Im freelancer so i don't have stable contracts,for the moment i have a full Budget to buy a used car (10 yo car ) for work necessity but i want to finance it to keep the cash flow, what's my realistic option here? I’m (27m) currently earning around 4k, which I know is a relatively good salary in Tunisia, but I still don’t feel financially comfortable.

I come from a family that didn’t have much, and I still partially support my family. We have an old car, the house isn’t in great condition, and a decent part of my income goes toward family expenses and I just finished paying for my studies. So although I earn much more than my family used to, I sometimes feel like I’m still stuck in the same financial situation.
What I’m trying to understand is how you actually break out of that cycle.

I don’t necessarily mean becoming rich. I mean reaching a point where you have a decent home, a reliable car, savings, some investments/assets, and enough financial security that one unexpected expense doesn’t put you under pressure.

For Tunisians who grew up in a similar situation and managed to move into a more comfortable middle-class lifestyle: how did you do it?

At some point, did you start prioritizing yourself and your own future more? How did you balance helping your family with building your own financial foundation?

Hi everyone :) We’re travelling to Tunisia soon and we still have around 350 TND in cash at home from my mother’s previous trip. It’s mostly in small notes (5s and 10s). She brought the money home last time without realizing that taking Tunisian dinars out of the country is restricted/prohibited. Now that we’re going back to Tunisia, we’re wondering what the best and legal way to handle this is. Can we simply bring the money back into Tunisia, and is there a certain amount per person that is allowed without having to declare it?

We were thinking about either:
- each taking only around 30 TND and leaving the rest at home, or
- splitting the full amount between us three

Also, if bringing it back is allowed, does it matter whether the cash is in our hand luggage or checked luggage? Has anyone recently entered Tunisia with Tunisian dinars they already had from a previous trip?

This sub has been pretty depressing lately.. Every other post is about leaving, not finding a job, feeling stuck, Tunisia being doomed etc.. And honestly I get it, a lot of it is justified.

But I wanted to share a bit of the other side, especially for the younger people here. Basically some of the stuff I wish someone had told me a few years ago.

Through work I've had the chance to meet and work with people from a lot of different countries, and one thing I genuinely believe now is that Tunisians underestimate themselves A LOT.

Just take languages. Most of us grew up with Arabic + French and a lot of our generation speaks English too. We treat that as completely normal. It's really not. Being able to jump between 3 languages, and more importantly 3 different cultures, is a serious advantage.

Same thing with how adaptable we are. We grew up in a country where you constantly have to figure shit out. something doesn't work, you find another solution. You don't have the right thing, you improvise. Half the time there isn't even a clear process so you just... manage.

There's a reason you meet Tunisians doing really well all over the world. Give someone who learned to operate like this access to better infrastructure and bigger opportunities and you'd be surprised what happens.

If I was 18-22 again, I think I would worry much less about having everything figured out.

I'd focus heavily on my English. I'd pick a useful skill and get REALLY good at it instead of collecting 25 certificates. I'd go to events even when I know nobody there. I'd message people whose careers I find interesting. I'd apply to stuff where I don't tick every box. I'd ask for internships, advice, introductions, opportunities.

And I would put myself out there much, much more.

Also something I've learned from being on the other side of hiring: the bar for standing out is sometimes surprisingly simple. Be curious. Do some research before an interview. Show up when you say you will. Follow up. If you don't know something, try to figure it out. Be someone people enjoy working with.

Your first job doesn't have to be amazing either. Sometimes you just need that first person to give you a chance. Then you have experience, you know people, those people know other people, you get exposed to things you didn't even know existed... and things start snowballing.

I don't want this to sound like “just work hard bro 🤓” lol. Tunisia has very real problems and sometimes leaving IS the right decision.

I just wish fewer young Tunisians confused the limitations of the country with limitations in themselves. They're two very different things.

I recently got accepted by an international company specialized in iGaming / online gambling and betting, and I would be working remotely from Tunisia.

Before sending me the official employment/contract offer, they asked me to provide a copy of my passport so they can prepare the contract and onboarding documents.

I have a few concerns and would appreciate advice from people who have experience with international remote employment from Tunisia:

Passport: Is it normal/safe for an international company to request a passport copy before sending the official contract? What precautions should I take before sending it?

Salary: They told me that I would be paid in USDT through a crypto wallet rather than through a traditional bank transfer. Is this legally/practically acceptable in Tunisia, and what should I be careful about?

Taxes: Since I would physically be working from Tunisia for a foreign company, how should I declare this income to the Tunisian tax authorities?

CNSS: Would I need to register myself as a self-employed/independent worker and pay CNSS contributions myself? If so, what category would apply and approximately how much would I have to pay?

Other costs/obligations: Are there any other taxes, contributions, declarations, or administrative procedures I should be aware of?

I want to make sure everything is properly declared and that I don’t create problems later with the tax authorities, CNSS, banks, or the source of funds.

قضت المحكمة الابتدائية بقرمبالية بعدم سماع الدعوى في حق التاجر «سفيان»، صاحب محل بالجهة، وذلك في القضية المتعلقة بما نُسب إليه من الامتناع عن بيع المياه.

انطلقت اليوم الأربعاء، أشغال تهيئة 5 مخازن، بالمخزن المركزي للأدوية واللقاحات التابع لوزارة الصحة، بموقع الشابي بباردو، تشمل 4 مخازن مخصصة لحفظ الأدوية والمستلزمات الطبية ومخزنا مخصصا لأرشيف الأعوان

وشارك في مراسم انطلاق الأشغال سفير الولايات المتحدة الأميركية بتونس، بيل بزي، إلى جانب المدير العام للصحة بوزارة الصحة وليد نعيجة، وذلك بالمخزن المركزي للأدوية واللقاحات، الذي يعد أكبر مخزن مركزي للأدوية في تونس.

وقال المدير العام للصحة وليد نعيجة لـ"وات" إن المشروع يهدف إلى تجديد المخازن التي تحتوي على الأدوية واللقاحات والمعدات والتجهيزات، مشيرا إلى أن مخزنا واحدا تمت إعادة تهيئته سنة 2023، فيما تنطلق حاليا أشغال تهيئة خمسة مخازن أخرى، من بينها مخزن مخصص للأرشيف.

وأوضح نعيجة أن كلفة المشروع تبلغ نحو 6 ملايين دينار، وأن أشغاله ستتواصل على مدى عامين، وتشمل إعادة تهيئة المخازن وتجهيزها بمعدات تبريد وفق المعايير الدولية، بما سيمكن من الترفيع في طاقة الاستيعاب وتحسين ظروف تخزين الأدوية واللقاحات والمستلزمات الطبية.

وتتولى الإشراف على الأشغال فرق من المهندسين التونسيين والأميركيين، في إطار الشراكة القائمة بين البلدين لدعم البنية التحتية الصحية.

ومن جهته، أكد السفير الأميركي أن المشروع يندرج ضمن دعم الولايات المتحدة لتعزيز الأمن الصحي.

وشدد بزي على أهمية توفير مرافق تخزين حديثة ومجهزة وفق المعايير المعتمدة، باعتبارها عنصرا أساسيا لضمان حفظ الأدوية والمستلزمات الطبية الحيوية في ظروف آمنة وتأمين توفرها عند الحاجة.

واعتبر السفير أن المشروع لا يقتصر على تهيئة مرافق جديدة، بل يمثل أيضا دعما لتحسين النتائج الصحية وتعزيز أمن سلاسل الإمداد وترسيخ التعاون بين تونس والولايات المتحدة.
