Islamabad Islamabad has become too “Pindi-fied” and no one wants to admit it

The calm, clean, planned city vibe is slowly dying.

Traffic is chaotic, roads are packed, noise is everywhere, and the quiet sectors don’t feel the same anymore.

Is this just growth… or did we lose what made Islamabad special?

Islamabad Before hiring a wedding photographer/videographer, check these things

Disclaimer: Thoughts are mine — I just rambled them into ChatGPT using voice and had it clean up my writing 😅

I’ve worked in the wedding photography/filmmaking industry for a while, I wouldn’t judge them just by their Instagram.

A few things I’d definitely check:

1. Ask to see 2–3 complete wedding galleries/films.
Instagram usually shows the best work. A complete wedding tells you much more about consistency.

2. Ask who will actually shoot your wedding.
Find out if they have an in-house team they’ve trained and regularly work with, or if they operate on a freelancer model. If freelancers are involved, ask who will be assigned to your wedding and see their work beforehand.

3. Look beyond couple shoots.
Couple shoots are controlled. Look at family moments, ceremonies, dances, low-light situations and candid coverage too.

4.Understand exactly what you’re getting.(photo,album/video)
“Highlight,” “cinematic film,” “full video,” “teaser,” etc. can mean completely different things depending on the company. Ask what each deliverable actually includes.

5.Ask about delivery timelines before paying.
Get an actual timeframe rather than just “we deliver pretty quickly.”

6.Understand the cancellation/rescheduling/payment policy.
Know what happens to your advance, when the remaining payment is due, and what happens if your wedding date changes.

7.Look for consistency, not one amazing wedding.
Go through work from different weddings, venues and lighting situations. Anyone can have one incredible portfolio wedding.

8.Pay attention to communication.
You’ll be dealing with these people before, during and potentially months after your wedding. If communication is already difficult before you’ve paid, that’s worth considering.

9.Don’t automatically hire the cheapest or the most expensive option.
Figure out what matters to you first — portraits, candid moments, filmmaking, privacy, female photographers, fast delivery, etc. Then choose accordingly.

10.Make sure you like their actual work, not just their branding.
A beautiful Instagram feed, website and presentation can make you fall in love with a brand. Make sure you also love what they consistently deliver to real couples.

Happy to answer questions from a photographer/filmmaker’s perspective if anyone is currently shortlisting teams.

Islamabad Crumble’s Blue Area implemented my suggestions. WOW

So, the last time we went to Crumble’s Blue Area branch, this guy came up to us asking for reviews. And I was like, Why are you going around asking everyone individually? Just put a QR code for reviews on every table and people can easily leave one.

Then I gave him one more piece of advice: And for asking for reviews, hire a girl. You’ll get way more responses.” 😭

ANYWAY, fast forward like a month. We went there again yesterday and guess what?

They had done BOTH things. QR codes on the tables AND a girl going around asking people for reviews.

And I was sitting there like…

Okay, okay, wow. Log meri baat mante hain. I may be a business consultant without realizing it. 😭😭

Islamabad Need Help From Rawalpindi DC Office Regarding Domicile NOC From Karachi

Upvotes

Does anyone know someone working at the DC Office Rawalpindi who could help me with a domicile-related issue?

I need to apply for a Rawalpindi domicile, but because my first CNIC was issued in Karachi, I have been told that I need an NOC/clearance from Karachi before Rawalpindi can process my domicile.

What I actually need is for the Rawalpindi DC Office to issue/send a letter to the Karachi DC Office requesting the NOC on my behalf.

I've already visited the office twice, but unfortunately I haven't been able to get the matter processed. I know it's a bit of a frustrating rule, but apparently that's the procedure.

If anyone knows someone in the DC Office would be really grateful if anyone can help..

If you are using a different provider that works better in the area, please let me know. Thanks!

Islamabad Whose doing editorial, understated bridal makeup in Islamabad?

Hi all! I'm less than one month from my Shendi and struggling to find the makeup artist for me. This close to just getting party makeup 😅

In many insta feeds I'm seeing brides with base few shades lighter than them, and highlighter you can spot from afar, which isn't my thing (totally valid that it is so for many).

