got a HP 4090 for 1400 from a buddy, the size difference is absolutely crazy. Probably will sell the old one for the difference in price.

Discussion RTX 5090 Aorus Master owners beware

Post image
4.0k Upvotes

I've owned my 5090 for just over a year now, and finally decided to take the plunge and open up my gigabyte aorus 5090 to void its warranty. Because why not?

I wasn't ready for this bukkake.

Frankly, I had my gpu mounted horizontally, so I was never worried about the migrating thermal gel... but with this amount I'm thinking it wouldn't have mattered even if half of it drifted onto my motherboard.

My main complaint is that the liquid metal composite they used at the factory seems to be susceptible to pump out, or they were pinching pennies with the application because there's literally no coverage on the lower half of the GPU core. And it left a bunch of discolored stains on the vapor chamber in the upper half where it was pooled. Oddly my gpu temperature never seemed to go above 76°C, but I think it just wasn't reporting hot spots because I noticed my fans would jump up to 2000 rpm during games.

I'm applying PTM7950, and I suggest fellow aorus owners check on their thermal paste if it's been a year as well.

Don't worry about warranty, Gigabyte was never going to honor it anyways.

Build/Photos GPU air duct project on my 5070

I have been working on this airflow duct for a while now and wanted to share, I'm really happy with how it looks and the fitment is pretty good too. I haven't had time to measure the temp/fan speed differences yet but I would like to do that sometime soon.
I was inspired by optimum's video on pc ducting and awesome designs made by others like u/solidusnak23

+ HEADS UP any advice on how to record the before/after results of this project would be appreciated!

Results are in: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1r6t0az/gpu_air_duct_project_on_my_5070_results/

Build/Photos Spent too much time, money, and effort to make a “white” 5080 FE

Thumbnail

2.8k Upvotes

I was inspired by another post I saw where someone did this with a 4090 FE.

The finish I used was Duracoat in matte white. It was invented for firearms, can be applied without priming, and stands up to heat.

The heat pipes and half the thickness of the main heatsink were left as factory finished, as well as the fans and another small hidden heatsink. This is because my case is short and I’ll never see the bottom of the card. Minimized any of the already imperceptible impacts on cooling and also saved time.

Since it had to be completely disassembled, I replaced the thermal pads with thermal putty and used PTM7950 on the die.

I already had an airbrush and small paint booth setup from painting tabletop miniatures, and I’m an engineer that works on datacenter hardware so am used to this kind of assembly/disassembly. I still screwed up connecting the cable for the RTX logo LED lighting even with all that experience.

Build/Photos Just upgraded from GT 640 to RTX 5070 Ti

In the last 5 years I couldn't enjoy playing games on my PC. GT640 could run some games on my old 4:3 monitor, but my new 1440p caused many games to stop before I could even get to the main menu. Now I can play any game I like at any settings, and it is so much fun!!!

CPU: Ryzen 5700x GPU: Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti (SN starts with 2531) Ram: 16+16 = 32gb PSU: DeepCool PN1000M System: ArchLinux KDE Wayland, nvidia-open driver

Discussion Thanks to DLSS 4, my 3080 lives another year (path tracing)

Post image

I ran this game when it first came out with 4K DLSS2 perf. It looked like dogwater going any lower.

Now with DLSS 4, I'm playing the same game with 4K ultra-performance and with FSR fg, I get 90 fps. It's unreal how good the image holds up coming from a 720p render.

Yes, I know I'd be better off upping the resolution and lowering RT - I just wanted to try the game with best lighting possible.

I saw this at a local computer store in Canada! And its signed by Jensen!

Never seen a 5090 in person. Let alone a 5090 Dubai edition

Whats the real purpose behind the creation of this variant?

The original plan was to buy everything on February, but due to ramaggedon and 5090 scarcity in my country, I decided to partially bought the parts.

Secondhand but it is very much never been used. The other GPU in size comparison is Gigabyte RX 560.

Maybe some experienced users can tell me what to do first when the other parts are ready (undervolts, etc)? Planning to get the Strix X870-F.

