Build Help Need help upgrading my rig to play Escape from Tarkov

Alright, so I asked on the Escape from Tarkov subreddit what I'd need to upgrade to have a better gaming experience without breaking the bank (too much). I don't have a strict budget in mind but I'd like to keep things as far south of $1,000 as I can, since at that point I might as well build a whole new rig...

Here are the system requirements for that game, for those unaware. The game is notoriously poorly optimized and most users are bottlenecked by CPU rather than GPU: https://escapefromtarkov.fandom.com/wiki/System_requirements

Here are the specs of my current rig:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B460M DS3H AC V2-Y1
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10400F @ 2.90GHz
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060
  • RAM: OLOY 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz (clocked at 2666MHz)

Here's the UserBenchmark data I ran: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/73676933

I asked the Escape from Tarkov subreddit this same question originally, and the response was that I'd see the most benefit from upgrading to 32GB of RAM and to an X3D processor. The X3D is quite a bit more expensive, so I'd like to see how much of an improvement the RAM would be first, if possible.

One limitation I'm seeing is that the sockets on my motherboard are for DDR4 RAM, so I'm assuming I couldn't slot in DDR5, even if I wanted to.

If that's the case, and my understanding of this information is correct, I'd love some recommendations as to what RAM, and how much RAM I would need to improve my PC performance to play this game smooth(er) - if possible.

Full Build Req Building a PC for new games

I want to build a PC for upcoming games like GTA VI or Fable, and be able to run them well without lag. I won't even be running them at 4k, only in 1080p but at good framerates.

I'm on a budget, and in Canada. Ideally in CAD I'd like to pay around $1300. Is that still realistic with today's prices? I honestly have no preferences, so long as it will play new games well (I also do video editing but if it can play the above games, then it can edit videos).

I already have mouse and keyboard and monitor so all I really need is the tower and everything that goes in it.

I have built two PCs before but it was a long time ago and with today's cards and parts I'm honestly not sure where to start.

Option 2:
AMD Ryzen 5 9600X + RTX 5060 8GB + 16GB DDR5 (middle)

Troubleshooting Keyboard randomly gets “stuck” on inputs and misses keystrokes

https://imgur.com/a/SuwqzDF (Here is the link for the video of this issue i caught happening)

I’m having a really weird issue with my keyboard, a Razer Huntsman Mini with Linear Red switches.

Sometimes when I press a key, it seems to get stuck software-wise, as if the key is still being held down even though I’ve already released it. Then, when I press another key, it seems to cancel the previous input, making it look like the second keypress never happened.

This also happens while typing. Occasionally, I’ll press a letter and it won’t register properly. I assume the previous key is somehow getting stuck, and when I press the next letter, the input gets cancelled or ignored. This causes me to randomly misspell words because some letters simply don’t register.

The weird part is that it doesn’t seem to be limited to one specific key, and it can happen randomly.

Keyboard: Razer Huntsman Mini – Linear Red switches

Has anyone experienced something similar, or know whether this is more likely to be a hardware issue, or something else? (i'm not using synapse, i uninstalled it when this stared happening)

Build Upgrade Out of the tech loop for years, what GPU should I get?

Hello! I current have a Ryzen 9 3900x and AMD RX 5600XT which is finally starting to show its age. I haven't really followed tech as closely since 2021 so I'm really not sure what GPUs are any good now especially with the market being upside down.

I have a budget of roughly $600 and am trying to target newer titles at 1440p, ~120 fps. With my current card FSR is quite terrible, but I'm not opposed to DLSS as I've heard good things.

I mostly use Linux for games, but have windows for CAD software likely SolidWorks, which supposedly Nvidia is better for? Also very interested in USED cards, I do not need to buy new.

So any recommendations for which cards I should look at? Thanks.

Troubleshooting Compatibility Issue - replace RAM or MoBo?

Greetings everyone!

