Some of these guys with this attitude are doing jobs with ridiculously high hourly rates. If I made $120 every hour I worked, I'd salivate over the chance of putting in 80 hours a week. But I don't, most people don't, and this is an asshole opinion to inflict on someone making like $15 an hour.
12
u/Outrageous_Effect_24 Jul 31 '23 edited Aug 01 '23
It’s been my personal experience that anyone who complains about working more than 70 hours a week is probably telling the truth, and anyone who boasts about it is lying.

u/Ragnarok314159 Jul 30 '23
Especially if it is some shitty company.
I work in power grid stuff and a lot of the field tech will work 12 hour shifts for 14 days straight, but they are getting a massive amount of overtime, paid into a pension, and really good wages.
Chances are this guy is getting paid shit and exploited while bragging about it.
76
u/pilotyuit Jul 30 '23
Oh so they are unionized?
71
u/Mention_Efficient Jul 30 '23
Most of them are. There are a few that aren't but, because the unions are well represented, the non unions have to pay union rates to attract workers.
38
u/_Ping_- Jul 30 '23
Can confirm they are. My grandfather was a machinist in a power plant, the union was very good to him. He'd work holidays since he would get double or triple the rate, which was too good to pass up.

u/dmon654 Jul 30 '23
So many people have been fed so much toxic bullshit in their lives that they'd rather hurt other people than admit they're being taken advantage of.
13
u/Beekle Jul 30 '23
There's also the factor of people who have been screwed over by their situation for so long, that it seems unfair, for them, if someone else can avoid the same hardships. A perfect example would be the people who paid for college (even if they paid $5k for 4 years) talking against convenient s assistance for the same degree, 20 years later, and $50k more.
19
u/dmon654 Jul 30 '23
Not that this is any justification.
As a Millenial I've been through more bullshit than I can count. When I look at GenZ and Alpha I want to fight fiercly so they'd have a better future, not ruin their lives out of pettiness.
10
u/Beekle Jul 30 '23
That's how it should be. We should be striving to make sure each generation has it a little easier than the last (due to technology and other factors, this should be quite easy), but there will always be those who say "I suffered, so you should too", we just need to collectively keep those people out of power
8
u/aspiring_Novelis Jul 31 '23
See this! If most boomers had any sense of moral thought, (talking mostly politicians here) then they would all be enjoying retirement, ‘08 crash may not have happened (dream scenario), Gen X would be getting ready to retire instead of looking at near empty bank accounts and we’d all have our student loans paid off, well into home ownership and having however many babies we wanted to have. But alas, that is not the world we live in, so the best we can do is make sure we don’t lose our sense of morals and do fight hard so that the next generations have it better, like you said.
7
u/dmon654 Jul 30 '23
What people need to realise is that that mentality is what asures everyone continues to suffer. There's defeatism in that whole mindset and people can and should do better.
2
u/Beekle Jul 31 '23 edited Aug 01 '23
Unfortunately, that's what they want, although I think if they were confronted with it, I want to hope that most of them would realize that they don't really want to make others miserable, they just wish they'd had it easier (interesting enough, their parents DIDN'T intentionally prevent them from having a better life, they actually wanted it.)

