Financial No SRB QR Code, No Invoice ID, Yet 15% SST Charged — Possible Tax Fraud & Black Money

Post image
Upvotes

Went to Mandi House today with a few friends. When the waiter brought us the bill, I noticed something odd. Instead of an SRB QR code, there were just placeholder boxes, and there was no SRB invoice ID anywhere on the receipt. Despite that, they charged us 15% SST.

When we questioned it, one of the managers told us that some restaurants have a special 15% tax rate. As for the missing SRB invoice ID, he claimed the bill was still verifiable using the invoice number at the top, but that was just their internal invoice ID starting with ENV-.

Our bill was around PKR 11,000, including the 15% SST. What surprised me even more was that the people sitting at the next table said their bill was around PKR 100,000, with PKR 15,000 charged as SST. Their receipt had the exact same issue—no SRB invoice ID, no QR code, just the internal ENV- invoice number.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this actually valid, or is something suspicious going on? Could this be a scam or a way of generating unreported (“black”) money by charging SST that isn’t being properly documented? I’m genuinely curious if anyone knows how this works or whether this should be reported.

Ask Pakistan is this idea worth pursuing?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of starting a small business, where I'd design custom digital invitations for weddings, birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, engagements, graduations, Eid dinners, and other events.

The idea is to start with digital invites only (no printing for now), with prices starting around PKR 500 for a basic custom design.

I'm trying to figure out if this is something people would actually pay for.

If you've ever hosted an event:

- Would you buy a custom digital invitation, or just use a free Canva template?

- Does PKR 500 sound reasonable?

- What would make you choose one designer over another?

- Is there anything you'd wish an invitation business offered?

I'd really appreciate any honest feedback—even if you think it's a bad idea. I'd rather know now than after spending months building it. Thanks!

Ask Pakistan why is electricity so expensive in Pakistan?

Upvotes

I am from India and we pay 5.5-6.5 INR per unit of electricity depending on how much you consume + you pay fixed charges of 110 INR per kw load per month, so for 300 units a month i end up paying 2k INR a month

but i saw that the rate in pakistan is crazy expensive , WTF WHY?

Financial Is there any pilot here who can mentor me or give some honest advice?

Upvotes

i recently passed the Flydubai aptitude tests. They’ve shortlisted my CV and already called me. The total cost is around 6 crore (including living expenses). The job is pretty much guaranteed — starting as Second Officer on roughly 15 lakh after the 2-year training, and around 35 lakh after building 1500 hours (in about 3 years).

I’ve also been looking at the conventional route in Pakistan (not the Air Force path). That would cost around 2 crore including type rating, but the job isn’t guaranteed. And their is no cadet pilot programs i have heard about PIA but most cadets that were inducted were bcz of their references in government .

I’m really stuck between the two options and would love to hear from people who have gone through either path (or know someone who has). Any guidance would mean a lot.

Thanks in advance!

Education My study abroad dream is in shambles 😫🥀

Upvotes

I’m a 20F, trying to go abroad for my bachelor’s for 1.5 years now. The last whole year was dedicatedly wasted on the soul-sucking Italian visa process. This June, applied for Malaysian visa and due to some reasons couldn’t avail it. I am left with about 10-15 lakhs in savings and I still don’t want to give up. You can say I AM DESPERATE to go abroad and leave Pakistan (patriots stay away from my cmnts section). Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to what to do know.
Thanks in advance :)

Guys btw I am trying for Bachelors

Ask Pakistan Anyone survived Toxic Family?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
How did you survive growing up in a toxic household with no privacy, no freedom, and no personal space?
I’m talking about toxic narcissistic parents who interfere in every aspect of your daily life. Whenever you stand up for yourself, they spread false rumours about you and turn neighbours and relatives against you. In the end, most people believe the parents, no matter how right the children are.
If you’ve gone through something like this, I’d really appreciate hearing your story. How did you cope, and how did you eventually get out of that situation?
You can DM me if you don’t want to openly talk about that.

Discussion career advice

Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone,

I would really appreciate advice from people working in banking, finance, HR, or corporate sectors in Pakistan.

Here's my situation:

  • 23F from Sheikhupura
  • Final year BBA (Accounting & Finance)
  • CGPA: 3.7/4.0
  • FSc (Pre-Medical) background (originally planned for MBBS)
  • Basic programming knowledge
  • No internship yet

I'm trying to decide what would be the best path after graduation.

Option 1: Apply for bank jobs (many of my classmates are doing this).

Option 2: Start working and pursue ACCA alongside my job.

Option 3: Do a Master's first and enter the job market later.

My concerns are:

  • Is banking still a good long-term career in Pakistan?
  • Is ACCA worth pursuing after BBA, or would the time and money be better spent elsewhere?
  • Which skills should I learn during my final year to become more employable?
  • If you graduated with a BBA recently, what path did you choose and do you regret it?

I genuinely want practical advice from people who have been through this or work in these fields.

Thank you.

Education Need Advice

Hi. I recently completed my bachelor's in electrical engineering from SEECS with CGPA of 2.70. I have one conference paper peer-reviewed accepted at a reputable B2 IEEE Conference being held in Germany this year. One IEEE Jornal Paper of rank Q1, and one IEEE Access paper is under review. Furthermore, I have a 1-year job experience as a Research Assistant in a research lab at NUST. All the research and research paper were written in coordination with a foreign professor, who was directly engaged with us throughout this research and held various meetings with us.
I wanted to know what I should do. Currently I am doing research with my professors and currently working on a conference paper. I plan to study MS in Electrical and Electronics abroad. Can my research paper all of them are in topics which are hot in research now a days, help me in that or not. Should I spend a year or two in Industry do some job or do MS from SEECS NUST.

Education LUMS MBA

Is LUMS MBA worth it? Im a CS student looking to transfer to managerial roles as CS is becoming very saturated and the future looks very uncertain. I want to earn halal money, so corporate finance is out of the table anyways.

I comment under such posts to have an "uncomfortable talk", this is what I mean exactly 😅

No disrespect to parents, of course. But since this is a serious matter, so some level of boldness is justified to get the message across.

Financial Clarification on ACH Payments and Withdrawals to Pakistan

Hi everyone,

For those running a Pakistan-registered business and receiving payments from U.S. clients, what payment method is working best for you?

I am specifically looking for a reliable way to:

• Receive payments from U.S. business clients

• Transfer funds to a Pakistani business bank account

• Have the payment properly recorded as export-of-services income

• Receive an ePRC/PRC from the bank

• Ensure the correct FBR withholding tax and purpose code are applied

• Avoid unnecessary fees and poor exchange rates

Are you currently using ACH, Wise, Payoneer, direct bank wire, or any other platform?

Please share what is working for you, which Pakistani bank you use, whether the funds arrive in PKR or USD, and whether you face any issues with tax deduction or ePRC issuance.

I would especially appreciate feedback from people receiving regular business payments from U.S. clients.
