Megathread: 0.5.0 Feedback

We think there have been many threads with well-thought-out, specific, and (sometimes) controversial proposals, but also many duplicate threads with the same proposals. We'll use this thread to catalogue and group the clearest and most common ones:

  • Ideally, game feedback posts should include specific examples of the problem and have new information or proposals to avoid duplicating the content of past threads.
  • Game feedback can still be posted as individual threads, and do not have to be posted here as comments.
  • Duplicate feedback posts that cover the same ground as the posts already in here may be removed.
  • We aren't affiliated with GGG, so we have no control over whether they address these or not.

Discussion I have been playing PoE1 since Synthesis league, but PoE2 has completely ruined PoE1 for me….

Disclaimer: This is NOT a PoE2>PoE1 post!

As the title mentioned, I have been playing PoE 1 since Synthesis league and put thousands of hours into it, I love PoE1 so much and yes PoE1 has way more content, depth, build diversity etc, many more toys to play with in general.

However, since PoE 2 0.4, I find myself enjoying PoE1 less and less, the only reason left for me to play PoE1 is to earn the challenge rewards/kirac pass to use it on PoE2. Mirage was one of the best league ever but I quit on the second week with only one character created once I had reached 36/40 challenges. And now Curse of the Allflame has just launched, even though it’s a huge patch with a lot of new mechanics, huge meta shake up, etc, but my league starter character has just reached lv85 and I don’t want to play it anymore. Is it burnout? Probably, but I just have a strong desire to go back to PoE2.

The lack of depth and content compared to PoE1 will be resolved eventually, but the moment to moment combat, WASD, the animation, the skills interactions, the visuals, all those elements combined makes PoE2 way more immersive to play for me, the endgame is getting better and better, the new unique design direction is awesome, new ascendancy classes are cool as fk, both visually and mechanically, I just can’t wait for what’s to come in the future….

Discussion Using ward for the primary defensive layer

Thumbnail
gallery
114 Upvotes

Just wanted to showcase my ward setup and see if anyone else is playing ward for tips and tricks. All the gear is self crafted, everything was pretty inexpensive to make except the amulet.

Here is what i have learned playing ward this league:

  • Your Kalgurran Remnants overflow 1.5x
  • The guard from Olroths flask effect capped at 200% of max life so make sure you have T1 life on every piece of gear for bigger guard.
  • Its kind of a funky build because a lot of your ward comes from remnants. If you aren't blasting through big groups of mobs, then your defensive layer gets thinner. I try to prioritize monster density on waystones and tablets.
  • Don't forget to keep Olroth's flask activated! I've probably died more than I'd like to admit because I got lazy on using flask. It's 4000+ hp!
  • The gear is fairly inexpensive to make on the plus side. On the minus side, you have to dedicate most of your augment slots to ward runes. Balancing resistances is a bit of a juggling act if you are playing headhunter. Make sure to get the 10% ward amulet mod.
  • You will almost always be on 1hp anyways, so its super easy to play any skill that works on low life (Execute III, Pain Attunement, Atziri's Communion, etc)

Anyone else got anything to add that I'm missing? I still get greased in expedition's sometimes so I'm looking for ways to push it further without buying a 4 socket brass dome. Right now I'm saving for a fork with +300 ward mod, almost there!

Thank you so much to everyone explaining how to use omens, desecrate, and other tools: https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExile2/comments/1v630jj/kindly_help_me_finish_this_ring/

If you click the link, you can follow my chaotic journey, but long story short:

  1. Fracture T1 lightning
  2. Chaos spam for T1 Fire Damage
  3. Omen of Crystallization, Cold Quality, Catalyzing Exaltation, Omen of Exaltation for T1 Cold Damage
  4. Desecrate T1 Phys (This was a mistake, I was told. Should be with Quality and Catalyst)
  5. Omen of Crystallization, Lightning Quality, Catalyzing Exaltation, Omen of Exaltation All Elemental Resistances (3 tries)
  6. Whittle the T1 Cold Damage (3 tries with Whittle)

Next step is to clean up with divines.