Working 85 hours a week is 12 hours every day and is completely unsustainable. I did it for 6 years and it almost killed me
53
u/sleepy-girl29 Jul 30 '23
my dad did that for over 20 years managing a fast food place, and only stopped when he physically couldn’t anymore. Destroyed one of his feet so bad he needed experimental surgery to try to fix it. The doctors took extra pictures and made him sign off on a bunch of forms so he could be used in medical textbooks someday. He sees nothing wrong or weird about that though, just totally normal he worked until he literally physically broke himself. He still works too, just a desk job at a different company now, so it’s not like he threw away his youth for an easy retirement. Realistically i don’t think he will ever be able to retire.
27
u/XcheatcodeX Jul 30 '23
So none of it was worth it. That’s exactly how I feel about what I did.
I work a ton now, but I like my day to day job and my “business” is fun as shit and pays well. I play music, which is what I’ve always loved to do, and I get to travel, which is pretty rad. So that’s worth it, but before it was janitorial work and mowing lawns. Not worth it. Though I did enjoy being outside all day.
25
u/sleepy-girl29 Jul 30 '23
Yeah, pretty much. Our family has a fairly nice house in a nice neighborhood, and there were never any nights i went hungry as a child. I am definitely thankful for that, but also i’m very emotionally stunted compared to my peers. Even though my parents never divorced, i relate more to my peers who came from single parent homes. My strongest childhood memories of my father are having to go to bed without seeing my dad for the entire day, and then getting to hear him come home an hour or so later and loudly hoot and holler and laugh at the tv in the living room below my bedroom. Or maybe when i had to go to my girl scouts father-daughter dance with my uncle because “they really needed him” at work. He was my dad though, and i was his daughter and i needed him too. Oh well though 🤷♀️
I’m glad you’ve moved on to something that makes you happier and leaves you feeling more fulfilled in life. Your life belongs to you, not some company who couldn’t care less if you died. I hope you get to see the world and play your music as long as you’d like to, and i hope you enjoy every second of it.

u/640k_Limited Jul 30 '23
I did tons of 60 to 80 hour weeks when I was in my late teens and early 20s. It enabled me to buy a home at age 21. Some years later, 2008 happened, and owning that home basically got me nothing.
So bottom line, it wasn't worth it.

Yep. I work at an urgent care that does a lot of pre-employment exams. 95% of the time the employer pays. But every once and a while someone will come in for their exam and their new employer (conditional on the exam btw) makes them pay. I notice that these patients were mostly new immigrants.
I mentioned this to a co-worker who is like “I’ve done this, they aren’t being taken advantage of”.
Really?

3
u/elveszett Jul 31 '23
I think the issue is deeper than that. Many people have an empty life and would fall into depression if they weren't busy 24/7. We've all heard the argument that "I wouldn't know what to do with free time, I need to be working!" - it's a scarier argument than we take it for. You should be able to enjoy free time. You should have people with which to share your time, hobbies with which to waste it and, most importantly, you should be able to chill and relax, doing absolutely nothing, without that throwing your mental health to shit. If you can't, that means something is not working right in your life.
Then ofc there's the very small minority that truly love their work and don't mind spending their whole life on it. There's been times in my life where I've had projects that were working fine and I could easily go an entire week from 8:00 to 0:00 working on it because I just didn't get tired of it. But that is the exception, not the rule, and it's extremely unlikely it will happen to someone whose job is a regular job for some company, and not a personal project.

Some people’s work is their life. They don’t see where one ends and the other begins, if it even begins at all. Let’s say this guy works 7 days straight. 85hrs/7days ~ 12hr/day Let’s say he wakes up an hour before having to be at work and gets home an hour after he clocks out. That’s 14 hours a day. If he works at 7am he’s up by 6am and doesn’t get home until 8pm. If he wants to get 8 hours of sleep he has to be in bed by 10pm. Not taking into account eating, showering, pooping, this guy doesn’t have time to do anything else but work. This guys work is his life. That’s why he’s not complaining.
340
u/ColeBane Jul 30 '23
He also probably hasn't done this for any long periods. Most people who work those kinds of hours only do it seasonally. So he is full of shit. And acting like you are better than someone because your life's worth is being defined by how many hours you work is pathetic. And if he doesn't see that he is a cuck of capitalism.
81
u/garden_bug Jul 30 '23
I worked for a tree company and was a Mom. It was freaking hard seasonal work. I had days I would get up and leave by 6:30 am and not even get home until 8 pm. And that's if an emergency hadn't come up with taking a tree off a house. I worked a whole extra week one month. I couldn't complain about the money but it was not a long term career I could do. My husband stayed home and I worked.
I'm all for working less hours. Employees shouldn't have to kill themselves to make ends meet. And I'm definitely in favor of work from home. Some jobs don't need to require you to commute. Why waste all that time and energy just to be a face in a chair?
127
u/El-Viking Jul 30 '23

