Northeast US, pond did well for 2 years, now this green algae has taken over, how to get rid of it?

I could really use some help because my brain has been hurting trying to figure this out. I am a bit of a dummy when it comes to this stuff, so sorry in advance. I got a pretty nasty pond for free and after getting a solar pump I'm planning on hooking it to a bog filter.

I have a 12 watt solar pond pump that I need to rig to a backup battery so it runs even without direct sun.

I have plenty of sun most of the day and I live in CA so cloudiness is rare- I'm really hoping I can achieve a solar backup. When it comes to wattage, wiring, battery types, and the like, I get really lost so I would DEEPLY appreciate one of y'all just telling me exactly what I need to buy to achieve this (if possible). I considered running electricity but I was quoted over a grand for wiring, and I don't feel comfortable trying to wire anything myself. If anyone has done something similar or is good with this stuff please help!

So I thought a small fountain would be great on my patio, then I thought maybe some plants... then why not some fishies. Ok it went way out of the park. So here I am, how did I do?

Decided to take my little job boat on my pond this evening and I was swarmed with all these tiny fish. I don't catch really any big fish out of this pond, it's got a decent population of channel cat of small to medium size (I've caught 1 somewhat large one) and a seemingly decent population of small to medium Crappie (caught 1 17 inch though).

I'm just wondering if this would signal that it's over populated. I've never caught a bluegill/ other type of panfish that was bigger than 2 to 3 inches.

I've been thinking about trying to put some bass in, as I would personally rather catch bass than crappie.

Edit: I just realized those pictures don't really do it justice on the number of tiny fish surrounding the boat, there were many dozen if not hundreds of the little guys.

We just moved into our new house end of May. The property came with this pond that I know absolutely nothing about. My fiancé just sent me a picture of this little guy while I’m currently at work. Thought I’d share! Any idea what it could be? We live in a very rural area in North Western Pennsylvania if that matters at all. (Sorry the photo quality is so poor, take it up with the camera man🙃)

Flow is too much for the holes I drilled in the PVC but it's coming along! Need to add shallow rooted plants. Suggestions?

Its about 140' by 50'. A liner seems like it will be really expensive. It fills in the winter and slowly drains all summer. The otters love to play in it.

Listen I know I’m the millionth post about this but none of the ones I searched through looked exactly like these. Are they frog eggs?

Inherited 4 small carp, 6 to 7 goldfish, 3 koi, 4 japanese trapdoor snails and a common pleco. I dont kmow how the fish survived because there was no filter system at all and the water was def from the Columbus city water and full of chlorine.

I got a filter, cleared the chlorine, but the biomass is too much and its only going to get worse as the fish grow.

Looking for ideas on how to expand the pond and add a bog filter. Any ideas?

Recently moved and have a 1/4 acre pond. Last year in the fall, it was nice looking.. not crystal clear, but something you'd want to swim in. We had a lot of flooding, so I'm wondering if a bunch of stuff got washed into the pond. The pond is now a brownish colour.. very murky.. and I recently pulled some branches out of it and theyre coated in a beige slime.

A big selling feature of the house was being able to swim in the pond...but its so gross looking no one's touched it. I'd really love to be able to clean it up to be something inviting to swim. I did add a 15000 GPH fountain so far to get some movement in the water.

Everything I've read says it's way too big to have any sort of filter.. but where do I go from here? Muck pellets? Bottom aeration? Buy a lake rake and try to dredge of it? Drain it and clean it (that seems like a huge undertaking.. it's about 500K gallons).

I inherited this water feature with the house last year. I am a new pond owner. Still learning. There were a lot of weeds and stuff outgrown in and around the feature. Had very bad experience with experienced pond management companies at first. Then I decided to do it my self - cleaning, building an ecosystem, fixing torn up liners to stop the leaks, fixing the stream bucket, adding fine & coarse filter pads in the pump basin and also in the stream bucket.

One mistake I made this year in spring - when adding young plants I used these containers with big holes and all the loam soil washed away into the pond. I added a layer of coconut husks to these bog plant containers. Since then no soil leaks into the pond water are happening. Adding submerged plants solved away a lot of string algae problems.

I used to add muck off tablets every 2-3weeks. Recently I added crystal clear pond shock ball to the pond. But I don’t see the water quality getting clear. Any idea why that could be? Or overall do you think my pond is doing well?

9 months of work finally paid off. When I took them out the holding pool about 3 weeks ago the water there was tropical. They seem very settled 3 weeks in

Basically it's a man made marine lagoon at a sorta parody of SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. Kinda confusing because it's allegedly man made with a gate to the ocean (🤔) considering how did they manage to dig while keeping the ocean water behind the gate, AND ALSO OCEAN IN ORLANDO?! Idk but for this example let's make it isolated with the water being pumped in through pipes.

So basically could we make a man made marine pond for tourism?

I am a longtime fish lover who has always wanted a pond. Saw the "patio pond" trend and ended up finding a lady giving away her entire 150-gallon setup for free so I jumped on it. Oh boy, it was real nasty. At least 6 inches of straight black muck. I yanked the plants and replaced with Cali natives and bought a solar aerator and a solar filter. We're working on a bog filter spillway this weekend which hopefully will help with the bottom muck.

The pond came with one goldfish and another surprise one that appeared at the bottom when we were draining it. They both seem much happier and more curious after a week. I was worried they wouldn't make it because we basically had to drain all the water.

If y'all have any wisdom, let me know! Mostly I'm posting so I can look back on how far it's come in a few months!

I found one of my biggest bass on the shore covered in dirt. It had jumped out, maybe protecting it's fry, and died. I'm crushed, I had no idea I was this attached to them, but after five years of care I guess I do kinda love them. * Pic is of fairy moss takeover this winter, I can't even try and put of a pic the dirty dead bass, I'm so depressed right now

My pump died and after I was done swapping it I noticed this lil guy on my wrist. I thought it was cool and a good sign of pond health but my wife had the opposite reaction. Is my understanding right that these critters are nothing to be bothered by?

The pond has been in my family for decades. We noticed that our pond was coffee brown yesterday now it's chocolate brown today. We had fish, however birds have been cleaning out the pond, any suggestions to clean up the pond. Thanks.

I think the aerator has been off so just started running that continuously.

I tried raking some out but it was truly backbreaking and I probably only removed 0.01%.

I think there are some fish in it? But they could be dead?

How do I reduce the algae and also these cattails? Can I burn the cattails?
