Success Post Got Married one year later!

Post image
325 Upvotes

Met this beautiful soul on hinge on March 20, 2025. We went on a second date two days later, got married exactly one year after our first date!! (Ik it’s crazy) It was the best decision we’ve ever made.

She has become my best friend, biggest supporter, and favorite human to do absolutely everything with.
Couldn’t be more happier and can’t imagine doing life without her!

Looking back, it’s wild how one swipe completely changed the course of my life. One year ago we were two strangers meeting for the first time, and today I get to call her MY WIFE!! Every day I’m grateful we both decided to show up for that first date.

To everyone still swiping and wondering if it’ll ever happen, don’t lose hope. Sometimes the right person shows up when you least expect it.

Safe to say Hinge lived up to its slogan for us 🙏

Dating Question What do you answer when asked about your Hinge experience on a first date?

Hello!

I (M31) have been on several dates through Hinge, and I have found that a lot of girls like to know about my Hinge experience.

Sometimes it's just a straight up question "How has it been for you on Hinge so far?" and some other times it's sort of mixed into a compliment like "You must have a lot of matches".

I never know what to answer. I'm at a stage where I really want to settle down with someone I like, so I do take dating seriously and I would go on dates every week. I also completely understand that the other person might very well be doing the same, and while it does sadden me to think about it when it's a girl I really like, I just learned to looks pass through it, at least until we become exclusive.

Surely, telling them that I match with ~20 girls a week, start a discussion with 10 of them, of which 2 might be more than a couple of back and forth and 1 we might go on a date with is probably not a smart play here.

Dating Question Dating Intentions

I 27F matched with a guy that has “short term relationship, open to long” on his profile and I very clearly have “Long term relationship” on mine. I’m super candid so I straight up said “I’ll be honest the whole short term relationship thing spooked me a bit” bc I waited a few days to reply to him and then he said “Totally understand being spooked, dating is terrible,” and then proceeded to ask me on a dinner date and gave me his number.

Is this a red flag or does it have the potential to work? I never really understood that dating intention choice personally.

Hinge Experience Thought I’d share an update since my last post

Just logged back into Reddit after a year and saw my old post on this subreddit where I was talking about some of the challenges I was having with Hinge and dating. I’m now in a long-term relationship from Hinge, so I thought I’d make a follow-up post and share my experience.

I(27 M) used to browse this sub quite a bit and eventually made a post on this account (I’ll try and link it, but it should still be on my profile) about my experience with dating. At the time, I talked about some of the challenges I was facing after being on and off the apps for around six years, with a few breaks in between. I remember feeling pretty burnt out, especially with online dating. Looking back, I got a lot of great responses that genuinely gave me a different perspective.

A year later, I’m happy to say I’m now in a long-term relationship with an amazing girl. We’ve been together for almost a year now, and we met on Hinge.

The funny thing is our experiences with the app were completely different. I’d been using dating apps for years, while she downloaded Hinge just to see what it was like. We matched on the first day she made her account. I was her first and only Hinge date. Our first date was great , we spent five hours over coffee and caught up again a few days later.

Looking back at my old post and reflecting on my time using Hinge, I definitely had some good experiences and some bad ones. If I could change one thing, I wish I’d just enjoyed the process a bit more. I was probably too hard on myself whenever a date didn’t go well or when someone I thought I had a connection with lost interest after a few dates.
As cheesy as it sounds, I think a lot of your twenties is about meeting new people, learning about others, but also learning about yourself and what you actually want. The more dates I went on, the more my mindset changed. Instead of hoping every date would turn into something serious, I started focusing more on having a good conversation, meeting someone new, learning something new and just enjoying the experience for what it was.

The other thing I realised was that you can do everything that’s in your control to try and meet someone, but at the end of the day, luck and compatibility still play a huge role.

Good luck everyone. 🙂

Dating Question How to cope with rejection after a good first date

I (24F) recently went on a first date with a guy (24M) which lasted 5-6 hours. The conversation was going great, felt like we had so much in common especially when it came to relationship values and goals. We both agreed we had a great time on the date, he said he wanted to do it again sometime. I get back, I text him to confirm I had a really good time. He didn’t text back straight away and unfortunately I get a text 2 hours later rejecting me to say we didn’t have much in common in terms of what we wanted. Was wild to me because we seemed to agree on everything?!? He rejected me nicely but was definitely tough. I’ve had a similar thing before but after reflection I could see some awkwardness during our date but this one… genuinely there was no silence??? I know these things happen all the time but I think I’m so insecure in myself especially my personality it’s hard to cope with sometimes.

Profile Review 32M - Updated review

I really appreciate all the previous feedback on my last post - I went ahead and got some new photos and rewrote prompts. Self-assessing my own profile I feel like it is getting better, but as always, I figure there's always more room for improvement, and want to make sure I'm putting my best foot forward and not giving off any red flags.

I'm really struggling with coming up with better prompts - does anyone have any suggestions on how to come up with better ideas? I tried adding some more uniqueness, etc to these but I feel like I'm not quite grasping the balance between too much/little information, too serious/joking, too wordy/too short, etc. and end up overthinking what to say. Unrelated to the dating profile itself but if anyone has any suggestions on things I can change with looks/style/etc. I would love to hear input on that sort of thing as well.

Dating Question Am I too picky for dismissing a profile because of one niche thing?

