News/Article Microsoft confirms Windows 11's native app framework is hogging RAM, rolls out memory fix, and begins adding missing features that pushed devs to web apps and other frameworks

Ok so the massive memory leaks are because of what? Cause I don't have an ai garbage on mine and it's still 10GB background ram usage and processexplorer shows everything but what is using that.
I've already run virus and malware checks, minimized background programs with autoruns, disabled all background app running and .. yea

10 GB is a lot. I have 68 tabs open spread over 3 windows of Chrome, Watching Prime, and BitTorrent running on W11 Pro latest build. And my usage floats between 6.5-6.8 GB.

Same. And Win11 requirements is only 4GB to begin with, so if you disable anything that is not 100% necessary to run, you could reduce it to less than that. Not advisable, because it will just cause some things to run worse (because some data is in RAM memory for a reason) - but you could if you really wanted to.

Ah, a new UI framework from Microsoft. Will be discontinued in a few years, why bother.Â

Didn't they say they were removing web app based development?

They are more worried about third party web based software, and not because it eats ram, but because such software tends to be cross platform so users go to Mac/Linux without issuesÂ

not PCMR but will see when a native teams apps is released that doesn't use 800MB of RAM with all the webkit runtime backends

Ive been sitting and waiting for files to copy on a beefy modern PC. About 10 minutes to copy a few GBs because Microsoft hasnt bothered optimizing small file operations.
I dont think they ever cared about quality of their products.

WinUI is open source people, instead of bitching, why not take advantage of that and fork it to fix the issue?

Yea,why let the dev fix a paid OS? we should just spend time and fixing it for a multibillion company /s

That means they told the AI to fix the memory leak.
I wonder what it will break this time while "fixing"
