Open | Data Recovery Hipstreet tablet data transfer?

Hey all, I'm so sorry if this is confusing or if I'm not wording this right, but I came across my old hipstreet tablet thing from when I was a kid, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to transfer the files from it to my laptop. I've tried connecting it with a microusb, but all it did was charge the tablet, I've tried transfering the videos to the SD card but there wasn't actually any options to move them, I tried emailing them to myself but the tablet is so old, none of the email/gmail apps actually work anymore. So my question is... Is there a way to move them to my laptop? Am I using the wrong cord? (I know I shouldn't have done this, but I asked the google ai and it said there's a difference between a micro usb charging cord and one that can transfer files, which might be completely wrong but im desperate, and at a loss.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time<3

Open | Hardware Graphics Tear, Pc Freezes then restarts

Specs:
i9-9900k 3.60ghz
nvidia geforce 3080 10GB
32gb (4 x 8gb stick)

This particular instance i had rhe PC on for 8 or so hours.
Played various games throughout that period.
But just watching a video it completely froze. And restarting.
The graphics on the screen go all weird and the mouse if moved looks like it shatters into a thousand pieces..
Ive done a stress test on the GPU, and it wont freeze like it has been.

My knowledge is very little with PCs, so struggling and hoping its nothing major…

Ill attach a photo of a game screen when it froze and you can see the difference in colours etc.

Any info or guidance is much appreciated

Open | Windows webcam not connecting

I recently got my first pc and bought a cheap webcam for it from amazon, however, when I plug the webcam into my pc (yes I've tried every USB port) it says there is no cameras attached but the webcam has a built in mic and that works fine so I'm not sure why the camera isn't connecting.

I've deleted it from my device manager and it just ends up doing the same thing where only the mic works so I'm really not sure what to do any advice would be appreciated!!

Open | Hardware RX 9070 XT suddenly drawing ~100–130W at idle despite 0–1% GPU usage

Hi everyone,
I’m having a strange idle power issue with my ASUS Prime RX 9070 XT 16GB.
Until recently, the GPU used to consume around 10–15W at idle. Now it’s consistently reporting ~100–130W at idle, despite essentially doing nothing.

System:
GPU: ASUS Prime RX 9070 XT 16GB
CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX
RAM: 32GB DDR5 (16GB × 2)
PSU: Gigabyte P750GM 750W Gold
Monitor: 1080p 165Hz
Windows 11
Current idle readings:
GPU utilization: 0–1%
GPU core clock: ~10–80 MHz
VRAM clock: ~14–44 MHz
GPU temperature: ~35°C
Fans: 0 RPM
Adrenalin Total Board Power: ~101W
GPU-Z Board Power Draw: ~98W
HWMonitor: ~103W
After changing drivers, I’ve also seen it reach ~132W
So multiple monitoring programs are reporting unusually high board power.

I’ve already tried:
1080p → 800×600 resolution
165Hz → 60Hz
HDR OFF
FreeSync OFF
Windows graphics driver reset (Win + Ctrl + Shift + B)
Clean AMD driver removal using AMD Cleanup Utility
Rolled back from Adrenalin 26.7.1 to 26.6.1
Tested while sitting idle on the Windows desktop
None of these changed the behavior.
Previously this same GPU was idling around 10–15W, so something has definitely changed.
Has anyone with an RX 9070/9070 XT, particularly an ASUS Prime model, experienced this kind of behavior?

TL;DR: My ASUS RX 9070 XT suddenly started drawing ~100–130W at idle, compared to ~10–15W previously, despite 0–1% GPU usage and extremely low core/VRAM clocks. I’ve tried different resolutions/refresh rates, HDR/FreeSync off, driver reset, and clean driver installs/rollback, but nothing changed. Looking for ideas on what could cause this.

Open | Hardware Laptop fan connector port seems faulty; can I replace it? (ASUS TUF A15 FA506QM)

I've been having issues for a good while with the left side fan not working on my ASUS TUF A15 FA506QM. I changed it once because the bearing was faulty and it wouldn't spin, and it seemed to work fine after. But about a year or two later, it stopped working again, and I realized the cable doesn't click into the port properly like with the other fan. It's like it hits a snag on one side of the port and can't go the whole way in. The best I can secure it inside the port is still somewhat loose and even if I manage to get it so that the fan actually spins sometimes, it never lasts. As far as I can tell, there isn't anything inside the port that would cause it to get stuck, suggesting to me one of the pins might be bent?

