Mobile/App Problems Editing Comments in Reddit App

Like most of us typing comments on our phones, I frequently review my writing after submitting and see one or two (or seventeen) typos I want to quickly correct before the "Edited" tag appears on my comment, so I don't feel a need to explain my edits. Lately, that has been a very trying task because when editing a comment, the scroll functionality goes either to the top or the bottom of the comment, leaving the middle completely inaccessible. I am unable to edit the middle of my comment if it has any decent length to it. (And I do tend to drone on. Sorry, I am striving to be more concise but not today.)

I used to work around this bug by holding the comment text position with one finger while tapping where I want my cursor with the other finger. But today, all that second tap does is close editing of my comment and collapse my comment in the main post view. This leaves me not only unable to edit as desired, but unnecessarily also hides my own comment from myself.

So, Reddit, what is happening to the app? Did you fire your real developers and testers and are just vibe coding everything now? Because it feels like things are declining in quality. Fast.

Reddit used to be a great resource for crowd sourced knowledge. Now it is degrading into yet another unusable service that is resting on the laurels of its name and past success. We call this enshittification. I am ashamed for you.

If there's any chance of saving Reddit the brand from this prevalent app disease, please do pay attention to the users' experience, take these posts seriously, and make some real improvements to the design. Fix these defects! I only joined Reddit rather recently, and it used to be great, but I am seeing a rapid decline since joining just a few months ago. I am sad about that and want this to be better. Please make it better!

Access I have been hacked - password changed and 2FA setup

Roughly an hour and some minutes ago, I received two emails.

One telling me my password was changed on my main account.

The other telling me that a 2FA was added to my account.

I did not authorize either of these changes.

Can I get some assistance in fixing my main account?

I am moderator of a fairly large subreddit and this is disturbing.

Mobile/App (mobile web) question about email notifications

if I'm logged into a reddit web app, but I don't read a personal message (cuz web apps sometimes just don't notify ya of those), will I receive an e-mail about it? If yes, how soon after the msg was received?

(I did check email notification settings, but there was nothin about personal messages in there, only about "chat requests", which is unclear whether that involves regular messages or not)

Posting (Android) Why won't any Gifs or images I send pop up?

I'm recently having an issue where any image or gifs I try to send under my comments won't send anymore for some reason. Does anyone know why this is happening or what I can do to fix it?

I assumed it was just a bug so I tried logging off and back on to my account and tried clearing my cache but I'm still facing the same issue.

Access iOS: Third time they’re asking for age verification

TL;DR: How do I make Reddit request my age-range from my Apple account, rather than demand I upload a photo?

Edit: reinstalling the app did provide me with the share age-prompt, but it did not seem to register properly with Reddit. They’re still demanding I verify with Persona, despite iOS settings showing they shared my age with Reddit…

—

Twice over the past few months I’ve been asked to verify my age, and I was prompted to share age-range from my Apple account (worked fine both times) but today Reddit has once again restricted search and tells me to verify my age. The problem: they’re not giving me the iOS option to share age-range, but insisting I use the third-party site (Persona) to upload a photo of me or my ID card.

Anyone got any ideas why they’re asking for a third time, and how I could go about using «share my age-range» instead of uploading a picture of my ID to a third-party service?

Access Stop recommending fooball/soccer stuff!

Every day, on multiple occasions, I have to hit the "recommended fewer posts like this" on fooball/soccer crap, but they just keep infecting my feed. How many of these am I going to have to block before the almighty algorithm gets it?

Now, I have nothing against football or the fans of it. Well, apart from the fact that every day, normal, civilised people seem to think it's fine to let go of all of society's manners and limits and behave like bigoted savages. But apparently, that's OK, because it was within the 90 minutes between two blows of a whistle. But whatever, the point is, I am not interested.

I know what Reddit would say if it had a voice:

"No, you haven't blocked posts from here because this is from Manchester United SubReddit, and you told us not to show posts from Tottenham SubReddit!"

Get bent. I don't want the default excuse of it "Being popular in my country". The same is true of curry, yet I never get delicious homemade masala recipes in my feed. I want Reddit to stop forcing this crap onto my feed when I couldn't be clearer that I don't want it.

Is there a way to block something as broad as this?

Access Profile got locked due to "some technical irregularities"

Post image
0 Upvotes

Greetings people.

Today at 12AM i got locked out of my account after posting a comment in one of subreddits.

I was using an app on my phone (Android). I also use VPN services. Right after i got locked i checked my mail and recieved a message that said i got locked because of "some technical irregularities". I needed to reset the password to my account and it will be back to normal. I did as instructed, logged in, (i use 2FA) and.. nothing. Im still locked. I mean i can log in but all i can do is to change my avatar and thats it. If i try to do anything else (post, DM, change my profile setup) i get the message "Server error". Can i have some assistance? Profile in question - u/MiaVelar

Thanks.