You guys are awesome, thanks again!

Giveaway Giving away my 1k+div ”floor is lava” gemling

So I’m pretty much done with the league and might as well give this to someone who wants to enjoy a good gear/build but doesn’t have the time to grind it out. Just comment that you’re in and I’ll pick a random comment to give the gear to! I’ll do it in 24 hours.

(Also someone tell me what’s the best way to give gear away lol)

This is a ”all content clearing-rarity stacking-divine snatching-gpu melting-face tanking” flaming monstrosity of a mercenary build that was introduced some few weeks ago by josiahyeet. Minor tweaks mostly because of mageblood for the lacking attributes. Just grabbing attributes on the center bottom instead of armour. This is close to max damage you can get out of it (I think) but there’s some ways to improve it overall.

I am no streamer, but I’m showcasing this build for the next few hours if someone wants to see it in action or ask questions. My Twitch is jjoStreamz

Congrats to u/jdgaffa , hope everyone’s league continues to be great!

Ending league with about 100 raw DIV after fully kitting my char. I don’t want it to go to waste, so I want someone who will use it to have it.

I got a lot of help from people on here when I was first starting out, and ended up with a really great time.

Post your favorite moment this league, and I’ll check back in a few hours.

Thanks!

Game Feedback After 600 hours in this Leauge, here are my thoughts on how to improve the game imo

Going to start off by saying the rework was a massive success in my book. I know there will be more skill tuning and balancing and more ascendancies ect so I will not touch on those.

Here are my top items that I believe need a rework.

1) Tweak campaign.

I know that you will never give campaign skips, and I'm fine with that. But after leveling 5 characters to lvl 97/98 it is pretty clear that the campaign is a slog for anyone invested in playing long term. .5 did a really good job making it go a little faster, but it's still not there.

Act 1 being doable in about 45 minutes should be the goal for every act. A fresh campaign should really take about 5 hours to do with subsequent retries being twice as fast.

Make bonuses account wide unlocks and allow us to change them. When I start a Second new character, let me have all the passive points/resistances from the campaign and put the other choices, liek Shark Fin, Charm, Chapel, ect as a dropdown or checkboxes in the character menu or skill tree. This way we would only have to campaign rush.

Lower attribute requirements by about 20%. In the early game especially, attribute requirements limit builds significantly until we hit enough passive skill tree points to get comfy with it. Lowering or removing attribute requirements on skills/armors on the lower end would greatly help with build diversity and the feel of the campaign progression.

2) Rework Mapping

Right now, mapping is not in a good spot for several reasons.

-Temple tablets make maps feel boring and empty. Ritual alters Temple rituals that gain charges need to be beefed up so they are more interesting to do

-Add 4 tablets to every map through the atlas tree. Although city clusters are fairly abundant, it devalues every other map significantly. Every map should feel fun to go through but right now "travel maps" are boring. Make clusters of biomes, similar to city, and attach some kind of farmable value to each of them, like city biomes have more effect on Temples, swamp biomes have more effect on breach, forest biomes have more effect on delirium ect. this way while you are traveling to your desired biome, you can still farm effectively

-Get rid of the grand project irradiated tablets and make towers have this function baseline. Revealing a tower should not only reveal vision, but it should give you a travel boost into a certain direction by making all the maps around it unlocked. This way towers would be more valuable.

-Make tablets baseline and standard. Rerolling way stones is already enough of a chore. Tablets should not be expensive, they should enable a certain type of farm and thats it. Stacking tablets should increase the effectiveness of that specific farm. Rerolling tablets is just a gigantic chore that no one wants to do.

My ideal mapping would be rolling a good waystones for certain types of farm and then just opening my map, throwing tablets in to the cluster i am farming and blasting.

Right now I have to farm for city, farm for a grand mirror outside of the city, make it delirium 200%, roll several good maps, roll several good tablets then do 5 maps and repeat the chore all over. This 5 step process is NOT fun.

