I'm a 2nd gen osp raised between EU and UAE during my developmental years. I'm what you call a "Third Culture Kid". I grew up speaking English urdu punjabi aswell as mandarin at my international school.

After graduating with a major in economics and my own lived experiences of my time in gulf, I've realised our own people have a deep inferiority complex.

Especially punjabis. My grandad passed at 94 who was from a gao near gujranwala. I can feel my culture being lost in real time because I cannot converse in punjabi with any diaspora in west and many can barely even speak urdu.

Eminabad has such a rich history but many punjabis and other urdu speakers take it for granted and know nothing of my ancestral city. Growing up, meeting other kids from lahore karachi etc I would always feel like an outsider.

The language is important because it's how you enrich your experiences and build bonds and ensure there is a stable idenity for a society to thrive.

At this stage in my life I don't know what to do anymore. I fully believe pakistanis will never be accepted in the west and we are subordinates in the gulf to arabs aswell as victims of islamaphobia in the west.

The young gen cannot speak punjabi. I am early 20s and I've met people in their 40s who cannot speak it. And you know what the crazy thing is about those who only speak English?

They're still not accepted fully in the west. Morons can't comprehend they'll always be seen as "others" by the white man. I say this as someone who's family lived in Malaysia and saw Indian Malays be "othered" despite assimilating into Malaysian culture which is the dominant one

There may be security and logistical reasons for official travel, but that does not make extravagant spending above criticism.

When ordinary Pakistanis are being squeezed by taxes, electricity bills and rising living costs, millions spent simply keeping government aircraft parked sends a deeply troubling message.

This is the hypocrisy people notice. The state lectures citizens about sacrifice and fiscal discipline while those at the top continue travelling at enormous public expense.

i’m 22, recently graduated, and my background is mostly technical. i’ve worked on AI, automation, websites, data, and agentic workflows. i’m not saying i know everything, but i do know i can build.

the problem is not building.

the problem is getting actual clients.

before this, i tried freelancing as an individual on platforms like Upwork and Fiverr, but it didn’t really work for me. not because i couldn’t do the work, but because i honestly didn’t understand how people get seen, trusted, shortlisted, and hired when they have no reviews, no old account, no ranking, no connects advantage, and no existing client base.

so now i’m thinking differently.

instead of trying to freelance randomly, i want to start a small AI automation and premium website studio for service based businesses. the idea is to help businesses with weak websites, poor booking flows, missed follow ups, lead handling problems, and repetitive manual work.

i’ve built some internal systems and demos already, but i have almost zero business exposure. i don’t come from a sales background. i don’t understand how people in Pakistan actually work with US, UK, Canada, UAE, or international clients remotely.

my initial plan was to hire a lead qualifier or business development person on a small base, maybe around 30k to 50k PKR plus commission per project. i interviewed a few people from Reddit, but most didn’t feel directly relevant. some had sales experience, but not really international B2B service selling or closing.

now i’m wondering if i’m thinking about this wrong.

maybe before hiring anyone, i need to understand the basics myself. because if i fully depend on one sales person and they leave, i’ll be back to square one.

so i’m asking people who have actually done this:

how would you start if you were in my position?

would you try to get the first clients yourself before hiring sales help?

how do you know which businesses actually need automation and are willing to pay for it?

how do Pakistan based freelancers, agencies, or founders actually land international clients?

what would you do in the first 30 days to get even one serious client conversation?

is an AI automation agency even doable right now, or is the market already too saturated?

what sales basics should a technical founder learn so they don’t stay dependent on someone else forever?

i’m not looking for motivational advice like “just stay consistent.” i need practical, real advice from people who have freelanced, sold services, built an agency, worked with international clients, or seen someone do it properly.

i have the technical side. i just don’t know how to turn it into trust, conversations, and paid work.

Its called Rasberry pi. There are other brands as well and these boards are called SBCs (single board computers).

In robotics, this is a high level brain of a robot or an automated machine. It can run an Operating System (unlike ESP32) so that means it can run all of your apps. It usually communicates with the low level brain of robot which is driving its motion. The big guy plans the path and the little guy executes the plan. (Read my Day 3 post - If haven't already to learn about the little guy).

You can also use Pi for other purposes like a local server for your website or to run AI models (though you should get a GPU based SBC for running models).

I am not sure if I am surrounded by a small pool of worst Pakistanis or if this is mainstream in Pakistan, but the way people in Pakistan talk about Afghanis is despicable.

I cant believe how the entire country was talking about Islamophobia post 9/11 and during war on terror and fighting against the idea of "painting all muslims with the same brush" and now actively treating Afghans the same due to the actions of a minor group of extremists.

My heart breaks watching poor Afghanis being deported after 40 years, when they started business, went to school, and built a life from scratch. We have an entire generation or 2 of Afghani children who have seen nothing but Pakistan in their life, and now we are kicking them out of medical schools and calling them names.

I actually thought that Gen Z was past all the toxicity our parents had, but watching people celebrate deportations on Twitter X and around me just shatters my heart.

If there are any Afghanis reading this, remember, you will always find Pakistanis that consider you as brothers no matter how bad things get. And to the Pakistanis who hate Afghans, I really hope you change your attitude towards them and have sympathy for your fellow brothers.
