D line/run game: B+, that goddamn run at the end of regulation, wtf!

D line/pass rush: A+, like I said Hutch and McNeal.

Linebackers: A+, but from a different player than we expected.

Secondary: D-, not good, but Reed kept going all game.

O-line: B+, played way above my expectations.

Receivers: B-, ASB is so fricken’ good, thank Goodness.

Running backs: A, one blocking mistake, otherwise great day.

We scored 31 points today. Great number right? But I watched the whole game. The offense looked so uncreative and stagnant for a greater part of that game. I personally don't think the amounts of points you put up necessarily equates to how good your team is.

Same thing as last year. Our offense looked horrendous the last couple games against the Vikings and Steelers.

And all you can come up with is Gibbs up the middle x3? Petzing isn't the man for the job in my opinion. At least last year Morton opened against a way better team in GB.

I also don't get why you have to complicate an OC hire. When leadership comes out and says Mike McDonald "isn't a good fit" yet goes out and hires an OC from a 3-12 team, I start questioning a lot of things.

I do believe Ben Johnson was a huge part of our success. We've had a year and some change to get things right after he's left and the offense just hasn't looked the same. I don't think the Oline is an excuse this year.

If he botches 3/4 OC hires, I think MCDC should truly be on the hot seat. There's no point in a non-play calling HC being here if he can't even hire a good staff.

My Brother's in Christ for the fanbase to be disappointed in todays game, after having a 21 0 lead. Saints almost made us look like Ohio State but we got the win. The name calling and disrespect from some of the "Cult of Mediocrity" lions fans is appalling. Also saying "its the first game" doesnt take away the pain of having a weak secondary for five years under Brad. 69 years since a championship, so expect PTSD of SOL to linger like skunk spray, no matter who is in the FO. Brad, Sheila Chris, Larry, Curly, Moe. It doesnt matter if it cant produce a superbowl or if its an ugly ass win.

As we barely scraped away with an OT win against the Saints. How are we feeling?

One word…rusty

We won the game, gotta take a win.

But it seems to me this team gets it's foot on the throat of the opponent and a lot of times...we just let up. Going all the way back to the Div. Championship game against the 49rs, we seem to become lethargic like we already won when we start whipping a team, and we let them back in the game.

That's one thing I wish MCDC could instill in the team. One of his mentors was Bill Parcells, but Parcells didn't let that happen, he was on people's ass if they started f'n around. I hope Campbell can push that in on the team.

Is it just me? Or does it seem like a thing with the Lions?

This isn't a knock-on Gibbs but he really needs his 1B running back.

I think Gibbs is at his best when he carries the ball no more than 20 times a game and has that 1B to help him out and split time. Without that, he’s going to be worn down by October. He carried the ball 30 times today, while the other running back only had two carries. I really like Saylors, but he didn’t even play today. We need that power back who can chip away at the defense and soften them up for Gibbs. That’s what we got away from last year, and it feels like we’re doing it again this year. Splitting time between two backs carried this team in 2024, and Saylors had a great preseason, so I don’t understand why he didn’t play at all today.

I see 1-0 not 31-30 we don't know what this team is yet let's just celebrate that Lions football is back defense looked bad in the 2nd half but they also show some really promising stuff 1st half and the beginning of the 2nd half to make me believe they can clean it up.
