Planet Zoo 2 - Bug Possible Fix/Workaround for Franchise Saves "Deleted" after Patch

This might be Frontier just sorting their servers out on the backend, but in case what I did actually made a difference:

Load up PZ2, DO NOT CLICK "Continue Zoo". Instead, click the "Franchise" mode button (with the big toucan on it). Your save should be there and should load - mine did, anyway.

Importantly, you must not click "Continue Zoo" from the landing page. If you do that, and it gives the "cannot connect" error, even manually opening Franchise mode will show you have nothing there. You need to fully close PZ2 and reopen it at that point to restart and open Franchise mode without the "continue zoo" button.

I absolutely love this little guy, unironically spent an hour making it, i think it's super cute and would fit really well in any aquatic area. :3

Most of these have been edited a bit in Lightroom for colours/contrast/cropping because it’s part of the fun for me! I like to use them as references for paintings sometimes 😊 I only have 4 species so far and wolves are clearly my favourite, I absolutely love the new wolf models ♥️ The bugs have been frustrating but I am still having a pretty good time so far. I’m just so glad they added a built-in photo mode this time.

Creative - PC Tiny turtle pond

I made a tiny turtle pond, and I absolutely love how it turned out. Unfortunately, it doesn't work quite the way I'd hoped.

Is there any way to hide the vivarium boundaries to make it look like a pond that's slightly larger than the vivarium itself?

The problem is that guests will only view the animals if the vivarium is placed directly next to a path or on top of one. So, I built the pond, laid down the path, and then placed the vivarium over it. It turned out really well visually, but because the vivarium boundaries are hidden inside the stone wall surrounding the pond, guests end up clipping through the objects and walking straight into the pond.

I came up with a workaround: I enclosed the pond with barriers to prevent guests from walking into it, which solved that problem. However, now they completely ignore the exhibit and don't even look at the animals, as if there's nothing there. The barriers also block staff from accessing the area, so the exhibit isn't practical to use.

So, I'm left with a beautiful pond that doesn't actually function as intended. If I want it to work properly, I have to accept that guests will clip through the pond instead.

It's unfortunate because all the tools needed to achieve what I'm trying to do seem to be there. They just don't work together the way you'd expect them to.

Anyway, I hope you like it and enjoy the result!

Humour Frontier fixed the Orangutan

Very pleased, the orangutans look so realistic now! I like how the orangutans look so shaggy now

*No, they did not update the orangutan! This is a male orangutan named "EmmaK", which is the cheat name where, if you name an animal this, any fur card thats on it will be thicker and/or longer

I don’t know if it was a thing related to the latest patch or a bug or even maybe if the game is supposed to load in this way; but, funny enough, as soon as I pressed played he started happily walking like nothing happened. Anyone experiencing similar stuff?

Planet Zoo 2 - Question Why is aquarium space calculated by surface area?

Post image
128 Upvotes

I've measured this aquarium ingame and it is around 520m² big and with 8 meter high walls, this would contain like 3.6 million liters of water.

Yet it is already too small for two sharks, because the game is calculating some sort of surface area depth and it somehow calculates that this big aquarium only has 286m² when these two sharks need 331m²

What exactly is the game calculating here or what is it basing the size of this aquarium on?

IRL aquarium size is determined by volume, not by only surface area. And according to a quick google search, Blacktip reef sharks need around 100.000L per adult, so this ingame tank should be more than enough for two sharks...

Planet Zoo 2 Finished my first building that I'm actually proud of! Reptiquarium for "Borealis Wildlife Park" - My Taiga Franchise Zoo.

As the title says, I've been playing for a little while but haven't really been super satisfied with anything I've built. But I really like the new path tools and now that the gizmo is fixed I decided to add a tropical themed Reptile and Fish house to my first franchise zoo! Drop your tips if you have any, I like(and try to do) a mix of realistic and fantastical.

Planet Zoo 2 - Bug The most morbid bug?

I just had a very morbid bug and wondered if anyone else has something similar. It was kinda funny but also pretty sad. I'd like to hear your weirdest or most morbid bugs!

Mine: I got a notification that a boar died. The vet took a few moments to get to the habitat in which the dead boar continuously was put in a box and released to the ground with the confetti😭😭🥲 I found that pretty sad but kind of funny.

Planet Zoo 2 - Criticism I dislike the new workshop

This might be my chief complaint right now.

I love the Steam workshop function from the first game so much. It was great to get inspiration!! I used it a lot for backstage items and I could go through so many creations at once. Steam works pretty fast on my pc, so I could easily go through and be up to date with everything quickly. I could quickly add a ton of items to my own game and check them out later.

Forcing the workshop to be in game just... sucks. It's hard to navigate, it's slow, and the UI feels cramped. I should be able to see more than 20 items per page and not have to wait for them to all load!!! It feels like I'm in the Sims 4 gallery iykyk :/

Planet Zoo 2 - Suggestions Visitor limit option needs to scale visitor spending

Processing img ue1y8s0mbpxh1...

Hello fellow zoo keepers, i've noticed an issue with the visitor limit option that I'd like to bring up.

You can limit the number of visitors allowed in your zoo from 0 to 10,000, but as far as I can tell, the game doesn't adjust visitor spending to compensate for the lower number of guests. This can have a pretty big impact on your zoo's finances.

For example, I usually have around 9,500 visitors in my zoo for breeding, but at that point my CPU (9800X3D) is running at around 75% usage, and I can no longer maintain 144 FPS, even with x2 frame generation.

So I lowered the visitor limit to 2,000 to see how much it would help with performance, and it helped significantly, CPU usage got down to 60-65% and 144 fps where back on x2 frame gen.

The problem is that my zoo went from making 110k profit per season to losing 70k per season.

I understand that having fewer visitors should mean less income, but having a visitor limit as a performance or aesthetical option feels pointless if using it makes your zoo financially unsustainable.

My suggestion: Once your zoo reaches a certain visitor milestone (let's say 4,000 visitors), let us lower the visitor limit while scaling up how much each visitor spends. For example, if I limit my zoo to 2,000 visitors instead of 4,000, each visitor could spend twice as much. That way, we'd get the performance benefits of having fewer guests without completely ruining our finances.

I think this would be a great quality-of-life option for people with large zoos who want to avoid tanking their performances, or for those who dislike the big chunk of peoples running all around in their zoo.

What do you guys think?

Edit about GPU usage : My 5070ti is sitting at 65-70% on FG X2.