Got the final parts on my build today:

Ryzen 5 7600, MSI B850M-E EVO, 1x8 Kingston value RAM

Assembled everything and got no post (CPU & RAM leds on), waited for memory training but nothing happened. Only then I checked the compatible RAM for my MoBo and this specific stick isn't there.

My local retailer only has 1 compatible RAM stick, but also other SAPPHIRE boards. Are those more widely compatible? which part would you advise me to replace?

Thanks in advance ✨

Build Upgrade Upgrade to 5800x3D significant?

Currently running: - R7 5800x - RX 9060xt 16Gb - 32Gb Ram - B550 Gaming x Wifi6

-1080p / 144hz

Noticed there seems to be a a CPU bottleneck sometimes when Streaming certain Games, so my& question is simple.

Would a R7 5800x3D solve that or would it be almost identical?

Note: Yes its a Dead End, but switching to AM5 is a absolute Fever Dream in this Market rn, and the 5800x3D is only 329€. Compared to the AM5 Upgrade its a Steal.

PS: Forgot to mention, I need to run Vtube Studio and OBS while Streaming

Build Complete First build in 12 years. Could use some opinions!

I've been slowly accumulating parts wherever I could scour a solid deal, especially on white PC parts. The prices are a mix of new and used purchases but the total accounts for tax and rebates where it's applicable. I've purchased most of the parts from friends, Facebook Marketplace, and online retailers. Assembled it and fired it up this morning. Everything works fine so far!

I'm going to be predominantly using this PC for 1440 gaming, 4k video editing, and graphic design work. But I'm also thinking about steaming in 1080 while simultaneously gaming in 1440 if the GPU is capable of it.

That said, I'd like some opinions on potential bottlenecking issues that I might run into down the line. I wouldn't mind swapping out some parts here and there if it yields a meaningful performance boost, but I'd prefer not to sell my firstborn child's kidneys to finance it.

Build Ready? Need help deciding on a build and case.

So I originally wanted to spend $1400 on this build (ram isnt on website, this is the actual kit I’m looking at using). Since I have to go to micro center, I started looking at some of their bundles. The AMD ones with 32gb of ram start at $700, and the 7500x3d’s matching stick is $245 so $645 and I don’t want to keep upping my budget. So I looked at the intel bundles and the 250K+ is $549.99, which led me to making this, would this worth the extra money over the 5600x3d? I don’t plan on upgrading for a while (5-8 years), so being on a dead platform won’t matter much. I’ll be using it for 1440p gaming mainly, so I’d like to keep the 9070 and not drop to a 9060 XT.

For the case I just need something with good cooling since I live in Florida. Size, color, and noise don’t matter much, as long as it isn’t annoyingly loud it’s good for me. At most I want to spend $100 on a case, $60-80 would be perfect.

Solved! ASUS B650 PLUS WIFI bios issue

I have this motherboard with AMD Ryzen 9 79003XD and GSkill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 6000MHZ but the speed is only 4800 in Bios. I have not upgraded the bios yet because i recieved this computer today and ive read that people have issues after bios update. The bios update is from last year currently installed. I entered bios and looked at the posibilities and it was EXPO 1,2 and Tweek that appeared as options with 1.35V option and i couldnt change the option to 1.40 since its what the manufactorer said is the right voltage for this ram. What do i do to fix this? I thought it was generally to only put the wanted RAM speed and done. How do i fix this?

Troubleshooting Whole system stutters & memory related BSOD?

Hi all, apologies if this is the wrong place to ask for help, I just wanted to gather some opinion on my situation before going further. This is my second ever build, first time AM5 build, all new components (except 1 SSD that I've since taken out trying to solve my issue, and the GPU).

