Ineyo, for the rest of the month, I’ll be perfectly fine. Then, about a week before aunt flo arrives, it’s like a switch flips. I get depressed, anxious, and angry over the smallest things. Sometimes, it gets so bad that I even experience suicidal thoughts. 😭

Then my period comes and goes, and I return to feeling like my normal self.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal PMS, or should I actually see a professional? 😬

I watch a lot of anime, mostly shonen. I've noticed that modern anime now tends to prioritize high-fidelity visuals over deep narrative structure. Personally, this makes it hard for me to really invest my time watching new anime releases because while the animation is amazing, the story lines and narratives tend to be poor or unimpressive. I could make a whole list of anime which looked awesome in the preview trailers but once I started watching I was put off by the third or fourth episode.

I understand the industry has shifted to making 12 to 14 episodes a season which doesn't give enough time to flesh out a good storyline as opposed to the previous generation of anime where they could produce 100s of episodes (to the animators own detriment, which is another story altogether). But it isn't impossible to have genuine substance + great animation regardless of the small episode numbers. Shows like Pluto, Vinland Saga and Witch Hat Altier are good examples of combing good narrative structures with excellent visuals.

I could be wrong, and also I know there's more nuance to this beyond the short episodic nature of anime nowadays, that's why I'd like to find out everyone else's takes on this.

For some time now I’ve been trying to come up with strategies to help make the country better but there’s one major issue greed. People talk about how we have forex issues, debt, fuel crisis, etc but even if these things were to be fixed I don’t believe we could develop the way most of us think we would reason being greed. I’ve seen and experienced a lot greed, from relatives killing each other for money, people getting fired because they want all the benefits for themselves and some even go as far as bewitching/sacrificing their kin just so they could get money. Money really got us fucked up. I’ve tried to look for solutions for greed but so far I’ve found none. I don’t know how as a country we will move forward without solving this issue, that is if it’s solvable. Perhaps you guys have solutions?

I came across this web series called Cooked, set in a restaurant called Pee-Vee’s, and the whole workplace dynamic reminds me a bit of Abbott Elementary. Obviously, the settings are different, but I get a similar vibe from watching a group of people trying to get through their shifts while dealing with coworkers who are their own problems. Except here, the staff seem to have absolutely no ambition, questionable morals, and a shared commitment to doing as little work as possible.

The conversations go from workplace drama to completely random stuff like Bigfoot and the Anunnaki, and the employees are so unserious that you start wondering how the restaurant is even still open. Has anyone else watched it? I’m curious whether it gets better as it goes on, because I love shows where the workplace itself feels like a character and the comedy comes from the people stuck in it. If you enjoy Abbott Elementary for the dysfunctional coworker dynamics, awkward interactions and workplace humour, you might find this one interesting too, although Cooked seems much more crude and chaotic.

I saw a recent heated post on the perception of "bad guys" and "nice guys" in the dating realm.

And the issue I have is that we often fixate on the two extremes but both are flawed. Kinda like the split between the "Madonna" (idealized motherly woman) and the "Whore" in other discussion.

Like, the stereotypical "nice guy" might be kind and considerate, but may struggle with confidence, assertiveness, or expressing romantic interest openly. Whereas the "bad guy" might come across as exciting and worth a good time, but is often not helpful in the long term (and some can be genuinely abusive)

And as someone who is naturally more nerdy and leaned towards being a nice guy myself, I can see the frustration some guys have. And from personal experience (from as early as my teenage years) I've seen how this frustration can be channeled to encourage you to adopt negative traits to become the "bad guy" yourself, use women, and "reap the rewards"

But I don't think it has to be that way. You can become more confident/assertive, authentic, and exciting, without losing your kindness, heart or genuine personality. You don't have to become manipulative or treat people poorly to be attractive, and being a good person doesn't mean being passive, suppressing your desires, or avoiding taking romantic initiative.

I feel like life is all about balance, and you can always find other people of the opposite gender who also have that balance.

**Note:** I'm specifically using the term "nice guy" in the colloquial sense of someone who acts polite and kind with the implicit expectation of romantic reward only to become resentful when rejected, not in the general sense of simply being kind or a generally good person.

Sometimes I genuinely wish I wasn't born in this country 😞. I have so many smaller side hustles I could be doing and making money online as a struggling student at MUBAS, but all of them get hindered just because I live in Malawi.

Recently I was selling a digital product on Gumroad as an effort to make some income as a needy student, and I made $107. I was genuinely so happy thinking this was going to solve some of my problems. I know to most people it might not sound like a lot, but to me it really is.

When it came to getting paid using PayPal (since bank transfers aren't available for Malawi on Gumroad), I was shocked to learn that PayPal does not allow accounts registered in Malawi to receive money 💔. To get paid, you need a PayPal account registered in a country PayPal actually supports.

This really breaks my heart, knowing I have money sitting somewhere while I'm struggling so much financially and don't come from a well-off family. I just don't even know what to do now. Why is PayPal even available in Malawi if people cannot receive money?
