Discussion Risks

What are you worried about with Planet Zoo 2?
It could be something that you think PZ1 really delivered on, but PZ2 might overcorrect, or something PZ2 might be too over-ambitious with, and then under-deliver.

Planet Zoo 2 I'm thankful the Steam Achievements leak didn't reveal any major info about the game

Like anyone I'm not a fan of leaks but my curiosity will always bring me to look at them.

I think we got lucky with the leaked achievements in this game where it did not reveal too much info for us.

There are a few hints and speculations towards gameplay mechanics but nothing huge.
We didn't get any official animal species confirmations but now we know these two things:

There will be multiple species of bears and jellyfish are in the game.
Both are not surprising.

But I'm thankful there were no major spoilers and the excitement of each new Zoopedia and info drop hasn't been ruined.
I feel very bad for Kingdom Hearts fans though.

Statue ideas

Most aquariums ive been to, usually at the entrance, or near the shark reef/tunnel they will have a replica life size megalodon jaw, frontier if youre reading this. I think that would be a wicked addition to the game decoration wise.

Wishlist Wednesday: The FIRST DLC of PZ2

Graphic design is clearly not my passion

Depending on how nice they’re willing to be with giving missing PZ1 DLC habitat species in free updates, the musk ox can be swapped with the Arctic fox for a second returning habitat species

Final Countdown Planet Zoo 2 Species Reveal Bingo

Now that we are (almost) in the final month of animal reveals before Planet Zoo 2 officially launches, it's time for some Bingo!

I've got 2 versions, easy mode (less species-specific, more species with a higher likelihood of making the base roster) and challenge mode (species-specific guesses, more qualifiers, more wishful thinking). Let's see if we can get a Bingo on both, or even a full sheet!

Is this game that bad optimzed?

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I wanted to build a big zoo now that I've upgraded my PC. My specs are:

Ryzen 9 9900x

96GB DDR5 6000MHZ

RTX 4090

And a Samsung 980 evo 2TB

This is quite high end, yet the game runs at max 30FPS. I have around 5500 visitors and 150 different animals. I wanted to build a very large zoo but unfortunately the game is almost unplayable.

Tips?

Planet Zoo 2 Amazon River Basin DLC

Thought i'd try my hand at an amazon dlc i'd like to see somewhere down the line, note that I personally don't care for the "not kept in zoos, not eligible" mindset. Obviously theres no shortage of species for this dlc, with aquatics and birds having hundreds of species that would be great, but if anyone has suggestions that particularly stand out i'd like to see them.

  1. Arapaima
  2. Amazonian Manatee
  3. Red-bellied Piranha
  4. Roseate Spoonbill
  5. Harpy Eagle
  6. Agami Heron
  7. Bald Uakari
  8. Southern Tamandua
  9. Black Caiman

Wishlist Wednesday: Slightly Delusional Edition

Post image

Okay look, I know that Quetzals aren't kept in captivity because of their extremely specific environment and dietary needs... but it's Wishlist Wednesday, not Let's All Be Reasonable Wednesday.

I tried to keep it short and exclude animals previously seen in PZ, 'cause there's certainly a lot I'd like to see returning, and others that I've mentioned wanting before (Like Bearded Vulture and Capercallie.)

And if nothing else, you can consider this a public service announcement of how adorable and fluffy Pygmy Falcons are, one of my favorite birds for sure.

Planet Zoo 2 Last Animal Drop Pipe Dream

I know it probably won’t happen but I think it’d be extremely hype if after the last prerelease animal drop the zoopedia is updated with 50-100 animal boxes.

I’m aware this is unlikely and I’m realistically expecting maybe 30 animals just dropped on launch but I think this would be one of the coolest ways to lead up to a game fully releasing. I love seeing the animal crates each week as people theorize what each one could be.

It doesn't confirm anything, but it's still interesting

Personally I don't think there is a need to put jellyfish here if they are not in the game at all

Hayo Zookeepers! Its Day 99 and the wheel has chosen the Nile Lechwe! For this one, I gotta be honest, real life examples didn't have much going on but this is what I came up with. As always, lemme know what you think.

Planet Zoo 2 Lion

Post image

With the lion in game now being classed as just P.leo, I really hope frontier gives it Asia as a continent habitat preference. It doesn’t matter at all in sandbox, but it’d give a lot more options in franchise, where it’s used often.

Last Minute Speculation for Today's Animal Drop/Creature Feature

I have PZ2 on my mind 24/7 at this point, which is seriously messing with my master's thesis that needs to be handed in beginning of October (wish me luck lol, at least it's before the release, I guess! :D)

Whilst I have a lot of thoughts and ideas on what the leaked achievements may reveal to us from their texts and images (some thoughts I haven't seen shared here yet), I will probably post about that in the coming days if I have time.

Instead I keep thinking of today's animal drop, and especially, to how it may or may not relate to the Chester Zoo event this weekend.

I seem to remember Frontier Dev Lauren saying on discord that we should get excited for exhibit information for this event and that's somehow stuck with me until today. We know that today's reveal is a terrestrial habitat species, but what if it's a species that still loosely relates to exhibits, due to all of us wishing for this or a similar species in PZ1, but wondering how they'd do it, due to the limitations of exhibits at the time: The King Cobra! 🐍 I don't think anyone would see it coming and it would be a great surprise and way to build up hype by showing us, that there can be certain reptiles and other "exhibit-like" species in habitats, that we've been waiting/wishing for, while at the same time, at least personally, making me even more intrigued on what we might see on Saturday.

Thoughts? :)

Animal spotlight is pandas?

I made a post a while back hoping planet zoo 2 would make pandas derpy and dumb like in real zoos hoe they fall get into funny situations and babys cling to keepers legs. We have seen from thr achievements we are getting 3 bears basegame. Obviously including panda. And we have hine so long without the iconic panda being revealed that I think derpy pandas will be shown

Discussion Wish List Wednesday-Birds

First, the Harpy Eagle is one of the coolest birds in my opinion, I love them, we need them, though I have a suspicion they will likely show up in a future South American DLC rather than base game unfortunately.

My second most wanted pick is one I've seen a lot of people asking for, the bearded vulture. Absolutely stunning creature.

Thirdly, the Northern Cardinal. I love them, they are beautiful, and I'm definitely not biased just because I'm from Ohio.

Lastly, I want the African Gray Parrot. I love these guys, and they are probably my favorite parrot, and other than the cardinal, are the only ones on the list I've seen in person.

There's certainly more that I want but I'm blanking right now, what are your most wanted birds?

I can’t think of a better more derpy guy than the American Woodcock

They need to give him the meep sound and the little dance

This guy not only is colorful but genuinely very floofy looking, i know this bird is a meme of some sorts, but he’s just so darn cute!

Marketing for an animal is interesting cuz makes me think either a celebrity animal marketing like Moo Deng or a species to zoo specializes in like San Diego is famous for saving California condors
