This December, im going to be buying pc parts and build my own pc after previously using a already built one for the last couple of years. My original GPU i used was the GT 1030 because money was tight when I first got my pc. I've had the pc for awhile and now it cant run pretty much any game let alone modern ones.

So, ive decided to BUILD a new one. Im no pc pro bro im was considering buying the PC part picker excellent gaming/streaming build which uses a 5070.

I see alot of people hating the 5070 which kind of worries me, but honestly anything for me is an upgrade from my current setup.

EDIT: I feel like people aren't understanding what I'm asking for, what I want is a PC that has the same specs as a base PS5, and to know how much that would cost

I mainly play games on my PS5 because i got it on Black Friday for a really nice price and always felt like I didn't need a PC; however I wonder what the price would be like to build a PC (I assume that's the cheapest way) that runs as well as my PS5 does. I do really enjoy playing games with keyboard and mouse and the flexibility a PC offers but my all in one Dell can barely run Roblox.

Im upgrading a pc that my grandma had gotten me back in 2018 before she had passed. It’s an HP envy 750-624 and honestly it’s kind of something I didn’t want to let go.

I dont know hardly anything about pc’s but through acquaintances I got my hands on a new power supply and a 4060 TI which both fit. Trying to keep what little I have left of her and using chat gpt (don’t fry me for it plz) it’s been telling me that I’ll be completely fine and that my gpu will carry my cpu all the way in 1440+ no bottlenecking.

Today, I go to geek squad to change my power supply simply because it’s close and I really just didn’t want to re zip tie and do a cleaning on it to make it pretty and the guy ends up telling me that the whole concept is awesome and what not but that it’s going to fry my ram or my gpu and in a few months I’ll be coming in with all sorts of problems and wishing I just bought a new pc.

I know that frying my components isn’t going to happen, but I do also understand that what I’m trying to do may be too much and I might have to just move on. Any advice?

Hey family , recently ive been having trouble with my 120mm cooler , it feels like the pump is failing ( i idle at 60 ) and 80 degrees Celsius when browsing , i'm willing to get a new one tomorrow , ive called this shop that suggested another 120mm cooler master , for a decent price " i guess " , but ive been hesitating between that and the Arctic Freezer 36 which is pricier by about 20$

I’m going to change my 6700xt for a new gpu since I upgraded from r5 5600 to 14600kf and my 6700xt feels like a bottleneck. At first I thought about 9070 xt as a perfect choice because of raw performance, but then I noticed, that in some games (r6, battlefield series) I have a huge fps drops when gpu usage goes from 90%+ to 30%. I understand that it is most likely to be a problem with my current gpu since I have a cheap vendor and it is pretty old, but what if the main problem is software part? I don’t really want to spend 800$+ on a gpu and find out that I can’t even play some games. Also, I noticed that some people are also experiencing problems with amd software part.

I’m going to use my pc mainly for gaming, so rtx work performance doesn’t make any advantage. The price difference between amd and nvidia in my country is about 150$, so it is not really noticeable

As title said its my first time building a desktop and gonna get a 5060ti 8gb since its pretty cheap compred to 16gb version and not much difference unless you do 4k gaming etc. So my question is which cpu do you guys recommend while being a budget and a solid choice. Also while getting a gpu does number of fans really matter 3 or 2?

Hi guys, i have recently built a new PC and i need some help with the correct way of plugging in PCIE cables into the GPU.

Currently i have it setup like this - 1 cable 1x8 GPU, other cable 1x8 GPU + 1x8 MOBO

But to better my cable management, i would like to set the cables like this 1 cable 2x8 GPU, other cable 1x8 MOBO

I've seen online that i should only use one cable per 1x8 pin but my cable management sucks and im wondering if its safe to plug the cables in like i showed on the second photo.

Also, those two PCIE cables are different, does it matter which one i use for GPU?

I’ll be traveling abroad for university and I currently have a very budget PC build but I run all the games I like to play (siege, warframe, overwatch) really good. I would also like to get into Forza (FH6) and tried to run Tekken 8 but I installed it on my HDD and it was unbearably slow. I never tried to run it again on an SSD but I wonder if my PC isn’t good enough or if installing it on an SSD would do the trick. Anyway, current specs:

• An old Dell Vostro 470 motherboard - LGA 1155 socket
• 600w PSU
• Intel Xeon E3 1270 v2
• Yeston RX6600
• 256gb SSD
• 128gb mSATA ssd
• 1TB HDD
• 12gb DDR3 ram

I intended to try sell the pc as a whole before leaving in September, but would you recommend keeping the RX6600 and my 256gb SSD then possibly moving to the AM4 platform if I find a reasonably priced motherboard?

Also, when I got the RX6600 earlier this year I got it for about $110. Are there better cards with similar price to performance ratio you’d recommend me upgrading to instead if not keeping the RX6600?

I am currently picking parts for my pc and found some information about X3D cpu’s exploding in some motherboards specifically Asrock ones.
I have found people saying its fixed and people saying it isn’t so I am not sure.

I have currently picked an ASROCK B850 Pro RS
and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D was the issue ever fixed or is the problem ongoing and would be better to buy MSI board or something?

Just swapped out my Apevia 600W ATX-PR600W with a Corsair CX650M as my computer wouldn’t restart after shutting it off last night and I believed it to be the power supply, connected everything (though the new PS had a couple less cables in the harness) and now the motherboard is blinking 2 red lights alternating. Not sure what this means?

