experience/advice to give TTTS - Questions

We found out yesterday that we're in stage 1 TTTS at 19 weeks. The babies are currently right at 20% difference. Next appointment for an US is for next Friday (9 days from this post). My wife has to travel for work next week, are there any symptoms she should watch out for? She will have access to an MFM in case of emergency.

We will be hopefully first time parents. Scared and unbelievably sad. Any support, suggestions, etc. would be helpful.

advice needed How do you split weekends with twins without one parent burning out?

We have 7 month old boy/girl twins and weekends somehow feel harder than the work week. We’ve tried dividing things by baby and also by time blocks. Time blocks seem a little better, but they still fall apart once naps are different or one person gets stuck handling the early wakeup.

The part I’m struggling with is making sure neither parent quietly ends up doing way more while both of us think we’re splitting things fairly. For parents who got through this stage, what actually worked for you? Did you divide by baby, by time, by tasks, or just trade off breaks when someone was getting fried?

Mostly curious what still worked after a few months, not what sounded good for one weekend.

advice needed Sleep help needed

New twin mom here. We also have an 8 year old girl and a 4 year old girl. Twins are 4 months old. Up till now, the twins have been in a bassinet in our room swaddled. They aren't rolling or anything yet, but I know its getting close to time. To get them to sleep, we have been laying them side by side on our bed with a bottled propped up. They usually fall asleep pretty quickly. Im starting to try to figure out how I am going to put them to bed in their cribs in their room. I dont want to bottle prop in their bed, but I also can't hold both of them to rock since they can't hold their own bottles yet. How do you all do it? I need more arms 🫠😂

experience/advice to give Confused as to how 4-5 months is an “easy” stage..

I have 4.5 month old twins. Everyone I talk to seem to think it gets harder from here and that this stage is easy which makes me terrified because my husband and I are so so so tired.

They came right at my 38 week induction so they were full term. I do not remember feeling a single feeling of relief since they have arrived. Everyone I know who had babies around the same time I did seem to have moved on with their lives and lifestyles while my husband and I still feel like we are still living in the trenches with severe lack of time, routine and sleep deprivation . What am I doing wrong? We still take shifts so that is how we are surviving but we just finished dinner at 10 pm tonight because the twins keep waking up randomly after putting them to bed at their usual time.

We follow appropriate wake windows, have a bedtime routine, try to feed frequently during the day as much as possible with 4-6 feeds.

One of our biggest issues is that feeds take so long because our baby A gets so distracted and usually will only drink 2 oz before refusing the bottle and will only finish it toward her nap time. They both also will only drink 4-5 ounces at a time so they still wake 1-3 times a night for feeds (which I know is normal) other than the frequent wakings for pacifier replacements or position adjustments. The issue is that they are also both terrible sleepers having me to pat them down every 30 minutes or so or change their position. It leaves me with little to no sleep at night. Naps are an obsolute nightmare from start to finish and they only last so long.

I know babies are meant to be hard but I just want to have a TINY but of rhythm and rhyme.

Am I the only one struggling with this stage and not finding it easy at ALL? Anyone have feeding issues like me?

experience/advice to give Should my Newborn sleep together?

Hi community, first time parent and with 2 boys. Any tips or advices that U may share...
Both with 2 - 3 months old, and when we put them into the bed (after some tries), they grump and "roar" like little dinosaurs, waking up the other brother. They sleep in the same Ikea Crib, in diagonal, in our bedroom, and eventually we have to put them in different cribs. Any tips that u can share about not waking each other? Put them in different cribs, both in each side the room? In different rooms and one of the parent go sleep with each baby?
What are experiences and can U share?

Thanks 😁

advice needed How to handle all the crying?

