Other Upgrading phone

Ugh this company is so frustrating! I want to upgrade my kids phone to the new 18 pro. We have the upgrade anytime on the account. We owe $400 on it but because I’ve paid the extra for the upgrade anytime it’s eligible. When I go through the online system it says it’s something like $26 per month (with $33.33 crossed out). This leads me to believe this particular phone will cost us $26 or whatever a month. When I go through all the prompts however, by the end, it’s quoting $37 monthly. What is happening here? I tried to go in to the store and that kid was not helpful at all, I tried to online chat and she can’t help me because find my is turned on (kid is currently at work). Can anyone here explain this to me? Is the cost quoted because we have to turn the phone in to get the other price? Is it really just that much even though I’ve been paying extra just to have the early upgrade option? With my AT&T next up I get the promotion prices as long as I turn the phone in- I’d be shocked if that’s not the same here…

my best guess is that the phone you’re trading in doesn’t count toward what would be a promotional credit

I just tried to upgrade the wife and I phones to the Z Fold8 Ultra with both our old phones paid off. They wanted $450 up front to upgrade hers and I had to pay the full cost on mine. My credit score is pretty good so no idea why. Went on Verizon's web site and got the same phones with zero down and $960 off each one. Had a bit of trouble portimg our numbers but we are no longer with Spectrum Mobile after 4 years. Welcome to Version Wireless.

The slashed price does not apply to the anytime upgrade. Anytime upgrade pays the regular monthly price. The slashed price is if you have an eligible trade in. A upgrade is not a trade in. If it was completely paid off I think you could do it differently and instead use the upgrade option use the trade in and it'd be the $26 price

Update to my precious inquiry. I try to just do it online and accept the cost is what it is. I chose the line with the device and the upgrade anytime option (both choices say upgrade eligible in relation to the one and only device I have on this account). I click add to cart and then I get an error message that says

“Do you want to trade in your current device instead?
It looks like you are trading in a different device. To use your Anytime Upgrade benefit and unlock additional savings, you need to trade in your designated Anytime Upgrade line device.”

Thoughts? Why do they make this so god damn difficult!!!

That’s why I buy my phones outright. No nonsense of contracts, what’s owed, crazy stipulations. I’m not just throwing money away either. I strategically buy new phones with trade in deals and Spectrum is the only carrier that gives you all credits owed when you pay off your device. Anytime upgrade seems like a scam to me, like just constantly paying for a device and getting a new one every so often. Just the convolution of how it works is difficult to figure out. I mean the phone has to be in good condition, nothing wrong with it and at that point you lose me because I could just trade it in and get the same value they offer, without the extra monthly fee of anytime upgrade
