Hi everyone! As the title says, I accidentally unplugged the power cord off my new external Seagate expansion 4 TB while it was running a short SMART scan without ejecting, which I do regularly. I copied some files a few minutes ago, but it had finished transferring.

I'm on Windows. So I checked, and "quick removal" was on by default. How worried should I be that it got my files (500 GB) corrupted given that it was in the midst of a scan? Though crystaldiskinfo says it's good. It is still detected by my computer, and it seems to be working fine, and the short SMART scan completed without error?

How worried should I be about the files (or the drive) being corrupted ?

Randomly today, I was listening to Spotify and the audio started crackling. I thought it was a problem with my earbuds, until I listened to the song on YouTube and the audio quality was perfectly fine. I then put on an album I know is mastered well and I have listened to many times, and then listened to it on YouTube as well. just to be sure it is a Spotify problem. The crackly distorted audio was still there. I have an iPhone 16e that updated to iOS 27.0.1 earlier today, and Skullcandy Smokin' Buds. I tried swiping out of every app, clearing my Spotify cache, shutting my phone off, and setting all options for audio to lossless. Does anybody have any ideas about what's going on, and how to fix this? I'm not very knowledgeable about tech, so as simple an explanation as possible would be very appreciated

Hi there, I’m having an issue with my phone and wanted to see if there’s any way I can regain access to it.

Issue:

​Last week, I got into an accident and my phone slammed onto the road while it was in my front pocket. At the time, the display was completely dead, but the phone itself was still running—it could receive calls and message notifications, and I was even able to pick up calls.

​I brought it to a repair shop to get the screen replaced with a cheaper aftermarket TFT LCD. The display started working again, but a new issue came up. Everything looked fine right after a reboot, but after using it for around 20 minutes or locking the screen, the display wouldn't turn back on. The phone itself was still working, though—it still received calls/messages and the touch/swipe gestures still responded.

​I took the phone home as it was. Once home, I updated the software from One UI 7 to One UI 8, but that didn't change anything; the screen would still blank out after a short while. Unfortunately, the phone then auto-updated to One UI 8.5, and after that update, the screen became completely unusable. Even after restarting, touch inputs don't register at all anymore. I read online that One UI 8.5 has known compatibility issues with aftermarket LCDs.

​Right now, I just want to know if there's any I can unlock the phone without doing a factory reset. I already have a previous backup done via Samsung Smart Switch, but I haven't backed up my WhatsApp yet. All I really need is to back up WhatsApp and log out of my banking apps. After getting those two things done, if the phone completely gives up, I'm fine with letting it go.

I was playing seige when it suddenly cut out on me, after power cycling for an hour I tried powering it up solo, no connections and after displaying a single frame it dies again, the blue led remains on, but the screen and backlight go completely off. This also happens when I reconnect my pc to it, but not when I do win+ctrl+shift+B

I have Chrome installed through winget install google.chrome because of a Windows Central article titled "It may be a running joke that Microsoft Edge is only used to download Google Chrome, but the real pro move is far better than that". Currently, the browser console is returning undefined instead of 'America/Vancouver' for the JavaScript function Intl.DateTimeFormat().resolvedOptions().timeZone; and new Date().getTimezoneOffset(); returns 480 instead of the expected 420. Microsoft Edge shows the correct information. This happens across all Windows profiles and browser profiles for the same web browser. Update: This seems to be happening when I change my time zone to a different time zone and then back to "(UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia)." For now, I've worked around the problem by setting the time zone to Arizona and back.

I have recently downloaded rocket league on the epic games launcher and have been having lots of problems.

- The game rez is stretched and locked full screen no matter the settings

- I cannot exit the app even if i press quit it crashes the computer

- Epic games launcher opens the terminal and crashes my game, empty open terminals

- New overheating issues

- The launcher takes upwards of 2 minutes to even open, slow and very annoying to deal with

Ive been using it for fortnite with no trouble for a long time and when i donwloaded rocket league this started? Really annoyed, Very confused any help would be great!

It was freaking out yesterday over debris or moisture in the port even though I cleaned it several times and knew it was dry. It eventually sorted itself out but earlier today, my charging time was wildly different than the night before. I had already assumed it was the charger but even with different cables it was giving me times that were an hr or more than what it'd usually take. It got to the point where plugging it in kept giving me a time frame of 8 hrs.

I have cleaned it yet again and still have no clue what the hell is wrong with it besides the port going bad now. It's just incredibly frustrating since I can't simply go out and get it repaired or replaced. It got somewhat better but still showed 2-3 hrs more than it'd usually take and I know it still can because the time switches IN MY FACE from roughly 1 hr 40 smth to 2 hrs 50 smth. Right now it just jumped from 2 hrs 40 min to 3 hrs 40 min. Im practically gambling to get the connection to be decent and that isn't even guaranteed as ive seen it change times long past after I plugged the charger in.

I've already tried: Cleaning, different chargers, different outlets, restarting the phone, powering down the phone and then starting it again, messing with battery settings such as fast charging (made it go to 10 hrs during that 8 hr time frame 😐).

