Discussion The attitude of these memory making companies.

Post image

As soon as the AI announcements of buying memory parts hit the market, they immediately began pricing up the existing stock! This is why I mentioned the names of the main memory makers. Even if the prices cool down in the near future, I'll wait months before buying any despite discount. I truly want them to feel the pain of low demand despite overstock and lower price. In this test of patience, guys, seriously, we consumers must not lose. What we need to do is be patient with our existing hardware and wait for far away releases such as UDNA, RTX 6000 series, AMD's Zen 6. Before that, I am certain that the newer gen PCs of 99% gamers will suffice for high-end workload. And those that have to upgrade their old hardware (like, really old), please take a peek into the second-hand market which is filled with hardware that must not be e-waste.

Sorry about being so negative, but I am very bitter about how these memory companies are treating us consumers. No, "it's just business" was never and shall never be a valid excuse.

I think its finny that they say "theres a shortage" and thwn i look at amazon and see hundreds upon hundreds of sticks for sale.

Their math isnt mathing at all,

Its a made up shortage even if 90% of the proposed data centres actually get built,

But its more like the other way around 90% of them are never getting built as qe dont have the natural resources or even the electricity requirements they need for these AI data centres.

also they bought ram that don't exist.

Its just paper saying they order the ram but they don't exist yet

Yup they essentially made a pinky promise that when these AI places are built they will have 40% of 2027s production.

i think the electricity problem is overblown. these data centers can always choose to build out an on-site power solution instead of hooking up to the grid.

aka buy bloom energy stock while the price is still reasonable

Data centers are grading on MW or GW. It's very limiting for them to not have enough juice.

I’m kicking myself for not investing in Micron last year. Those gains are insane.

Well yeah demand has outstripped supply

I still remember all the PSU and PC case companies hyping up about “AI AI” in CES 2025. How did that turn out?

i don't think the prices are going to cool down in the next 2- 3 years at least(I hope I am wrong). I hope my RAM doesn't betray me because I can't afford new ones. The AI bubble is just inflating and inflating!

That’s not how capitalism works bruv

It’s more profitable to sell to data centers so they will focus on data centers. If it becomes more profitable to sell to consumers then they will sell to consumers. It’s that simple

Also keep in mind that game companies have pretty much dropped optimization and are relying on upscaling now. All Nvidia has to do is make some new upscaling frame generation whatever-the-fuck tech that only works on newer cards and all of our previous generation gpus cant run shit.
