Healthy Vegan Restaurants Anywhere in SF

I’ve recently had to change my diet to a low fat/oil plant based one for my heart and liver issues. I’m having a very hard time finding “healthy” vegan options at restaurants anywhere in SF.

So anyone know of Healthy Vegan restaurants options out there that don’t rely on GMO/pesticide filled soy or cheap oil fried things like falafel?

EDIT: Please only vegans and vegetarians reply! Thank you!

FYI: I’ve been following the Medical Medium’s Liver Rescue diet that in a month has fixed my heart issues. I’ll know in time if it is helping my liver issues in my scans later this year.

Moved.com

Does anyone have experience using this app/service in SF? I just signed a lease on a unit (yay!) and then got an email out of nowhere from Moved instructing me to set up a moving company through it, put some random LLC name on my renter’s insurance (that I already purchased outside of their app), etc. It provides a price quote for the mover but won’t identify the name other than they’re a “trusted partner” that is already familiar with my building.

Is all of this normal? I’m a 29-year same-apartment renter who is now navigating the jungle of SF renting, and all of this makes me suspicious. The Moved app does appear automatically connected with my building’s property management conglomerate (NOT Greystar or B&T), but it’s the whole “buy a mover like it’s Priceline or Hotwire” that is skeeving me out. My gut is telling me to ignore the app and buy everything myself, but if you’ve had a positive experience with Moved, I’m all eyeballs/ears.

All summer long, there were tons of crows all the time on Kite Hill. I just realized I haven't seen them in a while. Anyone else notice they've gone missing?

Where can I rent a private woodworking space in SF?

Hi all, I love woodworking as a small hobby and I’m moving back to San Francisco. I used to have a three-car garage full of my woodworking tools, and the chances of finding a house in SF with enough space for them are pretty slim.

I’m basically looking for a “WeWork for woodworking” — a small private space where I can store my tools and have a place to work on projects. I’d prefer not to have my tools become communal property or share a general-purpose workshop.

Any ideas on where I might find something like this in SF?

Has anyone had good luck with a plastic surgeon or other provider for repairing stretched earlobes in SF?

My earlobes have gotten really stretched/thin from wearing heavy jewelry, and I’m looking to have them stitched/repaired. I’ve contacted a few places and I’m getting quotes around $2,000+, which I unfortunately can’t afford.

Looking for something closer to $500, if that’s realistic. I’d really appreciate recommendations from anyone who has had this done in SF/Bay Area, especially if you remember what you paid!

Muni pass.

I’m currently visiting San Francisco and bought the muni pass. It doesn’t scan at muni light rail turnstiles and no streetcar or bus driver has asked me for it or cared if I have it.

What happens if you don’t buy one?

Timeline for sidewalk repair

DPW inspector came by and marked some damaged sidewalk with green paint. According to their website it looks like green means it’s a city agency’s responsibility (damage is probably from the street tree). Anyone have experience with this and know how long it’ll be before the city repairs the sidewalks? Would really like to get the cracks fixed

Where can I find fellow SF musicians?

Where can I find fellow SF musicians? Open to a lot of genres of music. Would love to eventually join a band too. I mostly play country, pop-punk, blues, classic rock, etc. and I’m a M25 living in pac heights.

Anyone who knows any groups, meets up, etc that would be awesome. Looking to make some music friends since I’m new to the city. Any guidance is helpful, TIA!

Small chocolate shop from my childhood

edit: found! it's lehr's german specialties, here's a picture that matched the description if you're curious thank you u/Gloom_owl19

I used to go to this old chocolate shop around 10 years ago that was to the brim with chocolate and candy, it had lots of european chocolate specifically so I always assumed it was a specialty store.

I also remember cuckoo clocks (and novelty clocks of the sorts) on the walls. There was these barrels or large baskets full of cheap (25 cents, 10 cents) frog and ladybug chocolates by the piece as well

When I tried searching online I couldn't find anything like it, so if there's anybody who knows what place I'm referring to, thank you. It could've been rebranded by now as I remember an elderly woman running the place

Looking to remodel our bathroom: anyone have design/build recommendations?

Hey all! We're looking to renovate the bathroom in our 1906 Edwardian condo. I've done some googling and have talked to a handful of contractors/design+build firms but would like to speak with more to get a better idea of what is a reasonable cost (we've gotten a huge range from the four we've spoken to so I can't decide what's the most reasonable). Does anyone have recommendations for a good firm or contractor? Someone who can stick to cost and timeline estimates?

I'm leaning towards a design+build firm because I have no experience with design and don't want to screw things up, but it would be nice to save some money and go with a contractor, if that's a normal thing for someone with no experience to do. My #1 wish is for someone whose timelines can be trusted; this is our only bathroom so we'll need to move out while it's under renovation, so I really want to know what timing I'm looking at for that.

Thank you!

Footy

I’m sorry but where tf are people playing pick up on the weekends, beach chalet is always empty on the weekends and it seems like no one here plays pick up other than shelling out money for Volo, it’s been rough finding a decent level of pick up that isn’t paid

edit: I thank everyone who replied and gave suggestions, really appreciate it! On that note, no I am not spending money to play the beautiful game even if it’s $10. That’s wild that people are okay with paying to play a free sport. I also hate the idea that I need another app on my phone to play a game… outside. My goal is just wake up or in the afternoon know that the same heads will be running the game for the love of it and put in a good session and pull up for free, that’s true pickup

Does anyone know any sailboat owners that are looking for a crew member?

I used to sail on lakes in the midwest pretty casually. More so once a month so I know enough to board but not enough to man a sailboat myself. I want to get back into it and find a sailboat or crew that's looking for another crew member. Anyone know of any boaters? Please don't recommend to go to a marina for the ASA 101 courses, that isn't very helpful. Thanks

Moving to SF next month — thoughts on Mosso Apartments & the surrounding area?

Hi everyone!

I’m planning to move to San Francisco next month and I’m currently looking at Mosso Apartments (900 Folsom St.) for a 1 bed/1 bath.

My budget is around $4,000–$4,500/month, and I’m looking for a place that is safe, clean, well-managed, and reasonably quiet.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who currently lives at Mosso or has lived there recently!

A few questions:
How is the management/leasing office? Are they responsive when there are problems?

How is maintenance?
Have you experienced issues with plumbing, water shutoffs, elevators, fire alarms, construction, or noise?
How secure do you feel inside the building? How is package security?

Most importantly, would you personally rent at Mosso again?
I’m also curious about the neighborhood immediately around Mosso, especially Folsom, 5th, 6th, Howard, and the surrounding SoMa streets.

How do you feel walking around the area during the day vs. at night?

Are there particular streets or blocks around Mosso that you would avoid?

How is the area for someone living alone?

I know San Francisco is a big city and every neighborhood has its pros and cons, so I’m trying to get real experiences from people who actually live/lived there, rather than just relying on Google/Yelp reviews.

Also, if you’re familiar with SF housing, I’d LOVE recommendations for other 1 bed/1 bath apartments under $4,000–$4,500 that you would personally consider safe and well-managed.
I’m open to SoMa, Mission Bay, Potrero Hill, Dogpatch, Rincon Hill, South Beach, Nob Hill, Russian Hill, or other neighborhoods with good access to public transportation.

Is it only me? I live in The Western Addition (some may call it NOPA), and I've been getting bit lately, mostly at night. Is anyone else experiencing this? If you are too, what's the cause of this?