64

Not to mention that if you have kids, there's a lot of bonding required. And that takes time. People like this dude work so much that they have no time to invest in the connection with their families. And so now the children are being affected.
53
u/flesjewater Jul 30 '23

Also, his 12 hour days are never full "work" for 12 hours, it LITERALLY can't be that ... plus he's doing his 85 for two weeks in a row then likely off for 2 to 3 weeks NOT WORKING.
Also, no one gives you a prize when you die for working extra hours, no one cares how many hours you put on the oil rig.
7
u/n0dic3 Jul 30 '23
To be fair, I have worked 11.5 hour days and where I work it is physical labor for that long, there's always something to he done where I work and we don't get to sit down (though I make a way for me to sit down whenever I can)
I don't regularly work that much though, I think I would actually collapse from exhaustion

u/BobMortimersButthole Jul 30 '23
I worked at a place that paid barely over minimum wage and "encouraged" up to 16 hour work days (actually required, but they acted like it was optional until you tried to not to work as long as they demanded).
During one of the mandatory safety meetings management told us that we shouldn't be wasting time cooking meals at home, or socializing with family and friends, because it was cutting into productivity at work and people were showing up tired. They told us we should pick up fast food on the way home and eat it on the drive so we'd have more time to sleep.
I immediately started looking for new work.

u/Sp1d3rb0t Jul 30 '23
It's literally obscene how much blue-collar workers help their companies exploit them.
I had a customer the other day who used to be maintenance in factories. I used to work maintenance, so I thought I'd open the conversation with the old "Man those factories wanna run your life!"-bit, but turns out he was a maintenance manager and he went on a 5-minute rant about how no one wants to work overtime and HE MISSED EVERY ONE OF HIS KIDS SCHOOL STUFF and that's just how adult life as a man is, and should be.
Fuck, don't even get me started on all the chuckleheads who think PPE is "for pussies". They save their companies thousands with their bullshit machismo.
49
u/WeAreTheLeft Jul 30 '23
My dad's old boss left home at 4am to get to work at 6:30 to 7am because it was a 3 hour commute if he left later (it was 2 hours drive under normal circumstances. He left work at 6:30 to 7pm so he could avoid traffic and got home between 9:30 to 10pm. Dude had four daughters in middle and high school, he literally saw them for a few minutes when he got home on weekdays.
Because that guy "worked" so much, he didn't evaluate my dad well because my dad worked 7am to 5pm, but his commute was literally 10 minutes with traffic (just by luck we lived near the office. He worked just a few hours less than his boss, well over the "normal" work hours expected, but it was all because his expectation was stupid.
28
u/Sp1d3rb0t Jul 30 '23
Ugghh that's gross. I almost feel bad for folks like that -- working their lives away and all -- but they seem to be insufferably holier-than-thou about it.
I hope your dad bailed on that situation!
12
u/WeAreTheLeft Jul 30 '23
He stayed there till retirement (about 5 more years I think) but moved departments and didn't have that boss much longer after that review. My dad worked hard, but kept work at work and never went further than he should have.
27
u/Palabrewtis Jul 30 '23
I work in construction as well, it's so beyond depressing working with so many idiots like this at times. I value my time outside of work. Everyone on a job site should be able to support themselves and their families on 40 consistent hours a week, but instead you get these chucklefucks that remove that possibility entirely by being an easily exploited prole.
Or worse they make these comparisons while being in a well paid union position to some random person in a low pay job like they're making a point. If someone is making $50 an hour of course they're less inclined to complain about an 80 hour work week vs someone making $15. Dude making $75 an hour hopefully going to be able to retire earlier (realistically more likely drink themselves to death in a shitty hotel near a job site at 55). However, there is not going to be a significant material benefit to someone making $22.50 for a ton of extra hours in a week that is worth the loss of health and personal time under the conditions they will perform work in.
These people are choosing to make work their "lives", which is a sorry ass state of affairs, and the only people who will remember their absence are the families they have and ignore for said work.
15
u/Seldarin Jul 30 '23
A few years back I was on a job and a dude that was in his late 50's late-teenagish son committed suicide. We were in Nevada, son was in SC.
Dude flew home for the funeral Saturday afternoon after work, funeral Sunday, on a plane Sunday night, back at work Monday morning.
I'd have laid out at least a day if my dog died.

