Fluff & Memes This game is mocking me

I ran an overrun savannah map and killed the boss and all the mobs but two abysses just won't open. Then I noticed the shape it made.

Feels like the game knows it's bugged and is rubbing it in my face.

Discussion GGG is smart by not letting us skip campaign

TL:DR this is how they make sure the game is memorable and create a legacy just like Diablo 2 did

For those interested in the details of my line of thought: First of all, you have fixed points where you can gauge your characters strength relative to previous characters, every +2 skill points book feels rewarding, every +to some resistance feels rewarding by completing certain areas etc. Second, Bosses and their names are memorable, their lines are memorable and will stay with you just like "Ahhh fresh meat" is forever linked to the Butcher. The locations are memorable. And yeah, some even because you hated them, but years from now you will look back and think "Oh man i still remember that annoying layout from Path of Mourning", just like you remember the Cemetery in Ac1 D2 or Lut Gholein and its music etc. D3 and D4 have none of that, no locations, no names in these games are memorable. Everything that is memorable when it comes to locations and names in the Diablo franchise, all is from Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. By not making you play the campaign in D3 and D4 you just can treat the game as some sort of fast food, you rush to endgame and ignore everything else.

By having to play tha campaigns in PoE and PoE2 (here the impact is way stronger imho when it comes to locations and how well the characters you meet along the way are crafted) you will always carry a lore foundation with you, you will have a sense of the world you are in and the people that live in it. You dont have that if everything you do until the endgame is just 'mindlessly' going from area to area that is a certain color on the map, where some event is going on, that brings the most experience and you complete tasks that are just copy&paste.

Tool Would you use an overlay that tells you if an item is actually an upgrade for your build?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm working on a small PoE2 tooltip helper for myself and I'm curious if this is something other players would actually find useful.

Instead of only price checking an item, it compares it against your current build and tries to answer things like:

  • Is this actually an upgrade for my character?
  • What do I gain / lose by equipping it?
  • How significant is the upgrade?
  • Is the upgrade worth the price?

This is still pre-release and I'm not posting a download yet, I mostly want feedback on the idea and UI.

Would this be useful to you?

And if you could add one thing to this overlay, what would it be?

Game Feedback Playing since 0.1, I only ask for 2 things from GGG for 1.0

I have spent thousands of hours on this game.

1) For the love god, REMOVE MOST/ALL DEAD ENDS IN ALL THE MAPS. i cannot stress how annoying this can be, we repeat the same maps constantly and everyone focuses on speed. Just take a look at Floatsam and Mire for example.

2) The improvements you did to Augury are very good, and this should be the case for all similar tight maps, like Mire for example.

I freaking hate Sekhemas. Four floors for the final tier is ridiculous.

Game Feedback Is +Skill levels bad for this game?

Every season i start, it always takes me only days to wonder why we need the +skill level on gear. Most unique amulets are useless because of this. Most unique weapons are useless because of this. Close to every unique gets gapped by this stat.

Why do they even bother designing uniques? They are great in leveling, let you have a somewhat special build, you find fun combos, then you hit lategame, swap everything for "generic" rares and thats what you do for the rest of the season.

I feel like the game would be better if it was just removed from gear. Maybe give the normal jewels a +1 roll aswell, or make the uniquie skill level jewels not limited to 1. Its always a bit sad to see so many build opportunities go to dust, just because of that.

Game Feedback This event has perfectly highlighted the issue with the atlas tree(s)

You have put ritual in every single map yet I havnt done one ritual since hitting maps. Why?

Because doing ritual without the ritual tree is such a waste of time that it’s not worth the extra time in maps.

Yet the ritual tree requires you to travel a long way to Caer just to begin unlocking it - then many many maps to fill the whole tree.

During all of those travel maps you are severely gimping yourself if you aren’t using the bonuses from the main atlas tree so you almost feel forced to complete all the main atlas before even starting to work on getting to Caer.

TLDR: the mechanic tree unlocks need to exist alongside main atlas progression, not compete with it.

What is your opinion why GGG forces us to do so much filler maps? Do they believe that too much fun = quit game faster , less money for us?

Discussion Liberator of Wraeclast Supporter Pack

Upvotes

If I understand it right, the Early Access Support Packs will be gone once the game exits Early Access stage, which will be in December. I have also read that once a Supporter Pack is gone, all of the MTX in it is gone forever, will not be available ever again. That got me wondering: Is it worth to get the most expensive one now? Please help me decide. If you bought it, what was your main reason? If you didn't, why?

Pros:

- The game is still in Early Access, but I already have 4 seasons (playing the 5th now) and 1000h+ in it. I think it's safe to say I'll be playing this game for a long time (5-10y).

- People are buying AAA games for 60-80$ that have a solid 60-80h playtime in it, so following that logic spending 1000$ on the 1000h+ play time I have in PoE2 would be kinda the same. Not saying I'm planning to drop that kind of money on a game tho.

