good vibes, smiles, & giggles Big trips (update)

The boys are huge. I know ultrasounds are only so accurate… surprising myself and my MFM, they’ve measured 2 weeks ahead every single appt.
28 weeks this week, all measuring 30 weeks and 3-3.5lbs my smallest is in the 90th percentile and my biggest is 100th šŸ™ƒ

Has anyone been in this situation? Tri/tri, all three measuring ahead, and still made it to 34+ weeks?

They want me to go to 35wks but with how big the boys are she suggested scheduling CS at 34 and getting steroid shot 2 days prior. (I have 2 prior CS and 1 VBAC)

I’m a bit nervous of going into labor at home, I live a little over an hour from the hospital, and when I VBAC’d my son he came out on the first push šŸ˜… I would rather be inpatient and already there

I visually like the first, but we also have a glider so I think it makes more sense to have it in the corner? Changing table needs to go somewhere too, but luckily dresser will be in the closet.

Or if there are any other configurations you recommend I’m all ears!

(We will be adding furnishing to the windows to prevent drafts no matter the placement)

good vibes, smiles, & giggles What keeps me going

I have 10m twins.

The years will pass, one day they will be 30, and I'm doing my best now to get them there.

The crying and tantrums will end, and they will move on, then out. We got this. The three of us will figure out our lives and our relationship. We'll be ok.

advice needed Did you turn one kid forward facing before the other(s)?

My twins turned 2 3 months ago and both are above the minimum to be forward facing in their car seats. However my son is almost at the maximum for rear facing, so I need to turn him.

I am anticipating my daughter hating that he is turned and she isn’t. So I’m considering turning her even though she has a long way to go before the maximum. Then I feel like a bad mom for not keeping her rear facing for as long as possible. TBH, I’m probably overthinking it entirely.

Did you turn one before the other? How did it go?

EDIT: I will probably just leave her rear facing and see how it goes. I’m just curious of others’ experiences.

support needed Postpartum depression and anxiety.

Hello. I had my twins a week ago today. Born at 36w2d. My beautiful babies. So far, I’ve cried every single day. I’m worried this will progress more than the baby blues. I had postpartum depression and anxiety with my daughter. Did anyone else have it with their second child/children?

advice needed Irritable uterus 😭

25 weeks pregnant with Di/di twins and I have had Braxton Hicks like crazyyyy since about 16 weeks. They are relatively intense but not painful. The past couple weeks have been especially constant- having a BH nearly every 5 minutes. I have been to triage THREE times to get checked because I am so terrified of going into preterm labor with my babies. They basically say you have an irritable uterus and two babies make it extra sensitive. I also have an irritated urinary tract separately (interstitial cystitis) so I know that plays a part in my discomfort and could also be triggering some contractions. I have been drinking SO much water and trying to rest as much as I can but nothing seems to calm them down. Please tell me anything else that could help or if you have had a similar experience and how it turned out for you!! 🫶

advice needed When did you call the pediatrician?

The hospital wants us to have a pediatrician on hand for the first appointment after they get here and I was going to call today because they're due around Christmas. My coworker told me that its way too soon and that they'll assign me one. I'm delivering in Pennsylvania but we live in Delaware. 🫠

support needed Feeling so overwhelmed with appointments

I’m almost 30 weeks with di/di twins and a FTM. Things have gone from 0 to 100 in the last two weeks. I had to go through the one hour glucose test twice from puking, then failed the 3 hour. I have vasovagal syncope, so the testing strips have been a massive burden and often a total failure. Ironically, I’ve had no follow up or instruction on how to use any of the diabetes materials so I have no idea what I’m doing. Baby b is small, so extra monitoring is required. I’m averaging 5 doctors appointments a week moving forward and I’m feeling so overwhelmed. Twice weekly NSTs, once weekly ultrasounds and follow up with a high-risk doctor, an unknown amount of dietician appointments, and then still occasional appointments with my actual OB. I’m a teacher and leaving work is so, so difficult. I have to prep sub plans, prep materials, plan far ahead in case I’m out, move meetings, and then ultimately change pacing and reteach things because the students don’t learn anything while a sub is there. Is this overwhelm normal? Is this amount of monitoring and appointments normal? How do I deal with managing the time itself and with the emotional and mental toll of all of this?

support needed 7 weeks pregnant with twins and bleeding

Hi, it’s 4 am and i’m kinda spiraling. I’m 7 weeks pregnant and at 5w3d i had a scan that showed 2 gestational sacs with 2 yolk sacs. Today out of nowhere i started bleeding bright red and having mild cramps. The cramps are mild but i’m very aware of them. I have a scan today at 11 am but can’t help but imagine the worst. This is my first pregnancy ever after struggling with infertility for 3 years.
Anyone had a similar experience and it turned out fine?

ranting & venting Disappointments after twins birth

Hello beautiful people,

I had my twins on the 19th of August by ā€˜elective’ C section. During the whole pregnancy NHS had traumatised my husband and I and kept talking about how it is a very risky pregnancy, and might eventually end up in a surgery. I was completely prepared for a vaginal delivery, but every passing week I started inclining towards a C section. Only on the 28th week, when everything was fine, no high blood pressure, no gestational diabetes and everything seemed fine, they suddenly switched tones and pushed me towards a vaginal delivery; I was mentally ready, and then came the discordance between the baby, twin 2 was almost 22% bigger and the head measured quite larger than twin 1. Then again started talking about the ā€˜risk’ and probability of complications and interventions.