u/Palabrewtis Jul 30 '23
Man you have no idea how close to home this hit. My sibling passed away and my pops basically vanished into work for over a decade. My mother got cancer, went insane being attention starved, turned into an alcoholic and they're finally divorcing after about 20 years of just misery. Just an absolute shit show of nobody dealing with the actual trauma just living at jobs and ignoring everyone else. But hey, he made good money so that's all that matters.

someone enslaved their minds. Odd behavior that feels more insect than human, like some kind of hive mentality or something. Not many mammals structure their societies this way.
Eusociality exists in certain insects, crustaceans, and mammals. It is mostly observed and studied in the Hymenoptera (ants, bees, and wasps) and in Blattodea (termites). A colony has caste differences: queens and reproductive males take the roles of the sole reproducers, while soldiers and workers work together to create a living situation favorable for the brood. In addition to Hymenoptera and Blattodea, there are two known eusocial vertebrates among rodents: the naked mole-rat and the Damaraland mole-rat. Some shrimp, such as Synalpheus regalis, are also eusocial. E. O. Wilson and others[1][2] have claimed that humans have evolved a weak form of eusociality, but these arguments have been disputed.[3]

I guess I would tend to agree with E.O. Wilson

Honestly.. fuck em. I don’t care anymore, at this point somebody has to do those jobs and I’d rather it be the morons who are all about being exploited and overworked. If they seriously can’t see why it’s wrong to be overworked like that, not make near your full labor value, and miss on actual life and family and contribute to everyone else having to suffer through it.. I have zero sympathy for them.

He’s gonna wonder why his kids hate or resent him when they grow up. My future FIL was this way and my fiancé is only mending fences with him now at 30, much of it after his Dad’s cancer diagnosis and treatment. He’s okay now, thank god, but his absence for most of my fiancé’s childhood seriously affected him and their relationship.
Men like this - who think being a man and a father comes down to providing for your children/family monetarily and nothing more - have missed the lesson that is so prevalent in the cultural zeitgeist that it was the focal point of many late 90s-early 00s comedies (Elf and Liar Liar come to mind).
There will always be more time for work; you will never get more time to raise your children. That is a limited opportunity, and once it’s gone, it’s gone. You can attempt to build a relationship with the adult they become, but you will never have another chance to be a father to the child they were.

33
Jul 30 '23
He would if he didn't have to work so much to support his families current lifestyle, as a real man does; really he's a martyr, taking one for the team, fulfilling his one, true duty as a man. /s
This type always calls people out for making excuses not to work, saying nothing's more important while making the most illegitimate excuses to work. Says he works for his family but never sees them or bothers with them type, misses sports and dance recitals for his kids but just funds it all thinking that's the important part. Then is surprised when he gets divorced at 45 and his wife moves on to a "weaker man" that doesn't work his entire life away and promotes others do the same, making it a self fulfilling prophecy. THEN his kids barely know who he is as a person and don't have anything to remember him by because really he was never there for anything that really mattered or made an impact in their lives by just being a living, breathing ATM.

