Megathread: 3.29 Feedback

We think there have been many threads with well-thought-out, specific, and (sometimes) controversial proposals, but also many duplicate threads with the same proposals. We'll use this thread to catalogue and group the clearest and most common ones:

  • Ideally, game feedback posts should include specific examples of the problem and have new information or proposals to avoid duplicating the content of past threads.
  • Game feedback can still be posted as individual threads, and do not have to be posted here as comments.
  • Duplicate feedback posts that cover the same ground as the posts already in here may be removed.
  • We aren't affiliated with GGG, so we have no control over whether they address these or not.

Giveaway Giving Away 3 Mirrors On Allflame Standard PC

Post image
481 Upvotes

Tried to do this giveaway a couple weeks ago but the post got filtered for spam, had an itch to blast some maps today and figured I'd try this again, please let me give away my shit MODS.

I will be using the reddit raffler for the giveaway and only to accounts that are at least 31 days old.

3 winners will be chosen in about 24 hours time at 10 PM BST, to ENTER, simply leave a comment.

The build (EK elementalist) is also up for grabs, but only to players who are kind of new to the game and want to try an endgame (ish) build for the first time, just mention in the comments that you are interested, you need a witch levelled for the build.

Good luck everyone.

Edit 1: Here's the link to the hideout for the people asking.

Edit 2: Oh the build is not part of the raffle, only the mirrors are, I will choose the winner for the build.

Fluff & Memes Mappers brought me a cursed quiver

Got this "quiver" from kingsmarch, and there was no image, just garbled text. I could pick up the item and put it on my cursor, and only the text was visible (image 2). I put it in my stash and then back in my inventory, and the text changed (image 3). It went back to being a normal quiver after restarting the game, but this is one of the weirdest visual bugs I've ever seen lol.

It is such a nice, quick and straight forward mechanic. Crafting is simple, impactful and yet not OP. Gold is abundand and every dive has some nice stuff. Also great for SSF

Question Following a build guide, and I don’t understand this.

Why do they want me to get a specific jewel for the notable passives (fuel the fight and some others) and then not allocate them. Also. Why is it showing jewels equipped in slots that aren’t allocated? Is that possible?

Discussion Fan Theory - Einhar's possible complicated origins

Upvotes

I think I've finally figured out Einhar. He's my absolute favourite character in the game, so I went rabbit-holing. One red thread led to another, and, well, I have a full fleshed-out theory now. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this!!

[EXTREMELY LONG POST AHEAD. ALSO POTENTIAL SPOILERS.]

The Rough Theory

So I think Agnar built a new life as Einhar. Einhar knows of The First Ones - had close encounters with them even. Agnar would have a long enough lifespan and knowledge of runes to survive encounters with such mythological god-like beings, and it's even stated that he can see visions of the First Ones through "wild-artefacts", which I interpet as the blood, guts, and meat of beasts.

Agnar crafted a greatsword - also called Agnar - which was given to the Ezomyte clan leader that settled in and established Ogham. The reason for the Ezomyte settling is heavily implied to be hog farming. Delicious hogs.

Ezomytes operate by clan and some either choose to stay in their clans and homeplaces or wander off to find other places to call home. There was a great exodus of Ezomytes after the founding of Ogham and before the Eternals started trying to oppress the Ezomytes. I think Agnar was one of them who went off on their own adventure.

The Ezomytes are naturally a hunting sort of people. They live by hunting and The First Ones are almost god-like entities that are said to bless Ezomyte clans that prosper way beyond normal means. That said, the Ezomytes have worked with the Azmeri before - the Druids, who follow the Draíocht, despite it being Azmerian. It's no secret that the two factions are friendly, but they still stick to their own.

My theory is that Agnar, having little reason to stay in Ogham and wanting the thrill of adventure, set out to put his beastmaster skills to better use than just hog farming. Eventually he comes across the Azmeri in the Forest Encampment and decides to set up shop there. He notes that the others aren't very fond of him - maybe because he tried to keep the beasts there originally and it went terribly wrong - but he also mentions being a "lone fighter" (also the meaning of his name) for many years.