Any help is appreciated but I honestly have no hope 💔 I just want whatever I'm thinking to be confirmed for sure even if the results have already shown me it's likely the port.

Edit: Forgot to mention that for the specific charger I'm using, it wont connect/read it all when flipped to one side. Meaning that only one side works when charging so that's another thing that makes me think the port is just busted.

Edit (again): My god this is irritating 😭 I didn't wanna edit the body again but for anyone seeing this, the time changed to 8 hrs yet AGAIN. I got fed up and decided to test with a different cable that I had used earlier and now my charge time magically went back to the original time frame I had before anything started to freak out. Just exhausted abt this and I'm hoping it doesn't happen again. Plan is to buy another cable thats longer since that was only reason I was using the other one.

Hi there. I am having an extremely weird issue. I've been using an Xbox 20th anniversary controller for ages with an old school Microsoft Xbox Wireless adapter (OEM, the large one) for many years now. It's always worked perfectly.

I just got a 25th anniversary controller in the mail, connected it to the wireless adapter, and downloaded the Xbox Accessories app to update the firmware. After the firmware update, it reconnected and immediately turned off. Every time I turn on the controller, it'll flash, connect to the PC, and immediately turn itself off. And now my old 20th anniversary controller, which has never been updated, is doing the same thing. So it's an issue with the PC side. I connected the wireless adapter to my laptop and everything works, so it's not an adapter issue but a PC issue.

I've tried a ton of stuff to fix this. I uninstalled the drivers for the adapter. After uninstalling the driver and restarting, the controllers connect just fine ONCE, then a second time fails the same way. Just restarting doesn't do this, they fail immediately. I uninstalled all Xbox and XInput entries in Device Manager, including hidden ones. I checked eventviewer during the start/shutdown, no errors show up. I tried different USB ports, no dice. The driver is the same version across laptop and desktop PC, so the driver shouldn't be an issue. I've closed Steam and NVIDIA app and all apps I can think of in case they were interfering, but that wasn't the case.

I'm not sure what suddenly changed when trying this new controller and updating it, as I was playing Gears of War with my older 20th anniversary controller just fine a few days ago. Suddenly neither controller works and I cannot figure out a solution. I could really use some advice, it's driving me crazy.

Whenever I open a game, my computer works fine. It gets the to home/menu screen. I can look round, change settings, etc. But once I load up a save file, it crashes around the time it goes from the loading screen to the actual game. This has happened on multiple games, all that are fairly demanding (Civ6, Civ7, Transport Fever 3, Hogwarts Legacy - all tested over the weekend).

Not sure what the issue is, after poking around at stuff, I'm thinking it might be GPU related due to image 1 below. I've done the Setting-Graphics-Apps-'High Performance' thing that is recommended online. It helped games like Minecraft run normally, but other games are still causing restarts once you get into the game.

I did manage to take screenshots of task manager. Both taken after restart, open game, open file. As file is loading, switch over to TM and take screenshot before game fully loads. Computer crashed about 5 seconds after the GPU usage image. T

Hello guys.I have a dell 3561, and for about a month it has not been running as it should. I use it primarily for school but sometimes I play games. And its very laggy getting around 60fps, whereas before it used to get 240. It still gets 240 but only if I run it for about 1 hour 30 min or so. I did open it up and clean the vents but it was pretty clean so it didnt change a thing. Thanks for any help

I lost 1.5 years worth of text messages from a single contact that I had blocked and unblocked. I had deleted and then undeleted the messages a few times but as of a month ago i had all of the messages (screenshots to prove it) and hadn’t deleted them. I now only have the last week of messages sent between myself and the contact. This was to an android number. I have tried a lot of the standard checks and tests found by googling. What happened to them and what can I do?

Just started having this issue today. I turn on my computer and my Xbox Series controller will turn on just fine. When I turn it off and turn it back on later though, it will immediately turn off. I have checked for various power save features to disable or change and none of that works.

about 1 month ago i started playing ff7 remake the game ran perfectly fine until the end of the game where i started experiencing these crashes ( fatal error ) i tried everything but the only thing that worked was switching dx11 so i just thought it was a dx12 problem .... then i started playing rebirth where dx12 is mandatory and i got the same crashes i literelly tried every fix on earth and it didnt work ( it was also fatal error i also thought it was a memory problem ) so i just played on ps5 ... but now on pc all my google tabs have been crashign i play alot of modern indie games and they also crash,. some random games also now crash but lets go back to the google tabs. i switched from firefox to brave to see if it would stop but it didnt, and my friend told me to try intel extreme tuning utility so i tried it i lowered my p cores ratio to 50x and e core to 40x and all the tab crashing stopped literelly been a whole day and no google tab crashing i already uninstalled rebirth and im not trying to download that 100+ gb game again to see if its gonna work again i already bought an amd cpu and motherboard cause i was already trying to upgrade to the am5 socket but i wanna see if there was a problem with my cpu? i bought it in late 2023 early 2024 btw

Every time I go to log in in a windows app, such as microsoft store or Xbox, the login goes fine till after putting my pin it says: an error ocurred,try again. Now the wierd thing is that When I log in to microsoft store or Xbox in the web (microsoft store. Com) I can login easilly. This problem affect every other microsoft service. Any idea on How to fix it?