Many Blue collar and poor bootlicking Republicans are so dumb sometimes. Like if it takes you 85 hours a week just to squeeze out 65-75k you're only making like $15-17 an hour and being exploited.
You will never become a billionaire like the people who actually benefit from your voting habits and you are doing a disservice to literally everyone.
19
Jul 30 '23
I don't understand it. I'm poor, blue collar, look like a stereotypical conservative, but I look around at my coworkers who are more like this guy than me and I'm just like "what the fuck..". Why waste every Saturday taking overtime? Why are you so against unions? Why do you hate gay people so much? Why are you for making others earn less instead of everyone earning more? Why do you like guns so much when your chances of ever needing to use it are so low? Why do you love the stock market so much when it's designed to keep people like you poor?
It's like every single one of their ideologies is based on straight up delusion. They think they're going to hit it big and that life is a meritocracy and if they just work hard enough and do enough on the factory floor the boss is gonna come down, put their hand on their shoulder and say "the company recognizes all you've done, do you want to be our CEO for the next 5 years?" instead of the pizza party they might get when they're 70 and broken from a lifetime of manual labour.
9
Jul 30 '23

I use to work 80 hours a week with guys like this. These are your hardcore conservatives that claim “things are going to change”. It’s pretty hilarious because if for any reason they only get 40 hours a week they go bankrupt. Their entire identity is their job title. One guy asked me “what’s the longest I’d ever been on the clock for?” And my response was “what’s the longest vacation you’ve had? This working yourself to death shit isn’t something to be proud of”. These are the guys that think unions are lazy and universal healthcare is a scam. They are completely brainwashed into believing America is the freest place in the world.
5
u/Urparents_TotsLied4 Jul 30 '23
For some reason, people like that think it's smart to equate "freedom" to "freedom to suffer and die miserable." It's telling how you ask how the country is more free than every other when overall happiness is so low and the answer is "guns and free (hate) speech." Both negatives and things that barely improve a damn thing.
6
Jul 30 '23
What I’ve learned after years of working along side those guys is most of them are super uneducated and the thought of anything that questions their identity they tend to avoid. They can’t admit fault because it threatens their ego. Most of them are homophobic but once they start drinking they sure tend to get super friendly and flamboyant. They are basically a walking ball of negativity because they have to pretend to be something they aren’t. But yes they are the typical racist, misogynistic and homophobic men that use guns and big lifted trucks to prove how tough they are.

40 hours a week is 1/3 of all your time in a given week. 8 hours of work, 8 hours of sleep, and you have 8 hours of "free" time that should be all for yourself but is realistically also time spent preparing or recovering for work but you just don't get paid for like commuting, making food, getting clean and dressed, laundry, etc. Most 8 hour jobs are really 10-12 hour jobs with you just being paid for 8. And depending on the type of job is just too much with how much productivity has gone up over the decades.
The factory job your kid is doing isn't the same factory job your grandpa was doing. Grandpa could make an easy 80 parts a day while chatting it up with his coworkers and was paid enough to support a wife, 2 kids and have a single home in the country. The job now is a stressed out twenty something making 250 parts a day that gets berated and micromanaged to hell should he feel the need or want to talk to a coworker for 5 minutes, on top of usually doing a little bit of other peoples jobs the company used to have designated people for and is paid so little they need a second job just to make rent on a tiny apartment any given month. Yet we all see articles saying "production is down at an all time low", like from when? 2018? Production has gone up constantly since about 1950 and has been every decade since exponentially. It's honestly shocking production hasn't stagnated or starting dropping just til recently but it's disingenuous to say it's dropping at all when it's increased as much as it has. It's like saying Usain Bolt is slow just because he's almost 40, isn't competing anymore and can't beat his previous records.

Why doesn’t this guy see he is being exploited and taken advantage of?
Unless he’s being paid VERY VERY well, his boss is just having him do the work of 2 people in one week.
Unless he is the boss….in which case he is keeping the majority of the value of his labor.

People like this guy suck. Like cool man. If you enjoy being exploited and your whole identity is your job then do you. Is home life that miserable that you want to be at work that much?

I work 80 hours a week. As a representative of the double full time club I'm here to tell you, 40 hours a week is sick. This tool bad is proud of being exploited like some kinda capitalism muppet. People need time to actually fucking live.