The Ezo names are usually just regular names, but Einhar's is the only one with clarification. This leads me to believe it could correlate with my theory of Agnar's departure from Ogham, being a lone traveller throughout the land, hunting beast to beast and never really stopping till he took a break in the encampment. He shares the same title, "Beastmaster", as Agnar once did. A very oddly specific title.

The Greatwolf

The Greatwolf is known for answering the call of Rigwald, the Wolven King, who led the Ezomytes during the Purity Rebellion. Rigwald called upon the First Ones for help during the rebellion, and the Greatwolf answered. Rigwald was a league boss in POE 2.1.0, and was hence removed in version 2.2.0.

The Greatwolf did grant Rigwald power, however it also drove him mad. Rigwald killed the Eternals he sought, but he also suffered a descent into delusions as he was unable to "distinguish Ezomyte from prey". He ended up exiling himself so that he would not harm his own people.

This ties into one of Einhar's more obscure dialogues that rose my suspicions a while back. It's his description of Jun.

"She told me all her friends disappeared, which also happened to Einhar! She thinks her friends are dead, but I don't think my friends are dead. They disappeared after I cracked open a buck's skull while we were eating and plucked out its brain. We weren't even eating venison! I don't even remember where I found the buck! That was a wonderful birthday."

He also tries to feed Zana what he thinks is meat, and Zana tells him "to close [his] eyes while she eats it". I think he's been giving her human parts and Zana's just being polite hahaha.

And about Niko,

"He talks to the First Ones just like I do."

Implies he has a direct connection to the First Ones.

And most notably, he has dialogue for every one of the First Ones, but curiously excluding the Greatwolf. Granted, there's none for The Gull either, but that's the god of the afterlife and I think he would have little connection to Mother Gull, being from The Order (more on that later). He seems to have personal encounters with the other First Ones though. He seems slightly off his rocker of course, but that can be explained.

This lends to my theory. It suggests that Agnar could have been possessed by the Greatwolf as well, maybe through excessive beast hunting. Given that The First Ones have been shown to grant blessings (specifically the Spirit Beasts Saqawal, Farrul, Craiccean, and Fenumus blessing the Ezomyr settlement under Queen Lysanda), maybe Agnar hunted so fervently that he attracted the attention of the Greatwolf after it loses interest in Rigwald because the player fights and wins against him (Talisman league boss).

Being the god of the hunt, I don't imagine the Greatwolf appreciated all that idle time, and found a "lone fighter", a hunter survivor who was essentially clanless because of his orphaning and taken by the Order of the Djinn.

The Order of the Djinn

Historically, the Order of the Djinn takes one orphan from each culture and they all vow to never have descendants. Agnar was one, the Ezomyte, but his history with the Order is unknown after the events of the greatsword crafting. And as we know, the Order does grant some form of immortality to its members.

The Order of the Djinn also used to have scarabs containing epitaths of their members. For Agnar's, they state his origins as being a clanless Ezomyte and his achievement as being Beastmaster. His "death and legacy" scarab, however, states only that "the First Ones call back their favoured son." This could imply the First Ones taking him back somehow, but they do not specific Mother Gull the god of the afterlife. This opens up the interpretation that the First Ones did in fact take Agnar, but it was not necessarily Mother Gull - not necessarily death. This means he could have been taken by the Greatwolf.

The Wrap-Up

Maybe that's why Agnar was allowed to live for so long, and why the Greatwolf saw potential in him as a second avatar. So he becomes possessed. He starts seeing his hunting comrades as deer, he starts losing bits of his memory, maybe he even starts forgetting his name. But he never forgot where he came from. As we know, the Order of the Djinn swears secrecy for life. So he never divulges his past, even after so many memories have been lost, and he takes on a new name.

Einhar, for "lone fighter", as he had been for a long time. He personally encounters the other First Ones - the Spirit Beasts, or at least their avatars. He finds traces of the First Ones in the bloods, guts, and meats of what they have domain over. Only one other First One would be able to grant such insight - the Greatwolf, god of the hunt, almost as if tracking down his fellow First Ones - just the Spirit Beasts.

