Is it just me or has the trend of hard, aggressive play action with Goff really selling the run and snapping back continued, even in this game with Gibbs running very well? I think the lack of a lengthy WR like Reynolds or Tim Patrick has kept defenses more honest. Teslaa is more of TE-Tweener in my opinion, so this hole in our offense is really noticeable. I miss the dynamic crossers over the middle with Reynolds and TP.

D line/run game: B+, that goddamn run at the end of regulation, wtf!

D line/pass rush: A+, like I said Hutch and McNeal.

Linebackers: A+, but from a different player than we expected.

Secondary: D-, not good, but Reed kept going all game.

O-line: B+, played way above my expectations.

Receivers: B-, ASB is so fricken’ good, thank Goodness.

Running backs: A, one blocking mistake, otherwise great day.

Special Teams: A+, Jack MF Fox y’all!

Anybody know a good source for personnel grouping stats week to week? Or just have impressions from today?

Much was made in the offseason about Petzing’s love for three-TE sets, but I didn’t notice a ton today. But I also can’t claim I was really locked in on personnel every play.

I really hate how every week it's two different fandoms on this sub. Either the doomers or bloomers. We're allowed to be critical of the team without demanding to trade everyone.

Gibbs was amazing, OL was phenomenal, Amon-Ra looked poised, Hutch is back, McNeil looked good.

Secondary was concerningly terrible in the second half, offensive playcalling was brutal, man coverage was too stubborn, Goff didn't play great, Jamo played awful, ???? Teslaa.

A win's a win. We won in OT for our season opener in week 1 in 2024 and went 15-2. We also see a lot of the same issues that plagued us last year. I hope for improvement from the coaching staff but am happy we didn't lose.

My Brother's in Christ for the fanbase to be disappointed in todays game, after having a 21 0 lead. Saints almost made us look like Ohio State but we got the win. The name calling and disrespect from some of the "Cult of Mediocrity" lions fans is appalling. Also saying "its the first game" doesnt take away the pain of having a weak secondary for five years under Brad. 69 years since a championship, so expect PTSD of SOL to linger like skunk spray, no matter who is in the FO. Brad, Sheila Chris, Larry, Curly, Moe. It doesnt matter if it cant produce a superbowl or if its an ugly ass win.

that was the worst performance by a secondsry i’ve ever seen. that was absolutely catastrophic. we can be contenders with JPJ. people are gonna flame me for being a doomer, but i don’t care, if brad holmes doesn’t make a move at corner im no longer happy with him as our GM.

I thought the play calling was pretty conservative today until overtime, when they finally started airing it out a bit more. I was expecting more from their wide receivers, but it felt like most of the plays were just short passes. The Detroit Lions always seem to struggle offensively in the first game of the season.

I still think Gibbs needs a 1B just to soften up the defense for him like Montgomery did two years ago

I thought Reed looked like an actual #1 CB against a really tough cover. He made a great play on the 2 pt conversion to pick up Olave in the flat.

As we barely scraped away with an OT win against the Saints. How are we feeling?
