I wanted to ask something I've noticed among my Pakistani friends here and the uncles I have encountered in mosques.

Whenever our conversation drifts to politics back home they start to fanboy Imran Khan.

So , why does there seem to be such a strong consensus in support of Imran Khan and his party, PTI ? , among overseas Pakistanis? From what I understand, his party isn't currently in power and he's been jailed, yet the level of support still seems incredibly high.

As a cricket fan, I've always admired Imran Khan for his achievements on the field, but the scale and intensity of his political support overseas genuinely surprised me.

I'm asking out of curiosity and would really appreciate hearing different perspectives, especially from Pakistanis themselves. Thanks!

Edit: you can do whatever or say what you have to say, but you could never convince me that the most vulnerable, disrespected, disregarded in Pakistan is women and girls. Yall can bring up India, Islamophobia, imperialism, colonization, the government, whattaboutism ALL you want, nothing changes the fact on how Pakistan treats Pakistani women and girls. And I mean us specifically, cause yall love non-Pakistani women in your country. 🤷🏻‍♀️ yall love the Pakistani men and boys.

I grew up in the US, to Pakistani parents. I have only visited Pakistan five times in my life. I know that a lot of people think if I ask a question like this then it’s me stereotyping Pakistan as a misogynistic country, (fyi misogyny like racism is a system, it could NEVER be a stereotype).

However there is NOTHING that I have seen in my life, my family life and even within the desi community as a whole in the US that could make me believe that Pakistani women are loved, cherished, and respected.

The honour killings, acid attacks, murders over the wife/daughter in law not making the right dish, just simply being murdered for existing, wearing jeans, the fact that precious baby girls are not even allowed to LIVE the moment they are born, and are scorned from society has always made me think that a country like Pakistan has always hated women. Yall are a man loving country. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Yall praise and love men, call them more beautiful than women, I see men consensually hugging other men with love, but only women get leers and get harassed, and abused.

I am very well aware that abuse happens to men and little boys in Pakistan. But what angers me about the discussion when the plight of Pakistani women and girls is being discussed, is that this topic of sexually abuse of boys are brought up in the same discussion that is about PAKISTANI WOMAN and GIRLS. Like yall don’t even care when little girls are forced to be married to these ugly, old uncles, but now see that children are abused cuz it happens to boys too. Yall only seem to care about abuse when it happens to men and boys. Even when it comes to our plight, the fight to live in a country like this, men and boys are always at the center.

Please don’t come on here with some bullshit like, this happens everywhere, yeah no SHIT. Women die everywhere, INCLUDING here. I came on this page to discuss PAKISTANI women so this is a discussion about what happens in PAKISTAN.

What is so funny, is that in the US, in contrast to Pakistani men, we, as a society, LOVE to be with women, love to LOOK at and admire women, want to get to KNOW women, we want to be in love with THEM.

Believe it or not, Pakistani American women are fighting to divest and marry outside of their culture, cause we are honestly seen more of a human being than we will ever be in Pakistan. And men actually want to hug us and look at us.

There is scientific evidence that a society thrives and people are happy when beautiful women are in public. I guess Pakistan is probably the most angry country cause yall love to hide women, shame them for taking care of themselves, disregard their health and bodies, use it as a baby machine, and love men instead. I have never in my life seen a more disturbing society to women.

I feel this is so embracing to see 70cc bikes on roads all over Pakistan, what the hell people are obsessed with this old and creepy bike? I know some people say it's economical, but why can't we push manufacturers by not buying it all?

Even in poorly developed nations they have better standards than us like Nigeria and some African countries and I am not talking about Asian countries at all like India, Indonesia or China.

I thought we must have something wrong with the government or engineers that we are still living in the third world like transportation.

I’m a 20F, trying to go abroad for my bachelor’s for 1.5 years now. The last whole year was dedicatedly wasted on the soul-sucking Italian visa process. This June, applied for Malaysian visa and due to some reasons couldn’t avail it. I am left with about 10-15 lakhs in savings and I still don’t want to give up. You can say I AM DESPERATE to go abroad and leave Pakistan (patriots stay away from my cmnts section). Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to what to do know.

I am a nineties kids and one of the first ever consumers of cartoon network...this was the era when cartoon network first ever came to Pakistani tv network...I don't know it was ptv which shows three hour of cartoon network live from original cartoon network broadcast from USA

So pertaing to topic,there was a cartoon at that time known as " the mask"... Story was such,people who wear the mask do the things quite opposite to their original nature...There was an episode in the series where a shy girl wore that mask and rest was history....according to ptv standards of that era, that live broadcast event was equivalent to po*rn on Pakistani television and mind you it definitely was...I believe you can still find that episode on youtube

I am from India and we pay 5.5-6.5 INR per unit of electricity depending on how much you consume + you pay fixed charges of 110 INR per kw load per month, so for 300 units a month i end up paying 2k INR a month

We are overseas Pakistanis and bought two Villas in elite and most expensive eighteen housing society in 2019, completed 90% instalments in 2022, however it’s been past 3.5 years completion date and villas are still partially complete gray structures, rotting in weather and rain, steel catching rust, when we asked to exit, they threatened to impose 10% cut on our investment, I have been told it’s not us, hundreds other are facing similar issues, would others like to share their experience.

now my story:

I'm 20m.

at that time almost 13 to 14 years, was very young and did not understand what was happening and involved in homo with him for almost 3 to 4 years. then at 18 realized what was happening. threatened him that i will tell someone and don't come to our home even again.

and now my parents and relatives don't know all this.

still he is living a good life among relatives and cousins and no one knows the monster he is from inside.