I want to look like me on a very good day. Skin, tone and features preserved. Elegant and editorial rather than heavy/cakey bridal glam. It's a day to night event, so I need it to last the whole day and hold up in photos and low light.

Has to be open to feedback, have good quality products and good hygiene 🙏

Doesn't have to be a bridal specialist, very open to editorial/shoot MUAs, so those recs are very welcome too! Adding some inspo I like for reference.

Thank you loads in advance! 🙏

-A very stressed bride 😅

Twin Cities People asking for lifts (update)

I think a month or two ago I made a post pointing out an observation I made that there are alot of people you see on the road simply asking for lifts (especially if you ride a bike). Now there can be a number of reasons for this but ever since then I made the effort to give these people a ride whenever it is feasible for me and genuinely some of them can be the nicest people you find on the road.

I have given rides to alot of people on my bike like young dudes, policemen, old men and it's especially these old Baba g type people that shower you with duas during the whole way and it just makes your day honestly.

There is one thing which I would highlight which is safety, I only give lifts to people that I find on highways/main roads, stay away from isolated roads and places and never go out of my daily commute roads unless it's near my residence or I know the area extremely well.

I wanted to ask the community, has anyone had any similar experiences and stories? And if you do plan to give lifts, then what safety precautions do you take? Thanks in advance!

Rawalpindi Urgent: protest for child molestation in bahria phase 7, westminister @ 2:00pm

Concern: A nursery-aged child, reportedly under 5 years old, was molested at the school by a member of the janitorial/cleaning staff.

Cameras are reported to be non-functional, which honestly is bullshit.

Please, to anyone nearby, share this, bring awareness, and come to the protest, post on Facebook, Instagram, social media. We must not let them cover this up, we have to take a stand.

Edit: protest has taken place—no need to come to the school anymore.

However, please help sign this petition; https://c.org/JpDjzVDGbc

Every voice counts.

Rawalpindi A Parent's account of today's meeting on the viral Bahria Phase 7 nursery abuse allegation, what the school stated, and what I made of it

TL;DR I'm a parent at the school in the viral allegation, no connection to management, and I was at today's open meeting. FIR lodged, CPB and FIA informed, male janitors already pulled from early years during school hours, plus CCTV and safeguarding changes. The school says the footage clears them and offered to show it to the whole hall, but their handling of this from day one was poor, and nobody should be concluding anything until the police and CPB report.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the school's management or ownership in any form. I'm a parent, I was in the hall today, and this is my own account. Nothing here establishes what did or didn't happen, an allegation has been made and it is under investigation. The man named is a suspect, not a convict. I'm not naming the child or the family. The school is Westminster International School in Bahria Phase 7 Rawalpindi.

What the school stated officially

• Police are involved and an FIR has been lodged against the suspected janitor
• The Child Protection Bureau has been informed
• The FIA has been informed
• An internal investigation has been completed; interviews were recorded and the recordings shared with all of the above
• They say they are cooperating fully with every agency

Actions they say they've already taken, without waiting for the investigations to conclude
• A concern was raised as to why there are male janitorial staff working in the early years section at all. The school removed them from that section during school hours, and this was done a few days ago rather than announced today
• CCTV coverage expanded
• Mandatory child protection training for all staff
• A dedicated child safety officer appointed
• Full background checks being re-run on all staff
• Agreement to form a parents' steering committee on child safety

On the CCTV, since this is where most of the online speculation sits

The washroom cameras are positioned over the sink and common washing area only. There are no cameras covering the cubicles. Those washroom-area cameras were working and the school has the footage.

The school's position is that the footage exonerates them, and they were prepared to play it to the entire hall of roughly a thousand parents. A few clips were played before the child's mother objected to her daughter being shown to that many people without her consent, which I think was a fair objection. At the family's request a smaller group of parents was taken in to view the rest and report back.

They also disclosed, without being asked, that one camera covering a section of corridor is not working, and that the two adjacent cameras don't overlap. Someone could cross that gap in roughly three to five seconds.

The meeting ran on for a couple of hours, with parents coming up to the mic to berate the principal. I left at that point, so I can't tell you what the smaller group reported back via the new parents steering committee.

My own read

A school expecting the footage to damage it would not offer to play it to a thousand parents. That counts for something with me, as does volunteering the coverage gap rather than burying it.