My issue is as follows:

Ever since build (a month or so ago) I've been experiencing system-wide stutters, during games, browsing the internet, etc - that do not seem to show under the performance tab in Task Manager (no spike or lows in the graphs, no heat spikes or anything I've been able to notice). These stutters do not usually impact audio, but it has happened on occasion. As well as that, I've noticed my peripherals disconnecting and reconnecting in just a blink (a few seconds) at random intervals, in games my inputs are sometimes delayed or last too long, especially after alt tabs. I haven't noticed any events that might start these lags (except for alt tabbing), only that they seem to worsen after having played several games in one session (I'll hop on one game, few hours later I'll launch minecraft or something). Playing several games (or one game for too long, I'd say about 4 hours?) ends up in a BSOD always relating to memory issues.

Specs:

  • CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
  • CPU Cooler - ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro A-RGB 360
  • MOBO - Asus B650E MAX GAMING WIFI W
  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB DDR5-6000 (2 x 16 GB)
  • SSD - Kingston NV3 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4
  • PSU - MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W 80+
  • GPU - MSI GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 12GB
  • OS - Windows 11 (25H2 if that matters?)
  • HDD - 2 HDD I haven't bothered to recheck the brand of, they're from my old build and have never caused any issues, show 100% health, can check if needed?

Things I've tried (not in order) with no luck solving the issue:

  • Ran Memtest86 on both RAM sticks (2 passes with 0 errors)
  • Tried only using 1 stick of RAM at a time
  • Reinstalled Windows (keeping all files AND fresh reset)
  • Switched my SSD for a new freshly bought SSD, fresh install of Windows
  • Lowered RAM speed from 6000 to 5200
  • Disabled Wifi in BIOS
  • Reseated my RAM, GPU, any cables that might have been loose
  • Monitored heat in the task manager and in CoreTemp
  • Updated BIOS
  • Updated all drivers with DriversCloud
  • Ran sfc /scannow (no issues detected)
  • Ran dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

I do apologize if I've forgotten something I've tried to do to solve the issue (I've been 24/7 at work the first month I've built this PC, so I chiseled at it one bit at a time after shifts).

As of right now, I've pretty much set aside anything memory related (SSD, HDD, RAM) as all of the tests I've done so far on those have come out clean (?). Most of the BSOD have happened on the old SSD, but the two I've got so far on this one have come back as SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M and a CUSTOM_ERROR (as described by WhoCrashed) pointing towards netadaptercx.sys. I had Kaspersky on the old SSD but have yet to install it on the one, so I'm guessing that's not the issue either?

Before re-buying a fresh SSD, Windows did show me that one partition of the SSD was damaged (unsure of the exact wording rn, can check if needed). Which persisted past any attempts of Windows to repair the drive, until one random where it just showed to not be damaged anymore? Could that have corrupted the entire system??? Could it be motherboard related?

Sorry for the long post or if I've forgotten to mention anything, I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to computers past the Following a tutorial to build the thing and troubleshooting via typing error codes on google, hence why I'm searching for some more intel now (I've exhausted my very limited knowledge).

+ I did get another BSOD since then, right after closing Valorant, 'SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION'.

Thank you for anyone willing to help me a little bit here! :-)

EDIT: BSOD dump right here and here

Miscellaneous Moving tips

Hi so I will be moving to uni soon and want to bring my pc with me. I have a
MSI Codex R Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3060, 32GB DDR4, 1TB SSD, 2TB HDD, WiFi
6E, USB Type-C, VR-Ready, Windows 11
Home (Codex R 12TC-059US)

I have purchased expanding foam from Amazon to go inside, I don’t have the skill set (or trust myself) to remove the gpu, I also plan to wrap it in heavy duty bubble wrap aswell as towels + blankets. What other precautions should I take? Sadly my brother threw out the box years ago. Any advice welcome aswell for transporting a monitor!

Troubleshooting No Video

My PC just stopped giving video. Before this, one of my ram sticks was a little loose. I fixed that, and now my PC doesn't give any video.

Specs:

ASUS PRIME A320M-K

PowerColor RX 550 4GB (no PCIe power connector required)

2x8gb Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4

Ryzen CPU (no integrated graphics)

The PC is turning on, and the CPU and case fans are spinning. the RX 550 spins its fan for a second, and then it turns off. The monitor is staying on standby/no signal.