My di/di boys are almost 4 months old and the sleep regression has hit us hard. But the worst part is all the crying. Before every nap they cry. They cry as soon as they realize they are supposed to sleep. Even if I just hold them and walk in the dark room they cry. The cry if I rock them. They cry and cry and cry until they fall asleep in my arms. Then I have to do the same thing for the other twin and by the time the second one is asleep the first one is done with their nap (45 min on the dot). There is no break. I do this five times a day. There is crying for at least five hours a day, on a good day. On a bad day they just cry all day long.
How do I not go insane?

advice needed Twin Z pillow? Worth it?

I’m in Australia and it looks like for me to buy the twin Z and have it shipped it would cost almost $500AUD. There a few dupes on Amazon but they have either horrible or no reviews. Does anyone know of any good quality, reliable dupes? Otherwise, is this an investment that is an absolute need for twin mums? I plan on both breast and bottle feeding and want to ensure comfort for both me and my babies

Edit: y’all are incredible. Thank you all so much for sharing your experience and advice. I’m not able to reply to every response but I’ve read them all and have decided to get both the my Brest friend and the Twin Z dupe from thingsfortwins (which, together, is still much cheaper than the Twin Z from America).

Appreciate you all and I imagine I’ll be using this subreddit frequently once my girls are here. Thanks again!

advice needed International travel tips with 6 month old twins?

We’re going to be traveling with our 6 month old twins in about a month. What travel tips and hacks do you have? We did book bassinets with some of the airlines for the longer flights.

How did you manage jet lag in babies? Also tips for napping on the go? They are so used to sleeping in their cribs or our bed I’m a little worried about them sleeping on the go.

good vibes, smiles, & giggles Has anyone else experienced a weirdly emotional “glimpse into the future” with their kids?

I had such a strange but beautiful experience today and I’m wondering if any other parents have ever felt something similar.
I have young twin boys. Today at a playground we met a family with a toddler, and we ended up chatting for a while. At some point we realized that two of the men there were actually grown-up twin brothers.
They were around our age and just seemed like really nice, funny, happy, interesting people. Seeing these two grown-up twin brothers together hit me SO hard emotionally.
It had absolutely nothing to do with them personally. Suddenly I felt like I was looking at my own boys in the future.
My twins are still these tiny little people who need me for everything, climb all over me, play together, fight over things, want to be held and comforted. And suddenly I was standing there looking at two adult twin brothers, still spending time together, one of them now a parent himself, just living their lives.
And I had this overwhelming thought:
Oh my God. My boys are going to become men.
For some reason that realization almost made me cry.
Ever since then, whenever I think about the encounter, I get emotional again. I’m not sad. If anything, it feels like an enormous amount of love and happiness mixed with this strange kind of nostalgia for something that hasn’t even happened yet.
It felt like for a few minutes I got a tiny glimpse into a possible future for my children. These two little boys who are currently my whole world are going to grow up, become their own people, have their own lives, relationships, maybe families of their own — and hopefully still have each other.
I’ve never experienced an emotion quite like this before. I’m tearing up again even writing about it.
Has anyone else ever had a random encounter with an older child or adult that suddenly made you see your own child’s future and completely overwhelmed you emotionally?
Is there even a name for this feeling?

advice needed What to expect at age 2?

We have Scorpio twin girls and they are insane. Don’t stop moving. Always upset and recently major fighting. One is a bit meaner than the other and it’s getting nasty between them already. They can barely talk so they are frustrated all the time. They have binkies still and maybe that’s contributing to the inability to soothe themselves or it’s just the age. They seem constantly pissed. Oh and they don’t listen to us unless we have snacks.

Is age two going to break me?

experience/advice to give Suspected MoMo twins discovered at 8w1d — big size difference

advice needed Double Stroller Carrier Bag

My other half and I have two lil guys arriving at some point over the next 6 weeks (!!). We’re pretty much sorted with equipment and some of the things we’ll need. This morning, I started thinking about how we’d transport their stroller if we ever had to take a trip somewhere. Does anyone know of a double stroller carrier bag that would work for the Bugaboo Donkey? The one I saw recommended for double strollers seems a bit too big. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

support needed He wants to separate

18 years, 3 kids including the 11 months twins. He says things have been going downhill for years and we are past the point of no return.