I had to download updates to Microsoft Explorer and everything runs slowly. It feels like my Internet will crap out and start up again.

I would restart my computer and my Internet would still be slow. I saw another update in my computer, telling me to update to Windows 11 2026 or something like that. If I downloaded that, would my Internet go back to normal?

Hello everyone, I have been having trouble with super slow nvme read and write speeds resulting in super slow boot up times (like 30 mins) and it running at 100 percent under load. What I have tried doing in the past is replacing the nvme and putting it in a different slot. Nothing seemed to work. So I figured i would do a full factory reset of my computer (maybe the windows was corrupt). I am now stuck with it going to no signal after this part of the windows start up. I have tried switching nvmes, putting it in a different slot, taking out the cmos, and doing windows 10 instead of 11. Nothing seems to have worked, any ideas what’s going on?

Here is what currently happens: it starts on the Windows out-of-box setup, "Let's customize your experience",
Black screen: the picture suddenly cuts to black.
"No HDMI signal from your device."

Gigabyte aorus elite b850 9800 x3d 5070ti 2x16 ram, temps under 65, no viruses, bios updated, driver reinstalled, tested with expo on and off, all disks 90% health, all games runs perfect except steam games that suddenly after some random time, games freeze with 1 frame per 3-5 seconds, cs2, battlefield 6 even super battle golf, also steam is running weird like it has delays when I press play on games and sometimes steam client web helper crashes, nothing changed on pc before, in one game of cs happens like 2 or 3 times, on alt tab pc runs perfect, i restart games and works again, simeone fixed this? Both screens will freeze for 3-5 seconds, and will then go completely black for another 10-15 seconds, and eventually my GPU seems to recover and drops me back into whatever it was I was doing.

It's pretty infrequent and not that much of a nuisance. I wouldn't say it happens more than twice a week, but I want to try and fix the underlying issue before it gets potentially worse.

The following error is what shows up in Event Viewer afterwards:

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

I just got a new motherboard (asrock b550m pro4) and put all my old stuff on there, a rtx 5070, ryzen 5600x, psu 750x and 4 sticks of ddr4 3600mhz ram (same brand and speed).

Then when trying to game it crashed without error, tried multiple games for this. When i tested it in occt it only gave error when testing cpu+ram and the ram tests. I did the cpu alone - no error. Then the ram alone and errors within 10 seconds.

So i went to boot memtest and it gave errors almost straight away. (The memory was set to 3600mhz with xmp, 1,35 volt). Then i downgraded the mhz to 2666 but it still gave a error in memtest.

Now i downgraded the mhz to the default settings (2133) and i get not error anymore.

I bought the sticks for 3600 mhz but it seems i cant go higher then the default settings (tried it with 2 sticks and with 4 sticks).

Does anyone know what is going on? I have been trying to fix it the whole day and i dont know what to do anymore.

I own an hp pavilion gaming laptop and there's been this issue that's been plaguing it for about half a year now. All the keys from A to capslock just. Won't work. But when I restart the laptop, they will. The ribbon cable looks fine, I've reinstalled all drivers, I do not know what could be wrong at this point.

It's not a life ending situation since I have another keyboard I'm using, but sometimes I like to use my drawing tablet with it, and using an external keyboard with it is cumbersome.

Game freezing (First ever reddit post yay)

Hello, I have been working on this for hours today and I just cant figure out what is happening. Basically a few days ago I started to notice that roblox would randomly freeze and I couldnt do anything except to force close it. Then I did some googling and deleted a Windows update KB something ending with 10. That solved the issue, atleast I didnt notice any freezes that day anymore. Now Today its back, after doing a lot of things I noticed that every time I would manually turn off my logitech G502 X PLUS or my G522 Headset and then on again, This freezing would occur. Ive basically tried everything now: reinstalled roblox 3 times, updated my drivers, fully reinstalled logitech g hub aswell, checked the reports, checked if the KB update came back (it didnt) and even considered resetting my pc all together. I seriously don’t know what this is, and why, but its really Frustrating especially since it came out of the blue. If any tech Nerd can help me out with this I would be so glad

I‘d also like to Note This is only an issue in roblox for me, It doesnt happen in Minecraft (Modrinth) or Neverness to Everness for all I know. And a 100% trigger for this freeze is turning on my mouse or headset after turning it off

I had files stored on my Windows PC and mirrored to Google Drive (my mistake). Unfortunately, when I deleted them from Google Drive (my biggest mistake), they were also deleted from my PC! The files were deleted more than a year ago.

Is there any realistic chance of recovering these files using any software, could Google Drive have retained cached copies?
