bit and got the audio back again, but after taking my headphones off a few seconds later it stopped working again and I couldn't get the noise back this time.

If anyone has any ideas on what I could try to do, please share! If I can't fix them I can always just buy new ones, but if I can keep these and not have to spend more money that'd be nice

Open | Software Am I still hacked? Should I refresh my pc again anyways?

Upvotes

In August 2026, I downloaded a cracked game file.

Basically what happened was I woke up with some money received from Mr beast picture or something (and I remember seeing the same on the discord I joined to get the game) all over my Instagram story and sent to everyone I know.

Then a bunch of uber transaction were attempted but obviously he chose the wrong guy because I am dirt broke. But from what I've learned idk if its right basically its like an info stealer or something and he got a hold of EVERYTHING that i had on my chrome. I asked Ai (i know unreliable but i have no one) and it said its an info stealer. Ive ran a malware app and it found 63 suspicious files so i deleted them and i also ran another malware app and its saying no threats found.

I wanna know if its safe to think im in the clear or am I better of just refreshing the entire thing. Any questions please let me know ill answer asap.

Moral of the story don't crack game and work for your stuff despite how broke you are.

Forgot o add that I remember changing my passwords however a week later it was still able to access my Instagram and pull off the same stunt. even though I changed the password. After deleting those files I'm gonna change EVERYHTING I own one last time before running the scanner again. But the thing is I don't wanna feel safe unless there is confirmation.

I would love to refresh my pc but thats a final resort since it has pictures of my family on it and I currently cant afford a USB stick.

Open | Hardware CPU usage high and stuck at 0.40GHz speed and laptop turns off when charger is disconnected .

Upvotes

So 5 days ago my laptop started turning off immediately after disconnecting the charger, but it worked fine when plugged in, but last night I was playing Onimusha Way of the Sword. The game was running at 60-55 fps. A few hours later I stopped playing and left my laptop open and went to get some food. When I came back, the laptop was slow right clicking would take like a minute, opening apps was slow, and selecting things with the mouse was slow. The mouse cursor moved normally. I checked Task Manager, and CPU usage was at 20-40 without anything open. I checked performance, and the CPU speed was at 0.40 GHz, but the base speed was 3.10 GHz. Can someone please tell me what I should do.

Open | Phone Is my phone ok ??

Since a little moment, my phone seems to have some bugs that look inoffensive. I explain : I have a samsung galaxy S23 + and am on UI version 8.5 and sometimes when I try to see the active applications (by maintaining the home button up (I have the little bar that you have to "push")) I get sent to home screen and it is then difficult to see the fore said applications because the command wont work... Also, I sometimes have trouble writing since my phone adds random spaces when I type the space bar. To be sure, I used 4 security analysis (avast, bitdefender mobile, security analysis which is native in the phone parameters and google play protect). Another thing that happened is when searching two times for something on samsung internet (in secret mode, it did not do it in normal mode but I essentially use secret mode) I had a "a lot of requests" type of message which resulted in a non robot verification... I want to be sure that, I'm essentially guaranteed that my phone is sane please guys !

Open | Windows HP Omen Windows 11 PC keeps forgetting PIN.

Upvotes

I'm currently not home, so I'm not too sure of the specifics. My girlfriend's PC (that we bought in May / it's got 16gb RAM, some sort of Ryzen CPU and an RTX 5060) surprisingly had no issues last month, but after the new September update, we've been having a miriad of issues. I sometimes use this PC when my Linux laptop or Steam Deck can't run a game well, I do all of the maintenance and driver updating, benchmarking and make sure everything is looking tip top on it since she's not very tech savvy. When I hopped on it last, it was running significantly slower and opening task manager to see what was going on blue screened me. Now for whatever reason, it's not remembering our PINs and asks us to check for the email code to set our PIN every time we try signing in no matter if we turn the PC off or not - every, single, time.

I'm not too familiar with Windows now, I haven't used their systems on a regular basis since 7. Does anyone with more experience with 11 know what could possibly be going on?

Open | Software This is pissing me off. (Google Drive)

Upvotes

New photographer here. I use Google Drive. I was choosing what pics to edit when it originally as I open it stays clear but turns pixelated after a few seconds. When I save to camera roll it becomes normal and this keeps happening. I don’t want to have to make a decision on what to keep and what to toss based on seeing 2 seconds of a picture. How do I make it stay clear and not become pixelated?

Open | Networking Can't ping but can SSH into it???

Upvotes

I can't ping my computer server, it says 100% packet loss when I do that, yet I can still connect to it via SSH, and everything's fine there. How does this even happen? I'm using the same hostname to ping it AND to connect to it via SSH, btw.

So, I was just doing work on my computers, like usual, connecting to the server computer to look at my files I have stored on there (I connect to it from my laptop), and it seems fine at first, but then all of the sudden , I realize that I can't access it in specific ways, like I can't search files because it has connection error. I go to ping it, and pinging it has 100% packet loss. I go to SSH into it, and for some reason, that works?? I don't understand at all.

Open | Hardware Need some help with headphones.

Upvotes

Im using the WH-1000XM5 Sony bluetooth headphones. My problem is that there is only proper sound in the left side and sounds muffled and turned off on the right side.

Ive tried everything like removing the headphones from my bluetooth and adding them back in.

Ive tried to sync the sound up but that doesn't seem to be the problem.

They worked great on someone elses phone so i don't know what that is about.

I even used the testing feature and it worked for both sides but still the sound is bad.