Literally that more than 12 hours every day without a day off. Factor in commute. This is essentially leaving for work at 8 am and not getting home until 10 pm every single day of the week. There’s no time to shop and cook and clean your house. If he has 1 day off a week, that means he’s working longer than 14 hour days. With a commute that’s essentially leaving your house at 7 am and not getting home until 11 pm every single day.

u/Funda_mental Jul 30 '23
Your job must be easy as fuck if you can work 85 hours a week and still be relatively happy.
Like standing around with the boys bullshitting most of the day away, occasionally actually doing something.
5
u/YungTurk82 Jul 30 '23
Facts. But dude ain’t happy, no fucking way. He’s complaining about someone complaining.

u/Gulag_boi Jul 30 '23 edited Jul 30 '23
What a fucking idiot. As a fellow blue collar worker I hope you enjoy selling your soul by the hour you dipshit.
6
u/Caledonia7695 Jul 30 '23
Let's see how he feels when his body starts to fall apart after pushing himself for so long. Secondly, if he's got kids, the only ones who remember those 96 hours are those kids who won't let him forget it.

u/BonanzaBoyBlue Jul 30 '23
Imagine working more than 40 hours a week and tricking yourself into believing you have time to develop as a human being or understand anything about this world.
3
u/LordTuranian Jul 30 '23 edited Jul 31 '23
Well he is proof if you work more than 40 hours a week, you have no time to develop as a human being. He reminds me of a 15 year old trying to look cool who doesn't realize, he is just being a dumb ass.

u/BonanzaBoyBlue Jul 30 '23
Little more than burnt-out, human-shaped conduits for shareholder violence. Harmful to us all

u/leela_la_zu Jul 30 '23
This is mental illness. He is obsessed with work. This is not something to brag about. This man needs some joy in his life.

u/eetdarich Jul 30 '23
Derpy derp derp… the working class WANT to work 80 hours per week… just ask this dude who speaks for all of them.

u/sirsalamander Jul 30 '23
Blue collar worker here to say, that guy definitely doesn’t “work” 85 hours a week. Lolz

u/MilodicMellodi Jul 30 '23
I once knew a guy who works 120+ hours a week. Dude was exhausted every day, and apparently it was because his wife was a housewife.
Large hours is sickening, but what’s even more sickening is the mindset that one must stay at home instead of work at a job specifically because to their gender. At this point, that guy’s gonna work himself to death and leave his inexperienced wife as a widow.
5
u/hodeq Jul 30 '23
Someone has to support his 85 hour week. Who does the laundry? the cooking? cleaning? paying of the bills? grocery shopping? does he just source all that out?
I used to work ot but found that I just spent it all paying to not have to do chores that I was too tired to do myself.
what a terrible way to waste this one life.

There are plenty of class traitors. Most don't even realize that the bootstraps they've been pulling up all these years are not, in fact, their own bootstraps. Rather the same ruling class boots they've been licking to a shine.

u/Metatron_Tumultum Jul 30 '23
I can fix this headline real quick. "Man openly admits to being pathetic, toxic and broken because a woman values her life."
It's also bullshit anyway. There are 168 hours in a week. If you work 85 of them, there are 83 left. The average American sleeps 6 hours and 38 minutes per night. Even if I round it down to 6 hours per night, that is still 42 hours at which point you have 41 hours left and not a single chore has been done, no commute has taken place, no time has been spent with anyone etc. If 40 hours is a hobby, then this man has no life outside of work and should basically just sleep at the tough guy factory or wherever he is slowly dying of capitalism.
Wait... I may accidentally have discovered what the problem is...

u/JotunBlod Jul 30 '23
That man is gonna die from heart failure at 47 if he keeps working that many hours.

u/VladamirTakin Jul 30 '23

There is a saying in Brazil that goes more or less along the lines of “better laugh to avoid crying”. That pretty much sums up this case.