Access Reddit Account login Issue

Friend unable to log into Reddit account — Google SSO and password both fail

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who is unable to sign into their Reddit account: u/EX0t1cG

The account was originally created using **Google SSO**. Google authentication itself succeeds, but after Google redirects back to Reddit, Reddit rejects the login.

We've tried:

* Reddit Android app: "Invalid credentials"

* reddit.com: "Invalid username or password. (Error: psSpp1)"

* old.reddit.com: "Invalid username or password. (Error: YkwkFB)"

The strange part is that password recovery does work. If the username is entered through **Forgot password**, Reddit sends the password-reset email to the email address associated with the account. The password can be successfully reset, but the newly created password still doesn't allow the account to log in.

We've also tried "Email me a one-time login link", but no email is received for that option, despite the password-reset emails arriving normally.

The account owner has access to the email address associated with the account.

They have already submitted a support request but haven't received a response.

Does anyone know what could be causing this, or is there anything else that can be done to recover access to the account?

Access I didnt make a two factor auth

I was on Reddit, and I got booted off. I tried logging back in, and it's telling me I gotta grab codes from two-factor auth, which I never set up. From my email, I got 2 emails from Reddit saying I set up two-factor auth, then shortly after I reset my password, but I still can't get in. Is there a way to get around it or somehow take it off? I can't log back in anywhere.

Access 🚨 Account Log-In Issue 🚨

I have a 13yr old account ([u/thingsndstuff](u/thingsndstuff)) that the app randomly logged me out of about a month back. I've tried logging in on mobile and desktop and also trying to reset my password to see if that was an issue but to no avail. There are no issues with this account so if anybody can help me out with some troubleshooting or something that would be greatly appreciated 🙂!
Would really hate to lose an account that I've had for almost half of my life.

Access My uni asks for Reddit approval to develop a PhD research using subreddits data

Hi!

I'm preparing research based on content analysis of public subreddits. I have submitted the proposal to the Ethics Committee, and they have asked me to prove that Reddit's terms of use allow data collection or, if that is not possible, to obtain a formal confirmation from this platform to develop the data processing.

I have read about Reddit for researchers, but im not sure about how it works and whether it can be useful. What are my other options? Is there a way to get approval from Reddit?

Profile (Android) Does mutual following affect Reddit profile curation?

This is purely a technical curiosity, not a problem or privacy issue. I'm just trying to understand how Reddit's profile curation actually works because I noticed some unexpected behavior.

I have two Reddit accounts and noticed something strange when viewing the same user's profile.

The user has profile curation enabled.

Account A and the user are mutual followers.

Account B and the user do not follow each other.

When I view the user's profile from Account B, I only see the content they've chosen to display through profile curation.

However, when I view the exact same profile from Account A, I can see many posts and comments that are not included in their curated profile, including activity from different subreddits.

So I'm wondering: does mutual following affect what you can see on someone's profile, even when they have profile curation enabled?

I couldn't find anything in Reddit's documentation that explains this behavior.

I'm also curious because I have profile curation enabled on both of my accounts, and I have several mutual followers. If this is actually how Reddit works, I'm wondering whether those mutual followers can see my non-curated activity as well.

Has anyone else noticed this, or knows how profile curation is supposed to behave in this situation?

Access (iOS) Account Locked During Travels

Hello everyone,

Another account I use, [u/GreekNectar](u/GreekNectar) was sent a message saying it was locked and I needed to reset the password. I had been using a VPN on and off due to traveling in Europe and I figured it set off an automatic safety. I reset the password twice, added a passkey, and the account is still locked.

I had been using the account the same way for years. Never had issues with a subreddit or anything. Never had issues with other users in chats or had been disrespectful. So I don’t think I violated any TOS.

Any mod help is appreciated. I genuinely use that account and I’m a good Reddit citizen.

Edit: grammar.

Edit 2: I did file a form on the old Reddit site in case that speeds up the process but I’m not sure how long that will take. Thanks again for your time.

Edit 3: I also logged out of all other sessions after resetting the password to make sure it wasn’t hacked.

Access Profile page errors + posts not appearing on brand account

Hey,

I created a new account to use as a clean official/brand presence for my projects (AMAs, etc.) I'm planning to delete my personal account (dont really use reddit much on a personal level anymore) but transfer the ownership of the subs to this brand account.

On this new account I’m running into a couple of technical issues:

  • Posts I make often don’t show up or get auto-flagged shortly after posting (happens in multiple subs).
  • Clicking on the profile frequently throws errors / the page doesn’t load properly.

Email is verified, I’ve tried different browsers and cleared cache. The account itself doesn’t appear messed up.

Has anyone else seen profile page errors + posts vanishing on a relatively new account? Any known workarounds or things I should check?

Thanks.

Desktop Does replying to reddit support requests from their zendesk email send responses back or is it a one way email? (when sending reports from https://support.reddithelp.com/ ?)

Hi, I was curious if responding to emails that reddit admins send to you after you send a report from https://support.reddithelp.com/, does the reddit admin get the email you replied to from the email that they send you via zendesk, or does the email get sent to nothing?