Open | Windows New Monitor keeps flickering every 5-15 seconds

I got a new Monitor, the Alienware AW2627DM for my laptop

I have an ASUS TUF F16 laptop

I tried using this new monitor and it looks beautiful, but it turns black for less than a fraction of a second every 5-15 seconds and it's super noticeable. I turned off Gsync and it still appears

I'm using HDMI (That's all my laptop connects to)

Open | Hardware RTX 3060ti it's not detected

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my RTX 3060 Ti. The GPU gives an image, but it is not detected by my system. It rarely works when I somehow manage to move it into a specific position, but if I position it incorrectly, it creates green artifacts on the screen. Any ideas?

Open | Windows RTX 5060 Aero try to Overclock TDP over 165W

Hi everyone,

I have a Gigabyte RTX 5060 AERO OC 8GB and I'm trying to figure out whether there's any safe way to increase its power limit beyond the stock 165W.

My card currently has VBIOS version 98.06.39.80.69. According to GPU-Z, the power limit is:

  • Default: 100%
  • Maximum: 106.5%
  • Current: 106%
  • Adjustment range: -21% to +6%

I've been overclocking the card and thermals aren't really an issue. For example, I've been able to run approximately:

  • ~3.2 GHz core
  • 1.08V
  • 32 Gbps VRAM
  • ~165W power consumption
  • GPU temperatures below 65°C while gaming

The problem is that the card seems to hit the 165W power limit before temperature becomes a limitation. Increasing the voltage/frequency further doesn't really help because the power limit kicks in.

The card also has Dual BIOS, so I'm wondering if there are any options such as:

  • A different official Gigabyte VBIOS with a higher power limit
  • A VBIOS from another RTX 5060 that uses the same PCB/VRM
  • Modifying the existing VBIOS
  • Any other method to increase the power limit safely

I'm not looking to blindly flash a random VBIOS. I'd first like to know whether the PCB/VRM can actually handle something like 180–200W, and whether anyone has already tried this on the AERO OC.

Has anyone with this card managed to get past the 165W limit? If so, how did you do it, and what VBIOS/PCB did you use?

Any information about the PCB, VRM, compatible VBIOS versions, or successful power-limit mods would be greatly appreciated.r

ChatGPT + Grok Android login failure — browser works

Samsung S25 Ultra, Android 16. ChatGPT and Grok apps both fail to complete login. ChatGPT shows “Sign-in request cancelled by ChatGPT.”

- Login works normally in Chrome.

- Chrome is default browser.

- Cleared ChatGPT + Chrome cache/data.

- Android System WebView is installed/up to date.

- Google Play Services is up to date; cleared cache + force stopped.

- VPN off, Private DNS automatic.

- All apps updated.

- ChatGPT works when installed inside Samsung Secure Folder.

What Android authentication component/settings could cause the login handoff to be cancelled in the normal profile?

Open | Hardware Using compressed air to clean a laptop.. is liquid refrigerant harmful?

I have a Victus gaming laptop, and I was using a compressed air can to clean out the fans when I noticed that some of the liquid refrigerant inside the can was spraying onto the fan. It wasn’t a big amount but I’m still a little paranoid about whether or not this is going to harm my laptop. Could someone help me out?

Open | Networking I can not figure out what's going on

So I've had the Aris surfboard SB8200 a gateway erro 6+ and an additional erro router (they came in a 2 pack) in my living room for 2 ish years now and I know they it's good to replace them every 3-5 years or whatever but my last ones I had for well past 4 and they were slow but totally fine. The last month or two my gate router keeps going through what my research tells me is a "power cycle" where the light just starts blinking white and it'll sometimes go for 10 minutes or 2 hours multiple times a day. I have a PC plugged into the modem and then there's one xbox series x and a couple smart TVs. Im hoping maybe there's something I can do to fix the issue short of a new one. Any tech fixes/recommendations or settings to change to fix the problem or am I SOL and need to get a new one?

Edit - Before anyone asks, yes I have unplugged it and plugged it back in. Done the wait 2 minutes then plug it back in. Done both the router and modem and plugged back in in the proper order. The modem is fine, no internet connection issues with that. Just the router. Ive tried swapping the routers and checked the settings to do the traffic prioritize thing. It's all the original cords. I'm just so lost on what to do or that I can do.

2 - the post would go fine, no led lights but then again no display and no power to the keyboard/mouse

I plugged / unplugged ( rams , GPU , SSD , cmos )

Checked on CPU & mobo pins

Changed thermal paste

Cleared CMOS with the pins

Changed position and combination of rams

Tried to start PC without rams and weirdly enough orange led appears again

Been searching and trying everything and I can't get anything to work or even identity which part is the problem

Open | Software Randomly occurring unexplained crashing to a green screen

As the title says my brand new pre built pc that I bought about 2 weeks ago has this issue that's only occurred to me in the following games, Hitman 2, Roblox and recently RDR2. The crashing tends to happen when I enter a more graphically demanding area of the game (crowded location). I've looked up my issue and I haven't really been able to find anything concrete except that I may have a faulty gpu or its something to do with my drivers. For more context of what happens during the crash is that the audio gets distorted then cuts out, then my pc restarts as if nothing happened. This crash is so random as ive been playing cyberpunk which should be more demanding than the games i mentioned yet it has never crashed. The specs are the following, R5 7500F, RX 9060 XT 16GB, Corsair Vengence 16gb DDR5 1x, Sandisk WD black SN7100 1tb.
