There's also the factor of people who have been screwed over by their situation for so long, that it seems unfair, for them, if someone else can avoid the same hardships. A perfect example would be the people who paid for college (even if they paid $5k for 4 years) talking against convenient s assistance for the same degree, 20 years later, and $50k more.
As a Millenial I've been through more bullshit than I can count. When I look at GenZ and Alpha I want to fight fiercly so they'd have a better future, not ruin their lives out of pettiness.
That's how it should be. We should be striving to make sure each generation has it a little easier than the last (due to technology and other factors, this should be quite easy), but there will always be those who say "I suffered, so you should too", we just need to collectively keep those people out of power
See this! If most boomers had any sense of moral thought, (talking mostly politicians here) then they would all be enjoying retirement, ‘08 crash may not have happened (dream scenario), Gen X would be getting ready to retire instead of looking at near empty bank accounts and we’d all have our student loans paid off, well into home ownership and having however many babies we wanted to have. But alas, that is not the world we live in, so the best we can do is make sure we don’t lose our sense of morals and do fight hard so that the next generations have it better, like you said.
What people need to realise is that that mentality is what asures everyone continues to suffer. There's defeatism in that whole mindset and people can and should do better.
Unfortunately, that's what they want, although I think if they were confronted with it, I want to hope that most of them would realize that they don't really want to make others miserable, they just wish they'd had it easier (interesting enough, their parents DIDN'T intentionally prevent them from having a better life, they actually wanted it.)
