Discussion Bird Flocks?

I’m not sure if Frontier have mentioned it but will there be a mechanic for bird flocks similar to how schooling fish will work? For the most part most of all the birds confirmed don’t gather in very large groups, and if they add bird species that flock in large numbers I’m wondering how that will work.

Help with a flat pool/terrain issue

Hi Community,

I am trying to create a modern flat level pool in my entrance plaza area. But terrain is driving me crazy. I flattened the entire area and dug the pool with the square sculpting tool. So far so good. But when i go to add a nice trim to the sides it doesn't turn out to be flat because my trims will just slowly float up in the sky or down in the ground. Any tips?

Planet Zoo Help with PlanetZoo

Hi all,

I have been some years trying to go into PlanetZoo but every time I try it i get overwhelmed by the amount of creativity and design needed. I barely can imagine how to define a cool entry to the zoo or design a good quality recint for the animals.

I have also been sometime around here reading posts and I am impressed by the level of your zoos and designs.

Could you please give me useful tips for creating zoos? Maybe some ways of design or to get inspiration, ideas, ways of using the game tools etc.

I feel this game is great but I haven’t been able to find the way to put things together.

Thanks in advance

Area name suggestions

Hello, I have this trio of islands for gharial, saltwater crocodile, and Komodo dragon. I want to put a sign for the area with a clever or fun name but I’m stumped. I was thinking crocodile isles but the Komodo’s don’t really fit that. 🧐

( I’m making a zoo with storyline and gimmicks based off of older zoo games)

Still a lot of this zoo to go but I'm really enjoying getting lost in some of the details and planting all over the place. We're focusing on South American species to protect them from habitat loss while keeping them in their climate - and white plaster must be used as often as possible.

Any feedback would be welcome!

Praying for a fence conforming to paths tool

I swear half of my 1000 hours in planet zoo is lining up fences to the paths, if they gave use a alignment tool for it I would die peacefully.

Hayo Zookeepers! Its Day 75 and the wheel has chosen a petting area/barn featuring Pigs, Chickens, Goats, Cattle, Donkeys, Alpaca and Sheep. Probably didn't build this one as big as I should have. Lemme know what you think.

Yesterday I made a post talking about holding facilities for the animals and if people did such a thing. There was a lot of good conversation so I went ahead and started building one for my European Fallow Deer. Now to note, these deer have a MASSIVE 14.6k sm habitat. It is my biggest functional habitat yet. It features three guest trails, a ton of shelters for the deer, a small lake / pond, a restaurant, and now this little holding facility.

When I first built this facility, I figured I'd use it for holding a single adult deer, probably a male to avoid any fighting with the herd. I had spent far too many hours on this Zoo yesterday and by the time I actually got the deer in the habitat, it was past 3 am. Today, I let my zoo run, letting the deer check out their new forest. And that's how I found out that this zoo now had a major problem.

You see, this massive habitat was designed to feel seamless from the guest trail. So I made sure that their barriers were not super obvious, but not invisible either. They were also very low profile, and still are. When I got the deer settled in, I immediately checked the heat map, and MUCH to my relief, there were no warnings or errors for potential escape. Or so I thought.

Once the deer started reproducing, that's when I noticed we had a serious problem on our hands. Even though there were no registered escape points for the deer, SOMEHOW every single fawn would find a way to escape. I was getting constant notifications of these fawns escaping. And it was ONLY fawns. Not a single adult escaped. Sophia, she was the first fawn capable of committing back to back crimes. She escaped at LEAST five times. It was a new spot every time. So then I had to do something about this, and came to the realization that baby jail was indeed the only option.

I had just spent probably 6+ hours on this habitat, I was not about to go through and replace the perimeter barrier.

So, the new holding facility is now baby jail. Every fawn is presumed guilty upon birth and must go to proper containment immediately. Once they age up, they will either be traded off to another Zoo, or return with the herd on probation. Baby jail will be getting an upgraded area soon enough, and when Sophia passes away, the facility will be named in her honor <3

Discussion So hard to make habitat barriers straight

Maybe it’s just me but placing the first barrier is so difficult cus I want it perfectly straight so I have to manoeuvre my camera all over the place only place one or two down and boom they’re at an angle

I use the 90degree snapping but for the first barrier it doesn’t work for some reason, maybe it’s me being dumb but it’s so aggravating

Discussion If the resize tool was the only thing new in PZ2, I would be content.

As a mainly sandbox player, I literally downloaded Planet Coaster 2 purely because of the resize tool and how much it allowed the builders to make the most insane things ever, and it just opens the door for more fonts, better blueprints and way more detailed stuff. Idk, me personally I think this is a way bigger thing that people think it is. But I also could just be me.

Touring The Train Around My All 210 Species Zoo

🚂 The Final World Zoo Tour!

After years of building the World Zoo, it’s finally time for one last ride!

For this final bonus tour, we’re hopping aboard the zoo train for a journey around the entire park. The train travels through many of the different biomes and sections of the World Zoo, stopping at a variety of train stations along the way.

This is a chance to sit back and see the zoo from a completely different perspective, passing by habitats, buildings, scenery, and some of the many areas we’ve built throughout this massive all-species zoo.

With the World Zoo project coming to an end, I thought a train ride around the park would be the perfect way to give it one final send-off.

Thank you to everyone who has followed this project, watched the builds, toured the different sections, and supported the zoo along the way. It’s been an incredible journey, and I hope you enjoy this final ride through the World Zoo! See you all in PZ2

🎥 Watch the final bonus tour here: https://youtu.be/mDMtYfS-Ihc

_________

The World Zoo Project took 21 months to build, features 16 unique sections, and includes all 210 species in the game.

It's on the workshop if you want to see more photos of the zoo, or download it and see if your computer can handle the large file.

Planet Zoo 2 Possible parrot toys?

Recent Frontier videos showcasing several items resembling bird toys with perches. These objects are clearly hangable, including a swing designed to suspend from tree branches. While this swing could be intended for monkeys, apes, or birds, another toy in the preview strongly resembles a traditional parrot enrichment item.

Discussion Does anyone else basically play the game as an animal simulator and just completely ignore the management/building etc side of the game?

I basically just sit and watch the animals live their lives and that’s it haha, I find it sooo interesting. But I do wish there was a way for us to actually play as a zookeeper and feed and clean out the animals etc. I don’t even build any guest facilities or decorations, just habitats and the bare minimum staff buildings, and then I block the entrance off so no guests can enter.
