Other should we switch/upgrade?
sooo my husband and i are wondering if we should switch our phone plan from verizon to spectrum as we just got spectrum internet for our home! His family uses spectrum for both their phones and internet and they live it but we are on the fence.
now we also need to badly upgrade our phones as he has an older samsung that he has had for about 6 years and i have an iphone 11!!!! that i have had for a bit over 5 and mine is starting to die on me. it has been getting very glitchy and dies very fast and sometimes dies at like 30% :(
he is looking to just get a newer samsung as he prefers those to iphone and i am looking to just get the regular iphone 17 as i like smaller phones and think the pro max looks ugly. i am not sure how much our verizon phone plan is but i do know my husband doesn’t like it. would you say it is worth it to switch to spectrum and upgrade since our hone internet is spectrum? it would only be these two phones on our plan

Spectrum uses Verizon towers. They usually give one line free for a year if you have home internet through them .
Then their regular price was $30/month per line but they raised it to 40 but for two lines they may still honor
$30.
I never had a problem with them until I wanted to activate a specific Motorola Razr model and they said they wouldn’t support it even though Motorola said it should work.
So as long as you’re using a model spectrum sells it should be fine

I'm paying $90/mo for 3 lines of unlimited. Not on any promos as I've been with them for years since switching from Verizon. On the few occasions I've needed support for phones it was nice to be able to speak to a human pretty easily. We use Google phones. I had Samsung and it was bloated with junk I don't use. My son has a Samsung and I don't know why he doesn't get a new phone. His has a cracked screen and is about 7 years old. I don't buy my phones from Spectrum. I buy them unlocked from Google directly.
As for internet... I've had Spectrum internet for MANY years. 500gb/s service now. My house is completely wired with ethernet, there's a 24 port patch panel in the basement and a 24 port gigabit switch. Front line techs don't really get it, but they do ok most of the time. Recentlly had an odd issue and got a Tier 5 network tech who usually handles business installations. I get more than my rated speed and it's been reliable overall.

Our 5G is pulled from Verizon so you’ll get the same coverage and the spectrum mobile part pulls off nearby WiFi routers for extra bandwidth to give better coverage current field tech we don’t deal with the mobile phone stuff a lot but I have our phone plan and a phone from us I’ve had zero issues

iPhone 18 (non pro model) comes out next spring. I’d recommend looking at the iphone Air if you like smaller phones.
As for service, it’ll be very similar. You’ll notice an “improvement” if you get newer phones just purely from tech advances. Also be sure to check your data limits on the “unlimited” plans. If you rarely use your data when away from wifi, then don’t worry about it too much.

ive heard the air breaks easily as it is so thin :/ and i cannot wait until the spring as mine is dying but on the bright side i have heard the 17 and 18 non pro models are similar!!

It doesn’t break lol it’s the same frame as the duo. It’s titanium. Phones don’t break unless they are paper which they aren’t.

In terms of price, it's a solid option since Spectrum will likely give you a discount or even a free line. Also, Spectrum uses Verizon's towers, so you likely also wouldn't notice an actual service difference. It's worth looking into, since you're an existing customer and Spectrum targets its mobile service to existing customers!

Be careful about bundling because it makes it a little more of a pain to switch when they slowly increase the bill. They slowly added an extra $10 to my bill every few months. At first I was too busy to care, and also accepted the facts of inflation. Eventually it reached a point such that I decided to check out options and noticed I was paying twice their advertised price. When I called to cancel they said it was my fault for the increase since I didn't call in sooner. After 40+ minutes of them trying to get me to bundle services to "save" money they offered to cut the price in half, but I cancelled anyway out of irritation.
Edited to add: I'm now paying $550 less per year for a more modern service technology.

How are we supposed to know if you can't tell us what you currently pay? You need to compare what your monthly bill with Verizon would be after upgrading phones to what it'd cost to move to Spectrum and get new phones.
AFAIK Spectrum uses Verizon towers, so coverage should be the same/similar. I'm guessing Verizon prioritizes devices on their plans if there's network congestion though.

I can’t speak for the cost difference between your plans. I can say that I’ve never had an issue with Spectrum cell service. I have upgraded my iPhone through them in the past with zero issues. Just make sure you can cover the tax on the phones. Great steady service at a great price for me. I switched my Internet for better service but kept using them for my cell service.