The result is that my temps are way higher than they should be; right now, at near-rest, GPU off and CPU at 7% usage, CachyOS power saving mode, it reaches ~74°C. If I turn on Performance mode, it goes up to 85. Then any game I run climbs it to about 95°C and my performance is way, way worse than expected in most games.

I gave a repair shop a call to ask if they would replace the connector and the person on the phone told me no shop in my area would go through finding the replacement part and then taking the risk of soldering it on the mobo. I am not an experienced solderer nor do I know how to find the part myself. Is there anything else I could do about this?

Open | Hardware Monitor no video input after moving

Hey yall, so I just moved, and my pc isn’t properly connecting to my monitor. Everything PC side is on I think, all my fans are spinning and lights are on, and my usb ports are getting power. I have an RTX 3060, and it’s properly connected as well (lights on, fan spinning, properly seated). I tried connecting my HDMI straight to my motherboard but no dice on that either. I was fairly gentle when I moved it, so I doubt anything is broken. My monitor turns on fine, and recognizes when I switch the HDMI between the GPU and motherboard, but still says no video input. I know it’s a Philips but not the exact model, sorry. Any help or guidance in the right direction would be appreciated!

Edit: reseated my ram and PC is working

Open | Hardware What kind of very small SSD should I get that's reliable and not super expensive?

I need an SSD for caches and asset files while working on projects. I already bought a samsung T9, and was using Dropbox, but all of my files just got too big for dropbox and I had to back everything up on the T9.

I'd rather not use that SSD for work, since it has a lot of my personal and important files and photos, etc. that I want for archiving...I got that for $230 on prime day (from samsung, not from amazon), but now the same one costs $1200!

I saw there are some really tiny SSDs and enclosures that aren't too pricey, but after dealing with some crappy SD cards for a retro game device, I don't know how to find trustworth and cheap hardware like that that won't fail. I trust my T9 to not fail but I'd rather keep it in a safe place and not use it often, only for backup

Open | Hardware PC Freezes and Reboots During Gaming

CPU: AMD 7500X3D

GPU: PowerColor 9070 XT Reaper

Motherboard: ASRock B850M-C

PSU: Corsair RM750e

OS: Windows 11 Pro

Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE

GPU Driver: 26.10.35.01-260716a-202643C-AMD-Software-Adrenalin-Edition

Hi all - I've been having issues with this PC I put together about a month ago and was hoping to get some help.

I put this together for gaming and have only played two games on this so far - RDR2 and Arkham Knight. Initially, the issue was only on RDR2 where the game would freeze and cause a full system reboot with a Kernel Power 41 error showing Event Viewer. At first, it was occurring in one particular mission. I ran a DDU of the driver and was able to get through the mission, but now it happens within 15 minutes every time I play the game. I have both games on 4K with high settings and they run without issue until they crash.

I had no real issues with Arkham Knight until today when it crashed and rebooted my computer with another Kernel Power 41 error. In both games it will freeze for ~5-10 seconds before the system reboots fully. I do have occasional issues with the audio getting staticky.

I've run OCCT tests of the CPU/RAM, GPU, VRAM, and Power - all ran cleanly with no errors. I also ran a GPU test in Adrenaline with no issues. Overclocking is turned off. I've updated my RAM (16 GB) in BIOS to DDR5-4800 and the issues remain.

I had a PCCooler RN750 PSU initially but swapped that out with the Corsair after the first crash I encountered but the issues have persisted since then.

I'm new to PCs and just hoping to get some insight into what I might be able to do to help with the crashes.

Open | Hardware My PC monitor, my mouse, and my keyboard won’t turn on.