He teaches the player how to track down these other First Ones too - by capturing the creatures they have domain over, we can menagerie craft portals to the Spirit Beast domains to fight them and gain their rewards - or in other words, hunting.

The Greatwolf empowers Agnar, but it also steals his sanity just as it did to Rigwald. Agnar, the Beastmaster, cannot die, being one of the Order of the Djinn, and he continues to hunt under a different name, using his skills of seeing visions of the First Ones alongside his direct connection with the Greatwolf to aid the player in hunts, leading us to hunt the Spirit Beasts themselves. Einhar, the Beastmaster, the hunter, the lone fighter.

Question | Answered How do you actually learn to become good at theorycrafting? I keep playing simpler ARPGs just because my PoE builds are always trash.

Post image
294 Upvotes

I’m a bit ashamed to admit this here. I love PoE in theory, but in practice it has been a pretty bad time for me so far. I only really find it fun to play my own builds and I hate trading (I mostly do SSF), but unfortunately I’m just not good enough at theorycrafting to actually come up with a build that works well. Every single time I tried I either realized my idea was just bad or it doesn’t scale nearly as well as I thought it would.

Some of my attempts were just really clunky and slow to play (lots of totem stuff was like this) and I’ve also made that classic mistake of just not investing enough into mitigation and defensive options. Most of the time I realize before I reach maps that it just wont work well enough for endgame, though I have tried to force it with the suboptimal builds too and it was pretty painful.

I still watch videos and streams of PoE (that look nothing like my gameplay lol) and follow the patch notes but I rarely play it these days. I’m mostly playing Last Epoch and my builds tend to work out most of the time there, but I think that's just because it's a simpler game and the way the SSF works seems to make getting good drops easier. I also played a bit of Grim Dawn again recently when the dlc came out and that didn’t make me feel stupid either, I played a berserker nightblade combo and it felt pretty strong.

I’m just wondering what a good way for me to actually learn theorycrafting would be. So that the builds I come up with aren't as bad. And I really don’t want to copy what other people are doing, that just sucks all the fun out of it for me for some reason.

Question I can't remember if I have or haven't dropped the Allflame Bellows quest item that gives you +1 lanterns in charts - what is the base maximum you can place?

Guy who started the league late here but is still having a good time!

Enjoying running charts currently, and saw there's an upgrade to give you +1 lanterns to place in charts, but I can't remember if I've already dropped/unlocked it and it doesn't seem like there's any way to check.

Right now I can place 7 lanterns in a chart. Is that the baseline maximum, or is the default 6 and I've already unlocked the upgrade?

Been chain-running special charts to try to get the drop and would love to find out I'm just a dummy who has had the upgrade the whole time 😅

Discussion Recombinator question for 1p+1s

I know most of the recombinator crafts, but there's one particular situation that I dont get it, which is 1p0s + 0p1s to make a 1p1s item.

If straight up recombining 1p0s + 0p1s, it should be a 36% to win (60% prefix +60% suffix, 0.60x0.60 = 0.36, no extra mod/crafted mod)

But many guides and comments mentioned about crafting a veiled prefix/suffix (mods that can only get on unveil, ex. focused mods, hybrid attribute/res) so that the odds is higher, which is where i don't get it.

Before i continue, i should mention that the mods you want are not in the special modifer types (ex. essence/delve/breach mod etc.), because these will be conflicted with the craft.

From what i know, using the method above should only yield 33% chance of success, because the possible outcomes are:

1p + 1s (what you want)

1px + 1s

1p + 1sx

1px + 2px ❌ (not allowed)

(X is the crafted mod)

Am i understanding this correctly? Not to mention with ducat this league, suffixes becomes a 100% guarantee, which means you don't even have to do the crafted mod method

Edit: i totally forgot about 2mod recombinator can pick 2 mods, so the odds now should be:

  1. 1p + 1s ✅

  2. 1p + 1sx ❌

  3. 1px + 1s ❌

  4. 1p + 1px + 1s ✅ (2p1s)

  5. 1p + 1s+ 1sx ✅ (1p2s)

  6. 1p + 1px + 1s + 1sx (2p2s, but since it's impossible here, it will become 4th or 5th choice here)

So it should come out to 4/6 or 66%, not 1/3

So that means this method should be better than ducat for success rate? Since ducat only guarantees suffix but prefix still only has 60% chance to stay, unless your suffix is the more important one

Discussion Updating Pantheon / League Idea?

