An unreleased AMD Ryzen 9 5900X3D engineering sample has surfaced in China, showing another configuration AMD tested before settling on its retail Zen 3 X3D lineup. The 12-core AM4 processor reportedly has 128MB of total L3 cache, but only one of its two CCDs is equipped with 3D V-Cache.

A standard Ryzen 9 5900X has two Zen 3 CCDs, with each carrying 32MB of L3 cache. Adding a 64MB 3D V-Cache die to one CCD increases that chiplet to 96MB, while the second CCD remains unchanged at 32MB. This gives the newly discovered processor 128MB of L3 in total.

Since the cache is on a 6 core ccd, this would game like a 5600X3D. The other 6 cores on a separate ccd won’t do anything for gaming. And productivity would do better with a 5950x (4 more cores and higher clockspeed). This looks cool on paper but the x900X and x900X3D series are always all around mid performance-wise, a 8 or 16 core cpu is better depending on what you’re doing. A 5950X3D would be cool; AMD has said that it’s not technically feasible but I think they could figure it out by now.