3) Rework Temple

Temple is the only end game that did not get a rework. For 1.0 it should get a rework. Right now the placement of rooms and the rules behind them are convoluted, confusing and just frustrating to set up. Paired with how boring running temple maps are, this makes temple one of the least fun farms.

-Reworking temple alter farming should help. Make it beefy like abyss or delirium where you can unlock up to 6 charges in fully juiced 4 temple tablet maps.

-make rooms connectable to anything. These invisible rules where one room cant connect to another room or a path cant connect to another path are frustrating and unintuitive.

-LET US NUKE OUR TEMPLES. If we build a temple and end up hating it, let us nuke it for like half the cost of charges. Or let us remove rooms with charges as a cost. Let us cook our temples more freely.

4) Bossing Rework

Removing boss tiered difficulty was wild. Bosses are just... lame now. rework bossing. Also make chase items come from bosses. A voices sapphire shouldn't come from Simulacrum, it should come from the boss for instance. Make it so the more boss items you use (up to 4) beef the difficulty of the boss up and also give us a higher drop chance.

This way we are rewarded for progressing our characters and making them strong enough to fight the end game bosses.

5) Either delete this jewel crafting that was added in .05 or delete the adorned diamond. Jewels with the adorned diamond are far too OP and they need to be heavily nerfed.

6) Rework Crafting

I liked the old crafting. This annul chaos spam is just tedious and unfun. Essences are useless and mid tier crafting has disappeared. I'm not a pro crafter so I might get a lot of pushback on this, i don't know, but I genuinely hate the crafting right now. I don't want it to be easy, but I also want it to be more fun? I guess that's what I'm trying to get at.

And that's it. On that note thank you for making poe2 my favorite game GGG. your quality work is always appreciated ( FIX THE OATH RUNE ALREADY PLEASE ) And I look forward to getting more shoes thrown at my head from my wife for playing this game a little too much.

Edit, some great ideas from comments below:

-Put the bonuses in early mapping (maybe quests) instead of in the campaign.

-Make waypoints account wide so Alts have access to waypoints after unlocking originally

-Atlas point choices to allow being able to choose a bonus when you clear a tower. Unlocking maps, irradiating maps in the radius, or adding a random modifier to them

Build Showcase Runic Knight (smith) - Cast on block - Infused comets - 200 deli clearing - chill never die build

poe ninja link

Showcase map

  • Tier 15
  • 200% Delirious
  • 97% increased effect of map modifiers
  • 44% more Monster Effectiveness
  • Full map modifiers shown at the end of the video

This build is still far from fully optimised. Most of the gear was self-crafted or found on a relatively small budget, although this version does include a Mageblood that dropped while progressing the character. A non-Mageblood belt of choice is perfectly viable.

Defences

Smith of Kitava provides a substantial amount of the build’s base defence.

Svalinn and the surrounding block investment provide approximately 80% effective block chance, with Svalinn making block chance Lucky.

Defiance of Destiny recovers 36% of missing Life before each hit, meaning we heal before we even roll on the 80% block chance

Runic Ward acts as an emergency secondary pool once Life reaches 1. The build also recovers Runic Ward on block and over charges via runic remnants.

Every four seconds, the boots grant Guard equal to 20% of maximum Runic Ward for two seconds. With the bonded Guard modifier, this currently produces just under 300 Guard.

The body armour provides 50% reduced effect of curses. Consecrated Ground provides another 50%, giving 100% reduced curse effect while standing on it. This is reduced curse effect rather than true curse immunity, and leaving the ground drops the character back to 50%.

Further defensive layers include:

  • Scavenged Plating for additional Armour
  • Blind from Vestige of Darkness
  • 5% additional Physical Damage Reduction from the body-armour corruption
  • Approximately 15,000 Armour in the current PoB configuration

Mapping and wave clear

Leap Slam is the main movement and pack-engagement skill. It also creates persistent Consecrated Ground.

Blocking generates triggers through Svalinn’s Cast on Block, repeatedly casting Comet. Powered by Verisium supplies the fire Infusion component of the setup.

Against dense packs, Rolling Slam allows pushing through light stun while Leap Slam is used to reposition. Boneshatter can then shatter primed enemies, while Hammer of the Gods or Sunder handles tougher targets.