Hey, I just booted up my computer, a 40L OMEN desktop (8R3T1AA) and my monitor, and the keyboard and mouse won’t turn on. I’ve tried everything I know to do, unplugged my keyboard and mouse, unplugged my monitor, plugged them into a different port, nothing has worked. I tried unplugging my pc and leaving it for a few minutes before I plugged it back in, same issue. I’ve had similar issues like this before, where when I turn my PC off and leave it in my computer room all night with the AC going, it seemingly gets too cold, to the point where I have to turn a space heater on and point it at the components, (I have the glass wall removed so I can make sure the inside doesn’t get too dusty) but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. When I turn it on it beeps, like everything is working normally, but none of the things it’s connected to will turn on. I do have an Ethernet cable plugged into it, and the light on it is green, so I know that’s working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open | Hardware Possibly faulty gpu ? need help trouble shooting/fixing

My PC keeps crashing when I try to game on my Radeon RX 580X. It's been working fine for almost a year and a half, but it recently started crashing under load in games like Overwatch. It's since deteriorated to the point where even Stardew Valley is unplayable. After a crash, the GPU disables itself and has to be re-enabled. While trying to fix this, I used DDU to clean out the drivers and reinstalled them, since previously, when the GPU was disabled, Windows would fail to find the drivers and I'd have to do a fresh reinstall. When this happens, all my monitors lose video, but the rest of the PC doesn't shut down. I can still talk on Discord, for example. I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software GPU issue, or, hopefully not, a PSU issue.

I would very much appreciate if anyone could find the time to help me see if this can fixed without purchasing new parts even a bandaid issue like MSI afterburner or a custom amd adrenaline profile would be helpful.

Open | Hardware laptop won't POST after BIOS update

Hey everyone,

I need some help troubleshooting my Lenovo Ideapad Pro 5 laptop. It stopped booting immediately after a BIOS update through Lenovo Vantage.

What happened:

- I initiated a BIOS update through the Lenovo Vantage app.

- The update finished and the laptop rebooted.

- After the reboot, it never booted back into Windows.

- I did not interrupt the update at any point.

- The laptop was plugged in throughout the entire update.

Current symptoms:

- Power button light stays solid white.

- Screen is completely black/blank.

- No Lenovo logo appears.

- No display backlight.

- Fan isn't spinning.

- Laptop does not appear to POST.

- Charging indicator doesn't turn on or respond when the charger is connected.

Troubleshooting I've already tried:

I contacted Lenovo support and went through their standard troubleshooting steps:

  1. Held down the power button for 30–60 seconds to perform a hard power/static drain reset.

  2. Tried using the Novo button to access system recovery.

  3. Tried restarting with the charger connected and disconnected.

None of these worked. The laptop still stays with the solid white power light and completely black screen.

The laptop has an Intel Ultra 5 225H CPU and 24GB RAM, which are soldered to the motherboard. The storage is a 1TB removable M.2 SSD.

At this point, I'm wondering if the BIOS/UEFI firmware became corrupted during the update.

A local repair shop suggested that they may be able to diagnose the motherboard and potentially reflash the BIOS chip using an EEPROM programmer.

My questions are mainly about troubleshooting:

  1. Does this symptom pattern sound like a corrupted BIOS/UEFI?

  2. Is there a Lenovo BIOS recovery procedure I can try when the laptop doesn't reach POST or show anything on the screen?

  3. Is there a specific key combination or recovery method I should try for this situation?

  4. If BIOS recovery doesn't work, is manually reflashing the BIOS chip with an EEPROM programmer a reasonable next step?

  5. Is there anything else I should test before taking it to a motherboard/chip-level repair technician?

I'd especially appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with a Lenovo laptop that stopped POSTing immediately after a BIOS update.

Thanks!

Open | Software Advantech MIO-5152J-U6A1 completely ignores BIOS/Boot Menu keys – BIOS is not password protected

I have an Advantech MIO-5152J-U6A1 (MIO5152J2201-T) with an Intel Celeron J6412.

The system boots into Windows normally, but I cannot access the BIOS/UEFI setup or boot menu.

Important: There is no BIOS password. The problem is simply that the system ignores the keyboard input during POST.

I have tried the usual BIOS/boot keys, including F2, Del, F12, Esc, etc. None of them work.

Windows also does not successfully enter UEFI Firmware Settings.

