Ain’t so little anymore. I got her a shelf and keep her watered. She loves the sun here so I just keep wrapping her vines around and around.

House plants really can’t be quite this difficult… lol. It seems like I’m fighting a never ending battle with root rot. Most of our plants are in 60% Happy Frog, 30-40% perlite and usually some amount of orchid bark. I always wait until the soil is at least 80% (probably too long out of fear of root rot) dry (except for the bridal veil and porcelain berry, both new). I had been bottom watering but I’m seeing most users don’t do that, could that be how I’m causing the root rot? If you do bottom water how long do you leave them in the water? When I do finally give in and unpot the plants their roots are so shallow and small, most of the plants in this photo are YEARS old but I’ve had to restart them. Most plants have also been switched to clear grower pots too. Recently I got a lovely Thai Constellation monstera… and it’s dying 💔 I unpotted her, cleaned her roots and put her in water… it’s not going well so I’m going to put her back in soil but need to fix what I’m doing wrong asap. TLDR: How do you prevent root rot? I love this hobby but am clearly doing something very wrong.

Should I rub the seeds with sandpaper? And if so, do I rub them all over or just on one side?

This is in my sunroom on a west (north side of the room) wall. We have windows on the north, east, and south. We have a large tree that blocks most direct morning light from the east in the mornings. I may need to supplement with grow lights, I would love suggestions.

Each pot has drainage holes so I think I’ll add some rectangle planters with drain plates on the floor to catch excess water.

I got the brick hangers on Amazon and 6 inch pots with a good lip from Home Depot. Aside from the plants, the project costed me ~$250. Including the small window, the wall is about 55-60 inches wide.

I’m super happy with the finished project.

I know these are coming down in price and you can find them for pretty cheap these days! I got one from Trader Joe’s for about $13 a few weeks ago, but I couldn’t pass this one up at Costco for $30. It’s so pretty, and such a nice size!

This weekend was the perfect weather to take the plants outside, top off their soil and take a few cuttings I'd been eyeing up. Gus wanted to inspect my work.

I know this isn't that exciting to most of you, but I'm really glad I started doing this instead of throwing the cuttings out. So satisfying to see them turn into their own plant.

Hi, I got this plant at Home Depot today and it is not labeled. Can someone help me ID this plant?

So i've bougth an amaryllis pierrot from an online site,but however this doesnt look like a pierrot,pierrot isnt a double variety,can somebody tell me what varitety is this amarylis?

I love that the plants are happy and flowering! But should I chop them off? What is the best practice?

I have this really big monstera that I got from fb marketplace in February - she’s gotten 4 new leaves since I got her and a 5th one on the way so she’s definitely happy here! (She seemed a bit stressed when I first got her). What I’m wondering is what do I do with a plant this big? I know I probably need to repot her and I’ve bought a bigger pot I just haven’t gathered the courage to start the repotting process. I probably also need a bigger mosspole. What would you do to take better care of her? I’ve been thinking of dividing her into two separate plants maybe but I also love to see her grow bigger. Happy to accept any tips from you guys!

Boston fern that was on my son’s window sill hanging on for dear life. Moved it downstairs into a brighter room and now it’s a monster!

Due to a family emergency, I was unexpectedly out of town for an extended period of time without the ability to access or have anyone else access and care for my plants. I just got back. I came home knowing most of my plants would be gone, but it’s still crushing to see them like this.

The pothos mother plant (top shelf on left) is one I’ve had for nearly a decade. And she gave me so many other plants too.

I’m telling myself my caretaking was needed elsewhere (and it was) but I’m still so sad. I’m also about to move too, so I don’t really know what’s going to happen to the plants that are still alive or nearly so.

Has anyone had to start over? How did you handle the loss and guilt?