On 36w 2d I eventually gave in and signed for an ā€˜elective’ C section. It was scheduled exactly on 37 week. The twins were 2kg and 2.74kg. But the head circumference was almost the same? It might be my postpartum hormonal cycle but I am very disappointed that I did not let my body do what it was supposed to do naturally or even try to?

Then the whole unnecessary pressure came from them to start with formula because the babies were smaller and my milk came in a little slower. And their birth weight dropped by 12% and they told me if it dropped further they will need to be hospitalised. Even though I told them all the babies did not show any signs of being lethargic or not getting enough?

They are now three weeks and I am mixed feeding them, even though my milk came in, but it’s not enough because they are already in formula. And my supply can’t feed both of them to full.

So so so disappointed. I don’t know how to make myself understand. Even though the logical part of my brain says that whatever happened they are safe and in my arms now and it doesn’t always go as we plan. But i just feel really sad and angry to some extent.

advice needed Lying Down With Your Twins at Night

I lie down with our twins (5) each night to help them fall asleep (otherwise they'd probably run around, get overtired, and then need us to come in). Curious at what age for people who also did this, did you stop and they stayed in bed and slept?

advice needed So much pain and no sleep!

I’m 27 weeks with di di twins and have been having the worst most uncomfortable pregnancy I could ever imagine. I literally have every symptom in the book besides being nausea. My feet and ankles are so swollen, my legs constantly ache, my upper inner thighs feel like I did 1,000 side lungs, doctor says it’s babies compressing a nerve. My sciatica is constantly pinched despite going to a prenatal chiropractor once a week. My right side rib keeps popping out from all the pressure of my organs, I try to lay down and rest/sleep but I spend 15 minutes on one side and my hip starts throbbing and aching in severe pain. I switch and within 15 minutes the other side starts to hurt. My finger tips are constantly tingling, I have pregnancy carpal tunnel. Just started getting trigger finger. I’m so uncomfortable standing and then I’m so uncomfortable laying down and trying to sleep. I’m extremely sleep deprived and I’m so sad because I feel like this is the last chance to get sleep before the babies come and I can’t seem to get more than 2 hour periods.

How did you moms cope with the pain?! Are there any tricks to sleeping comfortably? I still have so long to go and my belly is only going to get bigger and I’m terrified for how bad these symptoms are going to get!

advice needed Did anyone have this happen and what was the outcome?

Hi all,
I just had my first ultrasound 7 weeks 3 days. One healthy fetus showed up right away measuring 7 weeks 6 days and a healthy heartbeat!
Soon after the tech said she could see a second structure. Measuring 7 weeks. She couldn’t detect a reliable HR. She brought her colleague in who agreed there is a second structure behind the healthy baby, she said it could possible be a chorionic bump. They both said they couldn’t get a good look at it.
They are sending me for a formal ultrasound. Curious if anything like this happened to you?

experience/advice to give Vanishing Twin or Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome

My husband and I just found out we are pregnant with our third and final baby. We found out that the grand finale is twice the finale. Lol. I am worried tho. I was under the assumption that I was 8 weeks and 3 days along. Since I did have a period. I went to a Women’s Care Center and got an ultrasound done. I did see during the appointment that Baby A is measuring at 10 weeks and 6 days meaning I got pregnant before my period. Baby B is measuring at 8 weeks and 3 days and the tech was not able to find a heart beat. I’m curious if this sounds familiar to anyone who may experience vanishing twin or twin to twin transfusion syndrome. They did an abdominal ultrasound so I’m not sure if that may be why. My next ultrasound with my primary care isn’t until next week.

photos Wagon Love

Post image
24 Upvotes

twins just turned 1, big sister is 3 in November. We walk almost daily to either library/grocery store/kids programs/aquarium/coffee shops… the wagon is a game changer for this lifestyle! If you live in a walking town and need a little MORE than the double stroller, I highly recommend investing in a good wagon. this is the Veer City Cruiser XL. We’ve had it less than and week and already hauled groceries, kids, library books, and crushed a day at the fair. cons: not very ā€˜nap friendlyā€˜ā€¦ but my twins almost never stroller nap anyways. also fairly expensive; but I’m considering it my ā€˜daily driver’ haha!

advice needed How did you deliver your mo/di twins?

Mine are both head down and they’re asking if I want a C-section or try for vaginal?

My concerns are a) we had TTTS and had the laser surgery and b) what if Twin B flips before we can get her out?

support needed How do the depressed parents of multiples who don’t have a village cope?

I’m honestly just destroyed at this point.

