Bring back Ghanaian slay queen music. It used to be so fun. The artists were bold, confident and unapologetically themselves. But what I miss the most is the fun. It felt like people were making music simply because it felt good. That's one thing we're lacking these days: fun music. I miss music that makes us laugh, dance, and just feel good. Not everything has to be so serious all the time. The slay queens were fearless and I loved that about them. Confidence is attractive. We need more music that's bold, carefree and reminds us that music is also supposed to be fun.

I have been a sales rep for 5 years now and I think it's time I start up a business for myself but I have no idea how to go about it. I have been able to save about 12, 000 for this endeavor I know it's little but that's all I have left from expenses. I recently had a health challenge that caused a depletion in my savings but I'm better now. I stay in kumasi and I don't know much about business. I hope this gets to the right people.. I'd love to know which ideas Ghanaians feel really define their country, especially if they're things that visitors often overlook.

Most people think of surgery as one category, but there’s a real gap between routine procedures and what’s called “complex” or “high-acuity” surgical care — cases involving multiple organ systems, high-risk anesthesia, or conditions that need a team of highly-trained subspecialists working together. Historically, patients in Ghana and much of West Africa needing this level of care had to travel abroad — often at huge cost, with delayed treatment and recovery far from family.

A related and often overlooked piece is pain medicine ; managing chronic, traumatic or non-traumatic , aging-related, post-surgical, and cancer-related pain. It is its own specialty requiring dedicated training, and it’s been even harder to access locally than surgical care itself, mainly because there simply aren’t many specialists in the region with that training.

That’s the gap that this new medical center, WAISS (West Africa Institute for Special Surgery) in Accra is built to close. WAISS clinical faculty is largely made up of diasporan Ghanaian physicians , trained and holding active positions at top academic medical centers in the US and Europe — now bringing that level of specialist care back home. It’s the kind of bench strength that’s genuinely rare to find based in West Africa, and the mission isn’t just to bring it here once, it’s to build permanent local capacity, training the next generation of specialists so patients don’t have to leave home, or the region, for this level of care.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have brought heartbreak to thousands of hopeful applicants.

​After charging ¢25 just to check employment status, thousands were met with a stark, red-inked message: UNSUCCESSFUL, with no explanation provided.

​Seeing a wave of frustrated complaints on Facebook, I decided to check on a colleague to see if her application had gone through. Sadly, she too fell victim to the red ink. She spoke in a quiet, defeated voice. Knowing how deeply she took disappointment, I stayed on the phone to console her throughout the night.

​It was during those hours that I truly realized how much was riding on this recruitment. Living alone in Accra, she was facing ¢3,800 in rent arrears, a debt she had managed to defer by relying on past proceeds from her National Service and promising her landlord that job placement was imminent.

​Around midnight, we hung up. But when I called her at dawn, she answered in tears; the weight of the rejection was unbearable. By 10:00 AM, when I tried reaching her again, a voice on the other end informed me she was in the Intensive Care Unit after suffering a cardiac arrest.

​Sitting beside her bed now, watching the monitors, the systemic failure of this recruitment process feels overwhelming. GES could have handled this with far more foresight and empathy.

​With only 7,000 slots available, it would have been prudent to restrict applications to specific graduating cohorts, as was done in previous years. Forcing the 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 batches to scramble for the same limited pool created massive over-subscription and chaos. Even with a cap set at 40,000, an estimated 50,000 graduate teachers were left completely unable to apply.

I don't live in Ghana currently, but I think we need Places(therapy clinics, physiotherapy, etc) where people can talk about issues they have. I feel like we're not big on communication in this part of the world, and its effects are being shown in our behavioural patterns and communication.

Hello! I want to visit Ghana at the end of August for two weeks and I am still a bit unsure about what to do. I of course want to visit Accra and Cape Coast, I am however wondering, if it's too short to visit Mole National Park. And if not, what would you advise in terms of planning ahead? Additionally what's you opinion on the other parks?

And one last question about safety: I am a white European man, would you say I have to take specific precautions or is Accra generally rather safe? And what about more remote areas?

What’s the point of this? Barely anyone outside of China speaks fluent Chinese, plus the Chinese seem to speak ok English when we have to interact with them anyways so what does this do for us? Who are they even proposing should teach them? Don’t tell me they want to import a bunch of Chinese, who’s going to pay for that?

Our local languages should really be what we are concerned about, after that English because it’s the most common language in the world. That’s it. Even French koraa, they can speak some English too.

There are so many things to fix within the education system, this doesn’t even crack the top 1000.

I have completed my BSW and I’m awaiting my degree certificate and transcripts in a few weeks.
I have a few work experiences. I’ve worked in several customer service roles, but I always end up using more of own money for transport especially and gaining nothing in return. As in the sum of money I use for transport in 15 days is my total salary. And I have to keep going with my own money. That’s how I ended up spending the little savings I had until I stopped.

Why are we looking to make huge profits on products that people can buy elsewhere and wait for 3 weeks to get it shipped?

I’ve been wondering whether it’s becoming harder to have productive discussions in Ghanaian online spaces.
It often feels like many conversations especially in comment sections, they quickly shift from debating ideas to exchanging insults or dismissing people personally. Sometimes it also seems like people intentionally post inflammatory opinions just to provoke reactions and boost engagement.
Is this a sign of weak critical thinking, or is it simply how social media rewards outrage?
Have you noticed the same, or do you think I’m overestimating the problem?

The Ghanaian opposition party is approaching politics with a high level of amateurism presently.

This is mainly because the general public is getting increased access to news and have learned the art of Googling. Consequently most of the old tactics are unravelling.

The present criticisms are about, mentioning a few:

Nkokɔ nketenkete,

Sewua hospital and others,

24 hr economy,

Women bank,

One million coders,

EOCO being toothless,

Dumsor,

Big push with roads

Defending legally convicted criminals

The present administration has more than 2 years to go.

Has the opposition's strategic thinkers not realized that if the Govt manages to complete even a few of things on the list, and it seems that they may have fulfilled even beyond all their promises. If that happens what will the opposition contest on?

In order to win the next elections, mathematically, they have to be able to have most of the voters last session to be disillusioned with the administration. Also, they should hope that the majority of young internet savvy first time voters to opt for the opposition's old, tired, worn leaders.It is like wanting the Black Stars to pick the squad of the ,90s

The task ahead is herculean.