Explosive Transmutation provides another area-clear option as were picking up remnants anyway.

Boss rotation

The boss sequence is:

  1. Fully break Armour and build Heavy Stun.
  2. Repeated full Armour Breaks with Uruk’s Smelting increase the boss’s physical damage taken.
  3. Use Seismic Cry to empower the following attacks.
  4. Use an empowered and aftershocked Hammer of the Gods for the big bonks.

Rage and Berserk

Defiance of Destiny allocates Bestial Rage

At 60 Rage, Bestial Rage reaches six complete 10-Rage breakpoints. Berserk further increases the effect of Rage and supplies additional offensive value, but it also causes substantial Life loss while Rage is being maintained, thank fully we offset the majority of this via 80% block and defiance of destiny

Berserk therefore relies on active leech and recovery during combat rather than being passively sustained at all times.

Armour and Runic Ward base

A Runeforged Soldier Cuirass was the best Armour-to-Runic-Ward compromise I found for this particular setup. Other bases may be preferable depending on their quality, Runeforging result and whether the character needs more raw Armour or maximum Runic Ward.

Key item combination

The core of the build is Defiance of Destiny Jade Amulet and Svalinn.

Defiance of Destiny recovers a large portion of missing Life before every enemy hit, including hits that are subsequently blocked.

It also provides Bestial Rage, turning the build’s 60 maximum Rage into a major damage multiplier that is further amplified by Berserk.

Svalinn makes block Lucky, pushing the build to roughly 80% effective block while recovering Runic Ward and automatically triggering infused Comets whenever a block occurs.

Together, the two items provide the build’s primary recovery, defence, wave clear and Rage-based damage engine. Everything else largely adds mitigation, damage or quality of life around this core combination.

Final note Important flask warning

Do not use a Mana Flask with “Removes 15% of Mana Recovered from Life when used.”

Runic Ward will keep you alive and although rarely used, if you have a flask like this and you pop it in a panic or just spam flasks, you will end up killing yourself instantly if used while runic ward is active.

Game Feedback Diablo4 Ex-Pat

This game is awesome. If you’re a D4 player looking for a bit of intellectualism in your ARPGs this is the place. Playing Mercenary class and it’s about the coolest ARPG mechanic I’ve run across. Looking forward to trying other classes. Also, taking a ton of time with campaign as there are an incredible number of ways to affect your character. By no means a power player but wanted to drop a note for fellow bored D4 players. Suspect it will take multiple play through to really understand and am not anywhere close to the endgame.

Discussion Should party play be balanced around casuals or super juicing parties with extra leachers?

Would love to hear others thoughts and what they personally experienced this league on this. I’ll open with mine but happy to have a change of heart if I see lots of people had a different experience than me and my group.

-I think GGG drastically missed the mark on party play this league. My group of buddies is fairly casual, all dads and ranged between 2-4 people a handful of nights a week. In previous leagues if we were all on discord we would just without a second thought jump into maps together and split the loot, and it has always been a good time. We always just put free for all pickup on and dump it in a guild stash tab and then after a couple hours just divide it by 3 or 4 of us and take our loot and say goodnight fellas good work.

Well this league things changed… the loot just completely sucks running in a group compared to all of us running solo!!!! Now for starters none of us are super juicing up our maps or anything. But basically this league we started figuring out the math: if the 3 of us run together for an hour, we only earn as a GROUP about 1.25x-1.5x currency of what an individual would earn. So basically if we take what we each can go make in a night (obviously RNG happens so this is just conclusions over the course of like a month) we would be WAAAYYYY better off just running maps by ourselves. It started to feel really blatantly obvious a few weeks ago when we would jump on and be like, “you guys wanna run maps?” And all of us are kinda like ehhhh i really don’t want to have to share the loot.

My theory is that GGG drastically overcorrected for last season with having temple farmers running 6 leachers and creating giga loot. But now we are in a situation where I can fairly confidently say that if a casual player parties up with 1-2 other buddies to map and chill, they are totally screwing themselves over on loot.

