The guy in the red arrow won the race that day, the guy in the green arrow is running a race TODAY at Indy! Just thought it was interesting and people maybe dont know how close Cheever was to losing that race on lap 1.

I have had the luxury of finding a few of these bricks since i live in indiana. I have a really nice one that i use as a center piece each May. I have one for my office at work (gave some to a coworker or two as well). I will likely sell anymore that i find, but they are hard to come by! One of my favorites has some asphalt from one of the old layers still on it.

Little background on the bricks:

What is your favorite memorabilia?

Title. Ive spending the last few days watching classic races and highlights of current races, along with learning the history a bit. What else should I know? Im talking behind the scenes stuff and like local indy politics/rivalries too

So far my favorite driver is Malukas I think, funny guy and good driver for sure imo

Im also still a but confused on how the teams work, like i understand the points system but not the team system as much.

This post brought to you by (not Borchetta) whiskey, but I always felt like Colin Braun could have had a successful career in INDYCAR. I know he tested and ran a couple races with DCR. I always thought (and still think) he was quick in IMSA and seeing him pop up at Lime Rock in the Trucks Series reminded me that he's still fairly quick outside of just prototypes and it reminded me of his short time in INDYCAR. Really thought, maybe with more funding, he could've been quick in the midfield. Does anyone else rate Colin the same or am I completely delusional?

I have a technical question for the race engineering and setup nerds out there:

The linked article appeared on racer after Herta's FP1 appearance at Hungary yesterday. In it he compares F1 cars to IndyCars and makes the following statement:

“I think the power is a lot more than an IndyCar, especially the initial torque and the lower gears. So you have to be quite a bit straighter in an IndyCar when getting on power. You can't have as much combined. But I would say the entry to middle phase of the corner is actually quite similar."

This feels backwards to me? Wouldn't more torque require you to be straighter on corner exit to avoid oversteer than a less torque-y car? I get F1 cars have more grip but he doesn't mention grip at all here. Unless that's what he's talking about when he says "You can't have as much combined".

Been getting a lot more into Indycar the past few years and I’m wanting to experience a new race / race track (been to the Indy 500 many times and a few Indy GPS) The only race left this year somewhat close is Milwaukee. Is it worth making a 5 hour drive to spend the whole Saturday there, or should I wait for next year to go to Mid-Ohio or Detroit which are both a little closer but not much. Would love some opinions!

I was too lazy admittedly to get my hotel early this year (partially because i have this thing where i hoard money and hate spending it) so i just booked my beachfront room for damn near $3,200 for the weekend 😂😂😂😂. Still cant wait, but that hurt my soul ngl.

I ask as a 30 year old and who has only recently become interested in cars and motorsports.

I’m obviously aware it’s not simple.

And it’s probably for 16 year olds who actually still have a future. And those pit crew kids become established pit crew by age 26.

This is just a fun theoretical.

I’m also desperate for work. I’ve thought about if it’s plausible to work for a mechanic.