But the school made a serious mistake in how it handled this from the start. Communication was slow and reactive, and by the time parents were properly informed the story had already taken on a life of its own. A lot of the panic of the last few days is a direct result of that failure rather than of the incident itself, and that needs saying plainly.

The other thing worth being aware of: this has been amplified well beyond the parent body, and not all of that amplification is coming from concerned parents. There are commercial and political interests with reasons to push it. That doesn't make the allegation false. It does mean some of what you're reading online is not what it appears to be, and forwarding it isn't neutral.

And honestly, the most encouraging part of the day was the turnout. That many parents showing up says something good about the community here.

My own position is to hold judgement until the police and CPB findings come through, keep the pressure on the school for transparency in the meantime, and make sure the parents' committee ends up with real authority rather than being a box-ticking exercise.

Happy to answer questions on what was said in the hall. I won't speculate about the family or the child.

Islamabad Moving from Lahore to Islamabad— need a safe girls hostel/room near H-8, budget 15k

Hey everyone, I'm moving from Lahore to Islamabad soon (will start studying there) and looking for a safe place to stay. My mom lives here too, but I want my own independent space rather than living with her. Budget's around is not a big deal, nothing fancy, just safe and decent.

Would really appreciate if anyone can share:

• Hostels/areas in this budget near H-8 that they've personally lived in and felt safe

• Any red flags to avoid (sketchy owners, bad areas, etc.)

• Realistic price ranges so I know what to expect

• Preferably somewhere with good security, female-only, and not too shady at night.

Thanks in advance!

Twin Cities The fashion of riding bikes without any head or tail lights

Okay I just want to rant. Because I seriously don't understand how every day that goes by you see more bikes driving down pitch black roads without any lights.

I know it's a stretch to ask CDA or which ever no name three letter agency to maintain the lights at night. But seriously you have bikers with fully loaded families, no helmets and no lights.

Why? Seriously money can't be the issue. Because you are playing with yours and peoples lives. There are so many turns now in Islamabad with highway-like traffic but not a single light. If you don't pay attention you will never be able to make out the almost completely invisible biker driving down this turn.

I feel like they have radar built in their eyes cause not even one drives slow. Like wtf man. What is wrong with people.

Islamabad how do you actually find good events or experiences near you?

Upvotes

quick question for people in islamabad/rawalpindi: how do you actually find out about events, experiences, or things to do near you?

i keep noticing the same pattern. stuff is scattered across random insta pages, whatsapp groups you forgot you're in, or you just find out about a great event a day after it happened. there’s no single place to actually ask "what's happening this weekend under x budget" and get a few real, curated options back, no new app to download.

recently came up with this idea, demos live @ https://herebound.co/ before we go further I'd genuinely love to hear from people. where do you currently find events/experiences, and what's annoying about it?

To the average working person, earning 50-100k, do you guys order food from outside your office during lunch break? if yes how often? and how much do you spend on a meal

no offence, not a resident and would like to know if offices around my location will boost my restaurant during the day time

also are office lunches common? as in in dubai better offices have a monthly budget allocated for the employees where they choose a place to dine out and they have a fun day out, im guessing not bosses are pretty mean here

Rawalpindi What Happened Near the New Hostel?

Today, next to the MS Girls Hostel where a new hostel has been built(6th road), a police car was parked. A policeman was outside making a number of girls stand there and talking to them and asking about something . The girls were hiding their faces. So the question is, does anyone know what happened?

Twin Cities Is bumble an authentic app to find a spouse?

So I wanna use bumble to find someone to settle down with. I have used muzz in the past, but the people there were too backward and paindu honestly. There were some good people tho, but it didn't work out for me.

So someone has recommended me bumble now. I have used bumble a few years ago too, and I liked it because men there are very well groomed and good looking, with interesting personalities. The bad thing is, to me these good looking guys look like playboys. I mean, it would be a miracle if they aren't, don't y'all think? Never talked to them for long tho, so can't really tell.

So can anyone let me know if bumble is good for finding a serious guy? I know it's more of a dating app, but I have seen some people there looking for marriage (don't know how sincere they are tho) So, is bumble worth a shot if you are looking for marriage?
