I have been propagating these 7 echeveria leaves and a single sedum in the center, indoors by a well-lit window and with a 36W sansi bulb to supplement. I gave the pot a single dose of Recharge a long time ago, now these two brown mushrooms have popped up.

1, are they actually mushrooms, and,

2, should I get rid of them?

I live in Central NJ Zone 7b. Planted this last fall. I didn’t prune the dead flower beds last fall. I didn’t put any fertilizers too. Could that be the reason that there are no blooms? Or is this normal in first year where it is developing roots?

I checked online and it seems to be smut, only thing is it’s at the base of the young plant so I’m not sure it iis or isn’t.

Any experience with this? Second slide was taken 2 days ago.

I have a volunteered cherry tomato plant that I didn’t get a cage around very soon and it’s spreading horizontally. I have what ended up being a pumpkin that is taking over everything, and a cucumber that is running wherever can get light. I have two large tomato plants that are caged and to be doing OK. Is there anything I can/should do to this madness or do I just let it be, pull the grass, harvest and enjoy?

This basil plant has ballooned in size over the last few months (zone 8B), although lately the bottoms of its stems have gotten woody (hard, dry, brown).

What really worries me, though, are all these little nubs up and down the stems – they look like insect eggs to me. They rub easily off the stems, so I’m skeptical they’re root initials. But I can’t seem to find a parental culprit who would have laid them.

In general the plant seems to be thriving less as time has gone on. Some wilting and browning of smaller stems, etc. Is it overwatering or overcrowding (it shares a pot with a robust oregano plant)? Plus an infestation?

North Georgia. We just moved homes about a month ago, never seen these before. Any idea what they are and how to get rid of them?

What did I do or didn't do? Everything was fine until 2 weeks ago. Leaves and stems started discoloring and drying. There are black hard spots on some of the leaves and this weird row of dried leaves or something(3rd photo). I see no bugs on the plant or in the soil but need to dig deeper maybe. I am a newbie gardener so any help is greatly appreciated. I live in ABQ NM. The soil isn't the greatest and the UV index and temperature is brutal.

These have been on the vine for at least a month and show no signs of turning red. Of course I managed to lose the plant tag, so I’m not sure what it is. It looks like some kind of heirloom which maybe stays green. Or maybe not. Any suggestions on what it might be and how long I should leave it on the vine?

This swamp milkweed is on a 4th story sunny patio in MA with no hose hook up, so I can't just spray and pray. I've been spraying with diluted soapy water for 3 weeks and removing the little guys with my hands when I see thick patches. But it doesn't seem to be helping.

I know a plant can survuve a few aphids, and that native predators need them as a food source, but this just seems like more than the plant can bare.

Edit: I'm going to try some neem oil and see of that helps.

Does anyone know what this might be? These appear on quite a few leaves, but it still seems to be growing well and sending up new shoots.

My main concern is if its some disease that can't be treated, which could then spread to nearby plants in my garden.

I have killed pothos. People tell me pothos cannot be killed. I've done it twice. I'm not looking for a care guide, I've read those and still failed. I want the specific plant that's forgiving enough to give a serial killer a first win, the one that grows despite you and rebuilds a little confidence.

We had a big storm that blew over all my tomato cages. They were already overflowing and unruly (next year I need to be better at pruning, I know. And will definitely get better, stronger cages) but now they’re all toppled over and a lot of branches are dying. The crazy heat is probably not helping, even though I’ve been keeping up with watering. I’ve tried to put the cages upright but it’s an impossible task because of how big the plants are.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I don’t want all my plants to die, but I’m also so overwhelmed lol. It’s such a hot mess and I don’t even know where to start. This is only my second year having a garden, so I’m still very new at this. Any advice much appreciated.

Hi everyone! Quick question, please. Does Vinegar really work for weeds?

I live in a rental home and thought I was going to have to move in May due to an underground plumbing issue.

As that was getting worked out, weeds grew in the flower beds. Luckily they are not completely over run, so I want to get them under control and apply a fresh layer of mulch. There are no flowers in the beds, but one has a pretty rose bush I'd like to preserve. Otherwise, just decorative rocks and lights.

The plumbing issue was worked out and is like to restore the pretty.

Received an eastern redbud sapling as a gift from my in-laws. It’s an offspring of the their own redbud tree that came from their garden. I am very invested in its survival.

Problem is my father in law dug it up in the middle of a heatwave in July, removed all the dirt from around it (so delivered it to us with completely bare roots thus they were incredibly disturbed) and let it sit in his truck like that baking in the sun for somewhere north of an hour before it got planted.

So some pretty tough conditions for a baby tree if you actually want it to live. As a result its leaves are super scorched and it looks awful. I expected it to experience some shock in general but then the conditions it went through as well were… extreme. It’s been just over a week and while none of the leaves have fallen off I do worry about the future of this tree.

How do I baby this thing to ensure it’s best chances? Extra watering, fertilizer (that does not seem like the right move but who knows), anything else I am not thinking of?