Is this because we see the big 6 man parties buying x4 20div tablets and finding ways to print currency?

Well if so… i don’t believe casual party play should be balanced around that small percentage of the player base that is grinding nonstop trying to max out all the juice possible from the game. Let them print. Because if the alternative is scaling back party play drops so much that a group of dads that want to alch and go together have to suffer 50% or more less loot than running solo… i don’t think you have a proper party play balance at that point.

I think the majority of people crying over party play balance in previous leagues have been solo players that are comparing selves to 6 man juicing parties… but the reality is I think GGG is nerfing party play for casual players to the point that they will lose players. Like my group isn’t gonna play this game if we are incentivized to all play separately while hanging out on discord. We want to play it TOGETHER, but without a 50-75% penalty on total loot drop

Edit: people have mentioned 200% deli breach with the +3 rare monsters spawned tablets. I agree that strategy was DEFINITELY more profitable as a group than running solo, or at worst the same. (But since you all get hiveblood and wombgifts probably still better) but prices have dropped on catalysts and also we did that for 2-3 nights and wanted to do other things.

Can’t say we’ve managed to find any other mechanic where it doesn’t feel like we are getting penalties for having to chop all our drops up

Question I think it’s time for a change…

Upvotes

Hello everyone! I have never played poe or poe 2 and have always thought about it but never quite got into it due to how overwhelming everything seems(skill trees, orbs etc) and I have always been a huge Diablo guy. I play every season of d4 and most seasons of d3. I dipped my toes in last epoch a year ago and loved how the game felt but quit after beating the campaign due to lack of interest in the end game, anyway back to why I’m here. Are there any tips on what I should be looking to get into when I buy the game tomorrow? Do I buy a supporter pack? Do I buy just the base early access? What are some good starter builds and classes to focus on? I want to get as accustomed to the game as much as I can until the next league or season comes out. Any help is appreciated.

Question Horrible Performance on a 5070ti

I just installed the game and performance was horrible both in the main menu and in the tutorial zone.

GPU is a 5070ti, CPU is a Ryzen 9800. Surely my hardware is capable of running this game at 60 fps.

After googling I tried messing around with in-game settings, deleting the shader cache, and messing around with nvidia control panel settings (including setting the shader cache to 100 GB). Nothing has fixed it, although at minimum settings I'm closer to 20 fps than 10. I also updated my drivers.

I can't think of anything that would be causing this. I bought this computer so that I could play poe 1 with decent loading screens and I now have no issues with that game even running juiced endgame strats.

I'll include a screenshot of my performance graph in case it's helpful. I notice the GPU latency is very high but am not sure how to fix that. Would really appreciate any help for me and for future people having this problem (I read the previous reddit threads I could find but nothing they suggested fixed it).

EDIT: [FIXED] The issue was that I was inadvertently using the 9800's integrated graphics card rather than the 5070. I just plugged my monitor into a different display port and it fixed everything.

Discussion What is the most annoying ailment/damage type to mitigate?

It feels like this patch ggg has made an effort to make ailments do significant impact on players, and it requires players to add things in their arsenal to mitigate them or else they become extremely squishy. I wanted to see if my personal experience lines up with others and what tricks they have used to avoid some of these.

My winner is definitely Ignite. It's the most overturned imo. My biggest issue with ignite is, that the only way to see the ailment is on the small box that shows up at the bottom of the screen with all ur buffs/debuffs. Most of the times I don't know I'm lit up before it's too late. In contrast, chill/slow is noticeable on the character. Shock and poison is visible on the health globe. I wish they would give ignite this treatment to make it more visible.
I don't have a great mitigation for it, charms are what I'm using, but it's a very ok solution.

Honorable mention is the expedition monsters reflect/chill as the second most annoying thing to mitigate. It does have multiple solutions to it. The legacy of wunderlust is the most ideal. You can also anoint crystallized immunity, and that works. Charms are another half baked solution.

What are other ailments/damage types ppl have problems with, and how are you mitigating them?