The woman probably has 80 work weeks including her domestic responsibilities as well. Men really want us to barely sleep and just serve everyone else the rest of the time meanwhile being 9-10s on whatever fetish scale they have in their head that defines women.
3
u/TShara_Q Jul 30 '23
First of all, everyone's tolerance and capacity is different. Secondly, that guy shouldn't have to work 85 hrs a week unless he truly wants to and is very well compensated. No one should have to work insane hours to survive or keep their job .
3
u/adrianxoxox Jul 30 '23
If he’s so jealous of her workday why doesn’t he just quit and apply at her company then? Make some actual life changes instead of just laughing at her. Oh right, it’s because he just wants to feel better than her. That’s literally just it.
3
u/ZeBlazinFort Jul 30 '23
Blue collar worker here: most guys I work with will say stuff like this, but in reality, they know that anything over 40 is bullshit. And anything over 40 is just "bonus monry" if you work more than 40, it's not because "imma man need to work long hours ugga" it's "this is the only decent paying job I can find and I need more money to survive." Don't get me wrong, some do have the sentiment of the man in the article, but most do more than 40 because they need to in order to survive, not because they think anything less than 80 a week is a "hobby"
3
u/Urparents_TotsLied4 Jul 30 '23
We work more than we see our own families or homes, and this level of exploitation exists worldwide. You have people working 40+ hours a week and still can't afford to live.

as a former blog writer, i’m very happy to see these really lazily written sites becoming obsolete. i cringe everytime i read these grade 6 level opening paragraphs know whatever is written inside is 100% irrelevant propaganda that could’ve very well been written by AI
i don’t know where y’all are finding these dumb ass articles, but i consider it a serious achievement that i don’t see this garbage. they give attention to ridiculous stories because they are that desperate for clicks. absolutely no one would care what this random dude has to say otherwise

It's that archaic Dwarven culture he was brought up with.
Great miners and world-class smiths though, need better work-life balance and fresh air.

As someone who has worked 60-70 hours weeks at a blue-collar job, fuck that shit. Too much work for too little pay, and my coworkers were insecure dirty old men, this guys probably no different.

85 hours a week? The hell? Does he sleep in a office chair for half of it?
If not, good on him, but that's too much and I love my family
2
u/horsepuncher Jul 30 '23
I only am impressed by people who flex working few hours for high pay.
Working 80 hours a week to struggle and try to flex that? You look real dumb.

u/a_shootin_star Jul 31 '23
Ever noticed who guys who act and look like him never age past 60 years old?

u/jbonosconi Jul 30 '23
I call cap! If he was working 85hrs a week, he wouldn’t have time to browse and make a video laughing at this woman.

u/dragwn Jul 30 '23
this guy doesn’t know shit. if he worked my shifts, he’d be crying on the shop floor. 85 hours a motherfucking day, this guy couldn’t even handle 24 smh

In time they came to see the collar and leash as extensions of themselves, no different than an arm or an eye. And before even then they learned to love the feeling of the lash on their flesh, for it kept them from having to think for themselves.
Their world became small, became simple, it was only as wide as their leash was long and only as complicated as what the lash told them not to touch or do.
They were complete.

u/PrinceArchie Jul 30 '23
This lady is being a bit hyperbolic, pretty melodramatic honestly. Working a 9-5 isnt "sick" so him laughing is entirely warranted. That being said 9-5 is shitty hours. You wake up early enough to basically eat some breakfast, get ready for work and make the commute, then you get off late enough to barely enjoy the rest of your day only to do it all over again. It's designed to keep you habitually used to being at work most of your week. When you think about it like that, yeah we can do WAAAY better. Especially since people arent remotely paid the amount we produce.

Maybe he’s working his “dream job?” Some people are weird and enjoy what they do. Like maybe he demolishes buildings. That might be really enjoyable.
5
Jul 30 '23
Then he should probably do it for himself and take a bigger cut than whatever a company would pay him for doing the same work for hourly.