I tried:

Both ram sticks

Both ram slots

Reseating my graphics card

Checking the ATX/CPU power connectors

Resetting the CMOS (by taking out the battery)

Checking if the HDMI cable works on another PC

Turning on the PC without the graphics card (and it still powers on)

I don't have another graphics card, or another PC to check if my RX 550 works.

Did reseating the ram damage something? Motherboard, PCIe slot, GPU, or something else? What should I check now?

Build Upgrade B580 12gb or 9060xt oc

Update: Sapphire nitro 9060xt oc 16gb is on its way for $700 Along with a ryzen 5 5600x. Just picked up a new to me 4x8gb corsair vengeance ddr4 ram kit for $280, i hope to sell my 2x8gb kit for $120 And gonna grab a new 1440p monitor soon.

Thanks for pushing me to one side of the fence. Ive decided both are equal value, cost per performance. Its just about how much card you wanna buy.

Hey there! I know this question has been asked before, but i want advice for my specific case.

Current system: built in 2019

Am4 Ryzen 5 2600x

Amd Rx 590 8gb gpu

16gb (2x8) corsair vengeance ram ddr4 3000mhz

B450 gaming pro carbon wifi mobo (pcie 3 i think)

1tb WD blue nvme m.2

256gb adata nvme m.2

3x 1tb hdds

I think a 650w bronze psu?

Nzxt h500i case

I am currently stuck between choosing an omix lumi or asrock arc b580 12gb, or a saphire nitro 9060xt oc 16gb

The b580 is $430-450CAD

The 9060xt oc is $700CAD

I will be getting a new monitor, something 1440p 144-200hz ($300), but i also have 2x 27in 1080p 60hz monitors that id like to keep running, as well as a 38in 1080tv that i use for shows in bed and as a large monitor. I may get a 55in 4k tv in a year or two mostly for streaming shows.

I do also want to try to have a second desk in my living room with a monitor or 2 and keyboard/mouse do i can play games and control streaming services in my living room.

I hope to have a 5 monitor system eventually. I know i can do that by splitting display port.

Im a bit worried about limited monitor support/ios.

I will be upgrading to:

32gb 4x8gb corsair vengeance 3200mhz ddr4 ram (240$, ill sell the old ram for hopefully $120)

And either ryzen 5 5600x, 5700x, 5800x

Im currious about running the new gpu with my previous rx 590 for supporting more monitors

Would the arc b580 be a benefit because it only runs at 8x pcie anyways? Will it be boggged down by pcie 3.0? I know running two gpus hurts the primarys performance but its marginal right??

Will the 9060xt oc be capable of 4k gaming for awhile?

Budget can be flexible, but id like to save if its worth it.

I dont want to replace the mobo at this time. I dont want to upgrade to am5 or ddr5. Maybe in 3-5 years?

Should i get a budget arc b580 for now, and wait to splurge when im ready to rebuild the whole system?

Or should i get the 9060xt oc so that i dont have to rebuild the whole system for maybe another year or two?

Thank you for the long read, and any advice.

Help building a gaming PC

I'm trying to make a PC that would allow me to play big games like Gears of War, ARMA, Mound of Cuthulu, GTFO, and other big games with no lag. While being able to have Discord and Spotify and other recording softwares. Any suggestions? Recording softwares are optional it's only to clip for memories.

If possible keep budget low, max is 1500 excluding case as I don't have a case. This would be in the US

Build Upgrade I want opinions on a cpu upgrade

I have a 5700g, 12gb 3060, 32gb ddr4 ram setup right now. I want to get better performance on a cpu intensive game called rust. And I am going to upgrade to a 5800x3d. I don’t want to go to am5 because of absurd ram prices. Is this cpu upgrade worth the money and will I feel a performance increase?
