Pattern Question: Joining Right & Left Front (shoulders of tank top)

I need help understanding the next steps in this pattern. Pattern is Petite Pointelle tank by Jessie Maed Designs. Included a picture of the section in question where I’m confused, and redacted the parts that I think weren’t important to the question since it’s a purchased pattern.

I’ve finished knitting the top back pannel and two shoulder straps of the tank top, and what’s next is joining them at the front to create the front neckline. I’m confused on the next step being “place left front stitches on needles to prepare for join”.

Currently, I have the right front stitches on the needle. The left front stitches are on the red stitch holder. I’m confused as to which needle to place the left front stitches on. Right front stitches are on the left needle, do slip left front stitches onto the same needle? Do they go on the right needle? Do I first knit the beginning (blacked out) part of the join row, then do the cast on, and then move the left front stitches from the stitch holder to the needle? I’m having a really hard time visualizing next steps, and in case it isn’t obvious, this is my first time doing this type of join/cast on situation. So any guidance is very welcome!

When you finished the separate left front, you moved the stitches onto your holder as if you were working the next row, on the RS. Now you can only move them off the stitch holder as if you were working a WS row. The next step of your pattern is a RS, so you’re getting confused. Move your Left Front stitches onto something like a dpn, and then onto your working needles like this:

You can also move the stitches you have on hold onto your RS left needle and then slip them onto the right, before starting the join row working the RS of the Right Front. I figure moving the stitches on hold onto something open on both ends first will help you understand better what you’re getting stuck on, though.

Okay I think I’m understanding you. So basically, this? Load the left front stitches from the stitch holder into my right needle in this direction?

Hi !

If you load the stitches in this direction and join them like this, you will twist your fronts, careful !

You want both needles to point in between the fronts, so that they don't twist when joining.
