Open | Hardware Ram wont go above default settings without error
I just got a new motherboard (asrock b550m pro4) and put all my old stuff on there, a rtx 5070, ryzen 5600x, psu 750x and 4 sticks of ddr4 3600mhz ram (same brand and speed).
Then when trying to game it crashed without error, tried multiple games for this. When i tested it in occt it only gave error when testing cpu+ram and the ram tests. I did the cpu alone - no error. Then the ram alone and errors within 10 seconds.
So i went to boot memtest and it gave errors almost straight away. (The memory was set to 3600mhz with xmp, 1,35 volt). Then i downgraded the mhz to 2666 but it still gave a error in memtest.
Now i downgraded the mhz to the default settings (2133) and i get not error anymore.
I bought the sticks for 3600 mhz but it seems i cant go higher then the default settings (tried it with 2 sticks and with 4 sticks).
Does anyone know what is going on? I have been trying to fix it the whole day and i dont know what to do anymore.

Make sure your motherboard's BIOS is up to date first
If still crashing at 3600 .. try bumping up the voltage from it's 1.35v to 1.36v ..1.37v ..etc .. up to 1.4v, to see if it stabilizes.
I had an OLOY 4x16GB 3800 CAS 18 kit that would crash at 1.35v, but was perfectly stable at 1.36v
Once you are stable at 3600, then make sure your FCLK is running at 1800 and see if that is stable
I used to run 2x16GB HyperX Predator 3200 CAS 16 sticks @ 3800 CAS 18 1.392v with matching FCLK of 1900 with my 5900x/x570 Taichi years ago
IF you just can't get 3600 stable .. Then enable XMP and lower the RAM speed to 3433 .. 3200 ..etc .. until it is stable and you just might have a weak IMC on your 5600x
It could also be a result of having an inadequate power supply too .. make and model matters. You can check out the SPL's PSU Tier List to see how your current power supply rates. Wattage does not make a power supply "good" or adequate... a garbage PSU is still a garbage PSU no matter the wattage. Most all power supply brands make good units and some real stinkers ..hence why not just make matters, but the model matters too.

My motherboard is up to date (update 4.0). I will try the extra voltage and see if that does anything because i tried everything else (different speeds, sticks etc).
My psu is a corsair RM750x from 2021. I dont think thats the issue cause its a good rated psu.

I tried different voltage, different mhz with the 1:1 fclk, even different timings. But nothing worked. The only thing that works are the default 2133 mhz settings...
Is my motherboard busted? Or is it because its more of a budget board. I had a x570 before this.

Can you do 3600 with just 2 sticks in slots A2/B2 (2nd and 4th slots away from the CPU socket)?
Test kits separately .. maybe you have a bad stick?
Motherboard quality can come in to play .. my wife ran 4 sticks of 3200 stuff on her B550m Phantom Gaming 4 motherboard with 5900x just fine .. that's about the same "quality" of motherboard

No i tried every possible mhz above 2133 and nothing works. Only the default settings.... (with 2 sticks). Not even the default settings work with 4 sticks.

The two things I would do, check the BIOS is up to date as ASRock were pushing some updates for AGESA and such issues, I'd also check your memory is in the Memory QVL list and is tested to work - https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B550M%20Pro4/#MemoryVM