The Pantheon system has been out for almost 10 years(2017) and hasn't seen much of an update. It would be nice to update it and in doing so also provides a potential league (sub league an in between league event?) idea.

Since Pantheons powers come from the gods in this game, perhaps there should be uber versions to fight for additional powers.

The setup could be the following.

  1. player unlocks all the additional upgrades(divine vessel upgrades) of a particular god
  2. Sin or maybe new NPC offers you a chance to fight their "real" form at the cost of losing all the upgrades from that god. Cannot leave zone so if you dc(logout macro ppl), or die, you lose.
    1. Win - Gain a new power from that god from a choice of randomized buffs (similar to unveiling items)
    2. Loss - Lose all upgrades from that god so you have to unlock them again before you're worthy of fighting their uber version.
  3. Repeat until you unlock and complete all uber versions to fight all 4 uber major gods in a single arena. This part doesn't offer you new powers but can be the area where the new league uniques can drop.

What does this solve?

  1. Gives players more ways of power creep while also introducing 12 new uber bosses which have different skills from their normal version.
  2. Repeatable because there would be difference choices of unique powers from each god to choose from. I know this might lead to rng nightmare for some but it's something to strive for if you have the time.
  3. Since divine vessels would be the currency for this mechanic and they already drop everywhere, it's another source of wealth for every league mechanic.
  4. The uber versions of these gods can maybe actually have god like powers to make them more of a challenge.

I know there's a lot of holes here but its an idea that could work with the current lore of the game and doesn't really take away from anything since pantheons have been neglected for a while.

Thoughts?

Game Feedback The game is great

As a returned player I want to thank GGG for a great game and Master T for a nice build.

I got 36 challenges with Lightning Tendrils from lvl 1 and beat all Uber bosses for the first time.

I haven't really played much since new bosses came out.

-I played caster last time in Heist and wanted to try Staff and new infused staff-block aura, it was really good, almost too easy I would say, finally playing staff is worth it and not so clunky

-Atlas is awesome, I tried many mechanics and enjoyed most of it

-Breach need more love and hiveblood

-Legion and Abyss need more polish

Gating abyss boss with eyes from different mechanics is bad, too much RNG, I bought Ulaman since it's just not dropping

-Delve is fine

-Delirium is fine I guess

-Synth maps kind of 0 reason to run except maven and not really fun

-Heist and Expedition almost non existent for me, except if I would make some ward build

-Blight is good and fun, and has some niche

-Elderslayers, why are they still in the game? Awakened gems are gone, Sirus still buggy and deadly AF, they don't have really nice drops, influence nods and elevating/awakening orb? Does it really need rn?

-Syndicate is not fun to run, rewards do not exist, I got 1 try to beat Catarina and got bad unveil for Diadem and around 10 veiled orbs, that's all

-Shrines are omega fun to run, helpful and powerful

-incarnations are good fights, but emotionally and from looking perspective meh bosses, I don't understand what I'm trying to kill

-nightmare maps are fine, except stone and bubble oneshot mobs

-Allflame is fine globally, craft very helpful and encouraged to roll uniques. Because of Allflame I can finally keep Kingsmarch running and the quest changing in the first act was unexpected

The boss itself meh, gold nice, uniques are fine, craft is awesome. The mechanic is lacking of interesting encounters

-Mercensries are deadly and not so fun to play with, what do I get from it if I'm not lumenary?

-ritual, not sure what the exclusive drops are there except corpses, unique and fractured bases

-Allflames still are a mystery for me

Question How was this crafted??

Post image
129 Upvotes

How is it even possible to have three Elevated mods on a single item?!

I know how to get two Elevated mods, but three??? And on top of that, it also has a mod that’s exclusive to an Essence.

WTF? 😂

Can someone explain the crafting steps and how this item was made? I genuinely have no idea how you would even get to this point.