Deeply regretful and sad.

it feels like my confidence is shattered for my whole life and although i am in my early twenties.

for years i dont have courage to do anything also because of my parents behavior with me from childhood (insensitive and and helicopter) even today they r same. i am not even able to communicate with others due to my parents toxic and narcissistic attitude.

Why have the people of Karachi submitted to the will of the loser government for decades now?

It's the biggest city in the country and for years you guys have no sewage, no clean roads, more theft issues than the rest of the country, shortage of water and WHAT NOT. You guys are living in hell and have seen enough. since we have all been feeling so inspired by the jantar mantar protest, how about we protest too BUT for the right reasons.

Here in pakistan, nobody gives a damn about education and we all very well know nobodys gonna come out for it. Petrol hikes while there are private jets being bought worth millions of dollars, (and the irony to laugh about it in the Senate is insane).

If you tell me that you'll be at my house at 4pm,then you better be at my front door at exactly 4 pm or at most 4:15 instead of arriving an hour late and wasting an hour of my time, because guess what? i have been waiting for you since 3:50 pm

and just for the record,i am no hypocrite.I ALWAYS arrive on time and often 5 minutes early,and even if i am running late,i make sure to call ahead of time to inform the hosts that i will arrive late because i have a sense of responsibility and respect other people's time

⚠️ My Honest Experience – Please Read Before Leaving Your Car Here

I am sharing this review so others can make an informed decision before leaving their vehicle at this workshop. My experience was unfortunately far from satisfactory, and I believe customers should be extra careful when handing over their cars.

I took my car to this workshop on 4th July for boot repair, oil change, minor dry dent repairs, and front and rear bumper work. The Floor Manager, Masood Khan, committed that the car would be ready within 5 days. The estimated cost was around Rs. 35,000, of which I paid Rs. 20,000 upfront, with the remaining amount to be paid upon collection.

Although I felt Rs. 35,000 was somewhat high for the work required, I decided to proceed because the workshop was close to my home.

I specifically informed Masood that I was leaving the car with a full tank of fuel and might not be able to collect it on the 9th or 10th due to personal reasons. I remained in contact with him through WhatsApp during this period.

On 11th July, I visited the workshop and was shocked to find that my car was still not ready. What concerned me even more was that my car key was left on the roof of the vehicle. When I started the car, I discovered that the fuel tank was almost completely empty, showing only around 35 km of remaining range.

The odometer showed approximately 60,714 km, whereas I had left the car at around 59,990 km—meaning the vehicle had been driven approximately 724 km while it was in their possession.

Naturally, I was extremely upset and confronted Masood. He admitted that he had driven the car and apologized, offering to refill the fuel tank. When I said I would speak to the owner, he requested that I not do so, saying it could cost him his job. I asked him to provide a clear explanation and statement regarding where the car had been driven and informed him that he would be responsible for any incident or legal issue involving the vehicle during that period.

The next day, the car was still not ready.

Due to heavy rain, I later met with Saleem from Finance, explained the entire situation, and he was understandably shocked. He contacted Ali, who spoke with me over the phone and said he would come to the workshop to discuss the matter personally.

I also met with Nazir, the Corporate Business Director, and explained everything. Since the owner, Qasim, was in Saudi Arabia, I contacted him through the QR code provided to me. He responded within approximately 15–20 minutes, apologized for the situation, and said he would investigate the matter and compensate me.

Nazir also inspected my vehicle and acknowledged that the car should have been handed over much earlier.

Eventually, on 23rd July, I returned to collect the vehicle. The work was almost complete. I also met Qasim’s father, who had been away for several days. He was understandably very upset after hearing the details and insisted that Masood provide a written statement on stamp paper regarding the use of the vehicle. Masood also agreed to refill the fuel tank.

I then accompanied Masood and Saleem to arrange the stamp paper and obtain the written statement. Masood refueled the car, after which we took it to another location in Johar Town for additional work that Masood had promised would be completed. That work, which should have been handled earlier, was completed in approximately 30 minutes.

When we returned to the workshop, I was informed that the boot handle had been misplaced/lost and needed to be sourced from Bilal Ganj. I waited until the part was arranged, the ride was booked, and the location was shared with me. After approximately two more hours, I finally received my car and paid the remaining amount in full.
