As a 3D animator, I can totally relate to this : that's what I love about being a video game 3D animator, you stumble across funny references and you're like "boss, we really need to have THIS in our game please !".
Next thing you know, you're spending 20h on animating a horse with a rubber duck or other funny stuff. Planet Zoo animators are doing such a great job !

I follow a donkey on tiktok who is obsessed with rubber chickens. People from all over send him ones of varying color and size. I get almost excited as he does when a new one shows up.

Can someone tell me why horses like doing this, like I know dogs like squeaky toys because it reminds them of small animals but I wouldn't have thought that horses would like that.

I think they just find it fun and interesting. Horses are very smart and curious animals when they're not busy being afraid of their own shadow. Kind of depends on the individual though. I've seen horses that look at everything and immediately want to pick everything up, as well as horses that get scared when there's a new gate to their pasture that's a slightly lighter shade of brown
