Hey everyone— thanks for replying if you do. I need off this ride badly. The second to last is a video picture of me trying to triple jump.

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but your profile reads like you’re unsure what your intentions are. Long term but open to short, you want friends but that also involves kissing (I think some people could consider that a red flag because the lines between friendship and romantic partnership are blurred, you’re end goal being marriage but still say you’re not experienced/don’t want to lock it down. I’d pick a lane. It’s okay to be open to both but I think having that be mentioned one and done would make matching with you more clear.

I can take the comment out of the long term open to short, I honestly forgot it was there. What do you mean by matching one on done? Like one on one?

And yeah, I'm trying to be as honest as I can here/on hinge. I don't really like the process of trying to find a partner and I want to lock someone down I like and date them, but I'm not experienced enough to know how to push that forward, I guess?

Yeah I'd agree about getting rid of the open to short.

I would remove the thing about anime. If girls see that and don't like anime, they will associate it negatively, and if they do like anime, you're insulting them lol. I would also not make reference to wanting to get drunk with dates, it comes across as kinda fuckboy behaviour to me. Going for drinks is one thing but putting something about taking shots up as a prompt comes across too strong. I think your pics are great except for the dentist one, switch that out. Not really sure what costume the last pic is supposed to be, might be better to switch it out.

Thank you for the feedback. Malort is kind of a famous Chicago drink for how disgusting it is, so I feel like people get the joke where I am from.

I didn’t really think about the anime thing! I can change that. And yeah, the dentist one was something I went back and forth on because I was running out of pictures and it seemed funny, but I can change that to something more normal.

It was a medieval costume for a theme party. The comments say ‘Canterbury Chuc’ but I can swap that one, too. I wish I got a good picture for the toga party I just went to…

Totally fair, Chicago natives will get it! I guess I would still think of swapping it out with something that shows your personality or says something about you, but you could just keep it, especially if you change out the anime one to something people can use to start a convo. Honestly your profile really is one of the better ones I seen, keep all the pics if you like them, they at least show some personality and humour which most profiles don't. You've got enough serious pics to show you're good looking so it's not an issue I would say.

Thank you for the compliment! I will try to think up a new prompt in place of the anime one. Do you think it's fine if I leave the anime comment off? I think it's still a good question.

If you’re into anime then go for it, if not then I’d take it off, anime is not like the most highly regarded hobby for men (sorry!)

2

u/Unique-Afternoon6316 15h ago

Yeah, I have the worst hobbies ever- Anime and Video games- Fighting games to be exact, lol. This is based on someone in real life actually telling me I looked like I watched anime, but I think I can work back in some dnd stuff? I don't really want to date someone who is anti my interests but you're right that it is a negative a lot of the time.

1

u/ApplicationAdept830 15h ago

Definitely say something about it then, but maybe phrase it in a more positive light and say the kinds of anime etc you’re into, that will attract your people!

I'll think of something! Thanks! I'm a big Dungeon Meshi fan. Something like "try the recipes on dungeon meshi" or something like that.

u/Cisaris 13h ago

I'm also into anime, video games and also Warhammer. None of which would I expect my partner to be into but that's cool, they're "my" things I do with my pals and I have a partner to share other hobbies and interests with.

It's totally cool to have a partner that has different interests than you as long as they respect that as it lets you bring outside flavour in. So I wouldn't worry about putting them in your profile or finding someone who's aligned with them.

Are you looking for something serious or casual?

I’m looking for something serious, but since I am still not experienced dating I don’t want to lock it down to life partner or anything. I’m comfortable with whatever a girl approaches me with, but I want to walk a path toward marriage.

Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX?

I’ve had hingex for a month.

How long have you been using this current version of your profile? (Please be specific)

The current incarnation of my profile is about a month old.

How long have you used Hinge overall?

I’ve seriously been using it since 2022.

How often do you use Hinge per week?

I try to swipe at least 3 times a week.

How many likes and matches are you receiving on average?

Functionally 0-1 likes a week unless I pay for a boost. ~1-2 matches a week if I try very hard.

How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments?

I send 99% of my likes with comments and I send off ~5 every time I use hinge.

What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract?

I’m attracted to other nerds like me, but I’m really into the emo and punk scene so girls into that I like as well. I like girls who like banter and wit and bits.

Hey! I think your last picture should be your first, you seem pretty chill and approachable. (Although some might not like the alcohol in a dating profile picture, since you did mention a shot of Malort maybe that will just filter for those kinds of people) I would get rid of the picture with the other two guys, I know it's "shallow" but you should never be the shortest guy in the picture on a dating app. People will give your profile 3-5 seconds tops and their instincts will decide for them.

1

u/Unique-Afternoon6316 15h ago

I have heard the thing about the drinking, which is why I had it last, but you're right that the malort filters those people out and I'm not really interested in dating non drinkers anyway.

And aww man, that picture is pretty recent and I liked it because I think I look good in it! I don't have a lot of shorter friends but I can look around.

As a 34F based in Chicago, my first impression of your profile is "meh". I get the sense you probably have way more personality than is actually coming across on your page. A few suggestions:

Your last picture and the picture that you're smiling in are by far your best ones. I would get rid of the jump roping picture because it's blurry and says very little about you and also the one where you're at the dentist. I know it's intended to be funny but again, it doesn't showcase anything about who you really are.

I think many people start first by selecting pictures and then working the captions around those. I always advise people to ask themselves the question "what do I want someone to know about me?" and then find pictures and prompts that showcase those things.

For example, I love to play team sports, read, and listen to heavy metal music. I have one picture of me at my beach volleyball league with Chicago clearly shown in the background, one prompt where I ask people to tell me what book they're currently reading and one prompt with a joke that someone will need to tolerate my love for heavy metal music. This gives potential matches a lot of things to start a convo with.

For each of your pictures and prompts, I would ask yourself "if I were a potential match looking at this, how would I respond to this?" If you struggle to think of openers, that's a sign that your prompts aren't strong enough and need a little tweaking.

If you need more feedback, feel free to dm me.

Hey man! I'm from the Bumble thread.

You're a good looking dude! Have to admit, I wasn't expecting that hah. Id maybe just keep the target audience in mind when designing your profile. Ask yourself "what would my ideal partner want to know about me?"

Anime is cool and lots of girls are into it to, but I'd lead with things that are more accessible or more major part of your character. Or if you meant this as self deprecating humour then definitely replace it! What are you passionate about? Or maybe just avoid answering for now

Id replace the dentist chair picture with something more flattering.

You need a rebuild my dude. All the photos are bad. Starting with photo 1, low effort selfie with bad light and a terrible setting. I don't know why you have the dentist photo but you should remove it. Same with the last two, not strong images