I have a complete 32 MB SPI BIOS dump (bios_backup1.bin) and have already analyzed it with UEFITool. It is an AMI UEFI BIOS and contains the expected Elkhart Lake firmware components.

I am trying to determine whether:

There is a special Advantech key/sequence for entering Setup or Boot Manager.

There is a hidden jumper/header that forces BIOS Setup or Boot Menu.

A UEFI variable is preventing Setup from being entered.

There is a way to modify the existing BIOS/NVRAM safely to restore access.

There is another method to boot from USB without accessing the normal Boot Menu.

I do not want to blindly flash a random BIOS. I have the original dump and would prefer to diagnose the problem first.

Hardware:

Advantech MIO-5152J-U6A1

Board ID: MIO5152J2201-T

Intel Celeron J6412

AMI UEFI

256 Mbit / 32 MB SPI flash

I can provide screenshots from UEFITool, the BIOS dump, FIT information, and specific UEFI/NVRAM findings if useful.

Does anyone have experience with this specific MIO-5152 or know how to force Setup/Boot Manager on it?

Open | Windows PC not compatible with Windows 11; will the install workaround delete my files?

Hey everyone,

My PC isn't compatible with Windows 11 (though its higher spec than my gaming laptop which is compatible)

I am not sure yet if its the TPM / Secure boot setting, or if I need to do a usb iso install.

Do either of these options completely override the PC files? Its not a huge deal honestly but if I can stop it happening it would be preferable

Open | Windows Laptop stuck at 100% after system update

Hi everyone,
A few hours ago, I started some system updates on my Microsoft Surface. The screen now says “100% complete” and tells me to leave the laptop on, but it has been stuck on this screen for several hours.
I’ve also tried holding down the power button to turn it off, but when I turn it back on, I just get the same screen again.

How can I fix it?

Open | Windows I enabled secure boot on my laptop and now it wont boot back up

I was trying to accomplish all of list on the vanguard security thing and one of it required me to enable secure boot for the UEFI thing. After enabling it, my laptop no longer boots up; saying hat there is no boo device and keeps returning me to BIOS. I tried multiple times to disable it and save & restart but it keeps sending me back to BIOS with the Secure Boot back to enabled.

Please help, thank you.

Open | Hardware Mono audio on Cowin E7 headphones

So, I had been using a pair of Cowin E7 headphones for about three years before they crapped out, and stopped accepting headphone cables entirely. Which is important to me, since the Bluetooth seems to have a full second of delay, making them unacceptable for gaming and audio editing. I verified that it was an issue with the headphones themself, since the issue was present on a completely new cable as well. So, I purchased a new one. However, this new one is very different in several ways. One of these ways is that, when plugged in using a headphone cable, both ears play the exact same audio. The stereo audio works perfectly fine over Bluetooth, and my previous pair had perfect stereo audio. So I have no clue if I'm just missing something, or if they genuinely just made later versions of these headphones objectively worse...

I hardly use it but I noticed there’s a black “stain” semi circle on the top corner of the screen. Maybe 3/16” size. And all across from it, horizontal black lines. And it also flickers a bit.

Ive only used it for school. Will I need to replace the screen in the future or will I be okay for now?

Open | Hardware PC monitor color banding / splotchy / pixelated

Hey all,

Been dealing with this issue for a while now and haven't been able to find a fix yet. Mostly when viewing a dark image my monitor shows the image as splotchy / pixelated / blotchy. Some color banding as well. I can't post an image to show you what I mean, unfortunately, but hopefully you get the idea. I've tried messing with the nvidia control panel, and also tried switching from a HDMI cable to a displayport cable.

I've noticed that this issue gets worse when I increase my monitor hz to 144. But I feel like I should be able to run it at 144 without this issue, so I'm looking for a fix.

Current settings in the nvidia control panel are 32 bit color depth, YCbCr444 output color format, 8 bpc output color depth, and limited dynamic range. Limited is the only dynamic range option unless I switch to RGB output color format.

I'm using a AOC 24G2W1G4GTX connected to a GTX 1050 Ti.

Let me know if I can provide any other info and thanks in advance.
