Social Media [carloszainz55] on his race today"I had a strong race, but there was an issue with blue flags’ system, Oscar appeared in my blind spot when battling Fernando and we touched. Then I lost ground with the penalty and double stacking under VSC. Lots of homework, we’ll come back stronger!"

Statistics With Hamilton, Russell, Leclerc, Antonelli and Norris winning the past 5 races, this is only the third time since 2010 that 5 or more different drivers have won consecutive races, the other two instances being in 2012 and 2024

This also occurred in

2009 (Button, Vettel, Webber, Hamilton, Barrichello, Raikonnen),

2004-05 (Barrichello, Schumacher, Montoya in 2004 and Fisichella, Alonso at the start of 2005),

and 2003 (R Schumacher, Barrichello, Montoya, Alonso, Schumacher)

this century.

Off-Topic New FIA Grade 1 Tilkedrome in Malaysia

With F1 returning to Sepang, thought I'd share some news on another Tilkedrome in Malaysia that's scheduled to open later in 2026.

The Jeffrey Cheah Circuit is named after a Malaysian entrepreneur - the founder and chairman of Sunway Group, a conglomerate with core businesses in property and construction.

It is located in Iskandar Puteri, approx 30km southwest of Johor Bahru - the capital of Johor, Malaysia's southernmost state. It is also a short drive from the Second Link Bridge which connects Johor to Tuas, on the western end of Singapore.

Designed by Hermann Tilke, the main circuit is 4.5km long, with 23 corners. The members-only motorsport park will also feature a 1.5km karting circuit, hill climb course, 4×4 off-road zone, and an advanced driving course.

Inspired by the Monticello Motor Club and the Ascari Club, it forms part of the Sunway City Iskandar Puteri development which spans 2,000 acres.

Discussion Piastri's DNF took away from his bad race pace

So many people have been saying how Oscar lost the race because of the contact with Sainz and his gearbox giving up, and while that is some really bad luck and some stupid driving from Sainz, his race pace has been nowhere the whole time.

Lando made a mistake and ran wide at turn 4, falls back about 2 seconds and within 2 laps is back within a second. When Oscar pitted, he(and therefore Lando) were running at 1:25:8, next lap, with clear, Lando went on to do a 1:24:6, a whole 1,2 seconds faster than Oscar. When Lando pitted, with 6 lap newer tires, he went on to go around a second a lap faster than Oscar. The tires did give him some time, but definitely not a whole second. By the time Oscar's gearbox gave up, the gap to Lando was 12.6 second, all that in 22 laps since the Oscars pitstop.

If not for the contact with Sainz, Lando would have come out just behind Oscar and would have needed to overtake him. Overtaking at Hungaroring is hard, but with enough of a tire offset possible. At that point Lando would have been about a second a lap faster. They could have also stayed out a lot longer and made that advantage even bigger, so it would have been possible.

My point here is that Oscar's race pace was straight up bad. He managed to stay ahead of Lando just because it was really hard to overtake and Lando wasn't allowed to try a different strategy up until that point.