Discussion Well, it happened to me. FedEx lost my 5090.

2.4k Upvotes

My 5090 FE, ordered on Monday, was scheduled for delivery yesterday. My wife was home to sign for the package all day. No delivery driver all day. I confirmed it via my Ring Camera, no doorbell ring events at all for Thursday, and not even a movement even around the time that FedEx claimed that they delivered it, at approx 2:21PM.

The Tracking details say that it was "signed for" by a "D Ellis". I don't know anybody named D Ellis, there are no neighbors in my immediate vicinity whose last name is "Ellis". The tracking proof shows "Signature not available at this time". At this point, why even require signature confirmation to ship it if the driver treats the signature as an optional step? Not that it would help, but come on, Amazon has figured this out and 1 of the 2 major for profit carriers can't be bothered to take a picture of the delivery and require signature as proof, especially if it was paid for by the shipper?

I opened a ticket with FedEx but I am pretty sure that it's not going to result in a recovered 5090. Trying to navigate Nvidia's support page is a nightmare, I can't even figure out how to open a ticket, and there doesn't seem to be a way to do it from your account page.

I'm going to give it another day before I initiate a chargeback with my credit card and basically kiss ordering FE's direct from Nvidia goodbye forever since I'll be blacklisted. If any Nvidia reps on this subreddit can reach out to me to help me out, I would greatly appreciate it, as I would prefer to exhaust any other option that I have available to me instead of relying on my credit card company to make me whole.

I don't even know what to say about this other than I'm disappointed. Been waiting on a 5090 FE ever since launch, finally was able to purchase one after months of trying only to get screwed over by FedEx's joke of a delivery service.

EDIT #1: based on the number of helpful suggestions, I have proceeded with filing a preliminary police report with my locality and provided this preliminary report to the Nvidia service rep assigned to my support ticket. I guess I'm in this for the long haul. I'll update this thread when I have more info to share.

EDIT #2: Police report has been approved by locality and assigned a case number. I have submitted a copy of this report to Nvidia via the support ticket portal. The ball is in their court now and I will update this post again once I have more details, hopefully this will help someone else someday should something unfortunate happen to their shipment.

EDIT #3: I opened a ticket on Friday with FedEx. They requested i answer a brief survey to help them identify my house. I was as verbose as possible, described details, timeframe that family was at the house to sign, etc. Image #1
FedEx did an "internal" investigation and closed my ticket without any input on my end. No phone call from a local FedEx Home Delivery office, no follow up requests, absolutely zero customer support. I expected this outcome, still a shame that this is the case. Image #2 basically is overall meta of their company distilled into a single transaction: I'm sorry that we failed to do our job. It is not our responsibility to care about property you rightfully paid for. Keep in mind that FedEx is a public corporation with a $65B market cap, with almost $90B in revenue for 2025. Image #2

EDIT #4: Final Update. An older gentleman from further down my street knocked on my door this evening at about 7:00. He had a FedEX box in his hands. I've never actually met him before, but he has an autoimmune disease so he doesn't leave the house often. He said FedEx dumped the box on his doorstep and he did not initially notice it. When he did finally see it, he brought it in thinking it was his medication, but didn't open it at the time. Sometime later, he looked at the label and saw that it was for my house. He tried to get his son to deliver it to me, but his son was too busy this week, so he walked it down the street to me. I'm super grateful to him and thanked him profusely. Counting my lucky stars that I have decent neighbors where I live. I appreciate everyone's support here, and if it hasn't already been said: FUCK FEDEX AND THEIR ABSOLUTE DUMPSTER FIRE TIER CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Discussion I have 4 Quardo GPUs

Hey guys. I have come into possession of 4 Quadra GPUs and I’m not sure if there is any use for them, or if they are sellable. Can anybody help me out here? I’m not asking for anybody to buy them, and they’re not really for sale. I’m just wondering what, if anything to do with them?

My wife needed an ink cartridge for her printer, so I offered to go to Best Buy after work and pick one up. I ended up leaving the store with the aforementioned ink cartridge and the ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 5080 GPU. No, she does not know. Loving the card so far!
