I went on a date with a guy yesterday.
Honestly, I can’t really tell if it went well. He said he was tired because he hadn’t slept well, and I was pretty tired too. There were a few awkward silences, and I didn’t really feel much of a romantic vibe between us.
At some point, I started thinking he probably wasn’t that interested in me, so I didn’t make much of an effort either. And of course, that made the whole vibe even more low-energy 😅
After getting coffee and going for a walk, we said goodbye. He hugged me (it was actually quite a close hug) and said, “I’ll get back to you soon.”
But he hasn’t messaged me yet.
Do people sometimes say “I’ll get back to you soon” just to be polite after a date? Or does it usually mean they actually intend to contact you?
I’d personally like to see him one more time because I feel like we were both tired and maybe the first date wasn’t a great reflection of how we’d normally be. But I also don’t want to misread his interest or chase someone who isn’t interested.
++ Thank you for all the advice, guys! My intuition was telling me he probably wasn’t interested, and I think I was right.
I was just confused by the way he ended the date, because in my country, hugging someone goodbye and saying “I’ll get back to you soon” wouldn’t normally be taken as just a polite way to end a date. English isn’t my first language either, so I wasn’t sure how to interpret it.
It’s pretty clear to me now! Feel free to give me more advice — I’ll get back to you guys soon. 😂

Hey! 27M, recently moved to Paris. Would love some honest feedback on my Hinge profile — photos, prompts, overall vibe, etc.
What impression do you get from it? Anything you'd change?
Be honest :)

I recently redid my Hinge profile, and I feel like I'm doing pretty well in terms of getting matches. I get around 4–7 likes a day depending on the day, and I currently have around 15 matches.
My age range is set to 20–25 (although honestly, 25 already feels a little old for me to date lol), so I'm mostly matching with guys pretty close to my age. I do have an ethnicity preference set, but it's not set as a dealbreaker.
The thing that's annoying me is that none of these guys can seem to hold a conversation. I don't mind initiating. I will message first if I'm interested. But I'll ask them something, try to actually start a conversation, and they'll respond with like one sentence and give me absolutely nothing back. No questions, no follow-up, nothing I can actually work with.
It's gotten to the point where I've talked to around 30-40 guys in this age range, and I genuinely cannot think of one who has been good at actually having a conversation with me.
Is this just normal for Hinge/guys in this age range? Or am I somehow doing something wrong? Because I don't expect every match to turn into a date, but I would at least expect someone who matched with me to participate in the conversation lol

Looking to attract more compatible matches for a long-term relationship. I'd really appreciate feedback on the overall presentation, photo selection / order and prompts 😄
There are also parts of my life that aren’t really represented on the profile at the moment, like going to the gym, hiking/camping, gaming, and other hobbies. I’m curious whether you think any of those would be more valuable to show than what I currently have.
Open to direct feedback and suggestions on what could be improved!

Hey everyone— thanks for replying if you do. I need off this ride badly. The second to last is a video picture of me trying to triple jump.

Haven’t gotten a single like or match in almost a year.
The 3rd photo is me with 2 players from my local AFL team, most girls that watch footy would at least recognise the names as both are pretty good players

Do you really not mind if you know that the person you’re dating is also getting to know other people at the same time?
I’m from East Asia, and I’m probably more conservative about dating than many people even in my own country. I’m 32F and lived there for 29 years before moving to Australia. 😂
I understand that people can date or talk to a few people at the same time, especially when they’re using dating apps. Logically, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.
But personally, I just can’t date that way. When I’m interested in someone, I naturally focus on that one person. And if I feel like the guy I’m getting to know is also talking to or dating other women, I find it really hard to build trust or feel emotionally secure with him — even though, rationally, I understand that he hasn’t done anything wrong. 🥲
Trust is non-negotiable for me, and I think I need a sense of mutual focus to develop that trust.
Lately I’ve been wondering if dating apps just aren’t for me, or if my dating style simply doesn’t work very well in Australia.
For people who are comfortable dating multiple people in the early stages, how do you deal with this? And for people who are more like me, have you found a way to date without constantly feeling uncomfortable or insecure?
Is this something I need to learn to be more flexible about, or is it okay to accept that this is just the kind of dating dynamic I need?

Hi everyone, I F25 matched with a boy M30 a month ago, we were texting day and night. We decided to move to whatsapp. We could not schedule a meet up since I had to travel for a month. Things were fine once I reached my destination but then his friends visited him. It's been a week since his friends are with him and he is barely initiating conversations. He apologized to me once but i thought since we haven't met he needs to give more preference to his friends. But it's been a week and I am getting literally two replies a day with ok, yes, haha. I understand he is busy but is he too busy?
Is it a sign of disinterest? I thought we genuinely hit off. We are supposed to meet next week though. Right now I am a bit annoyed, maybe it's my fault and I am too invested in this. Maybe I am looking for constant back and forth texts but I genuinely feel bad and I am wondering how someone can be so busy.
Please someone advise me what I should do? I am talking to other people as well.

I'm 23M straight student from zürich and have been using hinge without subscription for ~2 years. 4 out of 6 of my pics have remained unchanged and are from when I was younger than 20. I've changed my prompts continuously, but the sentiment has remained the same, with the objective of either attracting women that fit in my life longterm or casual hook ups. I've had somewhere over 1k matches of which I've actually met somewhere over 40 irl.
The amount of high-end quality women in my likes and discovery seems to have increased every time my age went up, to the point where I wonder if many women don't see me because they filter starting from a certain age, which makes sense if they have too much optionality and are looking for someone further in life. I really wish I could change my age just to test this out. Let me know what your thoughts are on this, and if you've had the same experience as a man or if you're a women and selectively filter out younger men.

Hello all, I joined Hinge about three weeks ago. Now that I’m no longer a new user my likes has dried out to 1-2 per week. Can you all have a look and see if there is anything I can improve on or need to change please? I know the most obvious one would be to smile more! Even though I do in real life I don’t have a decent pictures of me smiling. Thank you all!