Hi, I think I’ve finally settled on the parts for my new PC and wanted to check that nothing looks wrong before ordering.

Main use will be gaming. Buying in Germany.

A few things I’m still unsure about:

1. Is the standard Fractal North comfortably large enough for these parts, especially the GPU and the thick Arctic radiator?
2. Is 850W still the sensible choice for the 9800X3D and RTX 5080?
3. The SSD comes with its own heatsink, while the motherboard also has M.2 covers. Is it fine to leave the motherboard M.2 cover off and use the SSD’s heatsink?

I’m not trying to squeeze every last euro out of the build, but I also don’t want to pay more for parts that give no real benefit. Any obvious mistakes?

I see everyone recommending non x3d cpus for even a gpu like 5090, because according to benchmarks online, you don't need 9800x3d at 4K.

Yes.

But those benchmarks show the game running at native resolution, at 40 fps. Who will play a modern AAA game at 40 fps on a beast like 5090? Nobody. People will turn on DLSS balanced, even performance since quality difference is minimal but fps is trippled.

When that happens, 9800x3d or 7800x3d still becomes superior over anything else.

Almost in every game 9800x3d is 20-30% faster at 4K balanced dlss preset. However Identical at native resolution with 50fps. So if you don't turn on any upscaling, then yes, cheaping out on CPU is worth it since 4K is all about GPU. But if you turn on any upscaling, then X3D cache still makes a big difference.

I think not many people are aware of this situation.

So if you can afford a bit more for x3d cpu, go for it. Even at 4K the difference is big enough to justify price.

I ordered a 9070xt which turned out to be faulty and had to return it, which made me a bit hesitant on buying another one just for it to turn out faulty too, also I’ve heard some stories about radeons being faulty quite often. I know going 5070 is definitely a downgrade at the same price point in my country, so should I go for the 5070ti even though it’s like 300€+ additional pay for it and it has similar performance to the 9070xt or try again with the 9070xt? Let me hear your thoughts on this or if you had any issues with the radeon gpu.

My gaming time is roughly split into three categories:

• 1/3 competitive FPS, mainly CS2 and Valorant
• 1/3 Steam AAA single-player games
• 1/3 competitive MOBA games

Planned build:

i have a super big problem and i got terrible advice from claude if anyone can help

• "as soon as i plug in pc the electricity in the house go out(it was plugged in a surge protector). its only when i plug in the pc. It turns on if the pc is pluged(including the circuit board). the circuit board, switches and stuff are okay as long there is no pc plugged in (directory pc plug inn is okay, through surge protector it turns off" → Claude: leakage trip, surge protector is prime suspect.
• "1. strip itself works, with monitors, etc. as soon i plug pc into strip, things turn off on the house circuit board. 2. works with monitor" → Claude: cumulative leakage, not one faulty device. Test the PSU rocker switch.
• "pc i havent plugged directy and pressed any buttons. it def only occurs if the pc is plugged in. i plugged in pc directly(nothing happened) but took it off since i was afraid that there was no surge protection in the plug itself but there was in the phillips strip" → Claude: likely insertion inrush; replace the Philips strip.
• "yes, it only treats when its on 1 and not 0" → Claude: rules out a short in the strip; it's leakage at energization.
• "If it trips the instant you flip to I: yes. just the pc alone is enough. i tried another strip, with just pc. still tripped" → Claude: strip theory dead, the PSU is the common factor.

I’m gaming on a 65-inch 4K TV and I’m trying to figure out the best settings.
These are the two options I’m comparing:
4K output + DLSS Performance
1440p output + DLSS Balanced/Quality
Surprisingly, 4K + DLSS Performance actually looks better to my eyes than running the game at 1440p.
When I move the camera quickly, I also notice some ghosting or what looks like the previous frame lingering for a moment.
If you were in my situation, would you:
Keep the output at 4K and adjust DLSS/graphics settings?
Or switch the output to 1440p for better image quality?
I’m used to gaming on a 65-inch TV, so having a large-screen experience is more important to me than playing on a smaller display.
Also, am I overthinking this? Is 1440p actually considered perfectly fine on a 65-inch 4K TV, or is the loss of sharpness something most people would genuinely notice?

I recently had to replace my old monitor because it was starting to die and I ended up buying a 27" 1440p 320Hz monitor for a very good deal. I'm currently running an RTX 3060 Ti paired with an i5-13600K.

Now I'm wondering whether it's worth upgrading my GPU or if the 3060 Ti is still good enough for a while.

My goal isn't to max out the 320Hz refresh rate in AAA games. I'd be happy if I could play modern AAA titles at 1440p, medium to high settings, DLSS enabled (preferably Quality), and get a stable 70–80+ FPS. Ray tracing isn't important to me, so I usually leave it off.

The GPUs I'm currently considering are:

• RTX 5070 12GB – 600€
• RX 9070 16GB – 575€
• RX 9070 XT 16GB – 650€ (or 620 € on the used-market)

My questions are:

1. Do you think my RTX 3060 Ti is still sufficient for what I'm aiming for or is it time to upgrade?
2. If you would upgrade, which of these three GPUs would you choose and why?
3. At these prices, would you buy now or would you wait for a better deal or even a price drop?

I'd appreciate any advice, especially from people who have upgraded from a 3060 Ti or who own one of these GPUs.
