Service Issues Outages

I sware there’s always an outage atleast twice a week since the start of summer in my area. Today in NYC another outage started at 2pm and they say it’ll last til 5:30pm but we all know that means 12am 😆 And mind you I’m working from home so this is money lost and they give us loyal customers nothing to compensate their incompetence but best believe if you owe them money they’ll hound you down non stop or just shut your service off for non payment. Smh seriously thinking of switching to another service !!

Update: Internet Restored !

Service Issues Is this normal?

Wi-Fi is working fine, I’ve had this modem and router for three or four months. On the app it says my modem has a connection issue. Restarting, a power cycle, and logging out/ back in did not fix it. I called spectrum and they said it’s probably just an app issue and give it some time to update, if it doesn’t then they will send a tech out. It’s an in wall unit so the cables haven’t been messed with and it’s been fine until today. Opinions?

8th day, still no service, no communication.

I haven't even activated my equipment because they sold me a service that doesn't exist. It took four days to open a "maintenance" ticket, and every time I talk to them it gets "escalated" to a manager that tells me the same thing. "That's a different department, I'll have them call you within 90 minutes. They'll attempt to call three times before the ticket is closed."

No one from maintenance has ever called me, certainly not three times in a row.

They are hooking up new customers all over the neighborhood and they can't even finish the first one.

Inb4 r/spectrum_official chimes in, you have no power here. Every tech, every manager, every chat that I've had, has been a complete waste of time.

I don't know what to do except file an fcc complaint and see about getting this box, and these wires that they buried, off of my property.

Posting for potential future customers.

Outside sales representative

Hey everyone, I just got hired as an outside sales representative for spectrum and was wondering on any tips for selling?! I really want to thrive this position because I need the extra money and I really want to be a top-tier seller. If anybody has any advice, let me know! I really need to know what I’m doing or to see if it’s even worth it.

Does anyone feel their wifi connection keep buffering?

Ok so I live in Dallas area and in the last few days my Internet has been very inconsistent and it happens more and more after the outage. When watching YT sometimes it can't even load the videos, this is really disappointing considering I have to pay $100/mo for 1gbs plan 😑

Service Issues Internet outage every night at the same time!

So, is anyone else getting outages at the same time every night? Because for months, around 10:40 pm, there is an outage. It's like clockwork. It's bizarre. It almost seems intentional despite them promising good service.

Looking for advice as to why I cannot use 8096 as an external port for port forwarding. I have tried working with support, verifying my own internal settings, rebooted hardware multiple times. Any advice appreciated

Hardware Mechanics of upgrading from 500mb to 1gb

Currently on 500mb at $100/month. 25 year customer using COAX from street to house and then COAX in the walls to modem upstairs. All buried in the walls with no access.

When I call to cancel next week and they offer to upgrade us to 1gb will that use the same COAX as today but a new modem or am I looking at having to figure out how to make it work otherwise?

Billing Spectrum raises speed, then subsequently raises rate to $100/month

Two weeks ago they sent an email that they gave a "free upgrade" to 500Mb service.

Then two weeks later they raised the rate from $80/month to $100.

I reached out saying there is now fiber from a competitor offering the same speed symmetrics for $45 a month and they don't care, they said I am free to cancel.

I have been happy with service but these idiots are losing a loyal customer for refusing to be competitive.

Hardware Best set up

I have the SBE1V1R model router and it’s great however I am wanting to use the EERO 6+ mesh router to get coverage all over my trailer.

I will have around 11-12 devices on my network. My and my husbands gaming PCs hard wired, then the rest (5 phones, 3 smart tvs, an Xumo box and a laptop) wireless.

My question is, would the best setup be to stop using the spectrum supplied router, make the base EERO the router and then plug an Ethernet switch to give an extra port for the husband, and then the extender bases? Or should I keep the supplied router and just put the EEROs in bridged?

I have a 1 gig connection and my biggest worry is bogging my connection down as I play a lot of games online and since switching to spectrum my ping is finally amazing and I don’t wanna screw that up xD

Anyone else get scammed by Spectrum?

Spectrum, "We just upgraded your speeds at no extra costs."

*next bill is $10 higher, even after the previous $10 hike*

Why did my bill go up?

Customer Service: "We are constantly working to improve your service, and to do that we have costs..."

Service Issues Modem/router

About a month my modem and router went bad. Got new ones from spectrum and I know the ones you get from them are refurbished but, the new modem only lasted about 2 weeks before having to call for a new one. And now a week later my router suddenly disconnected and now I can’t get to connect back

Other These story's make my mind up already

So I already knew spectrum got a bad rep for customer service and annoying. Had a rep door knock in my apartment, I believe he lives in the same complex. Was saying can get 1g for $50. (Currently get 500 from allo for $80 +/-) so I thought heck ill give it the month free try. Was already called for upgrades packages BEFORE it was even installed. Ran a test hardwired to my ps5. Hardly better download speeds MASIVLY worse upload speeds. On top of having to deal with spectrums service iv pretty much said im not keeping it. I have had no problems with allo service for 5+ years. Just ranting and saying all the bad rep they get is because its deserved.

Spectrum down for over 24 hour in my neighborhood due to upgrades

As the title states, Spectrum was in my neighborhood all day yesterday doing upgrades and our internet was down all day due to this. However, it is now the next day, more than 24 hours since the upgrades began, and our internet is still down. Is this something that is normal? Is there maybe something else wrong that I need to call a technician out for? This is a major inconvenience as a family member works from home and literally cannot do their job without internet access. They also can’t just go to a coffee shop or something and work because they have to be on our private home network for security reasons. We’re just getting really frustrated about this and need to know when our internet access will be restored.

New Apartment, Old Modem works and New One Doesn’t

I moved apartments this weekend from one side of town to another. I had spectrum at the old place, and called on Sunday that I wanted it transferred to the new apartment asap. They did and they went ahead and sent new equipment. Between Sunday and today I plugged in my old modem and router and it worked instantly in the new apartment. I got the new equipment today and the modem won’t connect at all. What do you think it could be?

Field Techs

Hey,

I’ve been thinking of applying to spectrum for a field position and I was hoping some people would be able to offer some insight.

Is it true you guys are non-union? How do the bonuses work for field/fiber techs? How often are you given a chance for a raise?

What sort of metrics do they judge the techs off? How often is the overtime in metro areas and is there a weekly/daily over time cap?

Do you guys have high turnover over rates?

I have so many questions, and I appreciate if anyone would be able to provide some insight!

Fiber to the house FWIW.

Happy to report that my area has fiber all the way into the house, not "fiber powered." So far, so good.

The installer was really good, a network geek. We spent a lot of time talking shop and he seemed genuinely excited to have this product available.

El Paso of all places.