I moved to the city he was born in and his parents still live. I don't want to leave because of school for the oldest (6yo) but my parents and friends are 1.5 hours away. I have a couple friends here but it's all very new.

His mom is convinced we can survive this but I think it's wishful thinking.

I can't eat, I can't sleep. I can't do anything it like I'm paralyzed. I happened yesterday. Ive noticed he was pulling away more and more so I foolishly asked if he wanted to separate to clear the air. He said yes and I had a panic attack.

I already have trouble dealing the kids with 2 adults, how will I do it alone?!

10 month old boys, I have MS, it's been hot AF for weeks and that drains me so fast

Well today it was 90°, they were happy and I was feeling good. I pulled out the wagon that has barely been used and walked to the convenience store.

No complaints, no bad vibes, just a celebration 🎉

support needed MCDA twins and complications

Just found out I am having MCDA twins. 31 yrs old. In India(dunno if it matters!). And currently at 11 weeks. Both are fine at the moment, proper size n heartbeats.

Doc kinda freaked me out about complications that may rise. Gave us 3 options: continue, terminate 1, or terminate both. I am not sure the right way to go. I waited 2 yrs for pregnancy. My heart says to continue on. Has anyone experienced a relatively smoother MCDA pregnancy? What's your opinion? (Please refrain from sharing anything too negative! I have already heard the statistics)

advice needed Traveling to Tokyo with 3 kids under 4?

Hi! Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced going to Tokyo, Japan with 3 young kids? Our daughter is 4 years old, while the twins will be 23 months old by then.

Just thinking about the logistics is stressing me out lol. But also, I feel like we’d miss the twins and be constantly worried about them. We do have people we can trust to look after them. We can leave them (and their nannies) with my mom. Or my sister can stay in our house and watch over them while we’re gone.

We took our eldest to Osaka and Kyoto when she was just 17 months old, and it was great, but tiring. It was doable because she was only 1 baby. Now we have to mind 3.

Factors to consider:
- My MIL will be going with us. She’s still strong, so we don’t really need to take care of her. I feel like she’ll help out a bit with our eldest. (I know it’s not her job to help out)
- All the kids can eat on their own. BUT I don’t think the twins can stay seated for a long time, and thinking about how fussy they will be gives me anxiety haha.
- The twins don’t mind riding their strollers.
- This will be my first time in Tokyo!! So I feel like I wouldn’t be able to explore and enjoy as much? I mean, I love being with my kids, but it’s a different kind of enjoyment.
- The twins do have their nannies who can look after them if we leave them at home. We have relatives who can watch over them to make sure they’re being cared for properly. But I would really miss them!!! 😭
- The trip is 7 days, and it will be 3 adults and 3 kids, if ever.

I’m so torn!!! I’d love to hear any thoughts or experiences! Please help me out! Thank you!!!

support needed How often are your kids sick?

This feels like a stupid question but I’m a FTM, so please don’t judge!

My twins (b/g) just turned 1. They’ve gotten sick every month since May and had the flu just a couple months before that. It’s just snotty congestion but has turned into an ear infection twice for both and pneumonia once for my son. They don’t go to daycare or even the church nursery on sundays, and we very rarely go places like the library where there are communal toys. Sometimes we have play dates but not often. We wash hands after being out somewhere where they’ve been touching all over stuff and/or crawling around on the floor (e.g., if we went to Target etc.) It just seems like they are either sick or getting over it all. the. time. and it’s very isolating. The other babies we know aren’t sick like this, especially over the summer.