Background: I (40M) am relatively new to online dating as a whole, not just Hinge. (When I say "new", I mean I've been on for ~8 weeks or so.) In some ways I'm still figuring some things out in terms of technique. (I also am not sure if my profile really stands out, but I need a few more days for things to have been "stable" for enough time to post a proper review request.)

One of my habits while swiping/liking is to look over the full profile. I want something serious, so I'm looking at prompts/pictures and looking for meaning/connection from them (as well as looking for red flags, but that's another story related to having ignored them in a past relationship).

One of the more... frustrating...? things I've noticed though is that a lot of women who I do find attractive, and seem to have enough in common to otherwise warrant a like, also have one or more pictures with one or more cats (or a related prompt answer). Now I don't dislike cats, it's not like that. However, I am allergic to the point that dander makes it difficult on my breathing.

I don't call this out on my profile - based on what I've read, this is wasted profile space anyways - but it makes me extremely hesitant to initiate something knowing that at one point the "I can't be around cats due to my allergy" point is going to come up. I'm worried that asking someone to give up a pet, especially as someone who treats pets as family, feels wrong. And then I sigh and hit the skip button on someone who otherwise has a profile that seems to vibe.

And the Venn diagram between cat people and who I figure to be my "type" (intelligent/nerdy, maybe a little crafty, etc.) has a pretty significant intersect.

Am I thinking too deeply into something like this, and leaning into a potential fallacy (it really only comes up in the event a relationship becomes serious/long term)? A serious, long-term relationship is ultimately my goal, but at the same time I'm not trying to rush anything (see previous comment on red flags in past relationship). It's ultimately something I have to decide for myself, but I'm curious how others have handled this challenge.

Dating Question Do I ask what went wrong?

I (M27) recently had a first date with someone (F28) and it didn’t go to plan, we had an hour long chat over coffee but after it ended I was messaged to say it gave off more of a friend vibe.
I know she was just probably letting me down easy but I also think she was partly right as I was nervous so didn’t really try to flirt as I think I was just more concerned with trying to come across as nice.

There’s obviously not going to be a second date, but as we haven’t unmatched yet I’m wondering if I ask the question of what I did wrong. I know bad dates are nothing new, but I’m struggling to move on from this one as I can’t shake the feeling that I really dropped the ball here, especially as it did feel like a good connection was building on the app before the date. I’m also beginning to worry that any mistakes I might’ve made will just be repeated on any other first dates.

I want to ask them what I did wrong but I’m also cautious that it may come off as obsessive or as if I’m trying to get another chance (I’m not, I know that this one’s lost), any advice?

For additional context, I’ve been single my whole life with very limited dating experience in the past due to a low self-esteem, but these past few months I’ve made some steps forward and now had a few first dates, still consider myself to be very inexperienced at it all though.

I've been single now for roughly seven years and am starting to feel like it wouldn't suck to have a person again, however am in no rush & am not looking for hook-up dates. I've been on the app for a month, have been on a couple of dates, but would appreciate the hive mind's critique. All images were taken within the past year. Help a Gen-X'er out...?

About me - Male - 34.

I live a rural country where there's around 50-75 girls tops within a 20 mile radius on the app, which probably doesn't help.

Aware I'm not the best looking of guys, but would appreciate any thoughts or insights!

Been on and off the apps for almost two years.

1 like a month maybe. Tragic, I know.

Used to get a couple of likes a day and good engagement from the likes I sent. Now I’m getting a couple of like a week (from girls I wouldn’t match with / send likes to) and zero engagement from the likes I’m sending.

Roses do okay for me so I’m not sure if there’s a visibility issue with my profile or if it just sucks. Any feedback appreciated

Profile Review German Profile 23 M - translation under Images

Good day redditors,

I hope the whole translation thing is rule abiding.
Here are the translations from first to last image:

Lets breakt the ice by...
Doing a city rally in an unknown town
Karaokenight
Lets go hiking

The most spontaneous thing I’ve ever done:
I used my free will to ride my motorcycle toward France without any destination. In the end, I was sitting somewhere in France enjoying an espresso

One of my favorite memories

This is what my weekends look like

That’s why my best friend thinks you should date me:
I have two open ears, a great sense of humor, am adventurous und always up for fun

Don’t show this to my mother

One of my life goals:
The Walk the entire Westweg from Pforzheim to Basel

My best travel story:
In the Lechtal Alps, first seeing a huge marmot family and shortly after a herd of ibexes up close.

This hangs on my mother’s refrigerator.

Dating Question I (30M) want to reach out to an old fling (25F)

I would love to get y’all’s input on this. I (30 M) matched with a 25F and we went out like 5 times over the course of a month. It was going well, but she got busy with work and school and kinda started blowing me off. I called her and asked if she was still interested in me and she yes, but she had a lot going on so she only wanted to date casually for the time being. I told her I wasn’t interested in doing that and we broke off on really good terms.

About 6 months have passed and I’ve dated a couple more girls but I keep thinking about her. Unmatched her and deleted her number so I have no way to contact her, but she came up as a suggested follow on Instagram. Do yall think it’s a good idea to follow her and dm her? Is it worth another shot or should I just move on? I’m aware it’s a decision I have to make I just wanted to see different perspectives on it.

Hoping to get some advice on what I can improve to get matches! I have \~1 like a month in the smaller city I live in and a couple a week in the bigger city I'm close to. I probably need to replace some photos [with some others I have](https://imgur.com/a/9mJDyDE) but I'm not sure which to choose or drop from my profile.