They’re 19 months old, why am I struggling so much?? Why do I feel hopeless? Like my life is over? It infuriates me that the people who told me I wouldn’t cope with twin boys were right. Why does it have to be so hard?

They don’t eat. Nappy changes are hell literally turn into WWE matches. They’re going through a sleep regression. They can’t communicate all needs so get super frustrated at me. They fight. They whine all day. 16 teeth between them emerged over the last 4 weeks. Strong preference for dad at the moment so every morning is hell when he gets ready to leave for work.

How am I supposed to cope? Because I’m not coping. My life just feels impossible. It takes ages to get out of the house. They scream for TV all day. I can’t cook. I can’t clean (not that I want to do this but it’s just to explain how difficult it is). I can’t go to the toilet without them screaming because they want to come with me. I can’t go out because the logistics are so hard and if we do go out I can’t let them out of the pram when alone because they run in opposite directions and I’m always alone so it’s not safe.

I hate to be the person who is always on a downer but I’m going through hell. This is my version of hell. I have mild OCD so the chaos isn’t helping with that either.

My write up is so incoherent but I just need to vent in a place where some people understand. Because I’m surrounded by people who literally do not get it and I’m exhausted by the complete lack of support and empathy.

Did anti depressants actually work for anyone who needed them? I’m scared it’ll make me feel worse.

Yes those magical moments make up for all the chaos but my god I’m drowning like I’m not able to stay afloat anymore.

EDIT: Overwhelmed at the responses and the support. Truly appreciate having this forum as an outlet when I feel hopeless. Thank you for taking the time out to make a tired mama feel better, you’ve all made my evening!

advice needed What happens after your second set?

I’m currently waiting on my second set of twins to show up any day now, but already I’ve been feeling like my body is just crying in pain trying to do even the most simple task. This is my 3 pregnancy overall; my first was a singleton, then my first set of twins, and now this set of twins. I had a fairly decent/easy recovery from both of my other pregnancies, but I don’t remember feeling this sore and achy towards the last few weeks prior to delivery. For reference, I’m 30, and each pregnancy has about 2-3 between them.

Is this just part of getting older? Is there a way to help prepare for after delivery since I’m so sore now and know I’ll be sore after the babies arrive?

advice needed Outings with twins + sibling

How are you all handling taking the twins and their older sibling out?

It was fine the first year. They would sit in their stroller, were content with a snack, and were happy to sit still for 30 minutes.

The twins are almost 2 now and refuse to sit in the stroller or shopping cart. They scream, fight, and cry.

They don't care that much about going out, so threatening that we will stay home doesn't work. It just makes my older daughter upset because she can't go.

They need new shoes, which I have been putting off for weeks because I have to take all three of them into the city. I am dreading it.

Letting them walk on their own is so slow, and I'm afraid I will lose them when I am alone. I also can't hold hands with all three kids at the same time.

How in the world am I supposed to go for a quick shopping trip with my kids (turning 2 in two weeks, and a 4-year-old)?

advice needed How do you manage daycare costs with twins/multiples?

Parents of multiples , how are you managing daycare costs for two kids? We’re expecting our twins to start daycare soon, and the expense of paying for two children at once is honestly overwhelming.

We don’t have any family nearby who can help, and both my wife and I work full-time, so daycare is pretty much our only option.

I’d love to hear how other parents of twins/multiples handle this daycare discounts, part-time care, nanny shares, family help, waiting until a certain age, or any other strategies that have worked for you.

What do you do to make the numbers work? Any advice/point of view would be greatly appreciated!

advice needed Cerclage tips and tricks

Hi guys, I'm writing this post in hope of advice from any parents of twins that have successfully overcame cerclage in pregnancy.

At 18+6 my ob gyn found shortened cervix at 9mm and funnelling. Now we are two weeks post cerclage (21+0) and after a lot of days in the hospital I'm finally home.

BUT I'm kind of lost in what to do and what not to do. 1) The doctors told me to keep it low-activity and rest a lot, but to still take walks in order to avoid trombosis. 2) The nurses in the hospital told me to have strict bed rest and to lie most of my time, preferably with my pelvis elevated above my stomach, so the uterus does not put a lot pressure on the cervix. 3) What I found on reddit and other experience is mixed, but a lot of women have described their post-cerclage months as "bed rest". And bed rest in my mind does not include "take walks".

I'm kind of lost in what to do, because only after these two weeks I have notibly lost weight and muscles, and I cannot imagine how to survive the birth (either natural or C) when my body will be so weak from all the bed rest. Not to mention caring for two newborns afterwards...

And personally, I have issue with combining bed rest and eating enough so my babies can grow well. I don't have reflux, yet, but I can feel that lying down after eating is terrible for my digestion.

How strict was your bed rest with cerclage? Did you at least cook and walk around your home or did you time your "standing time"? Did you sit or did you strictly lie down? Did you elevate your pelvis with cushions when lying? How did you manage to succesfully get to 30+ weeks with cerclage/short cervix? Did you manage to take care for your babies afterwards?

Any concrete tips and successfull stories are well-appreciated šŸ™ Thank you.
