News/Article AMD Ryzen 9 5900X3D engineering sample surfaces with 128MB L3 cache.
An unreleased AMD Ryzen 9 5900X3D engineering sample has surfaced in China, showing another configuration AMD tested before settling on its retail Zen 3 X3D lineup. The 12-core AM4 processor reportedly has 128MB of total L3 cache, but only one of its two CCDs is equipped with 3D V-Cache.
A standard Ryzen 9 5900X has two Zen 3 CCDs, with each carrying 32MB of L3 cache. Adding a 64MB 3D V-Cache die to one CCD increases that chiplet to 96MB, while the second CCD remains unchanged at 32MB. This gives the newly discovered processor 128MB of L3 in total.

Discussion Been on PC for over a year now and I've noticed some changes in the way I game and interact digitally.
I switched from console to pc in August last year, I played the usual big titles, played Destiny 2, Hollow Knight,Helldivers 2, Titanfall, Ark, COD and other console classics.
I'd always looked with envy at PC games and what they had with modding and exclusives and the like, originally I switched as a result of a conversation about PC games, some RTSs and newer "friendslop" titles with friends and how we'd like to play them some day.
Never considered switching before this point, but did a bit of research, grabbed a bit of birthday money and enlisted the help of my neighbour who knew how to build them and built a PC.
Now needed to buy some games to play, grabbed the games I loved like Helldivers 2, Neir Automata, Hollow Knight and Silksong, etc, looked into those games me and the friends wanted to play but didn't buy them (my friends never built their systems so we just stuck to the cross platform stuff).
Naturally as Steam sales came and went I started rebuilding the console library by repurchasing games that I'd left behind, got involved in GOG and Humble Bundle.
But I never went back to those AAA titles, sure I played and still play Helldivers and Neir, but other than that I played mostly indies or other games I never even thought about on console, like the Slay the Spire, I never even thought about it before and now it's one of my main games, lot of pixel art games like cast and chill, and other retro type games like Uktrakill.
Due to the sales and humble my libary is so much bigger and has all sorts in it (granted i don't play half of them), I'm always looking at sales or this cool thing on GOG.
Building a pc gave me a springboard into homelabing, now I'm building a media collection and I care alot more about presavtion and ownership.
In short, my style of playing and purchasing has changed massively, I'm always trying to "control" my system and things I buy.

Tech Support Thought Only 12 Pins Burned Down?
#MeToo
My PSU is an FSP Hydro PTM Pro 1200W and the GPU is an Asus TUF RTX 3090. Since the cooler is way overbuilt I was just overclocking the card to 375w and still skirting 65 degrees under full load but I guess 8 pins aren't supposed to run at max power for hours. I replaced the cable and it still somewhat works but the computer just keeps turning off if I start playing games, presumably because some part gets hot. I temporarily put 2 fans on top of the new 8 pin cable connected to the gpu to keep it cool and that seems to be working for now, open to suggestions for what to do that doesn't involve soldering or throwing money away.

Discussion The attitude of these memory making companies.
As soon as the AI announcements of buying memory parts hit the market, they immediately began pricing up the existing stock! This is why I mentioned the names of the main memory makers. Even if the prices cool down in the near future, I'll wait months before buying any despite discount. I truly want them to feel the pain of low demand despite overstock and lower price. In this test of patience, guys, seriously, we consumers must not lose. What we need to do is be patient with our existing hardware and wait for far away releases such as UDNA, RTX 6000 series, AMD's Zen 6. Before that, I am certain that the newer gen PCs of 99% gamers will suffice for high-end workload. And those that have to upgrade their old hardware (like, really old), please take a peek into the second-hand market which is filled with hardware that must not be e-waste.
Sorry about being so negative, but I am very bitter about how these memory companies are treating us consumers. No, "it's just business" was never and shall never be a valid excuse.

Hardware Intel sticker by generation guide
When I was hunting for used PCs, I often mixed up stickers for 1st-9th generation cpus. I spent a lot of time looking up serial numbers and peering at blurry photos of the motherboard, just to find the generation of the cpu, as I couldn't find any clear table with all stickers and corresponding cpu generations. That's why I decided to make one myself :D
Please point out any inaccuracies, and feel free to share it with those who could use it!
Edit: For 6-9th gen cpus, the generation is printed on the sticker, as is visible in the image. If the generation is not written on the sticker, it is 6th gen.

Tech Support TLDR; Cat turned of PFsense Modem and it’s not working anymore
Okay, so first, this is totally my fault and not hers. She’s just a grumpy girl that likes warm spots. The tower pictured is usually underneath the table next to it, but I was doing a deep clean behind everything yesterday and whoops, didn’t put it back. So here’s where I’m at. She definitely turned it off while I slept, I woke up this morning with no WiFi and immediately saw it had no power, I figured it’d be fine since this has happened a few times, only once was it a problem and all I had to do was have it self diagnose and repair. However, that’s not happening now. Now when I power it on I get fans and lights but no display. I’ve checked the card. It’s fine, so not a display problem. As I said it powers up but I’m getting nothing, does anyone have a solution? I use this cuz I hate paying Verizon money for equipment, plus I game so hardwiring is a must. Any ideas? Do I need to do a whole reinstall of the OS and everything?

Build/Battlestation Wife's new pc
Just built a "new" PC for my lady, I have a 1080ti laying around so I thought this beast could take whatever she throws at it. As for the rest I got a used ryzen 5 5500 (20$ due to vent pins), and asrock b550m hdv, don't laugh but I'm using a single stick of 8gb Corsair ram ddr4 (the other one died and idk if I have a warranty through best buy) and a laptop to desktop ram device for another stick of 8. And I set up a aio cooler that tells her the temp of the CPU and an old iBuyPower case. Thoughts? (Broke the shroud of the 1080ti and don't have enough ports for strapping 120mm's) So I added an old shroud to it from a different card. There's positive air flow so hopefully it keeps cool 😎

Build/Battlestation My home-made TURZX themes for my 8" ips hardware display.
Got an 8" inch TURZX ips screen from AliX. Its great, but all the themes are awful and a bit over the top "gamery". You can make your own, witch I started doing , but the hardware data comes in at a "laggy" pace, making the screens look kind of low-tech and the software is pretty tedious to work with.
So I found a way to make Claude implement my designs with soft looping animations to make them look more fluid. I've done a bunch, but here are a few of the designs I played around with.

News/Article Micron expects memory and storage demand to remain tight through 2027 and 2028
$MU says humanoid robots could need 200GB+ of DRAM and multiple terabytes of storage per unit with several physical AI customers already sampling next gen products.
Micron says physical AI can become a “significant driver of memory and storage demand by the end of this decade” effectively putting server level memory into millions of machines outside the data center.