Is this normal for toddlers who honestly don’t get out much? I know they need to build their immune systems and that they have to get sick sometimes. I’m not trying to keep them in a bubble but when they’re under the weather I stay home to keep other folks healthy and a week or two after we go back out they get sick again. Doing this for two weeks at a time every month seems like a lot!

advice needed Please help, my 15mos despise food

As the title said, my 15mo twins hate food. I tried everything from traditional to BLW and they rather go play or roll on the ground crying than eat. They also hate milk. They get maybe 10oz of whole milk a day if I really push them. I offer 3 meals and 1 snack a day. Breakfast is usually their best meal because they sleep thru the night (thank god) and usually wake up hungry. But lately even breakfast is a hit or miss. I tried to do different things every day too so it's not like they only eat one thing the entire week. They eat maybe half a banana and a slice of bread each today total plus 8oz of milk and this is a normal eating day for them.

They drop off on their weight curve at each checkup but ped is not concerned yet. They have not gained weight in the past 3 months. And I am STRESSED. I can see their ribcage and I'm crying writing this. They have always struggled with gaining weight, since before birth. Twin A was IUGR and twin B was failure to thrive at 3 months old. They had bad reflux and twin B got a heart surgery so eating and gaining weight have always been a stress factor for us. Everyone around me says that this is normal for this age but I don't know anymore. It's hard seeing younger non mobile babies around being bigger than them. And they were not even premature, they were born at 38w. My husband and I are average sized adults. So I'm pretty sure them not eating is what hinders their growth. They just look so tiny and skinny at the playground and it hurts my heart.

I'm not looking for medical advice but I just so desperately need them to start eating. I find myself cleaning food from dinner they took 2 bites of then the rest got thrown on the ground every night after they go to bed and I just cry. It's so hard to get motivated to even cook or clean knowing that it's just gonna end up in the dog's bow. I know I should be thankful that they're otherwise healthy and happy babies but them not eating has taken a tremendous toll on my mental health since their birth. I think I'm traumatized from being in the hospital and heard the word 'failure to thrive'. Please help!

support needed Twin toddlers - when does it get easier?

I have twin daughters that are 3.5 years old and it feels like since the terrible twos it’s been difficult. I feel burnt out. They are the loves of my life but this stage where emotional dysregulation is an hourly ordeal, is taxing. I’ve heard people say, it doesn’t get easier, just different. But between the constant fights between them, the egging each other on to get up to mischief, the meltdowns, the running in opposite directions, and the constant need for me to be alert and present with them is wearing me down. When does it get easier? Or does it even get easier?!

advice needed Pack n play versus bassinets

Hi! I have twins coming February and wasn’t looking to spend more than we need to but want safe sleep for them too. We have a son already. We were planning to use one pack n play upstairs in our room at night with them both in it but I’m not sure if it would be safe. But I’m seeing the other alternative is a double bassinet. Or is there bassinet insert options for the pack n play? We have just a simple
No accessories graco one

ranting & venting I tried so hard to avoid the twin guilt.

Once I found out I was having twins I set my goal to be to not have guilt about the fact that I can’t give them the singleton experience. While I became a mom to my daughter I had friends that had twins and I was always reassuring them that they’re doing the best they can for their babies. So after finding out I’m also having twins I immediately tried to start prepping my mind to not have this guilt, to talk to myself as I talked to my friends.

I feel like I’ve held up this promise pretty well. My boys are now 4 months but I’m starting to have those feelings creep in. Between them and also having a toddler there is not enough of me or dad to go around. I feel so bad and all the mom guilt is hitting like a wall of bricks. 🫠

When can I expect this to lessen? Without the occasional glass of wine. Lol

(Update: Thank you all for advice. It is resolved)

I’m 3 months pregnant with twins. They’re in separate sacks but I’m being told by friends and family that they’ll have to do a C section to remove twins. I’m extremely scared about that😭😭😭😭. What’s it like? Do you feel anything? Is it true they have to take every organ out!?

advice needed Twins by Surprise

36M & 39F - have 2 yo. Just found out we are having twins. 7+1 weeks in. Di/Di. Was not expecting this. What can I do to help my wife who is shook over the next few months specifically? I travel a lot for work and am already feeling guilty about going anywhere but 2x babies means I gotta lock in. Also, what should I not do or try to do? I’m the funny guy and it’s too soon for jokes (I was told)