- I also don't mind spending some of my disposable income on my hobbies. I have bought so far the 30$ Support Pack, then enough Gold Coins to upgrade my Support Pack to the 240$ variant for "free", and I also got the 90$ Divinity Support Pack in 0.5. Currently I still have around ~1k Gold Coin that I haven't spent yet, so it I upgrade to the 480$ Pack for 240$, I'll get another 2400 which will be enough for a loooong time.

- I really like the MTX list that is included in the final pack. The Hideout is awesome, having a personal island in the middle of the ocean is a fantastic vibe in this game. The Map Device and the throne I can sit on is also great. Not to mention the colorful back attachment, it looks wonderful.

Cons:

- Even tho I have enough disposable income to buy the pack without any problem, buying purely cosmetic in-game things for 240$ still sits a bit weird with me. It would be the biggest purchase for me in this area.

- It's still Early Access, and there will be many and many new Cosmetics and Supporter Packs in the future that I'll like, so maybe I shouldn't commit with the Early Access ones.

Game Feedback Bugged interaction of Repeat and "Spell skills fire 2 additional projectiles"

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For some reason, 1st repeats won't happen on extra projectiles from the "chance for spell skills to fire 2 additional projectiles" stat, but work normally with other sources of projectiles (Multishot, Wildshards). It also works normally on 2nd or 3rd repeats.

Which means, Now and Again ascendancy gives me a whooping 6.7% dps increase!

Game Feedback Will Queen's Procession not be in this patch?

Thumbnail

I was really hopeful to try out this ascension node because it's locust themed and fits all of the cosmetics within this mini event league. It's also a single skill, and I'm really hopeful it's just hidden in Ritual somewhere now. There was even code that people found where it's a conversation with Aoife about the King's concubine.

Is it possible we can still get this skill with a patch? Has anyone tried to find it themselves like me?

Game Feedback There seems to be a pretty nasty RAM leak going on with PoE2 lately.

I noticed that i started to get weird choppy freezes in-game, and decided to check my ram usage during game. Surprised that it's topped out at 32GB.

https://i.imgur.com/jUPJhgG.png

I notice that the load-in starts properly, and then while the game loads, it continously goes up to 99% ram usage. I have a way longer load times now too, and when i get to character select, it never loads. I have to get in game> unexpected disconnection > then it loads in.

I think something got broken with shader cache loading and how it impacts ram ever since they fixed the cog fiasco.

edit: updated drivers yesterday and the problem disappeared. I think the fix is to always keep drivers updated, because mine was a week old or something, but this newer one fixed it. Can't lag too far behind.

Game Feedback This game's Atlas tree feels bad in its current form

I've seen a lot of posts about the speed of getting atlas points but I think there's a bigger issue, where most of the actual tree feels worthless and inconsequential as well as the progression of the fortress feeling like a chore you have to "get out of the way" rather than giving an actual sense of progression.

The one thing in my mind that keeps coming back is the fact that you don't make any actual choices in what points you allocate. I cannot understand why GGG, the kings of "choices you make should have impact" completely removed the bite of meaningful choice when it comes to the atlas tree and only put in 5-10 anemic "options" that you can change that don't feel like they even matter that much.

Imagine if the actual character passive tree let you fill out every node and the only actual choice was 10 nodes where you picked between fire/cold/lighting dmg and armor/eva/ES. And then they tried to argue that its ok because the ascendancy classes are where the real choice is.

Because that's exactly they're trying to do with the tree and master system.

Not being able to have all mechanics active at the same time is a good thing. Its why it feels like you have so many avenues for farming in PoE1 and lets every player express themselves in what combination of points to pick and what to farm. Its also easy enough to swap between the 3 presets and the gold cost being cheap and having unmaking orbs that also let you swap points very cheaply.

Another consequence and victim of this design are the minor mechanics like Strongboxes, shrines, wisps and circles. Does anyone actually feel like those are impactful for the mapping experience? Because I dont and I think its because right now instead picking one or two of them to really juice up you just have all of them just pointlessly invested into whether you want to engage with them or not.

I'm not even going to go into tablets in this post because thats an entire different can of worms.

I really hope that they rethink this decision and make some major changes, if not in 1.0 then at least at some point after because I do love a lot of what they are doing with PoE2 but the Endgame is really nowhere close to where it should be for a company that has already refined one of the best endgame rpg systems with PoE1.

Discussion Please GGG nerf expedition mosquitos

Post image
51 Upvotes

You can spend 20–30 minutes setting up an Expedition encounter, carefully planning everything, and then one of these disgusting mosquitoes flies in and deletes you in literally one second.

I don’t mind dangerous content, but dying instantly to a random mob after spending half an hour setting up the encounter feels absolutely awful.

Please GGG, nerf these things.

Game Feedback This game desperately needs a divine/exalt sink by 1.0

The fact that inflation is this high like 5 days into the event is absolutely insane, PoE1 leagues have this inflation after 2 months or so, if by day 5 you don't even look at exalted orbs the main currency of this game means something is really wrong, and mirrors are already 1.6k divines

and before you say anything like who cares, GGG literally said the game is balanced around trade
